Attention Developers: Looks like the T-989 has an OTG USB enabled kernel...
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-enable-otg-usb-host-support-on-t-mobile-galaxy-s-ii-t989/
So, have a few questions for the kernel experts:
1) I'm looking for a basic I727-SR kernel (i.e., not OC'd or UV'd, no special boot animation, no BLN, etc). So yes, basically a stock AT&T I727 kernel WITH:
a) OTG USB Host enablement (to be able to r/w, transfer files between phone and a USB flash drive);
b) Battery optimization
c) Stability
2) Anyone aware of an AT&T I727-SR kernel that is not OC'd but has the added functionality of OTG USB hosting?
3) If not, any Devs interested in creating a basically stock kernel but with OTG USB hosting?
Thanks.
Bump. Really... 3 days? Where's the love?
Just curious, aren't there any other Skyrocket users who would like this functionality? OTG-USB will allow you to r/w, transfer files from phone to a usb flash drive simply by plugging flash drive into phone (albeit, you'll need a $1.98 OTG USB adapter). No need to slave the phone to a computer to share/transfer files, pics, music, etc.
There is a new Kernal with OTG in the Dev section, "AT Stock—ish"

I have a stock Skyrocket 2.3.5. It reads FAT32 formatted flash just fine but not NTFS formatted usb drives. i thi k the issue is with filesystem driver support - not OTG per se.

Just flashed my nexus with ics..One problem though...When i try to connect it to ubuntu..its not getting detected...any idea??
Did you do the necessary edits in Ubuntu to get the USB device to be recognized?

I had no problem connecting with stock rom..After flashing ics, everything started. I am not being able to mount even mass storage.Everytime i want to copy some files, i have to go into cwm recovery.
I have no problems on latest kang, connects via mtp as intended. Mass storage with on board non removable flash devices like the galaxy nexus is not possible anymore as they have redone the drive structure.

Greetings, everyone. I do not own the device, but my girlfriend does. Lately, she tried rooting her Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus GT-P6200 and asked me for help, I downloaded the correct root.zip file via my phone and sent it to her via bluetooth. After that, I made sure that it was saved on her MicroSD card and not just on the internal memory. Then I booted up in recovery, chose apply from sdcard or something like that...but then it always displays something like "No sdcard found" or something similar. Are there any ways to fix this or any other way of rooting her tab?
P.S. Forgive me if this issue has been raised before, I simply do not have the time to read other posts, threads, etc. I'm too busy with this semester in school. And I'm used to using cmd.exe for complex commands for my phone in Fastboot mode. :fingers-crossed:
Try having her transfer the zip onto the tablets internal memory instead and re-try it. I'm assuming you're using the v5.x.x CWM that aorth and/or gary built. The latest CWM that aorth built (v6.x.x) seems to have an issue with reading the external memory, if I remember correctly.

maybe you could try installing a different recovery, try the clockworkmod recovery that can be found in android development section of tab plus
continue loving your girlfriend!

oke question for TS:
1. are your girlfriend tablet use HoneyComb or already in ICS?
2. are you using CWM recovery instead of original recovery from Samsung?
if,
1. using honeycomb and haven't install CWM, download root.zip, and put it in your external sdcard. go to recovery mode, choose install update from EXTERNAL storage, reboot when finished.
2. using honeycomb and already install CWM, use the same root.zip above and put in your external sdcard. go to recovery mode, choose install zip from sdcard, choose zip from internal sdcard, choose root.zip and choose yes - install root.zip, reboot after finished.
3. using ICS and haven't install CWM, read my post here
Thank you all for the responses. I'll try to do it again sometime this week. At the moment, she's still on honeycomb and we used stock recovery from samsung. If I were to update it to ICS, I'd just connect her tab to my pc and open up kies, is that right?
EDIT: Oh, and one more thing. Is it possible for that 6.0.x cwm recovery by aorth to be flashed on this still-honeycomb tab?

about update to ICS, if u are at Austria yes u can do it through kies but if not, just download d firmware it from sammobile and apply it with odin, as simple as that..
Btw i rooted my P6200 using the stock HC and it was flawless.. good luck again
To everyone out here, is there any other way to root the P6200 model? The stock recovery always fails to recognize the sd card and internal memory.

