Cannot stat? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When using vipermod on Linux in the terminal it shows a " cannot stat " error on every line the script does. How can I fix this?

do you have the right drivers installed

Adb sees my tf101. So driver wise things must be good. Also if i do lsusb it also sees the asustek transformer

I'm pretty sure you need the specific drivers for vipermod inst. I think they are actually primes' drivers. Go to the vipermod thread and watch the video tutorial on how to install them and read thouroghly

[Q] Is there an aversion to using ADB Wireless here?

Hey folks,
I've successfully installed ADB Wireless (can't post links, it's on the Market) on my TF, and connected on port 5555 using my Windows machine - stock rooted 8.6.5.9 US.
Haven't seen any mention of it here, can't find any reports of problems with it - so if you read this and you already have root (it needs superuser permissions) then save yourself the pain of having to cable it up
Or am I missing something?
Cheers
PatMan
Yeah been using it for a while, work great. Was already using it on the Nexus 1 so I tried with the TF and it work just the same.

On question before I root my TF300.

Should I do a factory reset before so the tablet i clean or can I just ignore that?
If you're just rooting there shouldn't be a need to wipe anything. It should all be the same when you're done.

I will install CWM and after that [ROM] BAKED TF300T Blackbean (8-15)
One more question. I was about to install Android SDK but it says that I don't have JDK installed. On Java's site there is 4 diferent files that I can download. Wich on do I need?
EDIT: I downloading "Java SE Development Kit 7u6" Is that the right one?
Can someone please help me with this?
"Java SE Development Kit (JDK) not found.
Error: Failed to find Java version for 'C:\Windows\system32\java.exe':"
I downloaded and installed the JDK as I said in the post above.
I can't test on my other computer sense every time I flashed my SGS with Odin on it it always stop during the progress and I don't want something like that to happen with my tablet.
EDIT: Got it to work by downloading the 32 bit version of the JDK. But when I install the 3 packages that I need from the SDK it says "Done. Nothing was installed"
It failed to create directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\temp

Boot from USB?

As I understand, this is impossible as of now, but what if there was a way to setup the recovery to allow u to select to boot from microSD or from USB? Then u could have the ability to boot into another OS such as backtrack or debian or ubuntu ARM or possibly Win8. This could also be used for anti-bricking purposes.

That is a way that people have put ubuntu on the tf201. It is possible, but hasn't happened for our tablet yet.
Good to know. I really need to boot off a BackTrack USB drive from time to time. Too many things Android has the power to do, but no app for it. I need to start learning how to Dev some of this stuff. I'm no linux n00b, but I'm not an experience programmer either and that seems to be where it counts.

What version of OS are you running?
It should install an MTP device if you have Windows Media Player 11 or newer.
Does your computer make a sound that it found new hardware when you connect it?

What version of windows media player do you have?
Here's a couple things to try:
Plug your transformer via usb. In Windows Vista, hit Start and search for Device Manager. Inside device manager, see if there are any "Other Devices". If there is anything listed under "Other Devices", unplug your transformer and see if any of the Other Devices disappear. Plug in your transformer now and see if anything appears under Other Devices. If anything appears, right click on the new item and hit uninstall.
Assuming your tablet is in full working condition, you can plug it in now and listen for the sound played in Windows when a new device is plugged in. It should also begin to install the drivers off of your transformer.
IF that doesn't work, go back to Other Devices and repeat that removal process that you did the first time. Now, download PdaNet here for Windows. PdaNet is actually a tethering software, but it will make sure you have your correct drivers installed as one of the steps during installation. Install PdaNet and follow its instructions throughout the process; it should ask you to plug in your tablet at some point in the installation process.
Good luck!

Just throwing the official Asus download link your way. It has the Vista ASUS Pad PC Suite: "These required tools can help your computer link to and sync with ASUS device".
