Seems like everyone has abandoned any idea of using SetCPU on a custom ROM. I'm currently running Glitterballs's 1.2 GHz OC/UV kernel, and it seems to be working perfectly. I'm going to update the op with how it works through the day. I currently have a screenoff profile set and a screenon profile set, with no issues. Feel free to try it yourself, however I wouldn't try it on any kernel besides Glitterballs's just yet until I do more testing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419.
I just installed SetCPU and it looks like it's working very well so far!
SetCPU crashed my phone when I put it to sleep... just use OC/UV to do your OCing.. no need to use setCPU.
YMMV, but I've been using SetCPU with every OC/UV kernel I've ever tried. I don't use any of the "profile" features, but I do use it to control the CPU speed and keep track of "time_in_state" stats and a few other things.
That includes SetiroN's kernel, Unhelpful's 2.1 kernel, and Glitterball's kernel. I even sometimes use it on non-OC kernels just to change the CPU power scheduler, like to force a specific speed.
Again, might be different for others, but in my experience, there's nothing wrong with SetCPU.
This is the best I've come across. MMS app, Opera Mobile, Opera Mini, Market, Maps and more all at once. Brilliant.
Posting it here as I know this is the busiest place. Move if it causes an issue.
Cheers!

Does it do the same thing as Zeppenlinrox's Supercharged scripts?
No, it seems to work better - I had with zeppelin's script about 50MB free ram, now I have 80MB...awesome - my phone works so much better without any performance decrease...
Trying it now. Do you recommend using it with hard to kill launcher setting? Or just return that to normal?
This script changes memfree and VM values although I do not fully understand what the script is doing.
I've been using it for a few days and I see no changes what-so-ever, good nor bad.

Agree. No changes for me a all.

Well,i used the script with zeppelinrox' script and it seems they work brilliantly together:20-30mb more ram
I don't see how it clears up RAM without removing applications from it =/ .
Here works pretty well (and it's not a placebo effect)! The phone rurs better... everywhere! )
definately works. just test loading apps and switch between to see which stay open. you'll notice too there should be smoother overall performance, for example when resuming from sleep. ive also asked the guy directly and the lower frequency of android os ram cleanouts mean battery improvements. i find it for some reason better than zepplins.
i use 6.1 and have home and mms locked in mem and this script running. with no script/zepplins id be unable to watch a flash stream, answer a text and keep the flash vid running, with this i can, its great!

it removes certain apps after sleeping when in background i think. things like maps/nav/streams stay open though
Gaming wise this script fails, cut the rope hangs and is so laggy but on normal cronos gingerbrad its good.
Apart from that this script is amazing! Get 80mb free with 2 apps running (and keyboard and services!)

In overall it gives snappier performance on my stone with CGMM ROM.
I would like to try this script with MIUI 1.7.1. I flashed MIUI 1.7.1 before and got 4 reboots within an hour with all the apps sit inside the ext2 partition that cost 60Mb+ RAM. I'm not hoping multi-tasking on MIUI with this script. It will be already good enough if this script can help to run those 60Mb+ RAM background services without reboot on MIUI.
applied the script on FroyoMOD.No changes.

Apart from the aggressive minfree/lowmemory killer setting, they are all sysctl tweaks.
You can get those plus more in AOR's kernel tuning menu item.
In V8 SuperCharger, I will be using the best sysctl tweaks, 3g tweaks, io scheduler tweaks (noop) and tell android that the phone doesn't have a hard drive lol
I'll probably put in the SD card tweak with a user selectable value (pick from 1 to 3 or whatever)
That way, I don't have to assume what works best for the user and the user can screw with it lol
There's more, but I forget right now...

Looking forward to it! Any idea when it'll come out?

