I have a sensation that i got real cheap and was wondering if you can check the CID or even change through adb wireless? The charging port on the phone is broke and no way to connect usb. The phone is already rooted with hboot 1.17...Thanks in advance.
You can check cid from the phone.
Download terminal emulator from the market.
Type "su" without quotes". If you are root you will get a "#'
then type
"getprop ro.cid" (again without quotes) and it will show your actual (original) cid.
Even if you got supercid (11111111) it will show the original cid, something like HTC__XXX
I dont know if you can change it from the phone as well.
If you want to check also your model id (mid). Type "getprop ro.mid"
Hope it helps.
PS. If you cannot use usb how to re-charge your phone? just to ask...
CID (current) can only be checked/changed via fastboot.

You must be S-OFF
Reason:
1. It will set up Super CID on your device allowing you to flash any carriers rom (not just T-Mobile). Giving you more freedom with your choice of software. The software still needs to be device specific to the Sensation for compatibility reasons.
Download this File:
http://www.multiupload.com/PC63866B1D
Mount Sdcard to PC
Place File on the Root of the /sdcard
example: /sdcard/mmcblk0p16
Unmount Scard From PC
ADB SHEL or Terminal will work, You must be rooted & have a # before Running commands.
Backup your current CID incase with this Command:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 of=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p16_backup
Click to collapse
Now to Super CID your Phone:
dd if=/mnt/sdcard/mmcblk0p16 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16

Definition for supercid:
by CID unlocking your device the value of the CID is changed to SuperCID . This allows the flashing of ANY ROM to the device regardless of the carrier and also unlocks the read/write capability of the Ext_ROM..
CID lock: the phone software can only be modified/upgraded with another version for the same CID. I think it stands for Country ID; this means that a phone with French Windows Mobile can only accept an upgrade of French Windows Mobile. It is probably required by Microsoft to license the software to OEMs to avoid piracy (I suppose). HTC uses the CID also to distinguish their various distribution channels, so a DOPOD branded device and an HTC branded device have different CIDs. A phone that is not locked to any country version or to any distribution channel has a SuperCID and will accept all WM software whatever the language, etc. Your phone is probably CID-locked.
Might allow you to flash ruu from diferent regions. Also complete r/w permissions I believe.

Thanks... let the fun begin
FYI.....It stands for CarrierID not CountryID.

This works for flashing through recovery. The exe ruu installers check the build.prop on the device and possibly even the signatures to verify its the same device in question. You'd have to extract the firmware from the installer. How? I don't know. I've been waiting for someone to tell me.
I think my phone has some hardware issues. Phone will not charge when connect to wallcharger or PC. The only way to charge it is using a battery charger (by taking the battery out from the phone).
Now I want to restore the phone to original and try to claim warranty repair or replacement. I know how to install stock firmware and I found the thread to put S-on. Unfortunately, I superCID-ed the phone to install ICS a few weeks ago and I did not take note of the original CID.
Is there any way to get my original CID from the phone? thanks!!!
Hi... Try this useful collection of the various guides by digiholic... Under the guide collection the is a Sensation CID List..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200403..
But I've read in several posts that super cid doesn't affect your warranty, I've no experience of this myself though.
The CID is also held somewhere else on the phone besides FB i'll see if I can find the process.
The process is in the start of the CID list but you need to be conversant with the terminal emulator & superuser.

HONESTLY I don't think the CID will matter, I don't think they'll look that closely if it's really not charging. Try a few wall chargers, different outlets. Try USB power from your computer, and a friends charger.
If you need to change your CID to a CID that looks closer to your original one you can use this list: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195475. Hope I've helped, click thanks if I have.

Are you rooted? Also it would seem like you already have supercid. Since you don't match the two cids it says.

Yes I am rooted. How would I check for Super CID?
If I already have supercid, what would be my next step?
Just checked the bootloader and it still says locked.
Thanks
You could try to do bootloader unlock. If it works you do if it doesn't you don't. Not sure how to check.

