Hi everyone!
Since, as most people already noticed, using Galaxy Note with just one hand is not really possible I have developed an app to solve this issue. Since this app is very sensitive to kernel used I would like to get your feedback in trying this app on different firmwares/kernels.

Market link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vital.oh
RECENT CHANGES:
Added support for stock ICS
PR stuff after the break
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Requires Root*
*Currently supports Samsung Galaxy Note (tested on N7000) *
*THIS IS TRIAL VERSION!!! FULL VERSION REQUIRES REGISTRATION AND IS PAID*
OneHanded application allows you to comfortably use Galaxy Note with just one hand.
Also, better battery life while using smaller screen can be achieved
It is done by scaling the image on the screen to the size of Galaxy S screen.
Features (of the full version):
*no text on empty area
*create shortcut on home screen to go to OneHanded mode with one click. (You can choose on which screen side app will reside initially)
*change side of the screen by tapping on empty area
*auto turn to full screen when phone is rotated to landscape and back to OneHanded mode when rotated back to Portrait
Features (of the full version):
*auto switch to full mode after screen lock/unlock (configurable)
*notification icon allowing to return to full screen mode
This application supports standard Samsung firmwares - with custom kernels it may not work (however I have successfully tested it with some custom kernels)
Custom kernels: app requires kernel with KALLSYMS, so ask developer of your kernel to include this in his config when building kernel: CONFIG_KALLSYMS=y, CONFIG_KALLSYMS_ALL=y
Known issues:
A bit slow when in OneHanded mode. Better if using app like Tegrak Overcklock to lock GPU speed to 267MHz
Video and camera preview will not be scaled in OneHanded mode.
Stylus position will be incorrect while in OneHanded mode
------------------------------
Well now, that's quite clever.

Just to chime in to say it does work on a stock rooted LA2 ROM. A little lag of course but you mentioned about that so it's all good. Gimmicky but smart idea
Got the new version off of the market and it works now. Cool.
It would be really nice if there were 'size' options - it would be a fantastic way to show off the Note. You could say, 'here's how this app looks on an iphone'. Now here's how it looks on the Note.
Right now the one handed mode changes it to a 4.3" screen.

Interesting idea However, iphone uses different form factor - I belive it is 4:3 in comparision to 16:9 on note.

hmm. You are correct. Wrong numbers, though:
iphone 4 is 3:2, galaxy note is 16:10.
I think it'll still work, and I'll elaborate it below:
I some suggestions/comments:
1) A 'size mode' : i.e. a toggle of: 3.5"/4.3" (4.6?")
This would be nice for people of different hand sizes.
Just keep the same aspect ratio, for simplicity. Even when comparing to other phone sizes, the aspect ratios are close enough that it's still all good.
2) Galaxy note generic comment: It's actually quite difficult for me, if holding the phone in my right hand, to tough the extreme right edge of the phone. It's doable but I'm just begging to drop my phone.
So for your app, it would be really nice if you could place the smaller keyboard wherever you want, not just 'all the way left' and 'all the way 'right'.
An easier option would be just allowing 'centered'.
A centered 3.5" mode would be quite nice to type on, I think.
3) Don't know if you tried this, but if you take a screenshot in 'one handed mode', it only captures the screen. (i.e. not the black dead zone). I consider this a good thing.
4) I registered! Support this guy, people! This app has a ton of potential.

Tried this out of curiosity, im in tablet mode 200dpi, the screen initially successfully resizes when you enable (after allowing root), but when you want to disable:
error cant apply SPEN settings.No root permissions?unsupported firmware?error string:insmod init_module /data/data/com.vital.oh/files/ohmodule.ko failed (file exists)
I am on Imika 5, i have root.Reboot brings back to normal, wont register just yet, but great concept. Hope the above helps, i know it isnt useful for tablet mode, just wanted to test.
Great idea definitely but that defeats.the purpose of there size of this phone.

I agree. I mean, its a fantastic idea, and I mean absolutely no disrespect when I say this, but surely buying smaller phone would be a simpler solution?
I also personally have no issue with one handed operation of the Note. I regularly send texts when I'm walking using only one hand, and I can perform tasks such a web browsing, Facebook, Twitter, G+ etc. with just one hand. I'm no giant either; I'm 5'10", although I do have fairly large hands for a man of my height.

