my phone doesn't respond at all in fastboot and volume rocker doesn't work at all. I tried tapping or smacking near the power button for a long time and still nothing.

if you dont get any response from your volume buttons, you can use odin. theres a thread here that explains how to do it through odin.

I read somewhere about taking the battery out and then plugging in the phone to usb with ADB running, or was it ODIN, it should boot in to download mode, and from there you can get in to recovery, I seen it done on youtube as well, I think you might need to press the volume up button when you put the battery in, hope it helps

[Q] Stuck in bootloop

My phone randomly turned off and went into a bootloop today. I've tried everything I know (pulling the battery, tried booting into CWM too) but they didn't work. Every time I put the battery in, the bootloop starts. I went through some other threads i found and a lot of them were talking about Odin, but idk what that is. Any help guys?
I'm running Infused v2.2.3, Entropys kernel
EDIT: New problem: I made my own JIG using resistors, and when I boot into download mode, it just keeps boot looping into download mode until i take the JIG out, so I can't flash using Odin or any other method if it keeps turning on and off.
Any solutions to this?

do you have a back up of your rom? if you have tried everything and it's not working, than yes.
Try doing a backup of your rom in recovery then wipe date factory reset and wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot. See if that helps to boot up your phone

What method are you doing when trying to get into recovery?
Pull battery. Put it back in. Hold both the volume keys and then hold the power button. Wait until the samsung screen shows and ONLY let go of the power button while still holding the volume buttons down. Factory reset and try to flash again.

Yes, I'm using the volume controls to try to get in, is there any other way, besides buying that JIG thing?
I would try letting your battery die in the loop then pull it and put it back in and try download mode your phone should not try to power on just by putting the battery in not sure why its doing that but maybe if the battery dies it'll work

2nd one didn't work, that's what I was trying before
Going to let the battery die and see what happens, trying to make my own JIG in the mean time

Making your own should work.
There's a fine point I want to make sure that you are doing correctly.
RECOVERY is holding all three buttons. Two volumes and power for 2 to 3 cycles.
Download is pull battery. Hold only two volume buttons, NO power button. Insert battery while holding volumes and insert USB. You can also insert USB then insert battery.
Try a different USB cordS. Try a different USB ports. Try a different battery

Volume button fault - Any other ways to go to bootloader?

Hello all,
my sensation's volume rocker is faulty. By pressing volume down and power on, it will not boot into boot loader thus cannot enter recovery.
I know i can use software to boot into it boot loader but what if I am getting bootloops and unable to boot into rom?
Any ADB commands to make the phone boot into bootloader straight?
I am planning to flash the factory RUU and go claim my warranty after i get my Galaxy nexus..

Possibly not unless your timing is amazing!
Are you stuck in bootloops now or is this hypothetical?
Please, tell if your volumne rocker is so broken that it cant even turn up/turn down volumne during normal use of phone?
If it's ok, thet I suggest method of booting into recovery which I use (and i had problems to boot before - thought it's vol. rocker):
1. press volume down button and hold it!
2. press power button for 2-3 seconds and then release, still holding the volumne down
3. phone boots into recovery after few seconds.
Hope it might help you.

Implying he can't control volume in a bootloop, I seriously hope this guy uses 4EXT touch, or else he needs to replace the rocker.

I understood that he can't enter recovery due to some volume button fault. When you stuck in bootloop only thing you can do is pull out the battery, no keys/buttons are usable - tested myself :/

not really hypothetical.. in fact i experienced it earlier..
my volume up/down seems to have a mind of his own and at times i will enter "safe mode"
thereafter it will auto reboot unless i am quick enough to do a factory wipe under settings... it will still boot into safe mode but wont auto reboot.
so after knocking a few times on the volume rocker, i am able to boot into normal mode but the volume rocker isnt working. Pressing it once, will cause to decrease the volume and switch to silent mode.

I dunno if HTC singapore will honor the warranty cause this is a hardware defect and nothing to do with any rom or unlock..
Even in bootloader mode, press up will cause it to go down or at times up. pressing down may or may not respond.

If you have CWM recovery installed (im not sure about other recoverys), you can connect your phone to your computer when it's off and you will have access to a limited adb provided by CWM. You can then use the command "adb reboot recovery" or "adb reboot bootloader" or whatever to do what you need to do.
Wipe all then cant boot into bootloader
Hi, i'm really sorry to bring back this post,
your fear had become my nightmare in reality.
The volume button was somehow (either physically spoil or is not capture click)
during booting process.
I have completely forgotten about it, and do complete wipe
(select wipe all except sdcard in touch recovery).
So, now the phone is completely clean (without rom)
and i'm unable to trigger bootloader/recovery via pwr/vol down button.
I have try take out battery, leave it for 10min and try press
all those button without casing/rocker;
press & hold vol down, den plug in battery;
and press both vol up & down then only pwr button.
The phone now (i assume) boot normally,
stop at HTC logo because there is no rom inside
(just like normal pc boot pass bios but cant find OS).
ironically, i live at singapore too... haha...

