Theming the sensation - HTC Sensation

I know there is a tutorial on theming, but for me its not very clear. I have an acer a500 and used to have a mytouch 4g, once I finally settle on a specific rom and theme I enjoy, my next task is changing the themes color, not everybody enjoys purple so it's often not a choice among colors.
I am aware of decompiling apks and editing then recompiling, for .9.pngs and the likes. But something I was made aware of with my acer, the apkmanager I used was different than the one I used for my mytouch, is that the case with the sensation?
Also, I would life to do some changes within the m10 files, since flemmard stopped helping diamondback I haven't seen anything else equivalent as an m10 editor that works with sense 3.6.
I've seen some seriously awesome themes here, with things like the lock ring changed. I have used the search feature here on xda and google, but with so much information to wade through, and trust I did before posting this, that is a large headache.... I am currently on elegancia 3.3.3 using the base theme.
Just looking for a push in the right direction, thanks in advance.

[Request] Droid X Theme

Hey guys I was doing some searching and could not find any Droid X themes for my Incredible. Is there any themes that I'm missing, or better yet someone should make one !
Here's a link to one for the Motorola Droid for CM6, maybe it could get ported?
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/koush/58573-theme-xtheme-droid-x-cyanogenmod-6-a.html
Im still learning how to make themes, but i could try to duplicate this. Maybe bot as good, or not in the timliest of fashions, but i could try for you.

The theme I am using is a port from the Droid X. I would love to post the link for you but I am still new here so I cant post links. Check the androidforums website
Android Forums > Android Phones > HTC Incredible > All Things Root (Incredible) > ROMs (Incredible)
The thread is titled:
|THEME| Droid X Notification Bar/Framework, Detox from XDA
I attached some some screenshots of it for you.
LOVE IT!
I actually just edited the theme posted above to include the actual droid x status bar and signal strength images. I just can't figure out how to make the text black. Anyone know the easiest way to do that? I know it has to do with editing the services.jar file, but I don't even know where to begin with that.
Can I apply this over the PMF ROM?
I was gonna start working on one when 2.2 comes out. I wanted to keep sense. One thing that is an issue is I don't know how to change the font color for the ok, cancel, basically any button that has words on it is in black and you cant really see it because the buttons are so dark. I started doing a light weight mod for sense 2.1, but I'm gonna wait for Froyo and nand unlock.
I actually spent several hours over a course of two nights making a full red theme that's largely based on the Droid X's framework, but also includes a fair amount of the Incredible's original theme, only made a matching red. I could upload it, but it still has a couple of minor bugs. Overall, though, it's great. It was made to work with the pre-leaked OTA version.

Bluetopia port (Theme Request)

So as we all love the roms in this forum I stumble upon this rom set. I would like to see these ported to our Dinc phones as I think the themes absolutely kick ass. I like them both however I would love to see the Bluetopia ported. Here is the link to check out what I am talking about. I fsomeone can do this a considerable donation would be coming from myself. Although I am sure donations would come from many on this one.

Porting the rom would be ridiculous, especially considering some of it is broken and would be too much work making it functional for the incredible. If it is just the theme you want, that's easy to pull, but I'm downloading it right now to take a look at it.
That is correct. I would like that theme. but I would like to see it cooked into a rom you know. Please let me kow once you have looked at it. Cheers...

Whether it is just ported over as a theme to be flashed/metamorphed or its "cooked" into a rom, it is the same. a flashable theme is much more convenient, since you are only replacing files in your current system, as opposed to wiping and starting over just to gain different aesthetics in the same exact rom, and having to go through the annoying process of setting back up again for basically nothing. Right now, I am about to try it on SR 3.3.3 and see how it goes, then in Desire Z rom. If all goes well, I'll post it in the themes section and let you know, otherwise I will post failure here and let you know if it isn't working lol.
Well for the most part, in SR 3.3.3 it seemed to work. Everything functioned and almost all of the theme elements were there. But it was definitely incomplete. For one, most incredible roms incorporate smooth sense icons. The theme does not have this since it is from the desire, so that creates an issue because only 5 of the 100 battery icons were themed lol. same with the sync icon. For some reason the signal bars did not change even though I ported the com.htc.resources also. I think a couple system apps did not theme (People app for sure, not sure what others) and the dockbar was espresso style but did not have the themes color. I'm sure there were other missing elements but as it stands, this will become too much work for me to correct, especially since more people will want it on different roms, which means porting and troubleshooting those as well.
Thanks for your attempt. If I may ask one request can you please post the Expresso bar and lockscreen with the black clock in an update.zip form. Those are the 3 elements that i would really like to have. I appreciate it once again.
Cheers,
Shokouhi

1.80 vs 1.84 builds

I have noticed that the DHD section's themes are either for 1.72 or 1.84 ROM builds. Is the inspire the only phone to use 1.80? I'm trying to find themes that work on the twopumpchump stock ROM and of course none of them work.
Same here...I'm hoping someone start developing themes for that rom. It's a beast!
I'm looking into it, and reading up on it. Currently updating my java and updating sdk. No promises, but I will see what I can do.
if you want to know the differences in the builds, you can open the apks with apktool and then use beyond compare to compare them i havent checked in depth about what the differences are, but ive learned from my wm days that mixing 2 builds only ends up in disaster most of the time. if there is a particular theme that you like for the DHD, you could open the apks from the theme and that same apk from my rom and change out the images only then repack with apktool, sign it and it should work for a basic sense theme. some mods like % battery, extended power menu, ect also require adding/editing of some xml files. i am working with Wolf_2 on a new theme for my rom, we are gonna start this weekend but it will take some time to get it all done. it would be nice if we had some devs here for the inspire to make custom themes for our 1.80 based roms so we would have a nice selection like they have for DHD
Also just from taking a quick glance there are quite a few things that are found in different directories as well.