While anyone who buys the app and uses it 100% of the time should just buy a smaller phone, there are plenty of scenarios where you just occasionally need one handed use.
For Example, if you are eating, or standing on the subway or whatever.
Almost all reviewers complain about one handed use.
This app makes one handed use easier for the times you need it, and you can turn it off when you don't. I have pretty large hands and I find one handed use awkward at best. Sure, you can shuffle the phone up and down. With this app though, you don't need to.

OP & XDA Members:
Just out of curiosity, does the new "one-handed" mode for the SGN's keyboard not do anything for you? After updating to LB1 from KKA, I started using the right hand, one-handed keyboard and haven't had a problem since. Granted, it looks a little goofy to have all that usused screen real estate on the left side of the keyboard, but it works perfectly. If you haven't tried it out yet, I strongly suggest you do. It works a treat for me!
Here are some screenshots:

I rather like the one handed Samsung keyboard. But I like the onehanded SwiftKey x even more.
Also it's not just typing - it's for any application where you need to use the top of the screen for menus or buttons
In some situations it is very useful.

Hi,
This is my first Android app, NBLauncher. It's a simple app that let you add shortcuts to apps as buttons in the notification bar (expanded view), so you can quickly launch an app from anywhere (as long as you have access to the notification bar). I've seen similar apps on the Android market, but I haven't seen one that uses multiple buttons/apps on the same notification line. NBLauncher currently allows a maximum of 15 buttons (three lines of five). After installing, launch NBLauncher from app drawer to configure what apps you want to add to notification bar. Use the up/down arrows to rearrange the order of the buttons. Make sure to click "Done" when exiting. You'll then see the NBLauncher icon on the notification bar. Pull down the notification and you'll see the buttons to launch your app. It also saves the list of apps so you when reboot the phone, it auto-starts with your configured list.
Two minor things that I haven't figure out. Maybe you guys could help.
1. Each notification line requires it's own notification icon in the bar. So if there are three lines of buttons, there will be three separate icons. I have made only one visible and the others invisible, but I have no idea how to get rid of the invisible icons while keeping the notification. Any ideas?
2. During installation of the app, Android lists accessing phone book/contact as one of the things that the app does. But I am not touching the phone book or any contact info. How can this be? How does it determine what an app could do? Based on permission? This obviously has an negative effect of scaring people away from the app
Feed backs and suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
can you give us a little screenshots before we give it a go?..
Nice, I like it, much better then App Launcher, which costs $2 right now.
I couldn't find it in the Market though, did you pull it?
Only complaint so far is that it doesn't play well with lcd density changes. I'm set at 161, so the UI is a little cramped when setting up, but the launcher in the notification tray scales perfectly and looks good. There are several market apps that don't scale well with density changes, so it's not even that big of a deal. Spare Parts, MixZing, Mint.com, and Shazam don't either, just to name a few.
Gratuitous screen shot,

If minSdkVersion is not set in AndroidManifest.xml, it assumes a minimum version of 1. In the SDK version 4(ish?), a few new permissions were added, so if minSdkVersion is below that, those permissions are included whether you need them or not. Read Phone State was among these.
TopShelf10,
I only tested the app on Droid X (my phone) and Evo 4G. Haven't test it on Samsung Galaxy series yet. I noticed button events in the notification view behave differently on Droid X and Evo 4G, so I had to code around it. I guess it's different again on the Galaxy phones. I'll need to get my hands on a Galaxy phone

Sure. As long as you site the source and keep me updated on any findings so I can update my app accordingly.
To be more specific, I think the problem is how button events/intents are handled vs. default intent of the notification content view. I'll try to post some code when I get home.

I think I am really going to like this app. Works great on my rooted Incredible. Any chance you could add an option to hide the icon in the Notification Bar?
Edit: Thought I would mention that I'm running a ROM using the EVO framework. So I couldn't tell ya if it'll work on a stock HTC Incredible.
Well this looks great, just installed it. It doesn't work though. I press on an app, it seems to highlight, then the notification bar just closes.... Any help?

