[Q] connecting ipad/iphone to asus - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was wondering, is there any app that allows you to connect ipod/ipad to the asus transformer via the usb? Perhaps copy the music or send pictures over or something.
Sorry for the repost, i have no clue how to delete that post.

The best you can do is pull the photos off, just like connecting your iDevice to a computer without iTunes.
Apple has the internal storage locked down on iDevices so you are forced to use iTunes. That makes it more 'convenient' to use iTunes to purchase everything.

If you are wanting to copy over music and photos, maybe you could use something like Box from the (android) market, not sure if there is one is the appstore or not, but I know that Box has a special until 3/24 maybe that gives you 50gb of storage.
Maybe browse both the market and appstore and see if there are any apps that are in both and try to do it that way. Could use Dropbox but by the time is all got uploaded, your Top-40 hits would be Classic Rock.

Wifi Sync

Hello, I am looking for an android app that when i connect to my home wifi it looks for a folder on my computer and syncs whatever is in it onto a folder in my SD card. Any good recommendations?
Its not 100% exactly what you described, but have you tried Dropbox? Syncs a folder on your computer with the service, and you can sync that with the dropbox app on your phone.

You're basically describing Dropbox. As long as you have a data connection you can access anything in the folder and view/download straight to your phone. I keep all my root stuff in Dropbox so I don't need to keep it on sd card. That way anything I need, I downoad, use, and delete. Plus, it allows me to search and download roms while at work and then when I get home they automatically update to my home computer for flashing.
Click the referral link in my sig and we both get an extra 500mb of space (I have an edu email address). You have to install the desktop application to get your referral credit though.
EDIT - REFERRAL LINK
Hey thank you for the replys so far. I do have drop box and I do love it! But I am looking for that one extra step at the end. What I don't like about drop box is I have to then manually download the files from it to my phone. Basically want once I connect to my home wifi it reaches out to my pc and syncs with a folder on it to a folder on my sd automatically. I don't mind if I have to setup a share or file server on my pc.

Post if you find a good app, I'm sure it's doable. Would probably operate much like RemoteDroid does for the mouse. Love that app!
DUDE - found this earlier today but haven't clicked cuz dude has ONE POST and I'm not convinced it isn't a virus. Looked it up on www.SiteAdvisor.com and there is no record. I'm at work so not feeling brave, but if you are, then go nuts.

I have kinda found what i was looking for in Android Manager Wifi. here is a link:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/android-manager-wifi/com.mobileaction.AmAgent
It has many options, one being able to select a folder on ur computer and one on your SD card for them to sync up automatically. Testing out to see how REALLY automated the whole process is. But none the less this is a great app for many things it seems. People should definitely check it out!
Didn't Double Twist just implement that? Need the "pay" version ($.99), but it has something called Air Synch. Look into this and let me know if it is what you want.

Checked out Double Twist Air Sync and its not bad. But seems to only do music, videos, pics and playlist syncing. I need it to be able to do any kind of file/folder. But for multimedia people out there its something to check out.
Syncables is a broader sync solution than Double Twist

I've read similar critiques of Double Twist. I prefer Syncables through and through - and it think that's more of what you're looking for. Syncables will sync any type of folder, media file, spreadsheet, email, and even browser bookmark. It also syncs between Macs and PCs and smartphones like Droid and BlackBerries.
It has a wider suite of sync/backup/share products than the more niche Double Twist product...oh, and it has wireless sync capability using WiFi, as well.
I am actually writing an app that does exactly what you want. It's not done but the functionality is there to sync a folder (with no PC client needed). If you want to help me test it you can PM me with an email address to send you the APK.
Yea i will check it out. Sent you a PM
Just a random idea but is there an app that works with dropbox and automatically downloads changes to it to your SD card? Seems like that would also be sweet for alot of people.

