here is a quick bootscreen i made.
i could have done a better job, but ill fix it soon.
forgot to post audio file.
Unzip SPC_animation_final.zip..
Leave bootanimation.zip as is...
---- install -----
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource
adb push SPC_animation_final.mp3 /system/customize/resource
----/install------
-----test----- boot sequence
adb shell bootanimation
I like it...will be testing out soon.
What changes will be made?
EDIT: Also, that youtube clip only shows 22 seconds, I thought it was supposed to be around 28 seconds for boot up...or am i mistaken?
it is.. the last couple frames in the actual bootanimation are looped until the phone starts.. the animation on youtube was in its entirety only without looping.
Okay, I finally got to it. Sorry, I was trying out the new roms from flip and hero last night.
Only one thing, is the audio low or is that just my phone? I tried turning all the volume options all the way up but it still sounds low.
I'm almost 70% sure it is my phone because I have noticed with the one droidx bootanimation I have that sometimes the "droid" will be real low and other times it will be normal.
CYBERxNUKE,
can u make this boot screen into a flammable zip?
Great work by the way....

Only on the market now.
Worked for me on my EVO with CM6. For me it basically just skipped the splash screen and booted straight from the boot animation. It was definitely quicker.
Now what are the +\- of using this versus just doing a normal reboot? Pretty much what does a normal reboot provide us that this cant?

On the galaxy S it is 2 times as fast as a normal reboot (clocked: 19s. hot reboot, 43s. normal reboot) Don't know about the EVO CM6.
+ is that one can kill all tasks at once and start with a clean system (snapier)
+ if one has to reboot because of a change: faster
+ beautiful reboot animation
- the system isn't totally reinitialised from the start (properties from build.prop aren't reset), but then again why does it have to?
- don't know yet.
I see it as a fast task killer, system memory cleaner and a handy, fast reboot option if changing something requires that.
Works very well on my SGS too. I get to regain as much memory as a cold boot.
Just 2 things:
1. Can the app implement a confirmation text box in case of accidental tap?
2. I am not seeing the beautiful reboot animation. Did you mean the circular thing that comes before it shuts off?
Minor side effect: If wifi was on before the reboot, wifi remains off although wifi is still showing as on from notification bar. Have to off then on wifi again to reconnect.
I forsee myself using this app very often from now on. Good job!

Actually a good idea. And users can set that on or off if they want. Good tip!

Yep!!! Don't you like it
But expect more in the future. I'm planning a whole multimedia show when the user reboots his device. Then it will be a real hot reboot app!

Next to useless
Yeah sure it reboots the graphics shell but it doesnt kill any other apps to be honest, when I come back from a cold reboot I am usually left with about 205 megs of mem but with this 134 averegae after 5 retries. uninstalling from my Samsung Galaxy S
I've put that to a test. I started an application like msn talk which I know would stay running in the background. Upon using this hot reboot, the application restarted as well.
On the side note, my galaxy s never had any free memory more that 160 megabytes on cool boot. This hot reboot gives about 140 megabytes, which I found reasonable to use.

Brilliant idea. Of course coming from Nederlands!!!
Do you have the same program for the WM6.5, which comes originally with the HJD2??? Is it fully safe ??? I have horror to the confused "usual" hard resets...
Please post the command this app uses to achieve this.
I've seen my phone do this sometimes, (unexpectedly reboots in <20 seconds)
Interestingly if you're on a phone call at the time, the call stays active all the way through the boot screen until the lock screen appears again. (the phone app gets restarted I guess)
thanks
does NOT work on nexus one with eViL's NXSense v.1.20. asks for root, once it gets it, the phone freezes. need to remove battery to restart phone.
I just tried this on my rooted Samsung Moment. All that happens is a popup says "rebooting" for a second, then disappears. Nothing else appears to happen...
It works on my Eris using 2.2 ROMs.
Some background info (hope this answers all the questions above): the app kills the system server and reboots android without rebooting the linux kernel. It uses busybox to execute the command because not all devices come with the same set of linux/unix commands. So yeah, you need to have busybox installed otherwise you see only the beautiful animation. Furthermore, there are buggy busyboxes around so you may wish to install the newest from the market.
Just installed on my EVO. Worked perfectly.
Thanks.

