whats the best launcher for imilka's AOSP ICS Tablet UI - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Themes and Apps

As title fellows, I love the tablet UI, it totally what meant to be our Note, but ICS in our Note is still under development, stock UI is kind of buggy.
So whats your choice of Launcher in the case?
I am using Nova at the moment, not perfect, but good enough.

Apex launcher is the best so far for ics rom, a lot option to customise and it's free..

Ditto on the Apex. Its the most full featured ICS only launcher, and its completely free! (None of that $4 garbage for two extra features)

I usually just let stuff like this go.... But did this joker actually just suggest Touch Wiz is the best launcher.... On AOSP??
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

i'm curious - how are apex or nova better than go or adw? they're ICS-specific, but what do they bring on the table than older ones don't?

apex... i tried all launchers.

Apex is the best

Edit:
And persistent google search bar

Is there a TW launcher that works on imilka's AOSP rom? I wasn't a big fan of TW when I was on GB! but now that I don't have it, I kinda miss it! (weird, huh? lol)

TW launcher is only for Samsung based ROMS (TRR and MIDNOTE). It won't owrk with AOSP based ROMS (AOSP, AOKP, CNA).

Come on, TW has really nice and handy features you can't find in Apex, like slide right to call or left to send a message, and creating folders in the app drawer! I also miss double tapping home button to launch voice talk. I know these features are not TW launcher-related, but they're part of the TW package!

Used Nova for a while but APEX has surpassed it by a country mile. +1 for APEX

Apex doesent work on my galaxy note with tablet UI

I use nova luncher for a while, buyed nova prime and it runs like a charm, but it had some issues in the appdrawer with dpi under 280. When i grap an app for example youtube on the second page, it graps not the youtube app, it takes one from the first page.

Apex is simply better, smoother, etc than Nova.
At the moment Apex is the best Launcher for ICS on the Note as far as I can tell.

Hi Guys,
is there any way to have the dock with the tablet UI ?
I'm missing some features from the dock, e.g. the sms unread count ?
Thanks

+1 to that..i really AM missing the docs, although right now, the bottom part of my screen is dedicated to apps taht would normally be in the dock, which means each `screen' in a `page' of what would otherwise be the dock etc.

Digging for current data as to which launchers are the most used. Seems there may have been a shift in the past month or so.
Wow....more votes for stock/rosie than I would have guessed.
Not as much of a following for ADW EX as I had expected. Sounded like it was taking off.

I really wish it was a way for stock to have 5 options like launcher pro. That would make stock the number 1 launcher. I'm sure it many others who would like to see that one day.
i like Launcher Pro Plus the best. the way im able to hide icons/notification bar/etc and also do swipe gestures, diggin it!
I've been using Launcher Pro Plus ever since it first came out, and haven't really tried anything else. The number one thing that makes it better than stock for me is the scrolling dock.
I would try ADW or Go, but I'm too lazy to set up all my screens again.

I agree but I like sense widgets and launcher pro widgets I just would like to use both like have two facebook and twitter accounts setup one for sense and one for lp. It's like a business setup and a personal setup lol. I just wish stock had the five options in the dock like launcher pro

I never retired adw besides in cm6 what's different in.the new ex? Does it have anything LPP doesn't have?

I have used LP, LPP, Stock, ADW, and ADW Ex.
LP and LPP are smoother than ADW, which is smoother than Stock.
ADW Ex has been the smoothest over all for me tho, I have had zero issues with it.
I haven't heard of Zeam or Go, but the other 2 I have tried i didn't really care for were Panda and Open Home.

i've been using adw ex for the past month or so, it's fully customizable. and i had just paid for launcher pro plus.. only thing i miss is the calendar widget but other than that, it's super fast, smooth, stable, never force closes, and so on. just a great launcher replacement.

Lol, I mean I like my icon layouts and am too lazy to recreate them in a new launcher.
I love ADW EX, but he has to implement the ability to change the dock background. The transitions on cm7 are just wicked.
I was a HUGE LP homer until ex dropped, but once the LP re-write is out, if ADW still doesn't have the option to chaneg the background then I'm afraid I'll be going back to LP. The only thing I miss other than that is the bookmark swipe ability..the market has everything else.

I'm not crazy about the LPP widgets. There are free ones on the market which are just as good or better in my opinion so can live without those (only ones I even use are calendar and contacts).
One question.....I read from someone that ADW EX doesn't have customizable dock background pics. Is this true?

I've tried ADW (regular and EX) and while I really, really like the performance and tweaks, I keep coming back to LPP for the speed and widgets.
Hmm. Maybe I'll try EX again, now that I think about it....

I'm using Launcher Pro and i love it. Its clean and simple and the scrollable 5 icon dock is amazingly useful in eliminating screen clutter. I used launcher pro icons to download the ones i didnt have and now it looks slicker than ever. I'd used the free version on 2 older phones and now on the full version (only difference is being able to resize widgets and usse LP+ widgets, both which did not affect the user experience). Also great to be able to adjust animation performance and such.
I would say go launcher ex all the wayyyyyy
The touchwiz from the market is a really good imitation. Only stock touchwiz is supported by hardware acceleration, which makes it incredibly smooth.
I really like pure breeze. Having the kite anywhere on the phone is amazing. Somewhat simliar to wave launchers usefulness.

