[Q] Help with Google play store! - General Questions and Answers

So market changed to Google play store...fine, whatever.
Problem is I have 3 Gmail accounts on my phone yet Google play store is only showing two of them...so how in the hell do I add the third one so the apps I have under that account can be updated when necessary?!?
I did a search on Google and of course I find nothing.
Thanks!

Assuming a recent build (Gingerbread, ICS...) Settings\Accounts and Sync\Add Account.

Not on gingerbread. Samsung Epic 4G with midNIGHT Rom v 5.3.
When I go into settings I don't see an option to add an account for Google Play.
Now here's the rub...the account that doesn't show up on my phone...is the account I registered under on my laptop.
I'm am totally, completely and thoroughly stumped!

Is the account still showing in settings > accounts as a Google account? If it is then I suggest you contact them directly as it's obviously an issue.

Somehow the missing account was deleted from my phone.
Added it back. All is well.
Thanks all!

If not showing up on your phone (home screen\settings\Accounts and sync), I would try re-adding the account to the phone and see what happens. If not, as Archer suggests, contacting Google would be a good idea.
Edit: You solved it while I was posting.

I can no longer get into the Android market unless I agree to accept whatever Google's legal terms are for their 'Play' and 'Books' services. But I don't intend ever to use these. Google really is getting beyond the pale, presumably introducing this change on a day when they hope that attention will be focussed on whatever Apple are up to. I shall now be looking for alternate market places. Any pointers please?

Please don't purposely go off-topic just to boost your post count. At least the other thread where you copied and pasted this post was relevant!

Whoa...pump your brakes!
I was in a hurry and posted it in a general forum...I didn't have any malicious intentions. lmao!

SlideMe
Have you tried getting apps from slideme.org ?
It's like Google Play but includes non-Market apps also.

[Q] Does anyone else not use "The Cloud"?

This is related to any phone or really any device, but does anyone else not really use cloud services? To me, it seems like a waste of time and money to stream gigs of music that I could just store on a microSD card, and if it can't fit on that microSD, then I don't need it - simple as that.

I apologize for that, didn't even think about that.
I tried google music, but you are right.
I didn't see any point in uploading all my music when i could just have put it on a sdcard.
There are usefull scenarios though:
- Giving multiple devices access to your music
- Managing it from a single site
Then again, do i wan't to trust a 3rd party with my music collection?
Bandwidth is a problem too for most users.
I do use dropbox though, regularly and extensively for files lecture files etc, but not for any music.

Android known issues and bugs

Id like to start a thread where we would post bugs and issuses that are present with all android devices, regardless of the manufacturer.
Purpose: it would be a hell easier for devs to find them that way and fix them, after all, it is in our interest to have andoid as close to perfect
(Only for STOCK roms and google applications)

Screen blackout:
Preset at Samsung, HTC, LG
Sometimes the screen just goes off anv wont turn off regardless of the button combination u press, the only known solution is to take out the battery
GOOGLE search, latest version
Preset at HTC
Latest version of google search doesnt allow to search music when following the path:
open music player -> go to the listings tab -> choose all songs listing
When pressing the search button nothing happens
Feel free to state ur problems/bugs

Last warning, next will be an infraction

Do you guys use dropbox?