Did you have the former version of my (lite) LCD DC on your phone. It contained a bug that sometimes caused a unsolicited reboot at startup The newest updates of both versions have this bug (definitely) fixed.
Thank you, thank you!
This is the kind of App that makes my life simpler. Thanks so much for such a simple app that is Incredible useful!

Updating busybox worked for me. Thanks!
Works on N1..thanx, a very usefull app

No I have never tried those apps. Restarting the phone fixed the problem. The restarts happened while on a call. (5 times)
This app works great btw.
Hello,
Today is my 14th day with the device and this device seems to be hot rebooting itself. Its not a complete reboot but a hot reboot that take 1/3rd the time to start up. Attached is the Alogcat. Anyone have any ideas? Should I swap the device out?
There is no reason for a reboot. I am not running any applications at time of reboot. And it happens randomly.
I didn't see anything in the logcat showing what the problem was. It looked like alogcat didn't pull everything, or maybe something got lost when it hot booted. Could you try to get a logcat via adb if it happens again?
Code:
adb logcat > logcat.txt
Run the above and wait a little bit (10-15 sec) and then press ctrl+c to stop as it will just keep outputting the log to the file.
now i notice that only 3 apps are showing in my downloads in the market and i have around 20 downloaded applications. what can cause this?
do you use any app2sd+ technique (script, application, ...) ?
this happened to me in one ROM it was app2sd+, specially when i install/uninstall any app
or if i mount the sdcard as drive.
i do not all apps are installed on the phone internal memory.
after installing a new app all my apps showed back up in the market.

Recently I've been noticing that the stock launcher always seems to restart when coming out of another app. For instance, I might go into Gmail for a few seconds, and when I press the home button, I get the white HTC screen then a loading screen for the launcher. So I have to wait like 15 seconds before actually seeing my home screen when I was just there seconds before!
Is anyone else having this issue?
I tried switching to Launcher Pro, but I got similar issues there, where all the icons would have to reload individually on the screen when pressing the home button. And it was a big laggy (more so than the stock launcher).
I had that same problem but that was because I accidently moved the sense launcher to my sd, after moving it back it stopped also look to see if any of the sense programs like people, browser etc we moved cause they can also cause Sense to restart if not stored on phone.

Nope, they're all on my phone. Just double checked.
Having same problem but it's intermittent. I also asked a couple of other people and they are having the same problem.
It's really annoying. I don't always have quick access to apps because of this. And running another launcher doesn't help. Hopefully this is fixed in the OTA update, whenever that'll be.

I have found that turning off the Fast Boot feature and restarting has pretty much eliminated this problem.
Thanks rorycs! That seems to have done the trick.
Any ideas why fast boot was causing the issue in the first place?

I have no idea... I can only guess that Fast Boot caches some data and that when the data is changed by a new app install/delete or some other saved data it has to rebuild the cached data each time before reloading .... Just a guess....

I've tried and, yes, it helps a little but it still happens!
So, I wonder when HTC's going to fix it? (I don't feel like doing a hard reset!)
I tried reformatting my memory card and also I no longer use the htc task manager to "kill all" seems to be working for me so far.

Hi since this evening I have the same problem. The first few weeks I did not have any problem with my sensation. This afternoon I applied a display protector and now he is starting up again and again.
Coincidence probably.
Where can I find the fast reboot mode> I can't find it on my (dutch, vodafone branded) phone.
Thanks
Usually the sense UI closes itself when the phone runs out of RAM, that's why it happens when you exit an app. Seems like also the fast boot option uses a bit more RAM so it makes the sense restart more often. Hope I helped.
Yeah mine has started restarting recently also.
I stopped fastboot but still does it. This is extremely annoying as it usually happens when I want to make a call or send a message and have to wait while it restarts.

