Thank you glad you like it . There Apps from 2.3.7 i pulled them from a CM7 build. I could post some screenshots but there just stock gb apps, you could probably search on google images for them.

So umm is this a flashable zip? Do we need to do a MAster Reset? Wipe Dalvik Cache?
Some instructions would be nice on the appropriate way to install this rom

Oh yeah sorry, completely forgot about that lol. Its a CWM flashable zip, i recommend you wipe everything (factory reset in cwm, wipe dalvik cache) but if coming from supercharged v5 , or stock 2.3.6 you may not need to, just wipe cache and dalvik cache and flash zip

good work +rep testing for bugs..

So to be UBER clear, the way to install SuperCharged V5 was for me to restore the un-zipped file with CWM via the Atrix 2 bootstrap recovery app. Instead are you saying to install the zip file directly with CWM via the bootstrap?

YAHOOO!!! Way to go!!

Yes, Supercharge was a CWM backup with data wiped, this is a CWM .zip that you flash in CWM, not extract and restore it.

Yes, wiped data, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache in CWM

Ok question here. I'm am used to flashing roms, just not on a Motorola using bootstrap. I'm on stock, rooted 2.3.6. Now if i make a nandroid of the stock rom I'm on and flash this and don't like it, will the nandroid back up work to put my phone back to stock the way i have it now our do i need to do extra steps? Like i said i have never used bootstrap and was just curious to see if it was just like a regular cwm recovery.

Yes, it will, just make a backup, then restore and you will be exactly like you were when you made the backup. I recommend Using the CWM on boot .zip after flashing a rom, so you will get CWM every boot, because you cant access bootstrap CWM with a button combo like on most phones. So if something messes up, you will have to restore to stock with fastboot. You get what im saying?

[ MOD ] Custom MTD Partitions by Firerat (resize Cache, Data & System)

This thread is based on Firerat's work, just modded a little to be more specific for the EVO, so be sure to thank him for his work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717874
I modded the script so a default of 250MB for system & 125MB for cache(leaves ~570MB for data) is included, so the mtdpartmap.txt in the SD card is not required unless you want to change those. If a mtdpartmap.txt is detected in the SD card during flash, it will overwrite those defaults values with whatever is in the mtdpartmap.txt.
For those that want to change the default values, just mod the attached mtdpartmap.txt
S-OFF is required
This is not for the faint of heart and requires how to flash using fastboot if you want to revert back to stock partition sizes, so if your not comfortable with ANY of the install & uninstall steps below, DO NOT FLASH THIS!!!
Be sure to check how much space your current ROM uses in the system & cache partitions before flashing this, so that way you don't cause problems with this MOD
Most de-odex'd ROMs should be fine with a 250MB system partition but those that are using a Desire HD/Z based ROM might need 300MB or slightly more, so be sure to double check your current system/cache usage before flashing
Also, too small of a cache partition will cause errors with some games & downloading of OTA updates as it uses the cache partition as the download folder
Install
1. Copy FR_Boot_CustomMTD_v1.5.7b_for_EVO, FR_Recovery_CustomMTD_v1.5.7b_for_EVO, FORMAT_ALL zips(& custom mtdpartmap.txt if you want to change the default sizes) to your SD card
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Make a Nandroid backup if you didn't already
4. Format cache, data & system partitions using my FORMAT_ALL.zip for ease
6. Flash FR_Recovery_CustomMTD_v1.5.7b_for_EVO.zip(this patches the recovery to use the custom partition sizes)
7. Reboot into recovery again
8. Restore Nandroid backup or flash new ROM but don't reboot
9. Flash FR_Boot_CustomMTD_v1.5.7b_for_EVO.zip(this patches the kernel to load the custom partition sizes)
10. Reboot
NOTE
Everytime you flash a new ROM or kernel, you must flash the FR_Boot_CustomMTD_v1.5.7b_for_EVO.zip afterwards, so the kernel gets modded to load the custom partition sizes
Uninstall
1. Make a Nandroid backup if you didn't already
2. Boot into Bootloader and select Fastboot USB
3. Reflash custom recovery console using Fastboot
Code:
Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
4. Reboot into recovery
5. Format cache, data & system partitions using my FORMAT_ALL.zip for ease
6. Restore Nandroid backup or flash new ROM, if the restore contains a kernel that has modded partition sizes, then reflash the kernel
7. Reboot
Examples
Default 250/125 settings leaves this much on wipe

so besides the increase in available data space, is there any performance advantages?
No real advantages besides that you regain all the lost space from the cache & system partitions

Thats the thing more space= Faster performance cause its not lagging trying to scoop up memory for stuff

Do we have to do this all the time before a new rom or is it gonna b in there all the time?

