Why are there a lack of N1 themes. I thought there would be more. Can someone let me know where a good place to grab some themes. either metamorph or flashing. looks like the G1 still has the best themes can these be easily ported to N1? can other phone MM themes be used on the N1. help need more options.
Why don't you work on creating some? Better yet, you could mock the people that do work hard making them with threads like these.
The lower resolution themes can be ported, just would take resizing every image. Themes for the Droid can be easily ported over since the images are the same size.

This. Period.
Don't say "I don't know how" because at one time, David1171, Jairomeo, Formel or myself didn't know how either. But we figured it out. (there are many more themers, those were just a few that came to mind quickly) There are many many posts throughout xda that give a ton of good information. Get that search button working and get busy.
To put it simply, **** or get off the pot.
Wow... you two should probably calm down. The guy wasn't being rude, obviously he was more or less surprised by the fact that there really aren't a ton of themes available for the N1, which is true. This is the problem with XDA, people are always ready to attack other members. How about you guys just worry about yourselves instead of others, and don't assume that just reading tips and how to's will automatically mean people will be able to do something. We need to encourage each other not be smart asses.
@ ced8525 The reason for the lack of themes in my opinion is the user base of the N1 is significantly smaller while the G1/MT3G/Droid. For that reason alone, there is going to be less themes and it also depends on which phones our wonderful themers have.

Good post!
Well, it is so:
Making a theme is not done in 5 Minutes. If you go to work, has an own home, two children and a wife you don't have too much time.
As hard as it sounds:
The day already has only 24 hours.
I did my "themes" at first for me. I want to have my phone so, as I like it.
Then I decide to share it. I like it, when I look into this Forum and somebody pat me on the back.
This is great and the factor, why I share that.
I have spent many hours in the www and got to know nice people.
The Nexus is new. In most countries you cant buy a nexus.
I think, if the nexus is buyable an all countries, there will be more people how can change some icons and graphics.
;-)
At second:
Load you a few themes, change the graphics and try a bit. We love to see more people, who can do this.
Sorry, this post wasn't easy to me, because my native language is not english.
No need to calm down. I'm not the one whining there are no themes for the Nexus. Which is wrong. I look at the first 5 pages of this forum and I count about 15 themes/morphs. And thats only the first 5 pages. This phone has been out for 2 months and there are already 15 themes on the first 5 pages of the forum. If that's not good enough for someone, they can make their own. It's attitudes like that that make people NOT want to do anything.

I think your right the rate at which the themes are coming out is great and while there may not be enough for that person now there sure should be in a few months lol, I mean ow many themes can you use at 1 given time
I being new to Android (Long time Sony Ericsson user) have been searching around on how to create themes and iv found a few places but its not all straight forward information.
I dont mean to be to direct but could you (or another great theme creator) make a quick How To thread on themes, from making the 9png files and editing them etc
While i was using my old SE phone i learned alot, i started porting firmware patches and became a regular source in the forums for porting but now i want to get my hands stuck into doing themes but dont really now where to start

Those threads have already been made and remade. Look around in the Android Themes forum and the G1 Theme forum.
If you want to make a morph, I have already written up a pretty nice tutorial for that, located here
There is also a copy of the .9.png tutorial located over on www.nexus-nation.com (figured since I left Manup out of the themer list earlier I would give a shout to his website since he is one of the biggest and best themers)
Hi all,
I've nearly finished a project that has been about 4 months in the making. I'm not going to go into detail about what it does or what it's for, but there are 2 applications - 1 on the PC where you make "project" files, and one for your phone where you utilise these project files.
I need some graphics doing for both apps (icons and splash screens).
I'll obviously give anyone that's interested more information about the app, but anyone that's interested let me know and, if possible, link or attach some of your work on here.
I honestly believe that this app will be a BIG hit, as it does a nearly unlimited amount of things. It will also replace the CHTEditor.
Anyone that gets their artwork in it will obviously be mentioned in both the thread and the app, so it will earn us both kudos! Me for my app looking great, and you for showing off your skills.
Thanks all!
I can do the odd graphic thing, Im not particularly good but I would be willing to have a go if no one else wanted to (which is very unlikely)
tbh I just want to know when its being release

i was looking though the touch wiz sys dump and i liked the keyboard so i put it in an update format. Just flash it, i gurantee youll like it. If not just remove it. I included the lwp as well that were posted earlier the lwp from it too, they work great on the phone though, I need someone to test it for me, cus swype is a pain to remove w/o wiping, and i already have all this on my phone. you just need to flash it like a rom. It contains 4lwp and 1keyboard app and their libs...dl the new lwp and kb HERE
Any chance of just getting the KB?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Screen shot?
installed and i opens but will not work, as in i can swype but no words show up in the box. oh well
it also installs like 5 live wallpapers
Yeah only regular tap input works.

no time, sorry. you can rip them out and just install though, just make sure you take the lib files that go with them in your libs folder and the apps in your sys/app or data/app folder.