I took off my screen protector hoping that that was the cause of all problems but it wasn't. Too bad, also formatted my sd card again. Hoping that that suggestion I found here on XDA works... so far so good...
Edit; so far still good it only rebooted once while it was in my pocket... working trick?

Pffft; I thought it was solved but today all misery started again, reboot after reboot, when i use my video cam it stops working and I have to wait till its working again. That costs me today a lot of footage from my kids at the carnival.
I hate it when things don't work.
So far i tried:
Taking of screen protector
disable fast boot
wipe and format my SD card.
Someone any suggestions? Will a factory reset work?
Thanks

Too bad! Brought my sensation to the shop and they did an system update with new software, phone was working for one day and now the **** started all over again, it just stops working randomly.
When i take a picture it stops, when its in my pocket it stops... I hate this!
I will bring it back to the shop again now for a hardware check, probably that will cost me two weeks.... I just have my phone one month......
I came to this thread lookling for a permanent fix to the loading screen but unfortunately i did not find that. I can offer a temporary fix, which certainly is not what we want but something is better than nothing.
Go to manage apps, all then to htc sense and delete data. That will correct the problem for a while. Unfortunately u will look te wallpaper and apps on the screen and u will have to put them back.
Guys, come on you have to search a little better for the answer.... but here you go anyway:
There are 2 options I have found that will work. I have been using the first option for months now with no issue or problem. Sense keeps restarting when it gets low on memory so the system swaps it out. You can choose your fix from the 2 options below. The first one apparently changes the way the system handles the Sense launcher and keeps it loaded much better - it is the option I use (I have found that when you exceed about 420MB used for your apps then the next option will work better). The second option simply stops the system from swapping the Sense launcher out of memory completely. Both of these require you to be rooted and to modify "build.prop" which is found in the /system folder.
If you are not comfortable with this edit make a Nandroid Backup first!!! (If you screw it up your phone may not boot)
1. Make a backup copy of "build.prop" (I simply copied it and renamed the original to "build.prop.old" and left it in the /system folder)
2. Edit "build.prop" with a text editor (you can use Astro or ES File Manager)
3. Scroll all the way to the END and add one of the following lines as the LAST LINE in "build.prop"
Choose ONE of the following lines and add it exactly as typed here:
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=0
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
4. Save your edited "build.prop" and reboot.
That's it. Enjoy!
*NOTE: I am not responsible for any damage you may do to your phone by attempting this mod or for any errors that may occur as the result of editing system files.
PLEASE hit THANKS if I helped you!
Mine only happen when im using widget sense friend stream. Not sure why it happen only during scroll the widget friend stream others app did not trigger the restart htc launcher..

try ARHD with No sense. Won't have such annoying problem happen again.
although the widget in Sense is nice, but with GO launcher and its widget in custom skin, feel satisfactory. at least it save ram and stop restarting which really annoy me.
Hello,
Has anyone successfully removed the colorful (but very annoying to me) Verizon LTE boot animation for the Galaxy 7.7?
Thank you!
I hope responding to my own message isn't a big no-no when there is something of substance (I think) to post:
After rooting and installing superuser and accessing the SCH-i810 using the "Root Browser" posted here at XDA (thank you), I determined that I could cut the two files:
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
paste them both in
/system/media/video
And now the SCH-i810 boots with no animation.
The momentary Samsung 7.7 splash remains but, otherwise nothing until the home screen appears in about 18 seconds.
Maybe this info helps someone. The Verizon boot animation was just too much color flashing and movement. The animation might be great for the store but for everyday use -- ugh.
Thanks for this. Too bad there's no way to get rid of the sound too.
Open a root explorer, go to /system/media/audio/ui.
Rename the "PowerOn.ogg" to whatever you want... eg PowerOn.ogg.bak
then its done.. no more start up sound