If your low on memory, then I can see some performance increases but I guess I'll have to do a before and after benchmark to see for sure.

Amazing work Calkulin! I am going to test this on mIuI.
Thank you Calk. I was just looking into this thread over on the G1 forums. This is going to come in very handy.
What recovery is the custom recovery based on?
EDIT
NM: Reading comprehension problems. Now I see that it patches the recovery. My other question is do you guys think resizing and creating a swap partition would be beneficial? I already have a lot of free space on /data after moving dalvik-cache to /cache.
Thanks Calk.
Just flashed this, nand restored, and I have 100+ mb available.
Edit: I have about 100mb MORE available than before making this mod on the same ROM/kernel combination.
seems very ricky lol sorry but i have bricked 2 evos lol from not listening to what a guide says and trying my way lol
it would be really cool if someone made a tut and put it on utube or something there needs to be more vids on there of evo any way and no junkphone i mean iphone lol

yeah I used ROM Toolbox to download Gingerbread just now, then updated to Liberty. so far it seems to be booting up, but gingerbread gave me a problem where my phone volume was too soft. I hope liberty's software won't repeat that issue since I'm coming from gingerbread.
That's not the ota update.
Installed rom, very quickly got insufficient space on device error message while restoring apps through market. But plenty on phone and on sd. Clear data on market and reboot, still no go. Any ideas? No reply on RootzWiki...

Your answer is 2 posts back. Do NOT use Gingerbread from the toolbox. That is the old leaked version. Sound would have restored to normal after a reboot. Data probably broke because tje version of Liberty you tried was for Official OTA Gingerbread.
So now you probably need to sbf, then from Froyo, select menu, settings, about phone, system updates. Then you can root using new D3 method.

Is there a way to get the OTA update without being connected to a network. Maybe thru wifi? I've looked everywhere on the internet for it but it doesn't seem like its out there yet.
Just want to let everyone know, I have installed this ROM and so far it is fantastic.
I love that it has all of the USB modes available for sync'ing with a PC. This is something I sorely missed with CM7.
Just tried to install this ROM. I had MIUI on it so I SBF'd it back to 2.3.20. Phone was up and going with a fresh install. Re-rooted. Installed bootstrap 1.0.0.5 and then attempted Liberty. Got stuck on the 'M' logo. What did I do wrong?

So if I read this correctly, I can't install this ROM from CM7? That's a pain in the ass, because if I have to flash back to OTA Gingerbread, then I can't run CM7, because it only runs on a Froyo base.
Unless, and please tell me if this will work, if I make a backup of CM7, flash back and OTA to Gingerbread and install Liberty. Will the CM7 backup be able to be restored if Liberty was installed on Gingerbread?
No you can not flash back to froyo based cm7. You can run rev's cm7 which is built to run on ota gingerbread. Its in rom toolbox.
I think you misunderstood. I'm running cm7 now, but wanted to run Liberty. If liberty only installs over Gingerbread ota, but cm7 only installs over Froyo (the 2.4.330 sbf), I can't backup cm7, sbf, take the ota, install Liberty and then restore the backup of CM7, can I?
my point is, it seems like we can either run CM7 OR Liberty, but we can't flash back and forth between both. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
You could restore to your cm7 after sbf back to froyo.
Or run revnumber's cm7 on the ota and liberty. Revnumber's cm7 builds can be downloaded from rom toolbox app and run on the ota gingerbread
Interesting. Sorry for the hijack, but how stable is the revnumbers release? I think my current cm7 (http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=cdma_droid2we&type=stable) might be the cause for my other app issues, like Boot Manager. I tried installing this version of Liberty into an SD port in Boot Manager and it bootlooped; the dev canpt figure out why the D2G doesn't load the ROMs properly, so I think it might be the CM7 I'm using that's over Froyo.
Its as stable as froyo cm7. Its the same rom just has some lib files updated to run on gingerbread kernel. You can check out rootzwiki.com. that's where it is posted and discussed
Sounds good thx. I'm going to SBF, OTA and try both CM7 and Liberty. I'll report back.