I read somewhere that the person use pin to press the button really hard
and it manage to go into bootloader
(but I cant find back that post now)
Searching in forum recommend me to peel off the
volume button cover n use pin to press on it directly
(which I do not dare )
So now I sent it to repair shop,
hopefully that person using either g-box or gmbox
(flash box start with G) and can push RUU inside.
God bless me.
p/s : Sorry I should post in Q&A...

[Q] Stuck on HTC, Can't boot into bootloader

Hello all,
I rooted my HTC One XL a couple weeks back, installed CM10 (all was working fine), and in the process of installing the latest CM10 nightly, something went wrong. Flashed boot.img, then rom, then gapps. Wiped cache and dalvic cache, asked TWRP to restart system. This is where it's stuck now. It won't go past the htc logo, and I can't get into the bootloader by holding down power+vol down.
What did I do wrong? Is this fixable? Any help is greatly appreciated!
H8rift is working on a solution right now. If you can flash back to a backup? I would do so.

First off, can you get into TWRP, and do you have a backups of the time before you flashed the rom. When you hold power+vol down are you holding power until the home back and kill app buttons flash 6 times then release and hold vol down around 7 seconds till you see the screen with android skateboarders(Bootloader)
Second, I think their is a kit (Hasoons) Which you can try to boot you into bootloader or twrp recovery. But if your phone powers on, then i think your device is not a paperweight yet so dont worry to much as i think it can be fixed.

The correct way to get into bootloader is hold power+vol down until screen goes off, then release power button.
If that doesn't work you can try to open bootloader through the fastboot cmd prompt.(if you ahve Win7 just open the file where fastboot is, hold shift+right click and you can open the prompt from there)

It's always best to Nandroid before you flash a ROM.
I didn't and I almost made my phone into a very expensive paperweight. Thank god for RUUs.
I also tried to flash a ROM that was for the international version and not the XL which is our phone.
Mods will eventually Close it, just ingnore the thread and it will be closed soon.
If you want to, I know posting a thread in here can amount to a long wait time, just shoot me a PM and I'll give you my email. I get that directly to my phone so I'll be able to reply a lot quicker.
I have the same problem as this guy, but when I hol the volume down button, it has no effect... I hold vol down and power, lights flash 15 times, I keep holding volume down while phone reboots, but no matter how long I hold it down, it just stays at the HTC legal screen.
Was running CM 10.0, and updated to 10.1 (9-3-2012 nightly) with 3-03-2013 GAPPS, via TWRP. Made a backup before flash, Installed both the zips succefully, pressed reboot, and now it doesn't get past the legal screen, and no button pressing is getting me back to TWRP =(
I replaced the screen once, and the volume buttons behaved differently after I re-assembled. Both the buttons work, but they act differently. Pressing vol down or vol up both bring up the volume dialog, but instead of increasing or decreasing the amount, it swtiches between mute and non mute. So I'm thinking the button is not actually doing a 'volume down' action. Any thoughts?
AND, how do you actually turn this device off? It keeps turning itself back on after the 15 flashes.
Thanks for any help.

[Q] T-Mobile LG G2 stuck in fastboot, can't get into recovery

Update: I messed around with fastboot a bit more and managed to brick it entirely. It's stuck in a boot loop now -- it won't even power off -- and there's nothing I can do about it, so I just took it in to get it replaced.
Hey guys, I know this thread is very similar to others that have been posted, but I've already looked through them and haven't found anything that works for me yet.
My phone was already running rooted stock with TWRP for the recovery. I tried flashing CM10.2 but it was for the wrong model (I downloaded D802 but my phone is of course D801. Oops). Upon reboot, the LG splash screen appeared and then immediately went to a black screen saying
Code:
Fastboot mode started
udc_start()
When I attempt to turn the phone off it just reboots to that screen again. I am still able to use fastboot, and have tried wiping the phone and re-flashing TWRP. It doesn't throw any errors but I still can't actually boot into recovery. I can't use fastboot to flash a new ROM onto the phone though, since it doesn't like .zip archives apparently, and I can't find a .img file of a ROM anywhere.
When I try to use flashtool as described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541087 it says the device is not connected (probably because it's not in download mode?).
Any help would be much appreciated. All I need to do is get into recovery, it shouldn't be this hard.
That's the same error I got a few days ago when I mis-flashed a new recovery (oops. and be careful when you use 'dd', because a typo can nuke your recovery). I'd get that error message if I tried to boot into recovery, but if I just let the phone boot, it would boot fine. It was easy to fix, but that was because I just used Terminal Emulator to re-flash recovery.
Your best bet might be to go back to stock. Try this thread.
similar issue, but not quite

That's the same error I got a few days ago when I mis-flashed a new recovery (oops. and be careful when you use 'dd', because a typo can nuke your recovery). I'd get that error message if I tried to boot into recovery, but if I just let the phone boot, it would boot fine. It was easy to fix, but that was because I just used Terminal Emulator to re-flash recovery.
Your best bet might be to go back to stock. Try this thread.