I had a similar problem. I ended up patching the file manually. My CID was showing correctly CWS__001 starting at offset 214 so not sure what the issue was. To check if you have changed the CID try
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
wait for reboot then
Code:
fastboot oem readcid
It should read 11111111. If it does you can try
Code:
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
Leave the command prompt open and copy the text. You can find the exact instructions at htcdev.com in the unlock bootloader section by selecting other supported devices.

If you're on Windows you should download HTC Sync which will install the USB drivers for the phone. Then, uninstall HTC Sync which will still leave the USB drivers on your computer. Then download the Android SDK from here. Once you have that running you want to install "Android SDK Platform-tools" which should be near the top. Now you should be ready to run the commands, just open a command prompt and navigate to the directory the platform-tools were installed to.
On a side note, you can also check your CID by downloading CID Getter from the Play Store
Shweeeet ! Will try tonight and keep ya posted.
Since I am not familiar with SDK, is there a cheat sheet available? I have no idea where to start and how to fire this thing up.
Thanks
Thanks to all ! I had a Brain Fart. Completely overlooked the fact this is Linux until I saw the commands. Duh !
unlock bootloader
I'm having issues unlocking my bootloader. I go through all the steps, get to the end and cmd prompt says its sending unlock token (0 kb)... It will not go any farther than this. I have to then manually reboot. What am I doing wrong? I've searched the forums and cannot find an answer. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Any ideas?

It would be possible. When I use CID Getter from the play store I only see one on my phone.
Code:
ro.boot.cid 11111111
I don't see a line for
Code:
ro.aa.maincid
I can tell you that the CID is stored in a few partitions on your phone. P4 which you changed as well as P5 & P6. Currently my phone has p4 & p5 as 11111111 but p6 is T-MOB010. I never see T-MOB010 referenced in CID Getter or anywhere else. When most people do SuperCID they normally only do it at p4. I did mine on p5 also just in case but left p6 alone.
You have a very specific problem that I've only seen people mention when they receive their phones back after warranty repairs. My guess is that when HTC replaces the main board some kind of device identifiers aren't changed on the phones internal storage. This causes a mismatch that stops you from unlocking it. In your case something happened when you were downgrading your hboot.
I think you have a chance at getting your phone unlocked but you need to get root. Which is where you're stuck. At this point your best option would be to try and get someone else to get you the unlock_code.bin. By modifying this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732980
We already tried it with the IMEI but it might need to go one step further and also replace the serial number and mac address.

Also you wouldn't be able to use "fastboot oem writecid" unless you had S-OFF. You would need to pull it from the phone hex edit it and push it back.

I'm sending my phone to T-Mobile and getting a new one via handset warranty. The volume buttons broke off and I can't handle the reboots anymore so T-Mobile said I can get a new one. They told me that I have to return it to completely stock though or else I will be charge $98.
I'm currently running HyperSensation. How do I go about returning it completely to stock so I don't get stuck with this charge?

Hi,
They said they want it completely stock, which is what a RUU will do.
It says nothing about removing supercid,or returning to s-on.
If you wanted to remove supercid, then, follow this:
To get your CID back to stock, do the following:
Connect to ADB, run "adb reboot-bootloader"
Then enter the command "fastboot oem writecid 11111111", except put your carriers CID in place of the 11111111. If you do not know your CID, refer to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195475
Then run "fastboot reboot-bootloader" and then "fastboot getvar cid" to verify it successfully changed.

Ah thank you. I have no idea if I need to get S-ON or supercid back to normal or not. I have the handset protection plan so they sent me a new one and I'm sending mine in and the rep at the store said make sure there is no trace of rooting or they will charge me $100. I don't know if that just means the RUU or if they will check for S-ON or supercid. Does anyone know?
Another question. If I can't figure out how to get it back to stock then should I just brick it and send it back? Will they be able to tell that it bricked due to rooting?

Last question, and thank you very much for the help so far.
Right now I have supercid so should I change back to T_MOBO10 first before doing all the steps on the RUU up there or can I do it after?
And also how do I tell if my boot loader is locked or not? Following the instructions on the RUU I'm S-OFF but I'm not sure if the bootloader is locked or not. I don't see unlocked anywhere so should I assume its locked?