Very impressive app. Thank you for making it and great eye for aesthetics!
A bug I am having on my device: (CM7, 800x480, default DPI, Droid Sans changed to the Roboto font that was extracted from ICS)
Very nicely implemented, love the swipeable list at the top.
I often end up adding long lists of numbers, so it's important to see that they are all there
However, if you add a really long list, more than one row of numbers, you can't see clearly the number that you are inputting. Could that box resize automatically - or better, show just the last row inputted as well as the latest number?

The text cut-off on 480x800 devices should be fixed by this weekend. The emulator shows it looking totally fine, and the SGS2 we test it on looks good (though other SGS2 owners have told us of the same issue).
Thanks a lot for all the help, I hope the app comes in useful for you.

Bahh, this drives me nuts. I can't figure out why it shows incompatible with certain phones (not models; for instance, it'll be compatible with some SGS2s but not others) and only on the market (apk works fine). Do you have any ROMs installed? Still, I don't know why that would make a difference. I gotta make a post on xda about it or something :/.

From the threads I'm reading, if you set your ROM to custom dpi (pixel density) it has that affect with some apps on the market. Will keep reading into it..
If you do have a moment I would appreciate if you can rate my free app, each rating really helps a lot.

I'd be happy to rate it and provide feedback on the Market but I'm not able too.
I installed the apk though and so far everything seems to be working fine.
A couple of suggestions though:
Change Mortgage to Loan Repayments and provide a bit more flexibility. For example, the ability to choose the loan type from 1 year upwards or alternatively allow for custom input so I can type in whatever I want.
It would also be good to have an additional payments input. So you would enter you total loan amount, interest, loan type, then by inputting additional payments ($50 a week for example) it will tell you how many months and/or years you would save as well as a dollar amount.
This would cater not only for Mortgages but Personal Loans as well. If this kind of functionality was added I'd seriously consider buying it for this purpose alone.
The calculator looks good but I think it needs to follow the same basic look of any calculator with the + - X and / running down the right hand side. Having them at the top throws you off a little.
The ability to rearrange or select which tabs you want to appear at the top. Tipping and Currency are pointless for me so being able to remove them from view would be good.
A fantastic calculator overall though. Love the ICS look/theme to it. Easy to follow and read. When I can install it from the Market I definitely will.
My $0.02

Once the phone has started, you’ll see latest headlines from your favorite resources. You are still a single gesture away from unlocking your phone. But if you have a minute or two, Corgi is right here, waiting for you with the latest articles from the web. If you saw an intriguing headline, just swipe up and enjoy the article. Browse more stories by swiping to the left, it is that simple.
Corgi is made for Feedly
To make this all come true, we have partnered with the best news aggregator out there. Feedly is fast, reliable. But most importantly, thanks to the Feedly v3 Engine, it let’s you get news from anywhere. Starting with big news resources as The Verge, TechCrunch, XDA-Developers going to more local ones like Boston Business News. Allowing you to read the news, you actually care of. Note: if you are already using Feedly, you don't need to subscribe again.
Why Corgi?
If a dog is men best friend. Then corgi is the most adorable friend. We want to bring that positive mood right to your lock screen.

That's is strange, it's related to the fact that Samsung has it's own alarm, it is not that easy to tract that event. But we will do our best to solve this.
Cool App!
Although one thing that bugs me: After a reboot, the screen is black and only after I pulled down the status bar and clicked on something, the PINCode Pattern appears.
awesome!! I really like it. This is the type of lockscreen I looked for a long time
One thing that buggs me is, if I swipe to the right, it dismisses the last article so that I can't get back to it.
Also it would be nice to have an animation to the pattern lock. instead of it just popping up
**EDIT**
Also it would be nice to include Notifications or space for a widget (to use external notification widget-apps)
nice app!
flat design, fast and nice.

I'm glad you like it. To go back, press the "+" button and the press "back". We still have not added it to the guide so it's a bit complicated.
And yes, there will be the animation for the lock screen, in the next update I hope!

Just gave it a quick try: and I love it. It's a little bit laggy on my z2 but I'm sure that will be fixed in future version. Keep the good work up and I'll buy it when iits ready!

I'm glad you like it. It is a bit laggy on some devices, and it's weird. Trying to figure it out. The funny thing that it's not hardware related issue, maybe kernel or ROM settings. Since it's buttery smooth on my Moto G 2013
Very nice app. Produces pretty lockscreens. BUT it prevents Daydreams working in CM12 and I don't want the distraction of attractive news feeds facing me when I'm using the phone in my desk dock.

