Hi all,
First of all, i'd like to thank all active members on the subforum "Desire S" of xda dev.
I've bought recently a HTC DESIRE S (branded as VODAFONE if i see correctly the logo at boot, and the cid means it's a VODAFONE.DE)
(1) I can succesfully root the phone with the zergRush & misc_version.
But once, i want to RUU my device to get a lower hboot version.
I keep getting error 131 from the RUU.
Here's the fastboot getvar all
C:\Documents and Settings\tst>fastboot getvar all

or
RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed
And i keep getting ERROR 131 WRONG ID.
I tried to set CID to 11111111 but i can't "write" the cid to the phone.
Whataimdoingwrong?
If someone would give me ideas or solutions, i'd be thankful.
(2)
Currently the HTC DESIRE S is running the "stock" firmware i guess.
Android: 2.3.5
HTC Sense: 3.0
Software Ver.: 2.10.161.3
The stock firmware is really nice, and fit to my need. But i encounter a very annoying problem the wireless interface.
The wireless interface can active one time. And then can't activate later, keep getting "Error" as Wireless status, and sometimes the phone crashes and reboots. . I googled and found out some "workaround" like disabling the CDMA and just using GSM mode.
It doesn't work. So is it a hardware issue (which i doubt) ?
That s why i want to downgrade my hboot to be able to CM7.1 and see if the wireless driver/kernel is better or not.
TIA,
jch

You need to create a goldcard to install a RUU which is not meant for your phone.
Things you will need and to do
-A memory card (preferable a spare one), and also preferable smaller that 2GB
-Backup all the info on the memory card, we will be formatting it!
Step 1) Get memory card CID and goldcard image-Insert the memory card you wish to make into a goldcard into the phone.
-Go to Settings/SD and Phone storage on the phone and select 'unmount SD card'. Once the card is unmounted select 'Erase SD card'.
-Download and install 'Goldcard Helper' from the market.
-The app will run and give two CID's which are all ready reversed, write down the mmc2 number.
-Go to psas.revskills.de website here and enter your mmc2 CID and download the goldcard image (goldcard.img).
Step 2) Create the Goldcard-Download 'HxD-Hex-Editor' from here and install it on your PC.
-Connect the phone to the PC in 'disk mode' i.e. view your SD card on the PC (Removable Disk).
-Open the Hex Editor (Run as Administrator if Vista/Windows 7)
-Select the 'Extra' tab and then 'Open Disk'. Under Physical Disk select your Removable Disk (your SD cad) and ensure 'Open as Read Only' is not selected and then select OK.
-Now goto the 'Extra' tab again and select 'Open Disk Image' and select the 'goldcard.img' file you downloaded early (Step 1). Press OK when prompted for Sector Size 512.
-You will now have two tabs open, one the SD card and the other the goldcard image, now to merge the two
-Go to the the goldcard.img tab and select 'Edit' then 'Select All' then 'Edit' and 'Copy'.
-Now go the you SD card tab and highlight offset 00000000 to 000000170 , and then 'Edit' and 'Paste'
-Lastly goto 'File' and select 'Save'
Allll Done......

Goldcard created and i try to put 1.28.401.1, when i power off the phone and rebooting in recovery "Power & Vol. down " choosing recovery the phone screen hangs on a black screen with a htc phone a red triangle.
I really need help :/
Btw my bootloader is stated as "LOCKED".
Do i have to unlock it through HTCdev.com ?
@jchverviers
Take a step back and make sure your head is on straight..... do some reading!
To install the RUU connect your phone to PC (leave on charge mode) and run the RUU.exe from the PC, DO NOT TRY FLASH IT IN RECOVERY.
If that doesn't work we will try extracting the rom.zip and remaing it to PG88IMG.zip.
The recovery you are seeing is the STOCK recovery, you can press the vol keys/power button so see the menu in there (can't remember exactly).
So to start, get shell root, change misc version to 1.28.401.1, then run the RUU.
________________________
If I am confused on what you are trying to say please be clear and specific, cause in post 1 you are running the ruu correctly, but now it seems you are trying to flash it in recovery, why are you even trying to get into recovery?

i got shell root, changed to misc_versino 1.28.401.1, then running RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1_Radio_20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11_M_release_177977_signed.exe and after the process i ended up with
my phone black screen and "HTC" white logo, and for the RUU.exe i got the same error as i started this thread "ERROR[131]: ERROR ID CLIENT"
What should i do now?
@jchverviers
Then you never created your goldcard correctly or try a different card.
You can try my extract the rom.zip from the RUU and placing it on your SDcard, then rename it to PG88IMG.zip amd boot into the bootloader to install the RUU.
Actually, there are times you need to flash stock recovery PRIOR to installing the RUU. I guess that's what I've learnt from repetitive RUU installations.

