what do you guys think of this case, I hate the case that comes with the sensation by default, really makes the phone look ugly,
any one think this is a better idea? I will be moulding this design in the near future as a prototype

I like the second picture actually, and I got to admit the back looks pretty awesome on both pictures. I totally missed it the first time I looked at the first picture. I just wonder how you are going to handle te curved at the bottom of the device cause in both pics it looks like you have the glass going to each corner and not being rounded like the corners are stock on the device. Now I know this just might be a small thing over looked in when you made the concept pictures. But to actually do this I would think you would have to have another screen manufactured to just fit the case. So personally I am thinking you are probably going to have to make the case to precisely fit the stock screen. Just a observation I made.

the glass would remain as is, and I would try to find some sort of workaround to create the gloss effect such as using several layers of paint laquer to create the sheen/shine,
I think the second one looks great, everyone is entitled to their opinion however
the mod would start off with me first of all creating a 3d mould and printing these off at my university ... ;-)

i think the iphone case is the best phone shape ever created, i just dont like the software os, if iphone case + android would be my dream phone, I like something a bit more square,
with the sensation there are too many weird curves (the glass, the back, the edges),
the desire hd was more square then they ruined the sensations design,

It is cheap plastic and looks bad in nature. I got two of them. Ebay sells them as metallic back plates. Pure crap.

It does look nice, I just wanted to mention I used to work at a place that sold cell phone accessories (cheap ones like what's on ebay, etc) and we had these for the iPhone 4. For that at least they were not so nice plastic things that didn't feel great and broke easily taking the phone in and out. These may be different though!
I have the black one on my phone and my girl has the pink one. Got them both off ebay. Its not really metal on the back, but it has protected my phone MORE than a few times and is still looking good. I think its worth the price. Looks good and its not too bulky either.
I was a bit bored of the usual silicone/hybrid/hard cases on the market coz it just made the handset look bulky, so I decided to give these skins a try.

Normally i'd leave those sort of cases for my iPod, but that actually looks pretty decent...
the touch sensitive buttons work through the skin (dunno how obvious that is) and i love the fact the wallpaper matches it

i'm using a mumbi Silicon Case, looks not even half as good.
make no mistake a silicone case will protect it much better than this, but it makes the phone look bulky than it already is...as if it needed extra thickness (+ i got insurance so if it breaks i'm not worried)

I myself use gelaskin; I wanted a custom design and I only wanted the back to look different, and a clean front so people can see its a HTC . but since i have no insurance i do use a transparent TPU case over it . I am content with the gelaskin so far .
you can get hold of custom designs from diabloskinz. + where does it say htc on the front =p

Well I just wanted to share with everyone my experience with the back cover and the color coming off after 1 1/2 weeks from the retail box. When I called HTC they did not give me any problems and sent me a new one.
I have kept the phone on Micro-Fiber cloths and what short time it is in a case it is in the T-Mobile sleeve for the Sensation which is soft inside. So I know it is not my use which caused it, the case is possible but I doubt it.
Bottom line is I think their could be some paint/color issues with the back cover so keep a watch for it and if you notice it call HTC and get a replacement.
So has anyone else experienced this? Please leave your comments.

It looks like normal wear and tear from the body oils on your hands. I hope that isn't the case and their was some real issue. If this "issue" happens again I probably wouldn't ask for another case personally. On the bright side you can probably sell that other case for like $40 right now.

Same thing happened to me the first week I had the phone... I returned mine to T-Mobile for another one. Glad to see I wasn't the only one! Good luck with the replacement cover.

No when it leaves the micro fiber cloth it goes in to the slip pouch. I'm very protective of my phones and I will never put one of my phones in my pocket unprotected.
Other phones I have like the thunderbolt and MT4G I have never had this problem.
I just hope the new case holds up better.
Happened with my XPERIA X1 (made by HTC), happened to my N1, and now it will probably happen to my Sensation. Good to know.
Perhaps it's the skip pocket and the constant slipping in and out of something that fit's so tightly.