Is daydream a part of your standard lock screen? Also, have you tried AcDisplay app? As far as I know Corgi works ok with AcDisplay. I'll take a look if this can be fixed though!
The potential is big with this one.
Hi there!
You've piqued my interest for this app so much that I decided to sign up on XDA and post here, even though I've been using it for almost 5 years. Please continue development and make this even more awesome.
A Bug report:
Phone: Oneplus One
ROM: Euphoria ROM by Mahdi (CM12 base)
DPI: 408
I faced a critical bug somehow while running this app.
After I installed the app, everything ran smoothly until this error started showing up every two seconds.
Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped

(I looked into this error on the internet and the most common reason seemed to be due to a problem with Contacts. But as this error popped up just minutes after I installed this app, I thought otherwise.)
Whatever I tried, it went in vain. I tried rebooting the phone, clearing the data and cache for this app and all that. Zilch. The issue vanished, though, the second I uninstalled this app. No offense but I think there is a possibility that it might have something to do with your app. If I'm wrong, I'm all ears. I'm not very well versed in anything here.
Things I loved:
The animations
The way the app opened up a temp browser to display the entire content
The clean interface
Things that can be improved:
Lock pattern integration (Animation and more options)
The ability to show the Navigation bar translucently instead of going immersive. This is frustrating a little as when ever I pull down the status bar, the nav bar comes up as well causing the lockscreen to seemingly stutter to accommodate the change. I hope you get this.
The color filter that you superimpose over the article while turning the screen on is nice, but can get rather striking at times. I think it would be better if the colors were a little subdued and if the images had a factor of blurriness in them to make the items like Date and Time on the lockscreen more legible.
An option to view the newsfeed as a stream of news articles by swiping up and down.
I see that there is a default image that you use for articles that do not have one? I request you to use a nicer one Because I see a busy street somewhere in Asia as the default pic and it isn't doing justice to the good aesthetics of this app
Thanks a ton for this app. If some of the issues here and there are ironed out, I don't see why it wouldn't become my daily driver!

Firstly, thank you for you feedback! It's great to see that the app made you interested. Concerning your bug, we will take a look at it. If you could send us a log, that would be great. To do so, after the crash go to the Corgi app, swipe right and press "Leave Feedback". When you send it, it will attach a log, this helps us to trace crashes etc.
Concerning your feedback. The immersive more, color filter, lock patter animations, will be there once we have menu settings fully ready. We just need some more time. News feed as a stream is something bothering our minds for a while now. We will have it, but not soon. There are some ideas, but we have to rewrite the whole app for that
notifications?
Is there any plans for showing notifications on top of the news items ?

daydream is baked-in feature of CyanogenMOd based roms (not sure if it's the AOSP source). It simply initiates one of a number of pre-set functions when plugged-in, docked or both, after a given unused elapsed time.
I've never used AcDisplay - never needed to as Daydream normally works fine. I'm not keen on installing additional apps to bring back functionality lost or inhibited by others - that way you just clog you system up with more and more useless code.
I will certainly drop back and see if this issue gets fixed though as I do like your app
Cheers

First of all thank you. This is a beautiful app that truly defines how beautiful an app can be following material design guidelines. I hope to see more features in it soon. so far so good. Animations are smooth and nice. Layout is excellent. Color layers are gorgeous.
Now after using this app for a couple of hours here are a few things that could be improved.
- When I turn the screen ON my notification drop down panel is extended. I have to swipe up to make it go away and look at the news articles on lock screen. Reading your comment above [quoted] doesn't seem like its intended behavior.
- Reading an article by swiping up on lock screen or moving to another article by swiping left doesn't mark that article as "read". Which means that if I go back to Feedly, all articles I have scrolled past on Corgi are still there. It would be better if this functionality can be added.
- Lock screen runs in "immersive mode". Which means if I swipe up from the bottom of screen I can make the navigation bar to show. However one I make it appear and click on any navigation key it sticks to the screen and doesn't go away.
Feature Request:
I have a lot of feeds coming into Feedly. Is it possible to "pin" a single feed or multiple to show on lock screen instead of all feeds? Plus if the order of feeds could be re-arranged inside Corgi would be really nice to have feature.
Device Info: Oneplus One
Rom: Tuga Power (CM12) vs 55
DPI: 500 (on this DPI this lockscreen is absolutely beautiful and smooth).
Once again, great work and keep the updates coming.
UPDATE: v2.0_Alpha is up!