Just got your replacement/refurbed/new mytouch and notice it is near impossible to root it right? This is what I did and it worked flawlessly(In about 10-15 minutes depending on if you have the drivers for adb etc already set up).
DISCLAIMER: BY FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE YOU AGREE I AM IN NO FAULT WHATSOEVER FOR YOUR BRICKED DEVICE
WHAT YOU NEED: A goldcard(Guide below), mytouch 32b with SPL 1.33.0007 and any 32b radio
CREATING A GOLDCARD:
******NEW METHOD************
There seems that there is an application that does it for you now, download this, extract it, and then follow the directinos in the read me. I haven't tested it so I will leave the original guide up as well REMEMBER TO FORMAT FROM WITHIN THE PHONE.
1. Put your designated goldcard in your phone, click unmount, then click format(This step seems to be important, I'm thinking it must be the lost.dir folder the phone automatically puts in the sd after formatting)
2. Input these commands:
cd\
cd\NameOfYourAndroidSDKFolder\tools
adb devices(Should show your serial number)
adb shell
cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
A long list of numbers will pop up WRITE THEM DOWN SOMEWHERE EASY TO ACCESS THIS IS IMPORTANT IT IS 100% ACCURATE
3. Go to the goldcard website and input the cid you copied down, then clock the submit button. You will get your reversed cid now COPY THAT DOWN IN THE SAME PLACE AS WELL, PREFERABLY WHERE YOU WROTE DOWN THE ORIGINAL CID.
4. Now go here and fill out the information(MAKE SURE YOU INPUT THE REVERSED CID WITH THE FIRST TWO NUMBERS BEING ZERO). Click create goldcard and let it do its job.
5. Go to your email and download the goldcard.img, and then download this hex editor. Install it after downloading.
6. Take the card you want to make into a goldcard and put it in a usb sd card reader, or a sd card port with an sd card adapter(Either or is fine) so that it shows up as removable disk.
7. Open up the hex editor(Run as admin to make sure nothing goes wrong), click extras, and then click on open disk. Then uncheck in the bottom of the page "open as read only", after that click on your removable disk UNDER PHYSICAL DISK!!!!!!! Click ok when asked for 512 sector size.
8. Click the extras tab again, then click on open disk image, and navigate to your goldcard.img. Click open and it will show the goldcard in a new tab. Highlight the whole image then click on edit then select all. Then go back to your removable disk tab and click edit, then paste. Click save and then close the hex editor. Goldcard is now CREATED! To test it click eject and then put the card back in, if done correctly you should be able to open up the card to add files to it. Okay now that that's done get a beverage of your choice and get ready for the fun part.
ROOTING THE PHONE:
1) Download your sappimg, stock radio, recovery of choice(I would use Amun Ra'sor Kousches clockwork recovery.) and SPL of choice(I used engineerings1.33.2005 spl linked here).
2) Okay after you download all of those, place the recovery and radio in the tools folder of your AndroidSDK, naming them each something you will remember(name the recovery, "recovery", and the radio, "radio", to make it simple). After all of that place the sappimg on the root of your sdcard and the SPL there as well, name it "update.zip" to make it simpler on you.
OPTIONAL: Download the splash screen of your choice and place it in the tools section as well, naming it splash.rgb565 or splash.nb(Whichever file extension it gives you), I made my own with this
3) Power down your device, then turn it on holding volume down and power, let the phone load up the sappimg, and then let it do the upgrade IF IT DOES NOT WORK YOUR CARD YOU FORMATTED TO BE A GOLDCARD MORE THAN LIKELY SIMPLY CANNOT BE FORMATTED FOR THAT PURPOSE.
4) After it asks you if you want to reboot, reboot your device, notice it says HTC magic now, it's cool. Pull your battery out then place it back in, turn your phone on into fastboot by holding down the back and power button, then plug into usb chord(The device might turn on automatically after pulling the battery and reinserting it., don't panic pull the battery again and this time hold the back button as you place the battery back in).
5) Go into CMD prompt and intput these commands:
cd\
cd\AndroidSDK\tools(the name of AndroidSDK varied depending on what you have it named as under the root of your c drive, I renamed it to make it easier)
fastboot devices
Your serial number should pop up, awesome take a sip of that preferred beverage, then input these commands
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
OPTIONAL: fastboot flash splash1 splash.rgb565(or splash.nb wichever file extension it gives you)(this is only if you want to change your splash screen)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Alright if you replaced the splash screen on the phone you will see it there, pull the battery out again though then place it back in this time turn it back on holding home and power to enter recovery(The device might turn on automatically after reinserting the battery, don't panic pull the battery again and this time hold the home button as you place the battery back in).
6) Download the rom of your choice, I suggest Cyanogen 4.2.15.1 for a 1.6 based rom, and his 5.0.7 test for a 2.1 rom.
7) In recovery click on "usb toggle" if you chose amun ras recovery, if you downloaded clockword recovery(My daily driver for recovery images) click on the partitions menu then mount usb place the roms of the root of your sd card, eject/safely remove your sd, then return to the recovery menu
8: Final step!!! First wipe all 5 options in the wipe menu, or for clockword click wipe user data, then wipe cache partition, then go under advanced and click on wipe battery stats. Then flash the SPL, notice it says it requires a reboot, no biggie click reboot device on the home screen of your phone and it should take you back to recovery, after that click flash zip from sd, and flash the rom you selected, then click reboot.
There it is, yes it is a rough guide yes it isn't quite perfect. I am open to suggestions to speed up the process, but it is rock solid.
CREDITS GO TO: xda for having all the links I needed, and slight information, I got the splash screen creator from theunlockrs guide as well. theunlockr.com for the goldcard guide, I implemented it here so you didn't have to go anywhere else.
UPDATE: MAY 7th/10th - implemented the goldcard guide into the OP so you don't have to go to any external links not needed. Fixed a crucial typo, and added clockword mod to guide
awesome. I tried to root a friend of mine's and it had this SPL.. even made a godlcard and it didnt work.. So at leas I have something else to try now lol
yeah man i tried EVERYTHING to root my sisters, then while rooting my 1.2 again to chnge the splash i was like maybe i can implement the 1.2 guide and viola it worked lol.

