Do we have ICS general issue for any ROMs? - HTC Sensation

Hi there~
I've flashed several ICS ROM till now and faced diverse problems, such as battery life short, hang on splash screen and camera crash etc.. I just wonder do any others suffer the same problem on every ROMs? Maybe we can do some prevention before official ROM released.

I think some of it could be user error. Battery life for myself is amazing. I've had my phone running for 12 hours and currently at 40%. Great compared to GB. Hang on splash screen is likely due to flashing errors, etc. Camera crash... probably ICS or user error and I say user error because I myself haven't had any, stuck with stock too
Correct me if I'm wrong.. but the official rom is being rolled out already is it not? Just taking time to reach everyone

Using ARHD 6.5.0.
Again the battery life is amazing! Went 12 hours yesterday down to 61% with light/moderate use.
Also my current stats are showing 91% remaining 13h 7m 58s on battery (switch aeroplane mode on over night).
No other freezes or crashes (not experienced one FC).
Phil

Biggest issue for me is that my screen is not as responsive as with GB roms. It's driving me crazy sometimes when I need to tap some icon few times. Tried several ics roms and they all have that issue. Never happens on GB rooms.

[Q] Best ROM for battery life?

I get horrible battery life with nearly every ROM Ive used on my Sensation, sometimes drains 10 percent an hour with the screen OFF. I have all data off, no wifi on, no apps running, juicedefender ultimate, and underclock when screen is off, and I read about people who can get a full day while using the total potential of the device. I had the same problem on my old device, so I returned it to T-Mobile and still have problems on the device I got in return. I dont expect to get two days on battery, I just find it crazy that I can barely use my device without the battery draining rapidly. I've considered undervolting but every rom ive downloaded didnt support it, so I was curious if you guys know of any efficient ROMs that save a ton of power and can be undervolted. I'm not very experienced with this kind of stuff and every ROM ive used has been poor on battery life, so help would be appreciated.
I am using InsertCoin ROM and it is running fine.
I used to have a 3% battery drop per every hour the phone was sleeping on stock rom and ARHD ics. Then I tried Virtuous Inquisition and it fixed the issue. Be sure to install the rom with its appropriate radio.

ICS isn't fully stable yet, but seriously.. give that a try. My battery has doubled its lifespan. I have NO idea what htc/google did, but I get about 12 hours moderate usage and still around 50%. Getting 12 hours back then was what I was hoping I could hit! Now it lasts beyond my expectations
I've also read that you tried undervolting and everything. I just stayed stock and it's great, no effort! no custom kernel, OC/UC , it's amazing. If you read through the threads, I'm not the only one experiencing awesome battery
If you must know, I'm using InsertCoin but I think ARHD and all the other ICS roms will pretty much solve your problem

Ok thanks guys ill try various ICS roms over the next week and see if there's a difference.

Which ICS rom is providing the longest battery life with Anker 1900mah?

I have the Anker 1900 mah battery in my Sensation from T-Mobile and I'm currently using Android Revolution HD 6.2.1. I would like to know what rom is giving the best battery life for you guys with the same battery under your heaviest usage.
Sometimes I'm getting 10-12 hours under my normal everyday usage. I use my phone alot though so I would consider it heavy usage.
Please let me know your results!

I am using the same rom (1.5 Kernel) with you under T-Mobile.
Make sure that you are on top of your screen brightness.
Display is the most critical part in the device regarding to battery.
Even it comes before what rom you are using.
Hope it helps
Well if you are looking for something that has great battery life and is a ice cream sandwich rom, then I suggest you try the Virtuous Inquisition 3.0.0 rom. The moment you flash this rom, you will not be disappointed with any fc's or any weird bugs that could occur in other roms. Now keep in mind, this rom has been stripped from sense and only the camera and other small applications are remaining. And last but not least, I consider the battery really amazing. Why? Because it gets me through the day on medium usage. My medium usage is: 1 hour reading book, 5-10 calls, 20 texts, 35 minutes internet and some 25 minutes of music. Remember nobody can tell you the actual battery life that you will get because we all use our phones in different ways.
Have a good day.
Are there any guides on maximising the sensation battery life? I have an Anker, a generic 1700mAh and the stock Sensation battery (Not XE) but none of them seem to last more than 8 hours at the moment.
How can I best manage my display usage? I have it on automatic at the moment, but I'm sure I must be doing something wrong. I'm using Android Revolution HD 6.2.1.