Hi everyone!
If you happen to be a fan of split-window mode in Android Nougat, there is a good chance that may find this nifty tools App that I have been working on - Parallel Windows for Nougat (Android 7.0 Nougat exclusive)
What it does? 3 things as of now:
#1 Provide an onscreen shortcut to toggle split-screen
#2 Quickly launch any new App in split-screen mode through a floating mini App drawer.
#3 Mirror an App!
YES! You can run two Windows of an App, two windows of almost any App on a phone but MANY windows of an App on tablet, as seen on the screenshots above.
The set of tools can be accessed by swiping from right edge of the screen, couple of screenshots of the App:
Here is a video demo (please note that it's on an emulator, expect some lags here and there.) In case you're only interested in checking out how the mirroring of App works, jump to 03:14 in the video. And if anybody can shoot a quality video, please do and upload to this thread.
Please subscribe, share the link of this thread with your Nexus friends (running Android Nougat.)
Thank you for going through my post.
DOWNLOAD OPTIONS:
Download from Google Play Store (Receive updates automatically)
If you like the App, please leave a rating on Google Play Store.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION AND SOME IMPORTANT NOTES ON THE APP IS LEFT ON THE THIRD POST.
What's changed/new in v2.1_Alpha:
* The white background of "RECENT ACTIVITY" panel is now toned down.
* Recent activity removes Apps which are uninstalled.
* Added/changed UI texts wherever needed.
What's changed/new in v2.0_Alpha:
* Significant improvement in the UI controls, you should feel everything super snappy now.
* App drawer now supports fast scrolling.
* You can now adjust the placement of the hotspot to trigger Parallel Windows side bar - length, width, location (up/down/left/right.)
* A new panel is now available, 'RECENT ACTIVITY' - whichever App you launch/mirror using Parallel Windows, goes here. This panel will have more additions in future - shortcut to launch multiple Apps, widgets etc.
What's changed/new in v1.2_Alpha:
* The App is now battery ready - uses CPU for only the few seconds when you interact with it.
What's changed/new in v1.1_Alpha:
* The floating App drawer should be super responsive now.
* After swiping in left the tools menu, you can tap anywhere on the screen to exit (earlier you had to swipe back to the right.)
* Added quick sharing option.
If you have an interesting use case for the 'mirror' feature on a particular App, please post a screenshot of your phone/tablet. I will include them here to showcase.
Installation instruction and important notes on the app
THE SET-UP:
Download the .apk and proceed with standard installation.
Launch the App, read through the notes, check off boxes, hit 'continue'.
In the main Settings page, hit the first switch 'Permit to draw over other Apps', it will take you to a new page, enable the permission and hit back.
Again, in the main Settings page, click the second switch 'Enable Accessibility Service', you will be take to the Accessibility Services menu, choose "Parallel Windows for Nougat" from the list, and enable it.
[OPTIONAL] Go back to the Settings page, adjust the width and height of the hotspot (the hotspot region will be highlighted with every change.)
HOW TO USE:
Once everything is set-up, you can swipe from the middle of right edge of your screen to open the menu.
The menu has 3 buttons, starting from top they are: App Drawer, Split Screen Toggle and Mirror respectively.
Clicking the middle button (Split Screen Toggle) will, well, toggle the split-screen mode of your device.
The top most button (App Drawer,) will let you open a App drawer right on your screen. Clicking any App here will launch it side-by-side to your existing App. If your device is already in split-screen mode, then there is no gurantee on which side of the screen will the App launch. Also, one important thing to keep in mind is, this App drawer is exclusive to launch Apps side by side, it will NOT open any App in normal full screen.
The third button is called 'Mirror'. 'Parallel Windows' for Nougat is totally inspired by the magical functionality of this button. More about it in the next section.
THE MIRROR:
CASE 1: You're not in split-screen mode. Now, if you swipe from right, hit the Mirror button, it will ask you to "Select an App to mirror". You can tap anywhere on the background App that is visible through the transcluent black area. Clicking it will mirror the App, give it a few seconds to complete the process.
CASE 2: You're already in split-screen mode and you want to mirror one of the two windows (or many incase of tablets.) Again, swipe from right, hit the mirror button, tap on the App which you want to mirror, visible through the translucent black window.
There is small probability that the Mirroring didn't do its job well. In that case, you can just try again. If it doesn't work the second time either, and you really need to mirror the particular App, all you have to do is, close all other Apps, and try mirroring on the App again (it should work almost certainly.)
Do note that, not all the Apps are mirrorable. Parallel Windows will indeed let you know if it can not mirror a particular App. In most of the cases, if you think an App has a use for mirroring then most likely it will be available for mirroing.
Looks awesome
This is how I've been saying Samsungs multi window should be toggled for years! Looks great!
What I always wanted was split window in LANDSCAPE that showed 2 or 3 windows scaled as if it's 3 full screens. Like 3 devices. Smaller keyboard, smaller phone app, but clear enough on these super high res screens we have.

