gps - HTC Sensation

any recomandation for gps?
google map is really suck-.-
compare to iphone papago

Sygic Aura isn't bad. It's not free though.

That's the first I've ever heard that. Google maps navigated me 3000 miles without a hitch. I was playing music from my phone the whole time too. Using Google maps and the stock music player, it automatically dims the music to announce directions. Plus I swear when I search for the website of a place(like a restaurant) I use Google maps instead if Google, because it's more accurate.

My gps works perfect. With all ICS ROMs, with all GB ROMs. Navigon select, sygic or googlemaps.

"podcast" app?

this isn't really specific to the DX, but it's what i have so i'm asking here:
i'm looking for an app that will play really long mp3's (like hours long... like a podcast) and, more specifically, will remember where you are in the podcast when you quit the program and start back up at that point when you want to start listening again.
currently i'm just using the native music app and i have to try and remember myself where i left off in a podcast and manually skip ahead to that point every time i need to stop and then come back to a particular file.
thanks for the info!!
I've been using Google Listen for audio podcasts

I like .podkast. I download and listen to them with it.
Carcast. You can search for, download, and listen to podcasts in it. It remembers where you are in the podcast and restarts it from where you left off. It's also free...
Stitcher is the best podcast app it seems to have everything

Check out PodTrapper. I used this app all the time when I had a Blackberry. When the dev came out with the Android version, I made the switch over to Android.
It's a powerful app that I use on a daily basis.

Beyond Pod works great
Doggcatcher. best podcast app there is. and it's temp on sale with funds going to support Japan.
Listen....
Ive used pretty much all of them (except for DoggCatcher, because it aint free...)... Heres my humble opinion:
For almost one year, i used aCast, in my rooted HTC G1 (CyanogenMod 6.1), worked fine, until out of the blue, stopped catching...
I have to say, i ONLY use it to download and listen to TWiT casts... ive also been looking for an entertaining podcast featuring alternative punk rock music, but havent been sucessfull (suggestions are appreciated).
After aCast, i went on trying mostly every single podcast catcher i could...
Hapi Podcast worked awesome on my Droid X for maybe 4 months, i actually rated it 4 stars and an inspiring comment, and then.. poof... no synching..
Ive been happy now with Google Listen... Its the most simple of them all, plus, it syncs well with google reader on your pc. It remembers where you left on all your casts.. (well i usually sync down oly 5 or 6, and it does remember the part where im at, every time)
Google Listen seems to be my the app for the job.

Music Streaming Services

I went from a HD7 to Radar, thinking I don't need space if I can stream music. But I haven't been successful.
Spotify - Sporadically works. Not enough to make it worth $10 a month. Support says they don't support the Radar. They know there are issues.
Rdio - Can't get it to stream often enough, or it's too slow.
Rhapsody - Can't play music. Streams radio stations fine.
Zune Pass - Streams almost 100% of the time, but no easy way to manage/create playlists. This makes it cumbersome to just enjoy music while driving/working out.
Obviously this could be due to data coverage, but I'm in the DFW area, usually with full bars of 4G.
Any other apps you guys use? Any that stream from a home connection like Google Music allows? Mango support is a must.
I have a zune pass , as well as a premium slacker account , which is surprisingly robust. I have also used the google music beta here for wp7. I have not tried Spotify. I stay away from monthly charges when I can , so I did the 1 year Zune pass for $100 . Seems to be the best value . I like getting new releases instantly . But I also never really mess with playlists. The smart DJ feature seems to work really well for a Pandora-esque substitute if you're looking to stay in a genre .
There are a lot of options out there . But Zune pass seems to be the most convenient for me

Android (Speech and Voiceover in relation to other apps)

Hi,
First of all I'm not sure this is posted in the right area so apologies if it needs to be moved.
I have an issue with ICS 4.0.4 where it seems as though the audio/voiceover for apps such as Maps and adidas miCoach seem to have priority over the audio.
on GB miCoach used to voiceover the music (poweramp or stock music player) simultaneously but now it seems to have priority and pauses the music to speak it's commands. The same can be said for Maps which I experienced today.
On this basis I'm presuming it is something to do with the operating system.
Is there any way these priorities can be altered so I can have the music and app audio play at the same time?
I'd appreciate any suggestions
Thanks

[Mirror][app] TinyShark 3.1.5 (Groveshark client)

