I'm currently having trouble installing the Google Play Store over the old Market app. I've downloaded 3.4.6 and 3.4.7 as .apks and still nothing works. How do I delete the old Android Market? I can't find it in system/app thanks!
I'm currently using CM9 v2.1 + Black Infinitum.

check /data/app/
if its in there then you might want to move it to /system/app/

Dont use any apks you have downloaded.
Try this:
Delete the apk you have installed (uninstall updates)
Clear data
Connect to wifi
Go into market
Press home, let the wifi be on
Wait ca. 5 minutes
Go into market again. If promoted accept google play
If the old market comes up, press home and let the wifi be on
Wait another 5 minutes
Go into market again and accept the terms.
Let me know if it helped

I checked where you specified and no Market .apk exists in there either. :/

Thanks for the help. However, my default Market (v3.4.4) doesn't have any updates. The only options I can select are "Force Stop" and "Disable". Also, I've left WiFi on and nothing is prompting me to update to Google Play.
There is one wierd issue though. After force closing the Market app to see if it would update, it didn't update to Google Play but when I launched the Market app it asked me to accept the new Google Play terms and conditions. (I am still on the old Market app though.)

Hmm, thats reakly wierd. If nithing helps, try a clean update of your phone

Music Beta Issue

I just got my Google Music Beta invite, and have finally uploaded all my songs to it. I installed the app on CyanogenMod 7.0.3.1, still no issues.
The problem I am running into is the app doesn't have a "Settings" button whenever I press Menu, and I cannot sign into my Google account in app.
Would anyone be able to post an apk for this app that is working for them?
Thanks in advance!

It doesn't work like that you receive only one invite and that one is for yourself and linked to your gmail you cannot give it away.

I could be wrong, but maybe you're opening the Music app that comes with CM7. The Music app that comes pre-installed and Music Beta both share the same app title (Music) and icon. Go into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > All and see if you have two apps called Music. Music should be version 3.0.1. Uninstall the other one with Titanium Backup.
There's definitely a Settings option from the homescreen of the Music Beta app

As well as the sign in that you're referring to
Hmm I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest music and I have no settings buttons.
On an HTC Evo running CM7..quite irritating..

Not working for me either. Followed the link, then opened the market when it gave me the option of using the browser or market. Had Music, even downloaded a few of the freebies, rebooted, and no Music in the market. Bummer.
My market updated itself earlier today after I updated my ROM. Possibly just clearing caches would work. When I opened the market I had to accept
a user agreement and then music was added.

I was able to get it by clearing cache and data.

Didn't work for me but this did:
Go to the desktop (web) version of the market from your phone and click on the music tab on the left. Then when the popup comes up choose to open it with android market, not browser. You should get another popup to accept the terms of the market and viola! you now have the new market, no reboot needed. Here's a link to the music section just in case.
https://market.android.com/music
Edit: actually you may still need to reboot. The new market didn't stick for me until I rebooted. I would just reboot from the market to be safe.

I rip everything I can of Google out of my phone. At this point, I have maps, contacts, the market, and the respective libraries. Nothing else.
The reason is that Google is an evil corporation that plays the nice guy act, in order to harvest all of our data. I would rather pay for my services than bend over for Google.
The way I look at it, Apple does not give you control, and makes you pay for that service. Google gives you a false sense of control over your phone, all the while tightening the shackles on their new data slave.

[HELP] Play Store or F-Droid stuck at "installing" on some apps

Hello,
I have a stock Nexus 5 and some apps can't be installed from the Play Store or F-Droid, both hang at "installing" stage.
The workaround I found was using an app to download the apk from the Play Store then installing it from the file browser (FX) where it installs without any problem, but I can't do that for F-Droid, and it's frustrating to have a new shiny that doesn't perform as well as it could. [emoji24]
Seeing the problem is on both app sources I guess it's rather the installer which has a problem but I don't know where to look for that.
Any help would be welcome.

It uses the same package installer as manually installing an .apk, just does it in the background. File Explorers don't install .apk files either, they just launch the package installer. So it's an issue with your Play Store, not the installer itself.
Why would it happen with F-Droid too then if it's a Play store problem?
In case it can help it happens when installing Dashclock for example, I'm testing with it as it's on both repositories.

F-Droid too, then. Maybe a permissions or network issue.
If it works "manually" installing an .apk but doesn't with a market/repository app it isn't the installing process' fault.
Permissions would most likely affect all packages, while in my case it happens only with some, and it's not random as the same app will always fail or succeed.
Anyone knows what the name of the installer is? I can't figure it when checking applications list.

That's AMAZING can't wait to get home lol
Got it mine, you can see a lot more apps now, still very few useful ones but lots of games. I even spotted ES File Explorer which I know some people have said they had a issue installing after a recent update.
Tested it a bit yesterday, very very nice improvement IMO. I could be wrong but I think it's still missing a few compatible apps..
It's getting somewhere at least, we might see more over the next couple of days
can this be installed on cm12.1 with gapps-lpmr1-x86-leanback-20150524-signed.zip or is it only for factory os?

I posted a comment about this in the official CM 12.1 thread. You can install the APK without doing anything special on CM 12.1 from within the OS. There is no need to boot into recovery to flash this.
I installed the apk and now the Play Store won't load anything. Just spinning. Anyone else have this issue? On a side note anyone know how to rollback to the previous version?
Goto your app settings and clear the cache and data. See if that helps

I'm having the same problem, but I didn't side-load. I just got the player today and in the apps it shows this version, but the store won't load. I factory reset it about a half hour before this post
edit: factory reset and letting it sit fixed it. Must have been queued to update the app and was just waiting until it was installed. Took like an hour of sitting overall.
Finally....
This update was long overdue. Google should have done this when the Nexus Player was released.
