Yes and no.
Yes that most of the hardware would be supported no problem.
No as in there has not been any way to replace or run a different OS with Android aside from a vnc client.
not that i know of.

JUST PURCHASED a NEXBOOK Premium 8 preloaded ICS

Hi,
I have recently purchased a new NEXTBOOK Premium 8 it doesn't give me the option to set a static ip on this device.
On all other devices that are running ics the option in modify network displays show advanced options but on this nextbook you don't have those options.
Could someone tell me whether I need to root this device to get this functionality?
or if there is another way around this issue.
many thanks

Windows 8 pro - in or out ?

I have been using windows 8 Developer preview for quite some time...It is smooth and snazzy .But the main problem i am facing is some of the 3rd party applications i used before in windows 7 doesn't work on it . Overall the experience is good and native applications load up quite fast..But what i wanted to ask was Should windows 8 be given some more time to flourish and do u see urself developing apps for Windows 8 which as Microsoft justify is a very lucrative Market ?
I think windows 8 is ugly and cluttered I will not be upgrading. Maybe windows 9 if they get back on track. If not I'm going to be using windows 7 / linux for a long time.

IN!
I'm in. I have it running on an older machine like a champ and then my tablet runs it as well. The new interface is eons better for mobile devices than desktop, I'll give it that. Still funky for desktops though.

Video screen cap

As a bit of a newbie to android (last played with a Desire running a Gingerbread os 12 months+ ago)... I found the vol+power screen cap short cut, but is there a similar thing for video capture or do I need an app?

You'll need an app unless you're using developer software with your Android device plugged in to your PC. Android 4.4 KitKat comes with built-in abilities to record your display as a video, but again, you'll need desktop software to do that - free, mind you: Android SDK and in the DDMS panel in Android Studio