Ill check to see whats up with swype, just figured id throw it out there for those that didnt see this stuff yet....also, did you remove your old swype completely? or did you not have it? cus its VERY hard to get rid of.....just wondering so i can fix if something wrong.

sorry about that, and thanks.ok, soon as i get home ill post a link to a really sweet htc skinned swype mod. i use the red one in my newest rom, but the green one is slick too. im going to hang out for a little bit, when i get back ill put it up, and just take it out of the other one and ill mess with it, since its a full version.....
Let me see if I can accurately decipher this thread:
You saw something you liked, but didn't test it because its too much work to uninstall what you already have but that's ok because you already have it installed so you need someone else to take a blind leap of faith and install something you "gurantee" they'll like but if they don't that's ok too because they can just uninstall it (which really they can't do easily) but if you want to see what it is in the first place tough luck because you're out and about and have no time to post a screenshot for your own quasi-release?
If I were Canadian, I'd add "Eh?" at the end of that.
I strongly recommend that if you want to be taken seriously, you put a little more thought into your release posts. I applaud you for taking the time to share with the community, but frivolous posting of root-level patches without some form of quality control on your part could lead to a dangerous precedent of buggy and/or malicious code being introduced in the same channels.
I know you probably have the communities best interest at heart, but holding yourself to a higher standard keeps the bar high for the rest of those issuing releases to demonstrate an aptitude for solid documentation so people know precisely what to expect from dedicated contributors.
Good Luck!

Do you really think i need YOU or ANYONE else to take ME seriously? my work speaks for itself, i could care less what you think of me, but just dont be disrespectful or snotty about it when you obviously have no clue as to what i do, if you say " which really they can't do easily" when you are speaking about removing a single app.I take it youve never been to dev? cus thats what ive been doing for the past 3 days, is working on my last rom. Then when i finish something that takes more than a day i take a break. I am not a developer nor have i ever claimed to be one.i have many contributions to the site, and taken a **** ton of time making sure my theads for them are maintained and everything i work on i support. Not a blind leap of faith, i have many pps that ASK to test for me because i dont have time to when im working. I have a 8mo old and fiance to take care of as well, this cannot be my ENTIRE life(though i might enjoy that)ive been asked permission to port 4 of my roms to other devices, and about 100 pps i talk to on a regular basis, you can talk to that will tell you another story about what I can DO. ? is what can YOU do? and WHY would you be ragging on someone who makes regular contributions to the site to help members enjoy their newest hardware just a little bit more? you want to see more go to hero-cdma and tell me some more about quality control. Search my name, check out a few of my mod threads both visually and contextually and then read what you just wrote one more time.....by the way, your a very good writer. You should be a reporter for national enquirer if you feel compelled to post again, can you please remain a little more on topic and a little less on me.....thanks
Thanks for this magnusragnarok! Any chance you could try to get an update zip with the t9 ime in the i9000 dump? I'm curious to see how the Sammy virtual keyboard looks. Also, that guy apparently doesn't realize how big of an asset you've been to the hero and evo communities. Keep up the great work!

SERIOUSLY, why whould you make it 2wice as bad by requoting the entire post in ITALICS? GOOD JOB. PLEASE try to remain on topic, this is a thread about a kb and the touch wiz lwp i put together in one update for everyones convenience, not about my choice of font and color. If we were not allowed the choice we would not have it available to us.
If you took a moment to actually absorb what I posted, you would recognize I did not besmirch your contributions, but was offering a point of constructive criticism.
Regardless of the quality or lack thereof of your "releases", your posts are plagued with you getting into flame wars with people because you feel like you have to defend yourself against any form of critique you don't agree with.
But hey, if you have five people who think your work is on par with some of those that I have donated to, by all means cater to that denominator. I'll gladly keep my feedback to myself and save it for someone who can handle dialogue with a little more class.
PS: Geocities is dead. You should let the single-paragraph-don't-have-time-to-run-auto-spellcheck-let's-use-teal-this-time-on-large-comic-sans-font-smash-your-forehead-on-the-keyboard-to-select-punctation diatribes die with it.

All links pulled due to XDA Request after an XDA member complained I was only out for profits to a moderator on a few products I have. Due to the fact I link to my JIG and a few other things in many videos, I was asked to pull any content relating to this.

DG! Question and feel free to say no by all means but maybe I can get your attention with out a PM or post in your ROM thread which I'm sure is hard to ever see for you.
I am adding a download page on my website and wondered if I could also host your ROM's there? I wanted to host lots of things from ROMs, to useful CWM packages to open source apks and others. I completely understand if you do not want me to do that and I wanted to ask before doing so. PM me if you see this...I've pm'd you on the subject once but doubt you saw it as I'm sure your box is through the roof on PM's.

Heh, ya, it gets maxed out every week or so...
That's fine tho.
I have been looking to flash my phone with a ROM but I can never decide which one to go with so at least now I can get some insight into what some of these do and how fast they are.
I will be looking forward to seeing these every week.
Thanks for taking the time and doing the great side by side comparisons. I look forward to checking out your weekly videos!
Nice review. Is the sound quality issue you mention the result of the Captivate having unique hardware in the form of the "Audience" voice-processing chip that the I9000 does not? It's a shame that one would have to give up support of this circuitry for the sake of running a custom ROM.
I remember reading about this a while back but thought it had been sorted out/fixed.
Good review. Liked the comparison.
There are some interesting comments on your perception video about lack of support for the audience processing chip

Yes I agree. I'm not sure if that's the correct reason as the speaker phone function works flawlessly but it's interesting to say the least.