[Q] Google Books Storage Location

Does anyone know the location of an eBook once you tell it to make it available offline?
Or
I've got some eBooks that I would like to make available to the Books app on the XOOM, where do I put them?
You beat me to it, I was just wondering the same. I have several thousand books I would like to be able to drop in.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
They are In the data/data folder...in the google.books folder...don't have my xoom at work, so can't give you the hole name.

It appears to be a proprietary book format, but I don't know enough about it for sure.
Each book is split up into many different files. I've transfered it to my computer to investigate it further, but I've had no luck.
I went looking when I first got the Xoom because I wanted to put my book collection in there.
Someone smarter than me will have to figure out how to do that!
The only alternative I've found so far is using Aldiko (ebook reader from the Market). You store the eBooks on the XOOM and import them into the app. I would prefer to use Google Books however.
That's incredibly frustrating. Even iBooks allows you to add your own epub. If Google Book a can't that's a huge setback for me. I read a couple hours a day on my tablet.

*BUMP* Anything new discovered? It sucks that we need another application and can't use the built in for reading ebooks. I love how books lets you turn pages.

The nook app has a very similar page turn animation and I think the app in general looks better on honeycomb than both kindle and google books. Maybe give that one a try!

Nook is only available to US users (and maybe certain other countries, but I'm not sure). People outside of US can't download nook. You have to find a way to sideload it to your Xoom if you are not in the US.
And Nook has problems displaying book covers from my own epubs. So I'm sticking to Kindle but converting to mobi format may be a hassle to some.
How did you manage to successfully import your mobi files to Kindle?
I have tried copying the files to the SD card location which makes them appear in the app but the app crashes when I try to open them. I have also tried opening them with the Kindle app from my file manager. Again, this was unsuccessful.
Thanks for your help in advance!

have u guys tried iReader?
awesomely free!
I know its been awhile since this was last commented honest and maybe Google has updated Play Books since the last comments, regardless im pretty sure that it now doesnt matter where you get your digital content. Play Books will permit you to upload them and read across multiple devices. I have a fairly decent collection and i go back and forth between my Note III & Note VIII. If the book that you want to read isnt on the particular device that your using, Play Books downloads it. I have been unsuccessful in finding the default directory for the appand it was that very question that brought me to this post. :good:

amazon kindle app, where to put files

ok i have a ton of .mobi files on my computer something like over 2k of them, and i want to add them to my transformer to read thru the amazon kindle app.
however i have a problem, when i transfer them over to the transformer into the kindle folder when i open the amazon kindle app it doesnt show up at all!
is there another place im supposed to put them?
i really dont fancy using calibre and converting all these books to another format, i really like the amazon kindle app and want to use that if possible.
if not are there any other apps that can read .mobi files?
You can put all you .mobi file under /sdcard/kindle
hmm wierd that was the first thing i tried but for some reason they dont show up when i put them there

Bit the bullet and its real cloudy in here...

So I saw that progress is being made with root being available so I went ahead and bought the at&t htc one, its nice and lighter than my inspire. So maybe not having an sd card slot isnt going to be that bad with all the cloud storage available so I'd like to know from you guys using it which are the better cloud apps I should use where transferring media/docs is secure and fast. I'm pretty sure with this nice camera I'd like to take pics/video and not worry about space. I'm not so sure I'm interested in the dropbox offer for this phone where its only good for 2 years? I know I have 50GB on box.com but I think there are file transfer size limitations? Honestly never used it as I prefer my old trusty sd card.
Also, whats the best root method for this device?
You've got five gigs in google drive , I use box and dropbox no file limits on db, as for box I believe it's 100 mb limits with uploads, I've uploaded a few nandroids from gnex to bix with no prob

lol there is only 1 method to root .
and i use dropbox, configured so that it automatically uploads my pictures from my phone when on wifi
Box is useless for me since there's no sync agent on the desktop. I have 25gb on Skydrive but there's no sync on Android.
It comes down to gDrive an Dropbox. I currently use mostly Dropbox.