I read somewhere than Sandisks have issues as a goldcard... with that said I used a Sandisk for my goldcard and it worked however I created the goldcard from Linux:
- Open a shell as root in your Linux.
- Connect your phone to the USB and activate the mount option from the notification bar.
- From Linux type 'dmesg'
The last message will show the device of your Android phone (for me it was /dev/sdb). Use the following command to create your goldcard:
dd if=goldcard.img of=/dev/sdb bs=384 count=1
That's it! Your goldcard is done and you didn't even remove the SD card from your phone

Hi i was trying the sappimg.zip into fastboot but after it updates it fails saying "wrong id number" and i am using mt3g 32B runing on 1.0 do you know of another one for my id number
You have to be using a goldcard, the link to create one is in the original post, just updated it.
Goldcard method still not working...
Code:
Sapphire PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0007 (SAPP30000)
CPLD-10
RADIO-2.22.23.02

Now I find it weird that everywhere I've searched to get my mytouch rooted, everyone has a different stock radio installed. Anyways, I've tried two gold cards unsuccessfully. I followed the gold card howto's exactly: first on a 128 MB SanDisk, then tonight a 2 GB Kingston SD card. Both cards load fine and give me no errors after pasting the goldcard image on them.
As far as sappimg's, I've tried 2.53.707.2, 2.16.707.3, 2.16.151.1, the 96.03 MB sappimg.nbh from various places, the crc24-1.33.0007 img, and any other I could find.... even going as far as redownloading the same sized files from other locations. I finally stumbled upon this thread and hoped that you guys had a better sappimg I could use, but alas this guide uses the first one that I used...
My constant error is "Model ID incorrect! Update Fail!" I've been trying to find out what exactly it means, but noone seems to know for sure, other than I need to try something else...
I have rooted before, and managed not to brick my phone through various roms, radio updates, etc, so I'm by no means a noob at this. But apparently I'm a klutz and couldn't keep my phone from dropping and breaking my LCD, thereby needing a replacement... I just hope I can get this thing rooted in time for Cyanogen's Stable version of CM5! Please help!!!
Am I really the ONLY person that has had success with this method? I tried it quick fast n easy in ten minutes before I went into work and it worked flawlessly lol.
I am pretty sure mine is up and running with this method... Big thanks, but now i have to figure out how to add my market, gmail, etc... running 2.1
Grrr. Speaker isn't working, only speakerphone and mic.