This community has just received a +1 by having you around.
Nice work with the vids and pretty informative for people looking to get details and previews before flashing. I'm just going to go around thanking your posts.
Hopefully people can recognize the amount of time that you're putting into this stuff and be thankful that you have a Captivate in your hand.
Lovin the videos and website. Thank you for the time you are putting into this I think you have something great going here. If you & DG ever decide to get different phones or leave the Galaxy S community I will defiantly follow.
Great videos, but noob question.
How are the roms that different from each other?
Most of them seem to be running similar kernels and you can still flash whichever ones you want for lagfix or OC/UV.
Do they mostly differ in terms of appearance/default apps? How about speed/performance?

Gentlemen,
This OP is located at: http://links.pjr.bz/A2-Roms
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this review, is to match your unique personality, to a unique custom ROM, based on the subjective opinions of others. Hopefully, someone will use a style and set of adjectives, which seems to ring a bell with you. It might inspire you to try the same ROM that they are reviewing, or else warn you about what to look out for when trying it. At the very least, this should prove to be informative to all who read it, and are interested in custom ROMs for the Atrix 2 (A2).
AUTHORS:
The original creators (or current custodians) for each ROM are hereby invited and will be given PRIORITY in providing their own critique. Not only will they likely have the deepest insights and closest attention to the details of the ROM's they have created, but it is always a much softer blow to accept one's own criticisms, rather than the criticisms of others.
NEGATIVE FEEDBACK:
It is hereby strongly suggested that you be brutally honest, and yet, respectful and courteous, to the best of your ability. Tact is in order, and ensure that you list AT LEAST one positive statement for each and every negative statement you make about a ROM. If you have IDEAS for improvement, those are far more valuable than mere complaints, particularly if your suggested solution is (a) reasonably doable (b) practical (c) not too difficult (d) free or nearly free. We all understand that no one is perfect here, and we want to be humble and mature enough to accept feedback with grace and poise.
INITIAL PRAISE/CREDITS:
I have consulted with the original authors of the 2 former OP's, which have some overlap with this one, but which are now either outdated, or which were less comprehensive in coverage. I have their permission to quote them (and will give them credit, of course, for each quote), and their blessing to attempt to proceed with this rather large undertaking.
Thus, I would like to begin by giving a hearty frothing beer cheer, to:
Luke "lkrasner", for his OP: ROM Reviews AND MIRRORS
and also
Rich "916x10", for his OP: Atrix 2 ROM reviews
It is so very often, the hard work, and even greater courage required to be the FIRST to post some idea of your own, that snowballs into the eventual community effort (such as this post), which then benefits us all. To these pioneers, we all owe a huge debt of gratitude (or at least, a couple hits on the ol' "Thanks" button, for their OP! ;-)

I started a review project at one point. I kind of died, as I got really busy, but feel free to take a look anyways. versions are probably old though

Hey lkrasner,
Thank you for the link and the reminder about you OP. I actually did remember reading your post some time back, and appreciated it as well. However, your project seems to be more focused on providing info about the ROMs rather than comparative and subjective evaluations and ratings.
I didn't read through ALL the pages of it yet (I'm at a swim meet grilling right now) but I also want the nutshell gold to be "right in front of your eyes" by updating the OP as info comes, so that readers don't have to sift useless dialog to finally locate the full info/scoop on what they are trying to find.
I'll defer to your advise though (or perhaps anyone else who wishes to weigh in here on this), and let you decide if I should merely delete or abandon this new thread so that you can update your OP (perhaps with the kind of PROS & CONS and ratings I have suggested?) or if you think my effort in providing rating and anecdotes about how it works for those who have used these ROMs, is worth attempting to continue as I had planned?
Best regards,
Paul

You should definitely continue. I would be happy to write up some more for scv6 which I am on now and lithium (I used 1.2 and 1.2.1 since they came out, but not 1.3 yet) I admit I did not read your whole post really either, but I saw the topic was similar, so I put up the link. Feel free to use anything I have there, but it is mostly outdated, so I'm not sure it is much use.
I did try to keep somewhat away from strictly rating the roms because so much is personal preference. I love SCV6, but I am not a huge fan of romulus. that is not because it is bad, I actually think it is fantastic, but I just am not as much of a fan of the more stock look.
You are a much better writer than me, and can probably do this better, so If I were you I would start by reviewing the roms you have used a lot (If any), then try some others for a while and ask for other peoples reviews, which you can tweak. Just don't wait to long, then give up like I did.
If I believe anything here, it is that work is public, if you post it, you should expect that it will get reused in any way, whether you say it can be or not, therefore I try to allow it as much as possible. I would keep this same thread going and start putting some stuff up.
Good luck!!

EDIT: 2 things I thought of,
1. please hit edit on the OP and copy that text into a .txt file so that we can use the format (then attach it or upload with a link.)
2. maybe create a poll with simply "what is the best rom" just because that could be interesting.