Adjust it manually, i.e. make it as dark as you can while still being able to see it well enough.
Personally, I just leave Auto-Brightness on and my battery lasts enough to get me through a day.
Quite a comprehensive guide here: http://smartphonegears.com/2011/04/how-to-improve-htc-sensation-battery-life/
I'm running the unoffical CM9 build running SebastianFM's kernel. I got 9 hours yesterday til it dropped to 30%. A little music, some gaming, texting, and about 5 calls around couple minutes each call.
I'm running CM9 rom with stock kernel, battery life isn't great. I tryied virtious but got fc + boot loop

What do you mean you got boot loop? Did you flash the correct firmware? The correct one is 3.24. Also did you remember to superwipe before you flash the rom in order to make sure that you have wiped everything?
Try those options and see the magic within the virtuous inquisition rom :]

Yes I did, on both occasions the ROM worked for about 30 mionutes, then FC'd, rebooted, got to the V splash screen, then rebooted again and got stuck on white htc screen. This was after flashing ShnizlonSettings_VI.zip, whether that had something to do with it I don't know.
Using Virtuous Quattro a3, I get through the day with heavy use, music, emails, browsing, irc, calls, few SMS and tinkering/tweaking.
Today it has been idling apart from a few SMS, and was on 81% at 9pm, off charge at 7am.
varies I guess
I have the stock T-Mobile battery and just checked its got about 7.5 hrs and 60% on the batt.
probably about 2-3 hrs of music and 10-15 mins of calls, plus maybe 20 mins of games so far...
I've got the Elegancia ICS on it, plus a buncha apps
Here you go buddy did a screenshot for you. Using Darkforest Rom 5.2.0 with true AOSP experience on sense by shnizlon. I'm playing zenonia 4 quite addicted at it, brightness is at 50, wifi never turned off. Hope this helps.
Im really sorry forgot it was anker battery question. Im using the stock battery of sensation xe. sorry bud.
Well guys I switched to Virtuous Inquisition 3.5.0 and it's provided better battery life for sure! I think just the bloat of Sense sometimes brings down battery life depending on the rom. Virtuous is also a little bit snappier and overall more responsive.
Just the other day I sent over 500 text messages and received just as many before I hit 60%. I never seen anything like that before. I had Wifi on and my screen at full brightness.

heavy battery drain and mobile heating up since last evening

Hi,
I was running MIUIXperience V5 and everything was fine till got a random reboot last evening and after that, battery started draining very fast doing nothing 20-25% in an hour. Mobile is heating up a lot now back side near camera and charging also became very slow (30-40% in 4 hours). Tried full wipe and reinstalling the ROM but still the same issue, wiped battery stats as well.
I was getting 25-35 hrs before this so doesn't look like a fault in battery. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.
Seems a hardware issue to me. Maybe try to swamp battery's and see if the current one you're using is busted.

Thanks for your help but I still doubt the battery as when charging in powered off, it charge well & quickly as before
Can you try another ROM? If it would work ok with another ROM that would put the hardware suspicion aside. If it still keeps the same with a different ROM, then it's most definitively a hardware issue.

I have tried another ROM and same ROM with clean install, they seem good as before the issue but as soon as I enable root permissions, battery started to drain fast again (35% in an hour)
got a similar issue with mine, usually my battery stills 20hrs, and that's ok for my usage, I'm running brainmaster cm9, but same with CDA 2.0.0, randomly the phone, in some case after a reboot or disconnecting power cable, start to drain battery and become hot, in battery usage stats AndroidOS is the main issue and android.process.acore the resource that never sleep,
I think this can came from a bad deep idle management on some rom-kernels combo or ics 4.0.4 issue, but I nobody to say this...

I tried different MIUI Roms but issue remained same. Then I installed Androxide after full wipe and now seems to be working fine (72% after 7hrs). Still can't figure out what is the issue that different variants of MIUI Roms after clean install and battery starts to discharge heavily.
Tried going back to MIUI but probelm came again and after restoring to Androxide, again working fine

I suggest to install an app like Quick System Info anche see id there is a process running high on CPU usage: there you can see its log and try to understand what's happening...
BTW, I started to have some massive drain with the last CM9 nightlies: it was the Phone app that sucked all the juice in a few hours.
I wiped & reflashed dozen of times, checking if the drain was caused by some app, until I used Quick System Info and saw from the logs that the problem was the new 2g/3g toggle widget: I had set it to "3g preferred" but this caused a loop. Setting it to "2g only"/"3g only" fixed the issue.
First, MIUI is a Chinese ROM.
Second, Chinese things are always known for bad quality.
So MIUI is bad
Really, dude? Maybe you should take the tin foil hat off.