Well, I had stopped working on it because I kept on perfecting V6.
But it's functional with the user selectable colours and what I have added so far... the 3G TurboCharger (usually build.prop tweaks but I'm screwing with local.prop) and that Overclocker that we had discussed previously.
The Overclocker won't make the final though because it's not universally applicable but I will probably make a Milestone version that includes it or make a "Zeppelinrox's Milestone Toolbox" script lol
Oh yeah, I want to add something called "Lock 'n Load Apps"

Heh.. the damn thing works FLAWLESSLY... it even has limits on vsels and mhz... max 80vsel and max 1200mhz
All I need is somebody telling me that I fried their phone

I have installed the clemsyn v4 kernel...what are the best SetCPU settings that seem to be the most stable? Im new to SetCPU and not quite sure how to set it? What should the scaling be set too? Right now i have it on "interactive" is that good or should it be "ondemand"???
What about profiles? What are some basic profiles i should set up? Charging, temp, ect...
Sorry noob here just trying to learn...
Interactive is fine. There's no right or wrong imo.
Play around with the settings to your liking.

Hey guys
I have a few questions here about CM7 and Kernels and undervolting more specifically!
1) Used to have CM7 before and went back to stock because of battery issues but i want to try it again. Soooo is it still gonna be a pain of having to go through my 200ish contacts and linking them one by one with their facebooks and twitters unlike with my Stock HTC sense? D: i didnt save a back up of last time i tried CM7 because i was sure i wouldnt go back until there was at least a RC or a stable version. How stable is the alpha anyways? For some reason battery wasnt great at all...
2) Kernels. so i know CM7 comes with its own kernel and you can overclock to 1.5ghz but what if i wanted to undervolt to make the battery last longer?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258816
say i want a good kernel here that allows me to OC at 1.5ghz, all of those work with CM7 right? but which one? Some of these things arent too noob friendly.
and the whole Undervolt thing i dont get AT ALL. could someone please explain this?
thanks in advance guys!
also can i install Beats on CM7?
To get facebook contact pictures all you have to do is first sync your contacts from your google account then download the facebook app and when it asks you about sync options select either sync with existing or sync all contacts.
The alpha is very stable cm7 has had many bugfixes since it was first released. Mine has occasionally crashed once or twice and I had to reboot. The battery life is great and i recommend a different launcher, like launcher pro(buttery smooth). CM7 is so fast I experience no lag when i underclock my phone to 756, something I haven't experienced with sense.
The kernels that work with cm7 are the ones that state it is aosp/cm7 if it says sense in the title than don't flash it. Currently, the faux kernel has the most features working. And to undervolt the kernel download this app called fauxclock from here:
http://rootzwiki.com/showthread.php?5315-APP-0.7.2-BETA-Snapdragon-Dual-Core-OC-Control&
once in the app you can set the frequencies of the processor, AND if you slide to the right you can undervolt it, play around with the voltage, but the app's feature of underclocking when the screen is off doesn't work so download setcpu and set a profile to do it.
I believe beats will not work on cm7 because beats only runs off the htc music app which requires a htc sense framework
What I believe undervolting does is (noob description) lower the amount of voltage the processor runs on therefore better battery life but maintains the speed.
does that help? And give me a thanks please

thanks alot =) does help. as to the facebook thing i dont know if it'll work that way because my contact names arent exactly the same as some people's facebook names so maybe about 30 of my 200ish contacts will sync with facebook and i have to manually do it and its a pain! facebook sense generally works better then itll just automatically sync with the other facebook app and presto :/

try this app to sync ur facebook contacts.. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nloko.android.syncmypix&feature=search_result i use it and it works great.
just flashed 5.1 and then patch.cant find cpu settings, shouldnt that be under tweaks?
Havent used lee in a while. Check for an app. Setcpu - deamon controller - something like that. Dont remember if you can tweak those things in his rom.

yes i used rom toolbox, just found it strange that it wouldnt be under tweaks. coming from cm7 that had a million settings to this rom that only has a few settings
Sense roms as miui tend to have less tweaking options.