Update: I hadn't realized the original developer still has this on their website. I searched Google before but didn't find any place to download, that's why I posted the mirror. But later on I stumbled upon it. The developer's site is http://exigocs.com you can also download TinyShark Downloader from there.
It's no longer available on Play Store, but I downloaded it shortly after I got Android. I then discovered soon after it was removed from Play Store, so it has since lived on my sdcard with TitaniumBackup, since I did a lot of ROM flashing.
Despite not being updated for over a year, it works great on Jelly Bean , and is still is one of the best Grooveshark apps for android I've ever tried, with playlists, offline cache option, and more.
With offline cache, you can effectively use this as a mobile Grooveshark downloader. It dumps the songs into sdcard/tinyshark_songs/ where they have id3 tags, but are just named a bunch of numbers. You could cache them 1 at a time, then go there and rename the file to whatever you want, or you could just copy to your PC and use software to use id3 to name the files.
Here is the original description:
Listen to Grooveshark on your Android device for FREE.
- Search the Grooveshark database
- Import Grooveshark playlists
- Play individual songs or an entire playlist
- Cache songs for offline playback
Does NOT require Adobe Flash to play music (Settings -> Use Flash Player). TinyShark now does not need Flash for music playback, but it is still an option for those that find it works better.
Starting with version 3.0 a lot has changed under the hood. A lot of fixes are being made so check for updates often. If you are having problems try reinstalling and create a new shortcut in your launcher. If you are still having issues please email details and send any crash reports you can.
Thanks to everyone that's been emailing!
To download songs try Tinyshark Downloader also available in the market.
Taken from:
http://www.bestappsmarket.com/p/app?appId=8894&title=tinyshark
It really works much better with "Use Flash Player" unchecked. [You have to do that to enable Offline Cache]
The app id is com.exigo.tiny

thanks for sharing! I recently used the groove mobile but it wasn't good at all.

Edit: my bad downloaded via phone but showed as zip. Working fine via PC.
Thanks for sharing!
Not connecting
I am experiencing some problems during the last month with this amazing app. It doesn't connect, when i try to connect i can see the 'connecting...' with the yellow light, but in a few seconds becomes again 'Disconnected' with the red light. Is it just me or this app is not working now?
I am having the same issue as well.
Try using tinytunes app from play store.
It's from the same developer but not related to grooveshark
It's pretty good.
As I am a new user I am not able to paste the link.

If you guys are having issues with 3.1.5 you need to first uninstall 3.1.5 and then update to 3.1.7 found on their website http://exigocs.com/. If you still have problems download and install tiny shark downloader.

I would consider this app *warez* for the fact it is used to steal music off a site that is know for being borderline legal anyways. There is a reason Google removed it from Play.
Just sayin.
Also, buy the music you like. Support your artists

Sadly, by buying music you're supporting the music industry (RIAA). By going to concerts you're supporting the artists.

Not the artists I listen to. I buy direct from them or their independent label.
If your music is controlled by the RIAA then you need to stop listening to USA Top 40 and go out and find real music.
Either way is better then supporting this app.
But back to why I brought this up, if XDA allows this app then why not all the other MP3 downloaders in the play Store?
Mod maybe answer?

How to setup squid Proxy for tinyshark for streaming?
Somehow my T-Mobile connection seems to be blocking the tinyshark connection. Whenever I use the T-Mo data connection, my tinyshark would immediately show disconnected.
I managed to setup a squid server so that it now shows "connected" ( squid log says TCP_HIT/200 1495 GET http://grooveshark.com/crossdomain.xml - NONE/- text/xml )
But the songs are not streaming...
Anyone has experience setting up squid for tinyshark that could share some insight?
Thanks!

Google Assistant no longer plays LOCAL music from library with voice commands

I'm surprised this hasn't gotten any coverage from any android site thus far. If you have local music files (aka not streaming, files you've uploaded to google play music) you can no longer play these files with voice commands. Google claims to be looking into it but it hasn't been fixed in months.

is the only place i can find talking about it.
is anyone else having this problem and unhappy about it?

I just got a new phone and I guess my old Nexus 5 (which I had upgraded to Nougat) didn't seem to have a problem but my new LG V30 has it. I can't seem to call on music like I used to, just by saying an artist or an artist and a song. I am not playing locally stored music (although that would also be nice) but music that I uploaded to the Google Play Music library. A terrible decision if this is how it is going to be.

I'm running Nougat on my Xperia Z5.
When I tell the Google Assistant «Play the song "track title"», it searches in YouTube and tries to open YouTube app. However, sometimes it plays it from my local storage using Google Play Music app.
But whenever I disconnect my phone from internet, Google Assistant always plays the song from phone's local storage using the same command.
By the way, it's very irritating that I have to turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data whenever I wanna play a song from my phone's storage.
