Agreed - I had a weird issue with ROM Manager and the latest CM nightlies, where suddenly I couldn't boot into Recovery.
Re-Applying CM via ROM Manager fixed the recovery issue (after a forced update of recovery through the app).
I'm trying to flash the new 4.0.4 rom but I can't seem to get into ClockworkMod Recovery. I tried to in the preboot screen(held power and volumes) and selected Recovery and inside the Rom Manager app to Reboot into Recovery. I tried to click Flash Recovery and did a restore on a old backup(which worked) but with no luck. All i get is the green guy with a red ! in a triangle. Please help!
Phone: Galaxy Nexus 4.0.2
ClockworkMod 5.5.0.4
i had the same problem, i fixed it by
Plugging my phone in the pc
Going to Fastboot screen in my phone
Doing the "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and re-install clockworkMOD (whilst the phone is plugged in and on the fastboot recovery menu)
then it worked for me, and make sure the verison you install is the latest clockworkmod version.
I rooted phone unlocked the phone and i am getting an error 7 message!
Tried to flash 2.3.6 still getting error.Wiped data off still getting error!
I have been searchine over 5 hours to find a clear solution but i am confused!
Can anyone give a hint!

if you have stock ics then it will automaticly disapear. you have to have a custom rom if you want it to stay

To boot up from CWM Recovery with Active Stock recovery(Stock script not modified)
From CWM app
1) Click flash CWM image one more time, regardless previous recovery image
2) Click Reboot to recovery, you will see CWM recovery screen..the identify for CWM recovery is the cool man with hat icon.
I have used above steps to go to CWM Recovery for long compared to those recommendation of modifying stock recovery script..the problem of modifying the stock script is overtime you have forgotten what have been changed from stock..the next Manual update of Google Official patch which will give error.

1) update to 4.0.4 you can use these instructions: http://andwise.net/?p=275.
Once you update that you will have another recovery image anyway.
2) the recovery image is coming back becuase you probably have this:
Code:
service flash_recovery /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
in your init.rc(in boot image)
you cn either change your boot image and comment this line or just rename or replace the /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.
For any of these you need root access.
I advise not to do that as you may need the stock recovery to get updates.
I have a new Transformer TF101 that I rooted with vipermod.
I tried installing CWM using the recovery installer at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180, but it kept giving me parsing errors when I tried to run the apk. This happened when I copied over the su from bin to xbin.
So I tried Rom Manager to install the CWM there, but when I try to boot into it, it would get stuck saying Booting recovery kernel image.
If I try to use the Transformer Reboot to Recovery app, it gets stuck at the boot screen and goes into a semi reboot loop where If I try powering it off, it automatically powers on again and I had to do a data wipe to recover.
Does anyone have any idea how I can solve this? I really don't want to be stuck on Android 3.1 forever since it won't update to ICS with the stock update either now.
The android version is 3.1, Build is 8.4.4.11.
Thanks!
I know you already tried this installer, but check out this link.
You could also try using ADB to install the CWM recovery: link.
Read through there and follow the instructions around step 6 since you're already rooted.
If this doesn't work:
Does the ASUS recovery not work at all? As in holding vol-down while powering on then pressing vol-up to enter recovery? If it does you could try an update.zip to flash back to the old stock version that supports old razorclaw and use that to flash recovery reroot and pop a ROM on there (stock rooted ICS or otherwise) I'll give further help if you have to resort to this. Your firmware is to old for RecoveryInstaller to work. Manually update to latest ICS, root with ViperMod and use RecoveryInstaller for CWM.

I flashed a recovery with odin, and rooted my phone. However, I can't get it boot into CWM recovery. ROM Manager says I have CWM 3.0.0.8, however whenever I reboot into recovery it opens "Android System Recovery <3e>" in blue lettering.
Any insight?

Hi. Did you boot into stock ROM after flashing? If so, that's why you lost everything. If I were you, and I was about a year ago, I would go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070
P.S. don't use ROM manager to flash anything. Bad things usually happen