The only thing that I'd like to add to the guide is, you have to unzip the radio.img from radio.zip, otherwise you get an error (writing 'radio' ... FAILED (remote: image update error)).

No issues with your ear piece speaker not working? What ROM did you flash with?
I think it must have something to do with my HBOOT. I noticed that I have the most recent, or at least newer radio than most of you trying to root your 1.33.0007. All the guides I've seen mentions upgrading the radio to what I already have.
The sappimg shouldn't have any radio files in it, right? I'm just tired of wasting my time going through the process... if anyone has a verifiable working goldcard, i'll be willing to trade both of my SD cards and pay for shipping if you're interested. Maybe I am doing something wrong when creating my goldcard, but none of the guides give much insight as to if I'm doing it wrong. It just says take it out and plug it back in to see if Windows recognizes it. And do note that I'm running XP, so I don't have to run the hexed as an admin. All help is appreciated; thanks!
ill trade you, confirmed to root my mytouch1.2 and the phone that started this thread lol. pmd you

I started with: SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32B SHIP S-ON G, hboot-1.33.0007, cpld-10, radio-2.22.19.26I
After: SAPPHIRE PVT 32B ENG S-OFF H, HBOOT-1.33.2010, CPLD-20, Radio-2.22.23.02
I made a few mistakes - so perhaps you can update your tut:

"flash the spl" wasn`t very clear for a beginner. I had to "flash zip from sdcard", use the signed danger spl "update.zip" and NOT reboot manually - ONLY with the menu item "reboot"! - then the same Recovery menu should and you can flash the choosen ROM.

Updated to version 1.51.
Added: Conversion of BMP images to ready-to-flash splash files on all 3 systems.
Modified: Graphical layout is now more in sync in all 3 systems.
Modified: All tooltips are now corrected and fully helpful :0)
Hi everyone.
This is a tool written in JAVA for easier flashing of the following partitions:
Radio, hboot/spl, recovery, system, boot, userdata, kernel and splash.
It can do much more, like:
Conversion of 24bit BMP images to ready-to-flash splash files.
Erase/wipe multiple or single partitions.
Reboot device either to system or fastboot.
Print of device info.
Flash of kernel.
Possible to run custom fastboot commands instead of using cmd/shell.
Flash of signed zip files (E.g. fastboot flash zip myzip.zip)
The above(Flash of signed zip) should not to be confused with flashing of custom rom files!
It's only ment for signed HTC roms with complete system layout.
Flash multiple files in one click by using custom folders and tags.
It's basically a GUI over most fastboot commands.
It works for Windows, Linux and Mac.
No need for Android SDK, the jar-file has all needed files bundled!
It's well tested and have more than +10000 users.
It works for all devices which has fastboot :0)
Any feedback is appreciated.
Requirements:
Min 30 % battery!
Engineering hboot/spl OR S-OFF!
Do not reboot or shutdown, if you ever get an error flashing the radio or the hboot/spl!
Ask here for help if it happens!
HOW-TO:
1. Extract FastbootCommanderV1.51.zip anywhere you like.
(A folder named "Tools" will be made with the right OS system files in same directory as the jar file. So make sure that you have write permissions)
2. Boot your phone into fastboot.
3. Connect it to your PC via USB.
Windows:
4. Run FastbootCommanderV1.51.jar or WinRun.bat.
5. Enjoy the app.
Linux:
4. Enable execute permission for the LinuxRun script
5. Run the script or double click on the jar-file.
7. Enjoy the app.
NB: Check this out to make the device work without the use of sudo: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...1&postcount=26
Or use sudo to run the script if you get any problems...
Automatic detection of files upon startup:
If you want to have the files automatically recognized under startup, then do following:
(A good thing to have when you have been playing around with different roms)
1) If you want to have hboot, radio and recovery files recognized, put them in a folder named: "IMGFiles" in the same folder as the Tools folder (generated in different location depending on the OS).
"IMGFiles" is case-sensitive.
Make sure that they have right name tags, e.g.
For a hboot file the name should contain the "hboot" word. Like this hboot-1.76.2007Desire.img
Another example:
recovery-RA-sapphire-v1.7.0 is correct name for a recovery file.
2) If you want to have boot, system and userdata files recognized, put them in a folder named: "Nandroid" in the same folder as the Tools folder (generated in different location depending on the OS).
"Nandroid" is case-sensitive.
Make sure that they have right name tags, e.g.
For a system file the name should contain the "system" word. Like this: system-backupDesire2010-10-28.img
Another example:
boot-backupDesire2010-10-28 is correct name for a boot file.
Conversion of BMP file to splash file:
BMP image conversion requires a BMP image with 24 bit depth. No other image format or resolution will work...
Also, make sure that the BMP has the right width and height for your device. (Desire = 480x800, Magic/sapphire=320x480 )

Please, keep the threads separate. I have answered you on the Desire HD thread. This thread is for Desire only.
Great tool indeed, I have used it for a long time for flashing hboots and radios.
But how can I flash a kernel? Same method? Also, how can I know that the process was successful? Does it take longer to boot for the first time?
Thanks in advance.

