[Q] Baseband upgrade - T-Mobile LG G2x

Why is it that on my HTC Desire I can just flash basebands like theres no tomorow but on my LG, no no no.
I understand its 2 different companies, but why is it not possible to just flash through CWM like I did on my HTC?

Because the baseband is stored on a hidden partition that can only be accessed with the proper software on PC that is hard to get, or by using jtag (or similar) method.

OMG! Joetong - dats how people brick there phones... Never flash something you not completely comfortable flashing... radio mistakes are still ok, but SPL's can render your phone completely useless. The radio does not really add any functionality except network related stuff. Keep with the one you got unless required by a ROM.
My valuable TIP is to stay what the masses else you may get some sporadic network issues which no one can help you with. Radios are usually only updated to resolve network related issues in specific areas - DON'T BREAK SOMETHING THAT'S NOT BROKEN (very wise engineering practise)

[RUU] International Aria Stock RUUS for factory Restore

Here Are Stock RUUs for Various International Arias
Optus-RUU_Liberty_Optus_AU_1.37.980.1
Asia TW-RUU_Liberty_hTC_Asia_TW_1.35.709.3
Asia HK-RUU_Liberty_hTC_Asia_HK_CHT_1.35.708.4
Asia WWE-RUU_Liberty_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.35.707.5
Asia India-RUU_Liberty_hTC_Asia_India_1.35.720.2
Since theres been some people coming into the IRC asking where they can find RUUS for their international arias I found these for you.
BUT I dont reccomend Flashing these unless you need to go to stock for factory repair ETC. because we are unsure if these RUUs patch the Exploit used By Unrevoked. I know it may be tempting because these Are different sense versions then the AT&T aria but i assure you if theres anything worthwhile in these roms it will be implemented into Liberated.
Also it seems that these RUUs check for signatures from HBOOT so these will only flash on the Arias They're Made for.
Thanks! It's releas"ing"
may I know how is it come from? leaked from HTC? Just curious.
Is there any way to tell which version OS they're running?

Yes, they all work. but they only work for the different aria versions they were made for. they all have different signatures within the Hboot, so they check that and if it matches with the various international aria they then will flash.

That's exactly what the poster means. They will replace the recovery partition and you'll lose the ability to flash non-htc ROMs. If you want to play, extract the ROM and use a rom-kitchen (or just manipulate the files directly like I do), then flash with clockwork.

Yes you may not be able to root again, because we can't test the hboots in these Ruus. That's why I only reccomend flashing these if u need the original rom/recovery on the phone for warranty service from htc, etc.

You cant reflash different regions for different arias using these ruus. They have a mechanism that checks for a signature in hboot that matches each specific ruu.
Although you can extract system.img out of the rom.zip and make a flashable rom.
Have just tried to install the Asia HK RUU. It works and it is possible to root again.

After the pre-Christmas revelation, I was out looking for a US RUU minus the dispicable CarrierIQ rootkit. I do not think I will find anything like that. So far all that I have found that looked appealing was to root and flash cyanogenMod. So, until I perk it up one way or another I have a new Aria minus ATT carrier SIM I use for gps nav, email checks, and keeping tabs on all the other stuff via WiFi. All the calls, etc. are processed with my 8925 still.
And no, even after cleaning out CarrierIQ and installing the Carrier SIM, I do not intend on purchasing their bloated overpriced data plan. I already subscribe to their bloated underpowered ADSL. 2480 down, 428 up. I am embarrased for AT&T since they have no shame.

[Q] going to start experimenting with my Nexus s

Finally got a nexus s, & wanna start experimenting with root & ROMs, but i used to htc sense phones in which i can just use stock rom exe to go back to stock ROM, how do i do the same thing with my nexus s, i mean if something goes wrong is there any way of going back to stock ROM,
don't say just do the nandroid, because that means rooting first, can somebody please help me on this one
starting experimenting
if you want experimenting with your NS you have to root the phone first. It is really easy to root the nexus s, just have a look at this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=895545
and then you can make a nandroid backup, like what you said.
if somethings goes wrong anyway, there is a way to go to stock as well.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884093
just try, in worst case you can go to stock
The answer is Nandroid.
Nexus phones are different. Super easy.
Fastboot OEM unlock
Accept the warning
Fastboot flash recovery blah.img
Make nandroid, mount it back it up etc. Then flash whatever rom u want.
If u want to go back to stock, nandroid recover then
Fastboot OEM lock
say yes and you're back to stock.
-Nexus S
It is NOT necessary to oem unlock the phone to flash clockwork or a custom rom. See this method here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931865
Also, if you're going to oem unlock, be aware it completely wipes all data off the phone, including anything on the sdcard you may have put there (like pics from the camera).
Finally, the most bizarre thing about the original post is that you're willing to flash custom roms, but not to root? Huh? You're aware that most custom roms come PRE-ROOTED, aren't you? What's the difference? Just curious....
By the way, Google's own blog states they intentionally made this phone easy to root and add customizations to...it's extremely safe and easy.