I'm not in a boot loop, as I can power off and it will stay off. But I am stuck at the Fastboot mode started screen (I can't get download mode to come up). When I do try to get into download mode it flashes for a second, but then goes back to the fastboot mode screen.
I'm hoping to find an image that I can use the fastboot flash recovery command with to re-write my recovery partition.
Any suggestions on where to find this image file? Or am I going down the wrong path?
Thanks,
Joseph
Did you get it to work? I am in the same mode.
I'm stuck here as well. Looking for a fix
Did you guys find a fix? I need help with this...
similar thing here with me
any solution
i cant boot at all, not into download mode, nor recovery,
got this too because i was installing a note3 rom to my d800, acciodentally of coarse. i managed to boot to twrp by doing the power and volume down technique. and from twrp i restored my recent backup
To anyone still stuck in this situation (reboot loop, no recovery etc):
- Unplug the phone from the USB cable
- Hold down the power until the phone turns off
- Wait a couple of minutes with the phone off
- Now hold power and volume down buttons
- When LG logo appears - release power and volume down and hold them again
- When you see a white screen with "reset to default instructions" -- do what it says, meaning pressing the power button a couple of times
THAT should work.

All I did was hold power and volume down until the LG logo came on (not when it flashed for just a split 2nd) and then pressed and held power down again and it came to the white screen. Then I pressed power 3 times and got into recovery

Not sure if you've tried this. To power off fully, press and hold the volume down and power buttons. Do not let go of the buttons. The phone should turn off and the LG logo should appear. Continue holding until after the LG logo disappears. The phone should be fully off and won't turn back on at this point. If you don't see the LG logo, just keep the buttons pressed for about 10-15 seconds and you should be fully powered off by then. You should be able to enter download mode from here (press and hold volume up button while plugging in USB from computer). If you are able to enter download mode, then use the LG mobile support tool in my thread and follow the instructions. This should flash the latest stock system to your phone. If that doesn't work, I have a link to an alternate method for flashing the latest stock system on your phone. Hope this helps.

i tried like this:
1. First of all turn off the device by holding the Power button.
2. Afterwards hold down the Volume Up and Volume Down button for a couple of seconds.
3. While holding these buttons press the Power button for a short while.
4. Release held keys when you see an Andoid image.
5. Then press the Camera button to enter Recovery Mode.
and noting. there is no android image.
and also when i press and hold power+ volume up the phone turn on and then after 2-3 sec the phone vibrate 3 time.

Power down your device.
Press and hold POWER + VOLUME DOWN
After the Sony logo disappears, release the POWER button and continue to hold VOLUME DOWN for 3 seconds.
This will allow you to boot to recovery.

I may have given you incorrect steps and that's my fault. I was reading about a different device. My bad. Try this:
Power off your device.
Press and hold VOLUME UP + POWER at the same time.
Release all buttons when the Sony Xperia C3 screen flickers and in a few seconds the Recovery screen will appear.
You can also try this:
Reboot your phone, as it's rebooting, press volume down + power. You should then see the Android robot after restart, release buttons and press camera shutter.?

Okay, quick question. Have you installed a custom recovery? If not, your device was not shipped with a stock recovery in and therefore you will not be able to boot into recovery.

Do something for me first... Let's make sure your ADB fastboot is working properly.
If your device will boot normally, navigate to DEVELOPER OPTIONS and make sure you have enabled USB DEBUGGING.
Next, open a COMMAND PROMPT window and type:
adb devices
If the adb daemon is not running, you will see the COMMAND PROMPT say that it is starting the daemon on a certain port number.
Type this again:
adb devices
Your COMMAND PROMPT should return with a list of attached devices with your serial number.
Next, type this:
adb reboot bootloader
If it's working properly you should be booted into the bootloader and your LED should be a solid blue.
If you want to boot to the bootloader with the hard keys then do this:
Power off your device
Connect the USB cable to your PC
Press and hold POWER UP and plug in the USB cable to your device while still holding POWER UP.
This should boot you into the bootloader with a solid blue LED.
Let me know if these steps are working and post back with what you find

yes this works. i mean the volume up and usb cable let me go into bootloader. i see blue led and device is on debuging mode but i am unable to get into the device since i forgot the pass code.
this is why i want to get into recovery. i want to wipe data so the pass code will be removed.
beacuse of the pass code i cannot send adb commands through the lock screen.
anyway, there is somthing i can do to wipe data or flash a new rom or remove passcode through bootloader? (the black screen with the blue led)