There is a kernel tab :0)
The process is successful if it boots and no major FCs. Remember to make a nandroid backup before you try other kernels.
I know there is a kernel tab. I'm just asking for the booting time after flashing, because I tried it once and I had to pull the battery after 1 hour of nothing.
I am having some issues. I can only get into the Hboot/fastboot screen, I can not get into recovery. My phone used to be rooted and I believe by what it says below I am not anymore. Is there a way to root it through this fastboot program? so I can get my phone working again? Do I need to go the gold card method? Your help is much appreciated.

Your answer is in the last part: your phone is S-ON, thus you cannot use this tool. First, you need to S-Off. Click on the S-Off link in my signature and follow the steps written there.

Using the version nr, download a RUU with the same version (i do not recommend a RUU with a higher a version, maybe it has enhanced security features). Flash it while in fastboot mode. Restart and use unrevoked to get root and custom recovery and ect.... Basically follow the s-off link provided by Pipusz ;0)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but RUU shouldn't be like starting an application on your computer? I don't think fastboot is needed here, but then again, I might be wrong. Check the link in my signature, it is a good tutorial including flashing a RUU.

You are semi right. The RUU will always restart the device into fastboot and start the flash process. But the RUU is an exe file... you just run it and it will take care of the rest.. But again.. is it for your device id? Also, your version nr is 1.88.531.1. and you are updating to version 3.12.531.1... it that not a big jump?
I found the right RUU version .... I have been trying the s-off link and the videos aren't there and not all the steps are in the tutorial.....
Updated to ver.1.51
Enjoy :0)

Will this tool work on other devices like the Desire HD?

I've looked every I'm running insert coin ics rom for the HTC sensation. The charger and the usb data slot is snapped i can charge but cant flash from the comp. Or read data from the phone.
I need to unroot from the microsd card back to stock ics in uk orange is this poss?? As i need my warranty back please help
I've found this post -
METHOD 2 - ENG HBOOT
Now the method I found to debrand (rather than messing about with CIDs), is using an ENG HBOOT, this is only temporary as the ROM we flash later on overwrites it.
Grab the file below (thanks to Bin4ry), and put it in the root of your SD Card. (i.e. if your on Windows, X:/ [where X is the letter of your Sensation's SD Card])

Flash ENG HBOOT
1. EITHER:
1a. Shut down your phone, then take out your battery and put it back in.
OR:
1b. Make sure fastboot is disabled in settings and shut down your phone (This can be done via Settings > Power> Untick "FAST BOOT" at the bottom.)
2. Keep hold of the volume down button and switch your phone on.
3. When it asks "Do you want to start the update", press Volume Up to accept
5. Press Power Off to reboot back to normal homescreen
6. Remove PG58IMG.zip from your memory card
Download an RUU
1. You now need to pick the RUU you wish to flash, a good source is this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1074559
To debrand my Vodafone Sensation, I chose "RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1_Radio_10.43a.90 0 7.00U_10.51.9007.27_M3_release_198179_signed"
2. Once you have downloaded the RUU you would like to flash, run it (it can take a while to load), and stop when you get the welcome screen, which has a picture of a Sensation on the left and a red caution notice on the right.
3. Move this window out of the way (it forces itself into foreground), then open up windows explorer and go to:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp
4. Then sort by Date Modified. Find the newest folder with a long random sequence of numbers as its name, go in here and you should see, three files and a folder: corecomp, dotnetinstaller, IBSEW64. (the files may be different on 32-bit OS), now go into the folder which has another long random name.
In there amongst a lot of files (use search if you need to), you will find rom.zip. This is the rom we want to flash!
5. Copy the rom.zip file to the root of your SD Card
(i.e. if your on Windows, X:/ [where X is the letter of your Sensation's SD Card])
6. Rename the rom.zip you just put on your SD Card, to PG58IMG.zip (ensure you do not rename it to PG58IMG.zip.zip or it wont work!)
7. Find the "HTC Android ROM Update Utility" Window, and hit Cancel.
THIS IS YOUR LAST OPPORTUNITY TO BACKUP DATA, ALL EXISTING DATA, CONTACTS, MESSAGES SETTINGS, APPS, ETC, WILL BE DELETED AFTER THE NEXT STEP.
MAKE SURE THE BATTERY INDICATOR IN THE NOTIFICATION AREA SHOWS GREEN, NOT ORANGE OR RED, BEFORE CONTINUING.
Flash RUU (rom.zip)
1. EITHER:
3. When it asks "Do you want to start the update", press Volume Up to accept (this can take a while and its normal for the system part to appear to go in a loop several times)
5. Press Power Off to reboot to first time setup.
6. Your phone is now debranded!
7. Remove PG58IMG.zip from your memory card