Perhaps but the slip case is from T-Mobile and for the sensation and is lined with a soft material. And I mean how many times I could have taken it in and out over 12 days period is, well not that many times as while I'm working I use my work phone.
I might try a different case on this new back cover to see if it makes a difference.
I feel like all phone covers with this surface will be rubbed off eventually
I am having the same problem. I've had the phone 3 weeks, and it is looking pretty bad. It only seems to affect the top third of the case. I'll try calling HTC...
btw, I am also using the t-mobile slip case...
Good thing I got a cover for it to avoid this. Although this does look like normal wear and tear.

You think this looks like normal wear and tear for a 12 day old phone? I would agree if the phone was older maybe but if the paint is coming off this quick after purchase I just can't see it being normal. Also this phone has been in a case when not on my micro fiber cloth.

I've had mine 35 days now and no visible wear on the cover. I have ZERO protection on my phone and it's either in my cheap holster during work or taking up it's solo pocket location in my jeans/shorts. My holster interior is not really that soft and I holster the phone a ****load throughout the day. Honestly... I would expect my phone to have a lot of wear already. I've been in love with the sexy feel of this phone since day one and find myself holding and caressing it sometimes even when I'm not using it.
Not sure if that helps or not but due to my holster and my almost perverse fascination with the feel of this device I would expect to see some wear on mine.
Exact reason I got my tpu Case. Need to keep the resale value up.

No it was definitely made by HTC, just sold by Sony. Because Sony could never produce a decent device. And THAT phone had a problem with its backcover, horrible I finished with rubbing ALL the color off, basically turning the black model into a silver model Looked as if it were new. But I think that's kinda hard to do with the Sensation because there are electronics in the cover. Or is it just metal parts for the antenna?

I also had X1 and the exact same thing happened to me. The cover changed the color from black to silver
Exactly two weeks ago, I purchased this black transparent battery door:

I got it as I was finding a replacement for the stock one as it had developed cracks on two sides of the battery door.
Today the package arrived and I have a mixed mind about it.

Pros -
It's certainly lighter
Because it is not as snug as stock, it vibrates louder lol
It looks really good
It's $9
Cons -
It's not as snug (literally half a mm too big on all sides)
Not as strong
Oil and finger prints mark easily
The edges are sharp, while stock is well sanded down
When you grip the whole phone, the back moves a bit
I think I'll probably use it for a week, then switch back to stock. We'll see

It also comes in a lot of other colours from a few websites - transparent orange, pink, blue, (probably more) for the same price.
I picked black because I have a lot of black things and others may look a bit tacky, also if the internals of the phone were white the colours would look amazing but as they're not there's the potential for them to be washed out.

I hear a lot of crap, even among Google fans, about the N5 not being so great looking. I'm having trouble believing I'm the only person who thinks this device (black version without a case) is incredibly sexy... I absolutely love how minimalist it looks and how solid it feels. It doesn't look like a try-hard device. Previously the sexiest device award went to the white iPhone 4s, and then to the white S4, and then to the iPhone 5c, so I'm excited to finally have the world's sexiest phone be both a black device AND Nexus device.
I like the looks of it for sure. It might not be THE nicest looking phone out there, but it's nowhere near ugly.

I completely agree with you, although personally Im a huge fan of the htc one with the front facing speakers. From a visual standpoint as well as a functionality stand point I wouldnt mind see that look. Then again I also wouldnt mind seeing an aluminum body but overall, this phone IS sexy

My dream design is just a generic black monolith slate. But they did manage to throw in some subtle curves here without going overboard or looking to busy or gaudy or detracting from the minimalism. I suppose they could have done a chamfered front edge, but then I'd expect them to ditch the subtle curve on the back. You know, one or the other; curved back or chamfered front edge, but one of the surfaces needs to be flat (incidentally, Apple got this right with iPhone 5/5s, although that's about all they got right with that particular design).

It's definitely sexy. I hated the look of the N4. It was just so... Squarish. I like that this one has a taller and thinner profile. I had a white one to start, after breaking that one I went with the Black and I actually like the black better. I may try to add some color to the nexus logo on the back.

Mine looks like a cheap plastic case I bought on ebay holding a slab of somewhat less cheap plastic containing some electronics just like every other phone I ever owned. Another way to say it, don't care.
