How to edit the battery-full-design in sys folder - General Questions and Answers

I checked my phone battery from the sys folder and its showing only 500 charge full design and i think i am i having a battery indicator problem bcoz of this as my phone drops the charge from 100 to 1 % in only 1 to 2 hours of use and stays on 1% for many hours. So is there any way to change it with actual atrix battery capacity.
I am facing this problem from the first day with original atrix battery that came with the phone i also tried various calibration methods, roms and kernels but nothing worked.
/sys/devices/platform/cpap_battery/power_supply/battery
My phone uevent is showing this
Powersupply-capacity=5
Powersupply-voltage-now=3836000
Powersupply-temp=260
Powersupply-charge-full-design=500
Powersupply-charge-counter=1
My Phone Motorola Atrix
Battery 1880

battery problem solved?

Maybe this depends on the batterys but mine was having that problem of going dead at higher and higher % it started at 10 than 30 then 50 and up to 70 I think.
I've tested all the solutions in the wiki (yes the freezer too ) but with no improvements, then I did the opposite, instead of draining the battery fast I drained the battery slowly and when the Universal shuted off I pluged it to the electricity until it boots ok and the cpu returned to 0/1%, then take it from electric power again and wait until it goes dead again and did this over and over again until I reached the minimum battery of 9% i think. Great improvement since I was already looking for battery replacements... Then I charged it over night.
Conclusion I have the Universal alive for 3 consecutive days (and nights) now at 52% waiting to check when it dies again
By draining the battery slowly I mean no light in the screen, no running programs and universal in closed state, flight mode and just one thing to check if it was alive or not, play some music in WMP in repeat mode, when it stoped playing it was time to have a litte more eletric juice until I could boot it up and start the music playing again.
When I have the final results -> when the universal goes down I will post the solution in the wiki
Again this may depend on the batterys but since there are so many people buying new ones you maybe want to try this solution too.
Oh and by the way I solved an "other" problem while trying to solve this...
Besides the tests on the battery like freezing it over night, taking the power level pin etc, I've started to think it was a problem from the rom so I cleaned the Universal doing that "task 28" thing and the result was solving the problem that I was having with the battery status (now home screen plus plus) it was not getting the cpu using percentage when in the past it did. Now with the cleaning reg whatever It is showing again the cpu using %
I don't know if you use this but it has a cool functionality, posting the cpu using % at the top bar of your universal can tell you how much the universal is working all the time, enabling you to notice when it is working when it shouldn't, normally some stupid background program that didn't go off...
hi there. I have two same unis, and three batteries. two standard, one big capacity 3200mAh (personally I dont believe it have such capacity, it is some china crap). but all three had that issue (uni shut down when capacity still showing more as 30% or more %). tried to deplete the battery completely (when it wont boot, I put device to bootloader mode and wait untill died completelly). now it show again 0% on all three batteries. I dont want to say, that your method is bad . no, I am just a lucky one, where the "wiki" methods worked correctly. and I think it is also important sometime charge the battery completelly, not only for couple of minutes, but until you see green light. when you deplete the battery completelly to zero (it is never zero, electronics integrated on the batter doesnt allow that) charging to full take much more time as before.
powerdetect
one more thing, you can test, how much capacity your battery have. it is simple utility called power detect. you can find it in THIS thread or as attached file. just copy to device and run. the test will suspend itself after one hour, so set all settings as needed. it will automatically create file, where you can find all important information. before you use it first time, charge your battery to full.
Thank you for the reply, My battery still dies at 30% but no more at 70% and 50% and it lasts 3 days/nights in a row.
I tried the boot loader mode but it seemed it had a timeout, instead of dying from battery losse it died from some kind of time out :/ because I was still capable of juicing some more battery if i went again to boot loader...
I will check that app, thnks again
wat i did..
well my battery used to shut off at 95 above present...wat i did was drain the battery with a 12 volt motor, took me a complete day for it to discharge, then i put it in the freezer, was suppose to put it for one night but i actually forgot bout me putting the battery in the freezer n i remembered after 2 days. then i charged it which also took around 18 hours to charge now my batter shouts itself at 70% n i can listen to music for 1.5 hours. which is a lot from a battery which was shutting at 95%

Phone Idle & Call Standby = BATTERY DRAIN !

I did not even touch my phone after i let it charge till 100 % I took out the charger and place it beside my laptop while i play my games then every time Im
not doing anything the battery will decrease DRAMATICALLY ! please help it has been going on for 2 months already . I use Juice Defender and recently i just change my rom and it still goes on . HELP PLEASE
For what it's worth. Every ROM I've ever installed has terrible battery life until you do a battery calibration. If your rom has superuser, and pretty much any non stock does, charge it to 100%, 100% and then about 3 hours past that. Then download battery calibration from the Market and let it wipe batterystats or with it still plugged in reboot into recovery and wipe battery stats.
After that let it die down to 0. After it dies, start it up again. After that? Start it up one more time. Then charge to full again.
This should help. If it doesn't, you probably have an app that's abusing your phone. Grab currentwidget and track the battery drain in mA.
You should look for apps that abuse your system, usually those are apps that ask for a permission that prevents phone from sleeping. Look around your system and see if running app list has something unusual
I've used Prime for a couple of days and it has excellent battery life. I can actually do at least a 14h day on a single full charge, at least by how I use my phone.
The thing with it is, until you do a proper calibration you're not gonna get the expected longevity with any rom.
I suggest for you to follow the prior replies and then ask again afterwards
Check signal
Check also if the GSM signal is not too weak. Switch it to GSM only or WCDMA only and see if the battery life improves.

[Q] dead and new battery

i bought a new battery for SGA.the old battery is almost 1cm thick, still didnt explode or leak.when i charge from 0 to 100% it takes 2 min.when i unplug the charger, the battery drains from 100% to 0% in 1min.the new battery(i bought original)is a bit better but still drains fast and charge fast.without any use,the battery drop from 100% to 75% in 20min.at 20% battery stuck and can hold 1 hour with no problem but that is max.i tryed many roms and the battery act same.whatever i do its still same result.
im asking,if you know anything about how to fix this?is there anyone facing same problem?what can i do to make SGA battery works like normal?
do i need to say good bye to SGA xDDD

[Q] New Battery Calibration

I bought a new battery for my oneplus one from vifocal.com and I think its original battery. The battery seems to be very poor. I use my phone for 1,5 hours from which the screen is on for about 1 hour and the battery has drained down to 50%. Yesterday as my phone went to zero I turned it on in recovery mode to keep the screen on as long as possible to really kill the battery and the screen stayed on for at least 2 hours. How is that possible if the battery indicator shows already 0%. Anyways I believe the battery drops down to 0% even really there is a lot of juice in the battery. Is there anyway to calibrate the battery so it would show the correct percentage and is there anyway to tell how big is the battery really? whether I got a fake one or not. thanks

I've had an opposite issue few times - phone was shutting down while it was show that it still had battery (20% was the worst case). I fixed it by discrharging fully, then letting the phone charge all trough the night. this was the recommendation that I found on OPO forums from someone from their team.

Battery Charge Cycle readout (ROOT)

Hello,
did anyone noticed the file /ysy/class/power_supply/battery/battery_cycle ?
It shows the charge Cycles of the battery. Even after wipen/flashing new ROMs.
Mine shows 329.
I have got the phone shortly after it was lunched in germany.
My batterycapacity is about 75% from the new one. When I had the phone new I checked capacity and it reported 102% (from 3.000mAh) checke with AccuBattery charged from 0 to 100%
Anyone here where the battery was changed that could report if the chargeCycles were resetted with the new battery?