The only solution I know to revert to stock is in step 5 THIS guide , but it requires a connection with the PC. The guide you find isn't for your problem, if I understand well. Have a read here also to understand why you can't revert to stock without PC connection. sorry I can't help more
P.S If you want to turn it back for repairs don't worry too much, they usually never check if you are rooted. Just install a custom ROM that looks like stock and change your boot image to the Orange one
Well that's the best idea I think what rom ics looks the most like stock.

Not sure whether the file can be converted to exe file or not. The following steps are how I did it.
1) Download the file. (PL99IMG_DLXB1_U_JB_45_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.12.707.1_R_Radio_3A.22.306.10_10.07.1060.04D_release_signed.zip)
2) Rename the file to PL99IMG.zip
3) Copy PL99IMG.zip to root directory of external SD Card
4) Insert the SD Card into HTC Butterfly
5) Boot in HBoot and just follow instructions.
P/S : I relock my phone before flashing the zip file.

4.4.2 With a PC, via fastboot USB
You will need sdk & and drivers, please take a look here. If you already have it, continue.
Reboot to bootloader by Holding Vol down + Power button
Connect your phone to the PC while in the bootloader. The phone should say fastboot USB, if not, select fastboot on the phone & check if it says fastboot USB, if not, change the USB port you are using.
Navigate to the platform tools folder located inside android-sdk folder
Copy the PL99IMG.zip file from step 4.1 to this folder
Hold down shift and right-click anywhere in the empty space inside the window.
Enter the following command
Code:
fastboot erase cache
You may not see any output, then enter the command
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
You phone will now go into the RUU mode.
Wait for around 30 seconds, then enter the command
Code:
fastboot flash zip PL99IMG.zip
The installation will begin and you will be able to see the progress at every step.
Once done, enter the command
Code:
fastboot reboot
If you experience a boot loop, repeat 4.4.2 again.

MY device was a HTL21 HTC J buttery , but not come with the original bootloader
It was deluxe UB1 not Deluxe J, and flashed a TW ported rom
So. if I flash a japan RUU , it is ok, but then I will reboot again & again...(This is also the reason that I get into the trouble , beause I flash a japan RUU)
If I flash a TW RUU then It say it is not for this model & stop.
If I flash a custom TW rom, then it can start the system, for 1 min then it will force close and reboot.
So, I think if I flash the radio.img or maybe also the hboot, then flash the TW ported rom than It should work.
But I can't flash a TW RUU, I must flash the radio and hboot in fastboot, so I need to unzip the file .........
I think the problem because I have a japan radio (may be also the hboot)
I already bring the device to the shop for repair, but I'm not sure they can fix it.
Anyway, thanks

Hi there.
After surfing all the possible forums, apply all recipes, failing all tries (with the complete reinstallations afterwards), I decided to ask, cause I am in the mood to crash the (physically) the phone.
I have a Desire S with the official WWE ICS 4.0.4.
I want to keep the official ICS and become root. Because I want to get rid of all the built-in apps I do not use; Chat Fb, Dropbox, etc.
Is there a way?
All the tutorials tried failed.
My phone is unlocked (officially via HTCDev).
When booted with Vol Down+Power this the information.

Spent 3 hours for this post :fingers-crossed:
Thanks for your post, azithro.
I am in the middle of something hairy. When I had some rest (last week I spent more time with the bootloader and installing/deleting stuff), I'll read carefully all the instructions, be sure of understanding them, and I'll do it.
Thanks again for your effort. I really appreciate it.

Sure bro, hope you successfully do that.

It worked perfectly. After achieving root I installed Clean Master and I could get rid of all the rubbishware installed with the ROM.
I began after the unlocking point as I had already the phone unlocked and everything went as smooth as silk.
Thanks again.