Why do people keep saying that? it stutters. It Jumps. The only REALLY SMOOTH launcher is launcher pro.
Guess it depends on how many widget and background apps you have running. Mine has always been silky smooth. No jumps or skips ever.
Edit: I'm on a ogsgsii. No lag here
But I agree that launcher pro is amazing.

DesireS Launchers

Flash cm7 into my DesireS and got adw.launcher
Then installed go.launcher from market, it seems to run smoother, especially when scrolling through app drawer.
Any1 experience this as well?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well let's sum it up with all the replies on this thread.
If you are tired of looking at the same launcher and want something different
without having to flash a whole different rom everytime u get bored you could try the following.
Action Launcher
ADW
Apex
FTL
Go Launcher
Holo
Nova
Nemus
Many of the above gives you an 'ICS feel' except for adw,ftl and go.
Or if you want something like Win 8 might be ur liking.
*You can always force stop(freeze with TB) built in launcher if you are worried about it taking up ur ram.
FTL, try that!

Or go the whole hog and install Reaper ROM
What launcher do you need? Feature rich of fast? First - Go Launcher, second - ADW or FTL.
Apex is also good but FTL is the best choice in terms of speed and customization.

FTL for me everytime
have tried ADW and Go launcher but FTL is the one I like the most, would like to know eventually how top theme and change stuff myself to personalise it for me.
This launcher seems faster and easier to modify and has loads of other options, the ability to use other themes (styles) and is really fast.
Apex, has everything, but applicable on ICS roms
Swyped from my DesireS
using sense 4.0a, maybe switch to "go" later
I used Apex in ms Fallout Rom. Looks great my favorite launcher
Gesendet von meinem HTC Desire S mit Tapatalk 2
On GB I was using the Nemus launcher. He is quick and doesn't use a lot ram.
On ICS I was using Apex, but he was FCing a lot with the unofficial AOKP rom. So I'm now using Nova. I just love the ICS style, so I never gone back.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app
Apex launcher works only on 4.0 and above and its way better. It has more features than the stock launcher.:good:
If :
you are on ics go with nova or apex
you like speed go with FTL from lowveld( our top dev)
you like bloat go with go launcher
you can try holo launcher, cool for me
Stock JellyBean launcher is awesome

IMO Apex on ICS is the best, also run out on top of sense 4.0A roms.
if you go in that direction then I'd recommend that you check out the newly released app in development section that permit's you to use the sense lock screen and have working lock screen short cuts with apex launcher

Apex is the best I've tried by far, and it's worth buying the Pro version.

Yes I use apex launcher and it makes the whole home screen pretty much lag free very smooth and take away much of the TW overlay!!!

Multi-screen also works on Nova
My vote is for go launcher hd for pad (in beta).......loving those gestures and im also lovin the real estate
*For a more stable and faster launcher try Nova
Using Apex Launcher with a Jelly Bean theme for that stock feel. Apex is my personal favorite becuase of Overlapping Widgets, and the ability to use themes made for Go Launcher, ADW, or Apex itself.
Beta testing the Chameleon Launcher. Shows promise but sorely needs more widgets. Still as it's in beta it has potential to kick butt. Using TouchWiz with HD Widgets primarily right now. Hold over from previous tabs.
How do you all find the performance of the alternate launchers? I find that Apex doesn't run completely smoothly on my Note while running stock TW.

Picture this, your house and the front door are made out of wood. The door is specially made to interact with certain features in the house, like maybe a biometric lock, but you could always switch out doors, or put a screen door up.
Touchwiz is the same way. The launcher is like the door and the framework is like the house itself. Removing or replacing the door doesn't mean you can't open windows in the house.
Likewise, the multiscreen functionality is in the Android build, not the launcher.

Because all Android 4.0.4 devices don't have the Touchwiz framework............................
Didn't I just explain this with my fantastic analogy?
Samsung's Android build is not an AOSP stock build. It's a Samsung build. With Samsung Touchwiz Framework, and complimentary apps.
Same reason Samsung specific apps like Snote don't work on CM10.
Touchwiz launcher you see = an app (a launcher specifically)
Touchwiz framework = allows things like multiscreen and the Spen pop out menu which are launcher independent.

I personally LOVE Trebuchet Launcher, but it is a part of CyanogenMod. I have not found any others that I really like, so I am using CM10, because it is the BEST hands down.
Now, you MIGHT be able to find the apk and put it on the stock ICS, but that might defeat the whole purpose of Trebuchet, but just to get back on the subject at hand, and that is that apex launcher is EXACTLY like Trebuchet, and it is not too bad, and worth a look.
Oh and here is flashable zip for Trebuchet, not sure how well it will work on this phone without CM on it, but it might also be worth a look.

performance wise, Nova launcher is the best by far.. though i have used Apex a lot.. the transitions in Nova launcher seem much faster.. the full version lets you make folders in app drawer and use gestures too
Personally, I like Go Launcher. It has a screenshot option which is kind of handy since the one in CM10 doesn't crop them properly at the moment.
Go keeps me going! Best to suit ma requirements!
I've tried adw, nova and apex. Apex in my opinion is the smoothest. Nova would lag at times. I bought Apex pro yesterday and it has a lot of extra features. Basically it will come down to what you like but i would recommend Apex.

Apex or ADW for sure. Nova always had 'twitches' here n there while scrolling. ADW is the most customizable launcher I've ever used n just as smooth as apex. Mind you, gotta be on ICS and up for Apex and Nova. ADW works on all, but to use all features it has, you'll have to be on JB.