General question about CM7 now that it's here

Hey I was just wondering if its possible for users to theme cm7? I like the speed of it however I miss the transparency of the notification pull down and the dialer and so dark and ugly. I'm just wondering if it is possible and if so do you see a lot of users contributing themes to cm7? Thanks!
Its very possible. Cm7 has built in theme support, just check out the included theme chooser" app. There are many themes on the market and also cyanogenmod forums. They don't all include transparency of course but one which does that I like is cyanbreadx available free on the market.

I just downloaded it! Like it a lot. I had no idea themes would be on the market lol. I figured because it just came out there would have to be theme specific for the Sensation but I guess since CM7 is relatively the same on every phone they can just have themes that work for cm7 and not the phone specific. Any other good ones??

You just made me so happy. I was disappointed that the standard CM7 theme didn't have the CM light blue color replacing the green for the phone/messaging icons as well as the battery/data/wifi signal in the status bar but thanks to your post I just looked at the theme chooser app and found the "cyanbread" theme that had exactly what I was looking for.

I'm using mau5 at the moment. No transparency but it kind of turns me on. There are a load and tried quite a few a while back but I'm very happy with mau5 and cyanbreadx myself. Check the market for "cyanogenmod" or "cm7" and try a few yourself. Its a mater if personal tastes really.

I personally prefer the circlesmod's, they are all the theme i need
I have a link to a mod thread of mine in my signature, I'll be dablling in themechooser themes here soon... including adw themes, iconpacks etc... I'm JUST getting started creating things for the phone, I'm good with psp, just gotta figure out formatting for our resolution. Enjoy themeing!

[GUIDE][TOOL] Creating splash images for the HTC Hero

I know this is a bit late in the HTC Hero game but I still have mine and I still mess around with it a lot and while it wasnt until recently that I decided to see if I could dig up info on changing the splash screen and found some info and decided that I would create a nice little tool just to make it a bit quicker for me so I thought I would share it.
Huge than you to tehdarkknight for his original tutorial. Without it this would have not been possible.
All I did was simply create a easy to use batch file to make converting the images and automatically renaming them much easier for everyone.
tehdarkknights original HowTo can be found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7847088
What is a Splashscreen?
The splashscreen is the image that shows up before recovery/your ROM's bootscreen/etc... By default, it is the white screen with green HTC lettering (if you have flashed Sprint's 2.1 release.)
The method used here is for flashing the HERCIMG.zip via the bootloader (HBoot)
All of the instructions are included in the download and its pretty self explanatory.
Hope this is of use and hope it works for you.

Thanks for providing this. I find that bright white HTC screen rather annoying. It would be great to replace it with something far more muted.
By the way, have you ever replaced the boot animation screen that follows? I discovered UOT Kitchen, but I've been a bit leery to try it for fear of wrecking the bootloader and becoming stuck.. I'm on CM 7.2 with TWRP and the last CM ROM supported on UOT is 7.1. Plus, it only mentions being compatible with CWM 3. The boot animation doesn't require modifying any APK files, so that's one thing that is less concerning. But... you never know, until you hear about someone having tried it successfully.
Incidentally, I'm finding CM7.2 with TWRP to be a terrific combination. The phone is quite a lot better than it was. I missed having HTC Sense, but Fancy Widgets provides a nearly identical clock/weather widget so the home screen looks good. And of course functionally, you're so much more liberated with CM7. I wish I'd done this over a year ago!

UOT Kitchen won't "wreck your bootloader."
The boot animation is just a zip file in /system/media. It will either work or not. It won't stop anything.
Everybody has used UOT, you're just a litttttle bit late to the game.
Any questions just ask

What he said.
Thanks for the help, guys. Btw ajrty, I saw one of your more recent themes from earlier this year... looks really nice and dimensional. Did you create those icons or find them on-line?
Yeah, I do realize that I'm very late to the party... I missed a lot of the excitement with new ROMs and the tension in the early stages of getting things to work right. But on the flipside, a lot of the work has already been done making it easy for those who show up later. I do have a few questions about UOT Kitchen, as there's not a lot of info provided on the website. I know a series of GIF files wouldn't cause any harm, but I just worried that the other files that direct their usage might not be compatible. It's good to know this isn't the case. In retrospect, it makes sense that Android would be more robust and simply skip any incompatible scripting like that and proceed to normal boot.
Can you use UOT kitchen to generate font updates and various indicator replacements on the Hero with CM 7.2? Do you have to select "Amend scripting" versus "Edify scripting"? Concerning Cyanbread.apk and Androidian.apk, which one is preferable or required to upload so that the theme update works on the Hero? Lastly, is there a particular thread you recommend reading that provides a lot of useful tips and examples on using UOT Kitchen for the Hero?
Switched over to dev-host so should be easier to download for people. Guess Mediafire was requiring people to register to download the files and I know how that can be a pain sometimes just to DL a file.
Updated the download link if anyone want this still.