In case you're not familiar, dropbox is a free service that provides 2.5gb of FREE online storage. It is is nice to be able to back up and access from any computer in the world your most important files(and now it automatically backs up every photo you take with an android phone)
Essentially what it does is put a folder on your computer which you can move files to. Any file in that folder is automatically uploaded to their server, which you can get at any time. It will also sync between multiple computers or smartphones.
I just thought I'd share because it's a service I can't live without, and it certainly provides piece of mind to have everything important backed up. I keep my resume, car titles, etc, on there, as well as my entire e-book library.
If you're interested in trying it, please click the link below and we both get an extra 500mb of storage space when you sign up.
Sorry, already do, and it's one of those things that board the "Can/can't live without" line pretty narrowly.
As long as there's a computer or relatively fast network around, you'll never have a moment when all your vacation pictures or that important spreadsheet is unavailable ;D
Of course I use Dropbox! But, I won't post an invite link, like you did.
There's also Box.net. I signed up at the right day and got 50 GB. If you use an app called FolderSync, you can sync effortless too.
Yes. I just got a mail from them that refer a friend and they will add 500 mb storage to your account. Max up to 16 GB. I have never gone beyond 2 gb lol.
Yup have been for years sorry though but i think the posting of dropbox referrals is a kinda gray area in the rules on the site...
Works really well with Titanium Back Up on an Android phone. Just don't have to worry about hradware problems loosing data and progs. The free 2.5 gb is more than enough for that.
Nope.
Tbh, as much as I like the fact you are giving people info on dropbox and its usefulness, I'm not so keen on you posting your referral link. If we allow one, then others will also post similar threads. What I suggest is you:
A.) Add referral link to your sig
Or
B.) Add it to your rom/theme/mod/etc thread's OP (if you have one) as a thank/donate type item.
For the above reasons I ask you to remove the referral link in OP. If not removed within 24 hrs I shall remove it myself and may be forced to issue a punishment, which I do not want to do. I hope you understand

i just register dropbox and will give a try to use it
Of course I use it! I've an student account so I've got double space on it.
The integration with Android smartphones and the computer is simply awesome.
I've got a Box account also because there was a promotion few weeks ago, if you installed the box app on our android phones they give us a 50GB account so, it's pretty awesome also
I use it . Thanks for the tip on Box .

Yeah, i've been using dropbox for 2 years now, as far as i can say it saved my life a couple of times

[Q] App for android devices inquiry

I am a helpdesk analyst for a company that assigns android phones and devices. We need to update the database of all users who have a device assigned to them. We need to capture all the serial numbers from the devices. Is there an app for this? Or is there someone who can get me started in creating one.
Preferrably, we would like the app to have a user account that we would require all of our users to download and instal off the network. Ideally we could expand off this concept and actually deploy company updates and apps.
Any ideas?

Assuming you already have the device data? Couldn't you send out a push notification requesting current users to register their device on the network, and have all new devices registered before they're issued?
This way you could send out push notifications of when new updates are available.

When does a rate/review is considered invalid?

Hello to all,
I released my first free Android App on Play Store.
My concern is that it'll may be removed because of fake/invalid reviews or similar.
The following reviews are considered valid or they can cause its removal or an account ban form the Play Store?
- I rate my own App with the same account used as developer
- My wife/colleagues/kindred rate my App with their personal Google account using the same IP I use to login in the Play Console
- My colleagues rate my App with their personal Google account using the same IP I use to login in any Google service (e.g. Gmail, Drive, ...)
- Rate from users set as App tester in the previous version of the App inside a close group (alpha), independently of the IP used
I already searched for an official information on the Web, without success.
(Please tell me If I posted in the wrong/inappropriate forum or directly move this question to the right place for me)
Thanks a lot!

Let the community of users that download the app make their own legitimate reviews. Let your work speak for itself, don't try to cheat. If your app is worth its salt, you won't need to pad your app's description with false reviews on its Playstore page.

You completely misunderstood my question.
I have that concern in order to avoid any Google policy violation, not to violate them!
I'll never try to cheat.
So, please post a new answer.
Thanks

Sorry, I guess I don't see the reason for your concern. If you are aware of the things that are considered violations and if you don't do those things, what is the problem?

The problem may occurs when till I operates following the Google policies, others (e.g. a colleague) post a review to my App using the same IP I use to login to the Play Console (even if I asked them to don't do it).
In this case, Google may think that there is a link between my account and his (due to the same IP), so Google may think that I created a second account for that purpose.
The same problem occurs if you click on an Adv from the same IP used by the developer: in this case you can also incur a suspension of the account!
I hope I have been clearer.

I get it, but, what are you really wanting to ask/know? We can't do anything to prevent your colleagues, friends and family from posting reviews from your IP so what are you asking for? What do you really need from us?