Hello everyone!
The App is finally up! I spent countless hours, continuously day and night for so many days now to arrive at this Alpha version. Hope it works as good as it does on my emulator. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Fun fact: The development of this App was entirely based on an Android emulator. Because I don't have a Nexus. So, if you downloaded the App first and installed on an Android Nougat device, you're probably the first person every to try this App on a real device. Are you the one? Let me know

Well i don't have a Nexus, but i guess i am the first one to download it on my AOSP 7.0.
The app works exactly as you described. Didn't find any bug yet but hey i'm using it since last 5 mins. I don't usually do reviews but i left you one on Google Play Store (actually my first one). I hope you get a real device to develop.
Kudos! Keep up the amazing work.
EDIT: The Sidebar closing animations are a bit laggy. I have some suggestions:
1. Clicking on the empty space to close the sidebar rather than dragging it back.
2. Change sidebar hotspot positions to user defined places on either right or left edge of the screen.
I know this app is still in alpha but just my two cents. I'll go back to lurking now.

Wow! Didn't expect the first review from India as it would be 3+ AM when you tried the App. Thank you! I acknowledged your review on Google Play Store as well.
Also, your suggestions are much appreciated. The sidebar opening may 'feel' laggy, as it waits for the user's swipe to complete from hotspot towards left. But closing should absolutely be smooth, can you clarify that? Or if it's really a visible lag, a small 3 seconds screencast would help me clarify a lot.
And as the development progresses, the hotspot will be super customizable. I have intentionally kept it super minimal to get some quick feedback on the core features.
I have quite a bunch of real exciting features planned for future versions, now if only I can slow down time.

I just tried it again. It could be due to OmniSwitch. I have OmniSwitch assigned on the same place too with double swipe. I'll try again tomorrow and send you a screencast if it happens. I've to go to sleep now. Like you said its 03:30 am here and i got a job to do tomorrow.

I know its early on, but since this has been in place since early beta, I'm hoping there is an actual app by now...
Has anyone found an app (not a Tasker mod) to use the fingerprint scanner to lock the screen that uses the new code, and hence does not disable the fingerprint scanner for unlocking?
This was the big letdown coming from a Moto g5 to the pixel 2. Hoping it can now work exsctly the same.
Thanks!

yep, coming from op3t, that feature should be on stock android. its annoying for me to glance at the notification by pressing power button to sleep the phone. i think atm there is no app that could do that without root. with root there are many alternatives.

Root is required? Akk. From what I read I thought it would be (relatively) as simple as hitting a different (new) GLOBAL_ACTION_LOCK_SCREEN API instead of the Device Admin API. Of course... Google. They don't do things right, they just do them halfway, so you fee like it could be right. I think they secretly like the impression that they built up hope and then let their customer base down. Lol.
Thanks.

my mistake, idk about (new) GLOBAL_ACTION_LOCK_SCREEN API before this. Anyway i just tried on nova launcher beta, yep, now can assign lock screen to any gesture. it uses the new screen lock method that supported by android P now.
and here an app that i found also support android P. But it is a paid app, i tried and it works.

