Hello,
Has anyone successfully removed the colorful (but very annoying to me) Verizon LTE boot animation for the Galaxy 7.7?
Thank you!
I hope responding to my own message isn't a big no-no when there is something of substance (I think) to post:
After rooting and installing superuser and accessing the SCH-i810 using the "Root Browser" posted here at XDA (thank you), I determined that I could cut the two files:
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
paste them both in
/system/media/video
And now the SCH-i810 boots with no animation.
The momentary Samsung 7.7 splash remains but, otherwise nothing until the home screen appears in about 18 seconds.
Maybe this info helps someone. The Verizon boot animation was just too much color flashing and movement. The animation might be great for the store but for everyday use -- ugh.
Thanks for this. Too bad there's no way to get rid of the sound too.
Open a root explorer, go to /system/media/audio/ui.
Rename the "PowerOn.ogg" to whatever you want... eg PowerOn.ogg.bak
then its done.. no more start up sound

Works with Sky Raider ROM (may work with others, but I'm a newbie and I don't know ****)
Features: spinning Deus Ex logo (from the video game), without the text "Deus Ex" below it.
So, even if you hate my stupid bootloader animation (and you have every right to), just know that I'm posting it as a.. uh gift to the community. I really appreciate the work that everyone else has done while I just sit on my fat ass and download everything.
Here are the steps I took to install it:
Copied both files to my android-sdk-windows/tools directory (maybe you're smarter than me and abbreviated it to something like "butts").
Booted phone into recovery mode (clockwork)
Then to "partitions" and mounted System and Data
Connected phone to PC, ran ADB
verified phone was connected (adb devices)
Copied files to phone:
adb push VZW_bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource/
adb push VZW_Droid.mp3 /system/customize/resource/
Then I rebooted the phone (adb reboot), disconnected it. And watched magic happen. If you think magic is something annoying. Which I do, apparently.
Disclaimer: It's unintentionally loud and if you're afraid of it you can just hold off on pushing the audio until I go to sleep/wake up/update it.
The animation itself may slow down, as its either just too fast or that your phone is loading. So, I apologize for that. I'm just grateful I was able to get the darned thing to loop correctly on the first try. Also forgive me its 5:30am and I haven't slept yet.
The files are attached below. Please note that you MUST extract the mp3 file out of the vzw_droid.zip, but keep the VZW_bootanimation.zip file intact.
not much into games these days but Deus Ex was a game worth playing. Even thought about getting the new game.

Is there a way of completely deleting the boot animation and see what's happening underneath it?
You can completly delete it using a root explorer under system/media/bootanimation.zip
But it would not be a good idea because you will end up with a black screen untill it boots
If you want something that reseambles whats going on underneath the hood grab the prime boot animation and use that
Nothing is happening, it's not like an animated BIOS splash screen or the Windows thing, it's just blank. If you are particularly keen, there's an app on the market called Live Logcat that replaces the bootanimation.zip with some magical thing that displays logcat output during the boot sequence. There's another one called Live Dmesg or something that shows the Dmesg output in a similar way. If you pay for them, you can even see both at the same time.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
Thanks - I really like the live logcat/live dmesg apps!
Hello, I am attempting to do something that I didn't think would be that hard and it has ran me into so many problems.
I have the Samsung Galaxy s4 Active. So I now have gained root acess, but I found out I cannot change the boot animation that easily for samsung phones because they use a different something. So I go through the trouble of downloading a ton of crap and making a animation compatible with my phone, set it up, and email it to my device copy paste to system/media and ovverrite existing. Rebooted, Said samsung then custom under it with a unlocked lock. Rebooting ever since does nothing so I gave up with that and decided to look into a mod allowing using basic bootanimation.zip like all other phones, But for Samsung active can't use Clockwork mod or whatever so I gotta get something else called Flash Gordon. When I go to download it on my phone, I get an error. First it says "Connecting to Dl.xda.developers and then it'll say Sorry, this player does not support this type of audio file and I'm at a loss because now my phone will not lock or time out the screen. When I hit the lock button it won't lock. It works fine becuase if I hold it it pulls up turn off and crap. I just made sure in settings that screen timeout is set at 15 sec and it won't timeout already tried reboot for fixing that and it didn't help. I feel like giving up right now..
Hello
I have tried asking this question in other places but no luck
Basically i got a android (Samsung s3) and now i am customizing it for myself.
And now i am stuck. I decided to change startup and shutdown animations and sounds just because. For startup i successfully changed it to the droid peeing on the apple logo (because it is funny) but for the shutdown i want just a sound file (a turret from portal saying shutting down). I followed the thread "HOW TO: Change bootup/shutdown animations and sounds" but i cannot get it to work. I have tried various formats and many ways of naming the file i have found on google but no success. Only thing that i noticed is that i did not have a shutdown file before i started messing with it. Afterwards i tried importing a shutdown animation from "forum.xda-developers . com/lg-g3/themes-apps/bootanimation-android-5-0-l-boot-t2814467" and that does not even show the animation.
Thanks
I came from the note 5 and there were several ROMS and an aroma zip that totally modded the way androids looked just starting up. No Samsung logo. no t mobile. no triangle. I wish i even knew how to start out or who to pass the information along to. To have some overall pleasant experience. There was the boot splash, boot animation, and shutdown animation.

that will all come in due time. The V20 is still very young in terms of how long root as been around. once the kernel gets sorted to get rid of the static people will start caring more about the boot animations. As far as the start up triangle and warning, not sure if that will ever get fixed but I really hope someone figures out how to disable it.
I'm guessing most of these boot issues will slowly be sorted over time.
If you're rooted you can get rid of tmobile video and annoying jingle. Here is stock android boot video and rename poweron.ogg in /system/media/audio/ui

There's an app called BootAnimations you can use. I use the Joker one from there and it looks good.
