HTC have been getting ICS for the last couple of days over in Europe.. So it's a little surprising that Samsung is not on the same timeline, if not even further ahead.

You think you're keeping your flash counter at zero by using a USB jig every time you Odin but then find out that flashing custom kernels like Da_G's cm7 kernel do in fact trip the counter even in cwm.
(Now I don't give a crap, I'm gonna see how high I can make this counter go!)

I think the best part is that I've almost saved enough for the Transformer Prime. One more short side job and I should have enough. I'll prolly keep saving though to get the keyboard dock with it. Can't wait~!

It's sad when we have all this video we want to watch on your SR but you don't have the opportunity to enjoy it because we live in a country where we have to do the driving pretty much every where we go. I got to live in Korea for a year just this past year. I enjoyed riding the subway. Never ran out of content to watch on my Galaxy S.

Yea, I've heard about a lot of WiFi issues, stuck pixels in the display and random freezups. I may just end up waiting it out. ... or I could pick up a regular Transformer off craigslist I spose. Impatience is killing me

Grabbed this (see sig) galaxy tab 10.1 when I returned prime. Currently running romans aokp build on it which is full ics with his tweaks and man I will tell u I am shocked by it on just a tegra 2 there is very little problems here although the camera currently doesn't work with this or cm9.... but I definitely understand the hard to wait game the transformer prime was bad ass but the wifi was absolutely useless on it once u got about 10 feet from the router no joke it went from 20 mb/s to 3 mb/s at about 15 feet away besides the wifi which is needed obviously and the GPS which I didn't really care the tfp was excellent and game play was second to none but that one design flaw ruined it. Sorry for the off topic guys

I think the Vivid receiving the update is a good sign that we are closer, and I completely understand the frustration. But there are plenty of other threads to talk about this in, no need for a new one.
I really really want it though, I'm waiting to root my phone after the update comes in.

Yeah, screw that. No one beats Samsung's screen display quality and I couldn't deal with anything less.
The Vivid has a higher resolution screen, but it's LCD and looks faded and dull next to the brilliant Skyrocket screen (just looked at a comparison on androidcommunity.com).
I know theres a bunch of this around, but this is pretty new News,
even tho we all know it WILL take months to roll out... but just some more news,

AT&T has listed its smartphones that will be getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming months.
Those devices are the LG Nitro, Motorola ATRIX 2, Motorola ATRIX 4G, Pantech Burst, Pantech Element, Samsung Captivate Glide, Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy S II, Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket, and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9.
The carrier made sure to note that it will take months for the updates to roll out to your device, but at least those are confirmed.

I think it's on Samsung more than AT&T.
We'll get it either from T-Mobile's rollout to the Hercules or Rogers rollout to their Skyrocket clone or from AT&T.

I just hope the next couple releases don't break driver compatibility.
Like Froyo and Gingerbread weren't a big deal to upgrade from Eclair. That's good. That reduces fragmentation. When you break driver compatibility, you make upgrading a monster pain in the ass and it's slow.

Sure, ICS might take awhile for the 727 and others already have it, but we _do_ have LTE and I love it- there's no software upgrade for that!
Like the developer commnity won't have it out before 90% of the carriers, and with less bloat. ^____^

I totally agree with you there.
I bought the Skyrocket for a few main reasons:
LTE
Benchmarks compared to others available at the time of purchase.
The promise of the ICS update
If I wasn't in need of a phone at the time of purchase, I would have most likely picked up the Note.
I am a patient person and can wait for the release. If I don't like what is provided I am sure there will be plenty of other ROMs to choose from at the time as ICS should be available for the other 'brother' devices shortly.
But seriously, with all of the griping that I am seeing regarding ICS it makes me wonder what is going to be said when Jelly Bean becomes available...

More importantly after the kies release of it, how long till the drop of the source code!! Samsung is usually awesome with dropping it quickly but are they going to wait for the OTA to begin rolling out before they do...I hope not

Ok seriously, most of our ROMs come from the Skyrocket, and I'm sure we will have source material for you guys to work with. I would immediately make you guys an updated ROM base but lack a Skyrocket to test with (also lacking an AT&T SIM since my prior AT&T device is currently laying in the middle of the Red River). I figured AT&T would have announced your ICS date by now because the leak is three+ months old now. However, you guys will have new stuff to play with soon.

Oh damn, I didn't see your post. CM9 & AOKP got ported over from source today and it's awesome. Feels good man. I've been missing AOKP so much and hadn't heard anything about it, until the thread popped up this morning. Then there's the custom AOSP kernel that has a max overclock of 1890mhz... lol. Development is ready starting to pick up, it's great.
It's hard to imagine this phone running any smoother with JB's project butter.

I used both versions of tasks aokp, but there are some key features of the samsung roms that I missed (wifi direct, menu search key, camera), so now I'm on the Apocalypse rom. Runs really well so far

Upgraded a couple of weeks ago to the GS3 and it is painful to use the screen on my captivate now. It used to seem huge compared to my iPhone.

there is one thing I miss about my cappy, it was unbrickable, even without the mod you had to try to kill it. I have heard quite a few people lose their imei on the gs3 and it has me a little bit scared. I'm rooted at the moment, but no roms for me until they get a good backup and restore of imei. The stock rom is plenty fast and with ics you can disable the att apps so it isn't that bad.