when you install dropbox you automatically get 25 gb bonus.*
there is a method to get a ton of free space via referals (i got up to 20 gb with this) going to have to google it because i dont think i can post on here*
*cough involves linux and virtual pc cough*
the 1 click is perma root
If you're like most, what you'll be moving around is likely to be music, pics, video, and files. One storage solution might not be the best for everything. Here's what I'm doing.
General - I have a home server and everything I have is on there. I stream video I've ripped off of it using Plex and/or PlayOn rather than screwing around with moving GB size files. If I'm traveling I'll download some stuff to watch when offline. Astro has a network module that allows me to move stuff at home and my server's a WHS and there's an app that gives me remote access if I want to d/l stuff on the road. A NAS or home server can be great when you have lots of content you view or share across your home network and remote devices.
Music - I use Amazon MP3 to store all my audio (I have it set to sync with my home server). The player shows what's local and remote via a single interface. It's not the prettiest app in the world but it's reliable and works well. I tried Google Music but didn't like the way it took over my phone.
Pics/Video - The Flickr integration built in to the phone's pretty cool. I moved from Photobucket because of it. I have it set in Sense to automatically upload the pics and videos I take. I use the mobile Flickr site to download and view stuff because adding the dedicated app confused the phone because of its native integration.
Docs and Files - I use Sense for SkyDrive because it's MS Office friendly when I want to share stuff with others. I'll use my home server if it's something I'll just be using myself. MS had a 25GB offer going for people already registered but I don't know if it's still in affect.
Just some real world stuff in case it helps anyone. There are dozens of ways to accomplish the same thing.
I use Google drive for music and drop box for other files. I downloaded an app to sync my music folder with Google drive when a change occurs in the folder. And other media and files to drop box using the same app.
I would however prefer to point the library in my player to Google drive directly or another cloud storage to avoid local copies.

It should be in accounts and sync greyed out or available to add. I have an international version so if AT&T chose to omit it as an "enhancement" let me know and I'll post the APK.

I use dropbox for photos, google music for music and this app called Folder Sync for general stuff.
Dropbox is good, but I have 25 gb on skydive and its amazing how you can use office 2010 on the desktop to edit your skydive files. Don't need to buy office ever again. Can't wait till they have a skydive app that can edit files.
Any news on skydive app for sense?

as far as file size limitations go... I've put files larger than 1GB on Google Drive. The one downside to Google Drive android app is I can't figure out how to copy files from Google Drive to my SDcard storage.

Unable to transfer music to Nexus 5

So I've googled till my face went blue and for 2 days I have yet to find a free, reliable way to transfer music from my Macbook Air to my Nexus 5.
Google Music: Not supported in my location. I used a VPN to access the page, but even Standard Access asks for $0 purchase from a US credit card to activate the account (it greys out my foreign-issued VISA as "unsupported payment method", even though the card works for everything else on Play Store). If things get really desperate I guess I'll try using a virtual credit card (which requires a small payment), but I want to hold that off for now, since I'm worried Google might have other location-banning tricks up their sleeve, and registering with a fake shipping address might come back and bite me later.
DoubleTwist: Cable sync doesn't work, and I don't want to pay for a wireless solution which will be undoubtedly slow.
Winamp: This ugly piece of crap instantaneously crashes whenever I click the sync button.
AFT: Tired of looking for a sync solution, I gave up and figured I'd just drag and drop. Hits me with "Could not create folder try reconnecting or restarting your device.", which doesn't work either. I read online that changing USB connection mode to PTP instead of MTP solves the issue, but that didn't work either.
Right now, I'm considering FTP'ing into my phone.
I'd really appreciate alternate solutions or recommendations for free FTP apps, preferably with sync feature.
Thank you
Macs are notoriously bad with mtp unfortunately.
Ftp cafe is a good free FTP client for android. Works like any pc client such as filezilla. Can't help with making your mac an ftp server though
Foldersync can also sync via ftp....

I could imagine setting up a folder sync with it using Tasker however this I have not tried.
I'm using iSyncr for Mac (paid app) for wireless syncing.
Another alternative I use is AirDroid, which also supports wireless syncing.