polandy posted above a perfect guide to return back to stock just as shipped through manufacturer. Just make sure you relock the BOOTLOADER for any warranty purposes. I didn't say a there was European version of the Nexus S (yet)...but it's well known that there is one coming. I said this was a European version of the ROM.
Did you read the thread that has the files? The first post says that the guy obtained it from Samsung service center in England. Then someone asked if there was a US version, and no one corrected him in saying that this one was or wasn't. Granted, Samsung England could easily have access to US ROMs from the Samsung mothership, so that alone is not proof it is European.
However, if you download the rar file from that thread, and unrar it, you'll see that it contains a file named "CSC_I9020_EUR.tar" which is clearly a EURopean CSC file, making this a European ROM.
The PDA file's images may be 100% the same as a stock US phone, but until someone flashes this stuff from Odin and somehow runs a diff against a stock US ROM, I'm not assuming it's the same thing just on faith. You're welcome too, of course.
What's interesting to me is that there is a CSC at all. I don't think our Nexus S uses it, or at least it doesn't use it in the same way as the Samsung issued ROMS do. CSC is carrier specific customizations, if you're not familiar with it; it's a way to add bloatware and carrier settings to the phone.

My htc one s is dead

Hi! Yesterday, after installation of new room my htc don't take signal phone. I can't make calls except emergency number. I try with other two roms but i have the same problem. Now, when i boot the phone, on the white screen of htc i see "this build is ford evelopment purposes only ecc."
Its not dead. The red writing upon boot is normal if you have custom ROM...
Did you flash the correct boot.img for your ROM ? Do you have the correct APN settings ?
Have you done a full wipe in recovery ? have you gone back to a ROM when signal did work ?
Hi, where i can find the correct boot.img for my rom?
I try some rom but i can't resolve problem.
Sounds like your efs or imei has gotten deleted. This happened a lot with the Vibrant when I had mine (not to me, but others complained about it constantly), so I always backed them up with ROM Manager, or SGS Kernel Flasher just in case. Not sure if it applies with the One S, but the symptoms are identical.

Simple. You flashed a ROM for the one X on your One S..
do a full wipe and flash the correct ROM
Friends, he didn't flash a wrong rom. He simply flashed a one s rom with a wrong text string. I'm pretty shure it's/was Pauls Ir1 1.78.401.2 DUO...
Here is a screenshot, as i kept a nandroidbackup.
And ey, would the device have been booting if it's a wrong rom?

[Help] Is My Sensation Permanently Bricked?

I did a bad, bad thing. I thought I understood the process much better than I actually did and quickly found myself in over my head. Now I'm worried that I have a permanently bricked, very expensive paperweight on my hands. Is there any hope for recovering my Sensation?
My goal was to install CM9.
These are the steps that led to this problem:
Did the HTC Dev Unlock through the HTC website.
I used the KGS Utility v6.6 to root the device. The script told me it was successful, but I opened a terminal on the phone and couldn't tell if I had root priveleges.
Tried Juopunutbear to S-Off, but the script said it couldn't find device. “Connect Device and Install Drivers.”
Stupidly following directions I found online, I used the One X All In One Kit v1.0. I thought this was specifically for the Sensation at the time. I hit the button to flash the kernal and that's where my troubles begin. Couldn't get past HTC loading screen.
Power Button + Down volume to get into boot loader, instead. “Recovery” and “Factory Setting” in Fastboot wouldn't load anything at all.
Tried using Fastboot in a command line. I attempted to install a recovery image, but it wouldn't take. The bootloader was in “relocked” mode.
An online thread I found said that you can't flash a recovery unless your bootloader is unlocked. I took the advice in that thread and told Fastboot to use the Unlock_code.bin file once again. The phone said it was about to unlock. Then it completely shut off.
The phone will not turn on, and I can't even get it to boot into recovery mode.
Is there any hope for me? Thanks in advance for your help.

Thats a brick all right. You can always try the unbricking method by dexter in the dev section but for this specific case, dont get your hopes up because I dont think it will work but its worth a try.
If it doesnt work the only way to unbrick is to find someone who can JTAG it

First and foremost, contact HTC. They don't check bricked devices.
Also, it doesn't matter if you bought the phone used because the warranty is traced by the serial number of the device.
Contact them & say that the phone randomly switched off & never came back on.
If they find the device to be in warranty, which is most likely, then they will replace the mobo on the phone.
You shouldn't have any hardware modified on the phone & all the warranty stickers should be present.
Try using dexters HTC sensation unbrick tool, if that doesn't work then try looking for a jtagging service. If your from the UK then try fonefunshop.com

I used the HTC Dev Unlock tool through their website. I was under the impression that doing that voids your warranty? Does anyone happen to know?
Also, a question about JTAG-ing the phone. Does that process also restore the operating system or just get you into Hboot? Just curious if I'll end up with a fully functional phone through a JTAG service (in case HTC can't help).

JTAG forces the correct files onto the partitions of your phone however it wont do it for boot, system or data partitions because that would make the resurector dll enormous to download, as it is the resurecter is already over 15mb.
After JTAG then I would suggest flash an RUU or custom ROM immediately because after JTAG phone boots but is unstable.

JTAG will not solve any hardware faults & this seems like a hardware fault. Remember, once you try JTAG, warranty is void even if you had it before.
Talk to HTC support first. They will not check anything at all on the phone. If you don't try, it's your loss.
There's no need to mention anything about what happened. Just say it happened randomly.

Yes but the unlock token is still software, not hardware and from what I can gather the One X kernel thing is flashed to a different partition on the eMMC chip than a sensation kernel so this looks to me (I could be wrong if course) that a kernel was flashed to a partition containing other data which resulted in that data being erased/overwritten
