[Google Play Games] Xbox LIVE-Style Social Gaming comes to Android!

While it was leaked days prior, Google made their official announcement that the new Google Services update would come fully packed with Google's own massively social gaming medium (which, BTW, is far more ambitious than iOS GameCenter).
Looks like developers were notified of this well beforehand because there were many instances during the Google I/O Conference where game updates including all this were happening!
So far, the games I know of that make use of Google Play Games are:
• 5 tiles
• A2Z
• RPG Avabel Online
• Ball Maze
• Beach Buggy Blitz
• Chip Chain
• Circulo
• Cosmic Defense
• Eternity Warriors 2
• Eufloria
• eyelord
• Farm Invasion USA
• gunslugs
• GRave Defense HD
• hungry slims
• Ice World Labirynth
• kingdom rush
• mega run
• memory temple
• Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour
• No gravity
• numbers plus games
• Osmos
• PBA bowling challenge
• Plague inc.
• plasma sky
• riptide GP
• rocket island
• save the puppies
• shine runner
• stick stunt biker 2
• super stickman golf 2
• townsmen
• triple town
• Unblock 2 escape
• war of wizards
• Wind-up Knight
• World of Goo
• Zookeeper Battle
EDIT: Impressions video!
I'm one of those weird people who actually enjoy a little trophy/achievement hunting every now and then.... so you can only imagine how infuriating it's been trying to find something stable that fits this desire. One thing I do like about my old 4th gen iDevice is that this was established early, and done really nicely with GameCenter. It's the best mobile form of social network-oriented gaming with achievements, friends and such.
On Android, there's no equivalent... so what happens on Android when no one source will step out and make something dominant? Clones, and loads of clones... none of which work with a lot of games. Swarm is useless, OpenFeint hasn't worked "right" since January, no one gives two damns about HeyZap... and this new GREE thing (OpenFeint v2) is the buggiest, most unstable, most resource-hogging, battery destroying trainwreck yet.
Now there definitely has been talk that Google wants to create an Android equivalent to Apple's GameCenter; but even with that rumor in the grapevine, introducing a new standard is no easy task (especially this late in the game). It means hell for developers, and means they have to go through the trouble of updating their stuff just to keep up with the shiny new thing... but I also see an opportunity here to breathe life into Google+.
What would you guys think of Google Plus simply getting an update that integrates Achievements/Gamerscores? It already has friends, circles, and some very nice forms of communication that are mostly ignored due to it's current "backseat to Facebook" status.

Yes that is a modded/blurred-out version of my G+ profile, and I really did get up at 2am to put this together... because I had a dream about this that seemed so awesome (in my head, anyway) that I had to break out my (sub-par at best) photo editing skills to make a concept art
What you think? Good idea, or some **** I'll think is crazy once I've actually got decent rest?
Is there even a place I could submit such an idea to someone at Google that's important enough to get things done?

I think that will be mad but it has to have offline achievements too. I love achievements and i would restart levels trying to get all of them on halo on my 360.

I'd hope they nailed a offline achievements system too, Sony pulled that off really well with PSVita and PS3 so that we can get achievements without a constant connection, but the smartphone alternatives don't seem to have taken that extra step.
I really love the idea but I think its only practical if its something Google takes up and becomes very serious about. The second people figure out how to hack things like achievements then the whole thing becomes null and void. I'm a huge shmup fan and couldn't wait to challenge the leaderboards in R-Type but there's so much hacking that the top ten is filled with maxed out scores. Btw, I'm the #3 Trizeal player in the U.S. and if anyone wants a link to the online leaderboards just ask
Have you guys not heard of open feint?

Not trying to sound like a smartass or anything, but this was covered in the first post.
Of course we know about OpenFeint... we also know it's been busted for over half a year, and got to be even more busted when they *upgraded* to GREE.
I really don't want to use Google+, but an achievements and games tracker community kinda thing would be cool.
I have a lot of games on Steam and I use it so much, that if I were to record my daily usage of Steam, even the worst basement dwelling WoW gamer would be shocked on the total hours.
So here's something; Steam achievements integration in Android/iOS games. The community is already there. Or buy games from Steam on Android and iOS! Even tho I don't know how that'd work because we already have Google Play and App Store
HOLY ****! Did Google listen to me? Their gaming service leaked, and it's suspcisiously familiar to EVERYTHING I hypothesized (even down to the Google+ integration).

Google just realized how awesome it sounded and needed to spend money....end result. Kidding, however its borderline creepy how much of an exact match it is to your idea, you should post them a link to your ideas and ask them to pay you royalties..... less time for xperiaplaygamer.net, and more time for hookers and nose candy. Lol....... okay back on topic.
I posted the apk in Android Apps and Games earlier if anyone wants it . But not much use till games utilise the service .

yeah, saw the article this morning.. if it is introduced, Google needs to know how to implement it properly, and give us gingerbread users some love. we'll know whats happening over the course of the next few weeks, at Google's I/O.
Google Play games service was officially shown off today and already loads of games just got updated with support for Google games service integration like examples MC4 and Riptide
MC4 - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftM4HM
Riptide - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vectorunit.blue
@TLRtheory It maybe a good idea to update the OP in this thread to include info on this as people are seaming to be talking about this Google service thing here (Not to mention your idea way back when was so close). If want to keep it how it is let me know and will create a new Google Games service thread Thanks

You'll actually have to sign in to each app... and some apps don't auto-sign you in every time.
It's somewhat confusing >_<