Awesome. Thanks!
This looks like it needs Tasker. Never used that before but I went ahead and purchased it. Figured out how to set the task to the lock app, but I cant figure out how to set up a trigger. Seems to be the profile tab, but I dont see anything that is fingerprint sensor there. Could you point me in the right direction? Thanks.
EDIT: I think I figured it out. TouchTask app. I like pressing the button, so I just set every direction. Best I could get.
EDIT2: Found out how to set a vibrate to occur right before screen off to get the same haptic feedback from screen on. Thanks again! [emoji846]

Awesome.
Thanks.

mrdoug, would you mind sharing the steps you used to make TouchTask and Tasker lock the screen using the fingerprint reader? Much appreciated!
Here's the base steps I figured out. I had to go back and try to recreate it.
Personally, I didn't find Tasker easy to use at all...very unintuitive for me, at least. Hopefully this is everything. I dont have the vibrate part in there... I need to recreate that, first. Hope to post shortly for you.
One word of caution... I found this somewhat tempormental ... it doesn't work on occasion, for no good reason I can discern. Maybe one of the apps necessary is closed to save memory? I don't know. Still, until I find an all inclusive app using the new API, this is the best I could do myself. I literally program nothing... No knowledge whatsoever. This was very new to me.
For the setup I created, you need three apps:
1. Tasker
2. TouchTask (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.balda.touchtask)
3. Screen Locker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivianuu.screenlocker)
In Tasker...
A. Create a Task:
1. In the Task Tab
2. Select the + in the bottom right corner to Create new task
3. Name it
4. Select the + in the bottom right corner to add a new action
5. select plugin...
6. Choose screen lock app
7. Tap the config pencil (upper right)
8. Choose back arrow (twice?)
9. The new task should appear in the main screen
B. Create a Profile
1. Got the profile tab
2. Select the + to add new trigger
3. select event
4. choose plugin
5. choose touchtask app
6. Choose fingerprint gestures
7. Choose pencil icon to edit
8. Select all option you want (I set all directions, personally)
9. Select check mark upper right to save
10. Back arrow to main window
11. Popup will appear asking what task to link it to... Select the screen lock initially created
If anyone has any suggestions to improve this... Or better yet, an all inclusive app, let me know.
Hope this helps (and actually works for you... Again, I'm in uncharted territory here).
Edit: To add the vibrate just go into the tasks tab, select the one you created for the screen off, and press the plus in the bottom corner to add a new action. Select alert and then Select vibrate. When you fine tune the duration to your preference, simply move vibrate before lock screen in the list. That's it.

Thank you, mrdoug, for providing very clear, detailed instructions for integrating TouchTask, Tasker and Screen Locker. I was able to lock my screen using the fingerprint reader. Seems to function very similar to the paid app Fingerprint Action Pro, which is also Pie-compatible. The best Oreo fingerprint app, Fingerprint Quick Action, hasn't been updated yet for Pie.
Surprise! I found this a few minutes ago...

Anyone with Android P try this? Any word on how the fingerprint lock function works? Unfortunately it's an IAP, so I'm hesitant to buy it without any knowledge of it's quality. Maybe I'll email the developer.

I bought Fingerprint Action Pro, and it does work with Pie. No vibration however.

Just saw your comment... So how does FAP work? Is it responsive? Does it kill the battery? Any issues with it not working like Tasker?
So glad you posted that. Was hoping someone had tried it.
Thanks.

Automagic, IMHO, is much easier to use (and some say more functional) than Tasker and can do what you want (if I've understood the ask correctly) with no add-ons and a very simple 'flow' concieved, written, applied and tested in about 2 mins
I'm no more than a fan of this app, which is extremely well supported by the dev and community.

Screenshot below is the UI that completely defines how this flow works - everything is defined just by creating flow charts which, if necessary, can become as complex as you like. BTW the lockScreen() function is new and currently only available in the beta (Early Access Program) version of the app, freely available from the app's support forum and is as stable (for me) as the Play Store version. I currently have 55 (now 56) flows defined in the app....

Might give it a try at some point, Thank you.
I am currently liking the app bassguy60 suggested. It is a LOT more stable than my Tasker script. I miss the vibrate function, but I'm in the process of asking the developer to implement. Hopefully it's something easy and much requested.
The most important part is consistency and fingerprint action pro has it over my Tasker script.