I promise you we are hard at work on it************************************************************There is a new version at the bottom of the post. If you already have a safe system installed you will need to reflash the zip and wipe data/factory reset. Thanks Jim for the fix! There are now 2 different versions 1 for those not running jims webtop hack and one for those of you that are. Please download the safestrap appropriate for your setup at the bottom of the page. ********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
What works?
-Everything except mounting usb in recovery.
-Cant seem to format safe system /data
Here it is!!! Our very own Unofficial safestrap recovery!
Whats this mean? Custom rom's!!! CM7 CM9 etc! And no more fxz or cwm on every boot just to save from a softbrick.
How'd we do it?
This was a pain in the A**, Jimbridgeman and myself have worked our butts off on this. We changed the recovery.fstab around so that we are able to use the sd card as a mount point to install the /system partition as well as a separate partition for /data. So in laymen's terms, were booting from the sd.
How to Install -(From Windows)
(Partition sizes are up to you but ext3 partition should be no less then 350mb and the second fat partition should be not less then 500mb)
1.Backup your sdcard
2.Format your sdcard from your phone under settings-storage
3.Put your sdcard into some kind of card reader and place into computer
4.Download, install, and open Mini Tool http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html
5. Right click on your sd card, click resize

6. Re size so that you have at least 850mb left "Unallocated"
7.Click OK
8.Click apply changes
9.Right click on unallocated partition and select create
10. Click Yes
11.I went with 1gb, this is the data partition, It needs to be at least 500mb and your settings must match mine. Primary,Fat32
12.Click apply changes
13.Right click on unallocated space, select create
14.Click Yes
15. This is the System partition and needs to be at least 350mb, Your settings must match mine. Ext3,Primay
16.Click on apply changes.
17.Click Yes.
18.You are all done! Should look something like this.

I'm assuming that like with the razr if you are using the bootstrap with on boot you have to remove it before installing the safe strap version?
Thank you
I knew it was only a matter of time!!!!!!
Thank you guys
A link worth sharing http://hash-of-codes.blogspot.com/p/how-to-safestrap.html , this is the original safestrap for D3 and RAZR done by hashcode , take a look at his blog to understand more about safestrap if you are a noob like me.
but there is only one question i need to understand using this hack can we install roms on the 1st system ( device memory ) or just on the 2nd system ( SD Card ) ?
This is what I have been using instead of the bootstrap, to use my custom ROMS... it will allow you to use your paid version of CWM the way it should be used. You can now go into CWM and select boot to CWM or flash from sdcard while still in android, and it will boot you into CWM and start flashing....
Thanks for all your hard work!

So essentially, this is a dual boot system of sorts? This allows me to install a custom ROM and run it in Safe mode then go back to my factory ROM by turning off Safe mode?

great work man
but is it ... 2012 ?
Should I wait to setup safestrap until you get this fixed, or can I go ahead with it and just replace the .apk later?

And sometimes the backups get deleted when you want free space and decide you don't need the backup anymore... I always delete my backups when I know I no longer need them.
Messed up for me anyway. Still had the custom boot animation and status bar after flashing and no homescreen, was just a black screen with a notification bar. Setup wizard force closed. Restored my backup after about a minute. Will stick to Odin...

Doesnt work. Did you just replace system folder in WeUI ROM? Stuck at boot logo when data and cache is wiped. Doesnt stick if data cache isnt wiped.

why is it that the first post states that this is xxla2, when it turns out, this is jpla1, meaning there are no european languages in it.

I know this is an old thread but I found 5360L sitting around that was stuck in bootloop so I tried this rom and now I get "Encryption Unsuccessful" message, wipe data did not solve the problem, phone not recognized by Odin. Any suggestions?

bro, cyanogenmod 9.1 need to install by an ext4 cwm (cwm v5.0.2.8) and formatting to rfs won't help you . install cm9.1 can fix a phone is an impossible thing, except if there's magic .

Looks like the Nexus Trolls are at it again! In case you dont know the trolls are jealous hateful people with no skills that go around rating everyone's thread 1 star. I really kind of feel sorry for these sad little creatures One day they may seek the therapy they need (and move out of there parents basement).
But untill then...
Can I get everyone to thank the Opening Post and rate it 5 stars?

Dirty flash over Scott's 5.1 with cache / Davlik clear appears to work fine.
My magnetic screen off sensor is not working after the update. Flashed this zip but I'm quite sure it's not the problem of the zip. Anyone else?