Are you 100% sure it is on the external SDcard? By what method did you verify this?
Not being mean or dismissive at all - When I was running Honeycomb on my tab plus, the only easy way I was able to get things to the external card was to use Kies, or possibly mount via straight USB.
I didn't see an easy way to get to the external card via bluetooth or an onboard file manager because IIRC Honeycomb doesn't list the external card in the directory tree , the /sdcard and /mnt/sdcard both point to the internal card.
I never did try a simple linuxy type mount command, partly because I am not sure what the target would have been named, but of course to do that one would need to be rooted, first.

update from kies only available on Austria. Do manually with odin to upgrade to ICS.
i guess it's possible to apply CWM 6.0.1.0 by aorth on honeycomb.

have you read post number 4 up there???
What I did:
- I accidentally wiped all data in tablet - ROM, etc. Only left is Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP) v2.2.0 recovery console
- I put Android.zip (installation files) into Micro SD Card
- I boot into recovery (TWRP)
- TWRP does not read/detect the SD Card
- There is no files in /sdcard except one; /sdcard/TWRP/.twrps
I also
- installed adb on PC
- did 'adb devices' - no device detected when connect between tablet and PC
How?
Hello, I happy to know that I'm not the only one to have this problem.
I know it's my mistake and I'll be more carefull about doing these stuff.
I have the same problem as you, I wiped all data and only left TWRP(v2.1.5).
I tried to connect the TF300T to the laptop but I can't access to the root of the tablet (no device appeared in the window Computer).
I have all the drivers installed, also the adb, but in the "cmd" (win+R), there's no devices connected, so I can't put the original Rom to reinstall it.
So, as the TF300T has a micro sd card reader I put the zip Rom into a micro sd, but once in the recovery (TWRP) I can't access to the external sd, it doesn't appear.
Does anybody have a suggestion or have a similar problem?
First I would flash the latest twrp, (2.4.1.0) then d still a no go format sd card via fat32 (I personally like EXFAT) but only 2.4.1.0 can read that format.

After v2.4.1.0 I began to see my card where before I could not, so I guess they improved this

Same thing happening to me, I accidentally wiped system and my pad will not read the sdcard to flash a rom. Im on TWRP 2.4.1.0. Anyone have any suggestions please?
Edit: Tried a different SD Card (non SDHC) and its reading it. Lesson learned haha.
how should i update twrp , my pc do not recognize my phone anymore
How about we just tell it like it is. The people at TWRP don't care, as long as it wasn't THEIR device that this affects. Considering the last post on this was from March, I can say it seems they don't GAF. This just shows, though less visually appealing, sometime CWM surpasses TWRP without even trying.

My problem started when I upgraded my version of TWRP from 3.0.2 to version 3.1.1.0 that failed to recognize the sd card to install root and / or to store backup in sd, after much research I found no practical solution, and decided to do downgrade to version 3.0.3 of TWRP and my problem has been fixed
i have still the same issue cause it is unable to connect
because of drivers of my pc
there is a small not working sign on driver
i have updated that but not worked

Hi there !
I lost my USB cable for my Asus Transformer TF101 for months now, I only have a backup charging cable which does not allow me to connect it to my Laptop,
I'm wondering if there is any chance to install kitkat 4.4.2 without my computer ( like copying the file directly on my SD card) , and if there is a tutorial somewhere
Thanks in advance for your help =)
Cheers
If you already have TWRP recovery installed, just download it using your TF and copy it to your MicroSD Card / SDCard
Boot into recovery do all the required wipes and Flash it

Nop, and i'm pretty sure that i'll need the cable to root my device, don't I ?
I think some early builds of stock ICS and Honeycomb were able to be rooted from the tablet, transformerforums.com has some guides
Otherwise yep, grab a cable from ebay
You can root your tablet using Baidu Root. I can't post outside links so google "Baidu Root 2.3.7 English". The process is pretty straightforward. After rooting, download GooManager from play store and choose "install OpenRecovery script". This will install TWRP 2.3.2.3. You can then download the newest TWRP from sidneyk's thread, but there seems to be an issue with the 2.7.0.3 version, so go for 2.7.0.1. Did all of this a couple of days ago, never had to connect to a computer.