[Q] Battery efficient 21e kernel?

Here is the thing, i'm enjoying the whole end of ghost calls thing BUT since I flashed the 21e ROM, my battery drainage is 'over the roof', i lose almost 20 to 30% in 2 hours of standby, and its been happening with both promethius and bluekernel. I'm on Promethius 1.4+ ROM.
I've deleted system apps, like I've done since ThiaiZ ROMS, which I'm missing now but no significant increase in battery life.
Any thoghts? I'm guessing its not just me, I've seen similar complaints in other topics but no resolution.
Same here, I think that is wi-fi related, since I've changed the wifi sleep policy to "When the screen is off" my battery life is ok....
I think there are a bunch of things that are killing the battery:
- screen brightness / auto brightness (not working properly, no change when less than 50% brightness?? I have mine set to auto but it don't feel right...)
- wifi (definitely a bunch of issues since day 1 of this phone, I leave mine off when screen off too even though its annoying waiting for connection)
- data (i've noticed using apps like 2x battery, or juice defender can help a lot which disables data when screen is off)
- poorly programmed LG integrated software... I freeze as many LG apps as possible in system using Titanium Backup, helps a bit too.
- incorrectly calibrated battery, re-calibrate with CWM. Do a full charge, then reset battery stats in CWM and let the phone fully drain till shut down and then re-charge non-stop to 100% again. Then its properly calibrated.
Hope any of that helps, it seems to have helped me a bit. I can get between 18-30 hours of mixed use, but more to the light/standby side.

Actually the 21E stock ROM/kernel has better battery life than any previous GB or Froyo stock ROM, like many people have already reported here. I'm loosing only 1-2% overnight on standby, so if you lose 20 to 30% in just 2 hours of standby, then the problem is not the 21E but something else.
The best way to check is the problem is related to the stock or custom 21E ROM/kernel, is to go back to the stock 21E. If this is too time consuming, you could follow the recommendations of crazycage, or check/disable any apps that cause battery drain (like, turn off background sync or apps that connect periodically to the net, like mail, news feeds etc)
Thanks guys, but the drainage happens even after these steps, with this phone I have became used to doing all these steps after flashing a new rom, i delete or freeze most of the system apps, i only activate wifi when i use it and background data is off almost all the time.
The only thing I'm used to that is not good for battery is keeping the brightness at maximum, but on older roms battery life was ok, I could get It through the day with no major issues.
Do anybody have the stock 21e kernel in a flashable package? 'Cause in the past two weeks I have flashed and reflashed it over and over to get it to work and flashing it again would really be a pain in the a.

You mean that you've re-flashed a clean stock 21E ROM/kernel and still have battery drainage without deleting/freezing apps or installing new ones? That's strange because most people actually report better battery life with the 21E than any previous ROMs.
If you think that it's not a faulty battery like wayno140 suggested, you could go back to an older GB ROM to have a test.
No, only did first boot on stock 21e, and flashed Promethius, deleted system apps and did all the battery-friendly steps but still no improvement

EHNDROIX V problem for the I9003

I just flashed the ROM yesterday and everything's working fine except that I noticed that even if the screen's turned off, when I get a new notification (and even when I don't sometimes) the buttons' LED flashes and it stays like that unless I turn the screen on. Anyone else having this problem? I also noticed that the battery is draining pretty fast, can someone tell me their performance settings for lower battery consumption? Other than that, ROM's pretty stable, has a slight lag but oh well.
P.S I'm sorry if this has been asked somewhere else, I looked and couldn't find anything. If it has been, just tell me and I'll delete this.

I am on the 2nd last release as of now and havnt faced much battery drain issue..with 2G or wifi i get around 10-12 hrs of backup which I think is decent enough. For the LED issue also I dint face anything like dat..only for notification it'll glow. I think u shud do a clean flash and then see the difference. :fingers-crossed:
Hi, I use that one, too.
I suspect as well, that what you describe is not a bug, but a feature - for me, the LEDs glow when there's a notification. In terms of battery consupmtion, it's much better than stock GB ROM: I had more than 24h battery lifetime for the first time on this phone.
I recommend using the 14.3.29 version, though. some users have reported battery drain with 14.3.30

Really? I had a terrible experience with it. I loved the way it looked but battery drained extremely fast and after a few days I started getting the "android.process.acore has stopped" and then all of my apps force closed one by one. Now back to stock GB, battery lasts much longer although I miss the KitKat feel. Haha. I'm looking for a stable ROM for daily usage now, until then I'll stick with stock ROM.
