I bought a HTC Amaze from some guy and it works great except for my data connection being slow. It is rooted with what I believe to be an energy Rom for the Amaze. I think the rom is making the phones data slow but I could be wrong. the phone doesnt do any other weird things that im aware of. I need a step by step tutorial on how to unroot the phone so that I may be able to see if that is the issue. Can someone please help me?
Just flash a stock ROM. You can find one in the Amaze section of the forum. If you don't know how to flash there are also step by step instructions.

thank you for the response but I clicked on your link and tried to find information on just where and how to get and flash the stock rom but unfortunately Everything I read looks like another language.. Is there any way to guide me through the locating of the stock rom and installing? I would forever appreciate it. Plus do you know of phones having data issues after flashing certain roms?

Can someone please help me flash a rom (viperrom trinity). A step by step guide on how to do it for someone who has no idea what he's doing. I rooted my phone with OneClickRoot, and that's all I know. Also, I was wondering, if I flashed this rom would I still be able to use different lauchers like SPB Shell 3D Mobile, or ZeanLauncher?
Yes you'll be able to use other launchers, and it would be helpful to know what phone you have, as the methods differ from phone to phone.
I'd also suggest doing a little research on your own. The information is already out there. I learned by reading, not by posting new threads, so I know it's possible.

which phone do you have?
I have an Epic 4g, guess that would be good info to give haha

hey everyone,
i just updates my desire s with a new rom (not mentioning the name) and my phone is acting kinda crazy... as in the calls are not getting connected properly and half the time people complain they arent able to contact me either... the problem is im not much familiar about this stuff... bt, have a feeling it might be the problem with the radio. i tried restoring to older backups. no difference and realised that the radio doesnt get backed up.
i need help... does anyone know what to do about this...???
thank you in advance...

Relax.
And stop with the sad smileys...
The radio is not affected by a ROM flash, it is on a separate partition and you don't have to fiddle around with it if the problem has presented itself only after flashing a new ROM and was working alright previously.
Also, there is no disgrace in mentioning the ROM name, so please do tell us the following details:
Are you Revolutionary S-off or did you unlock using HTC Dev site?
What ROM are you currently using? Is this the first ROM you have flashed, coming from the stock one, or have you tried out other custom ROMs before this?
Let us know the answers to the above questions and we'll try our best to help.
Yeah, please tell us the name of the ROM, we'll be able to give you better help. Some AOSP ROMs (Oxygen, BlackICE) have calling issues. Also, as enimaamit said, a ROM does not change the Radio, it needs to be flashed separately (something i don't recommend you do). The problem is probably in the ROM

Yup. And thanks for that additional bit of info about Oxygen and BlackIce.
And another possibility is that this could be his first custom ROM (based on an official Sense ROM), and he might be coming from a stock ROM which he just unlocked using HTC Dev, so the kernel could still be stock... (if he didn't flash boot.img separately), and this might be allowing him to boot, but causing other issues like the one he just described.... I have an uncanny feeling that might be it!
I don't know, just letting loose the Sherlock inside
well, this wasnt my first custom rom... i have flashed from stock rom->cm nightly builds->oxygen->icecream sandwich 4.0 alpha builds to the current wp 7.0.4 rom by mmmcfc... i used to use his previous version-wp7.0.2 which was awesome and gave me no problems but, ever since i updated it, i have been having this problem. i tried flashing back to other roms as well and still kinda the same issue. and im on revolutionary s-off...
hope these answers are helpful... thanks for the reply guys...
EDIT: also, i used to have similar issues when i was in the stock rom at the very beginning which got solved later when i recieved an official update...i.e. before i s-off'd my phone...

He He He... guess i'm not much of a sleuth then!!
Are you sure the call drop issue is not a network provider problem {since it is happening on other ROMs as well, and it wasn't there before (your radio has been the same all along BTW)}
Have you tried putting your SIM in a basic phone and trying out whether the problem persists....this could indicate a network problem. I remember a few months ago Airtel service had gone to the dogs and everyone on Airtel (especially in Delhi) was writhing in agony...
Secondly, try using another carrier's SIM card in your DS and see if the problem still persists...
sry...i think u got me wrong der... i used to face the same problem on stock rom while i purchased the phone but, after updating it,it was pretty much and i never faced any problems until now. and i dont think its the carriers problem as im able to use the same sim card on a basic phone without any issues... and other users on the same carrier around me aint facing any problems with the network either... so, i guess im pretty much stuck and back to square one... :S
Hey.
Just bought a HTC Evo 3D for £220.00 and I have no idea what roms are ect, infact this is my first android phone, and like the idea of being able to have a better camera on my phone and using beats audio.
I read your how to guide on how to instal this, but it went way over my head. I dont even know what a ROM is or kernal ect..
Is there a step by step dummy guide for someone who has never used a android phone before eg:
First install this program on your PC then do this, then you need to get this file and install it here ect and then do this.
I am seriously android dumb, my last phone was a sony Elm which would not even get the internet. and now hooked on the android phones.
Thanks so much.

Welcome! No questions are dumb. We all have to start somewhere! I started Android with the Droid X. Android rules.
Youtube will also probably help you since you can actually see and pause the video at your own time following instructions step by step.
Good luck man!!!

What phone do you have? Which specific ROM did you flash? What instructions did you follow? Lots of people are using ICS ROMs with not trouble, so you should be able to get it to work, but need more info.
Here is droidstyle's guide that may be of some help... it's written for the Fascinate, but it applies to other versions of the i500 as well. You just have to make sure you have the correct files for your device.
I wasnt sure where to post this because I couldn't find any real information about the Telstra Version of the phone and associated ROMS, so here it goes.
I currently have the Sensation Telstra Version Z710a that uses the GSM network 850/1900MHZ.
I would like to install a custom rom because Telstra installs bloatware on top of the HTC vanilla and it really impacts the phone.
I have a stock Sensation and i have NEVER had a crash or slow down issue with it but due to where i work i needed the 850/1900 version which Telstra had and i have had slow downs, crashes and all sorts of problems.
So what i would like to do is install one of the latest custom ROMS, so i just need to ask a couple of questions to please point me in the right direction.
1. Would any ROM work with this version of the Sensation?
2. If I install a new version of the RADIO would/could that cause a problem because of the different network frequency it works on?
3. Could you please direct me to how i would proceed with what i need to do to install the custom ROM ( I have looked at the Energy Rom and the install process confuses me, is there a simpler explanation to what Radio and booting programs i need and will they work with the phone i have listed above?
I think thats about it, thanks in advance.
This may help.

Thanks for that it helped alot although I installed another rom to the one he was talking about in the videos and it still worked.
There was one thing though, there is way to much information out there it was mind boggling and even though the clips helped there were things inbetween that i had to look for and figure out myself, which wasnt that bad but for a noob worse than me would find it to difficult.
Maybe there needs to be a tutorial that explains it from scratch on a how to, the above tutorial was great but some things were left out inbetween.
P.S I need to update by sig, lol, bit old now.
