[Q] please tell me i didn't just brick my sensation - HTC Sensation

alright.. i was having trouble with my phone (random reboots, google apps wouldn't sync, couldn't install updates or new apps from the mkt (said "insufficient storage avail))
called TMo, they couldn't help - they forwarded me to HTC, they wanted to do a factory reset
i'm thinking, if i'm gonna have to reinstall all my apps and go through ALL that... i might as well go whole hog and just root my phone
so i rooted it - got cyanogen7 and everything (really liked it btw - when i get this whole thing sorted out i will *def* be rooting it and putting CM7 on it!)
and it STILL wouldn't sync or let me d/l apps! anyone wanna guess why?
"insufficient storage available"
at this point i'm thinking its gotta be bad RAM in the phone - so, i gotta take it back
oops! its rooted!
okay, so how do i UNroot it?
well, i remember i had done a bkp of the entire system in the rooting process - so from CWM/revolutionary i restored the system, then i restored boot
now.... all it will do is cycle from the pink letters swirling around ("stick together" or whatever) to the white HTC screen ("quietly brilliant")
i notice its still in the S-OFF condition
now, i've got the latest RUU downloaded and the SDK installed - but, i connect the phone to my computer via USB it doesn't "connect" (i don't see it appear in MyComputer) - so....... the SDK isn't going to be able to install the RUU
right??
lil help?
what do i do next??

Try doing a factory reset (at your own risk)
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA

okay - from that boot menu (press vol down key, press power), select factory reset
that takes me to revolutionary - select wipedata/factory reset...
rebooted - htc, htc quietly brilliant, stick together.......... i heard it connect on USB!
and i'm getting the initial sense UI screen! nice!!
i think i'm outta the woods!

Boot phone into fastboot, connect to PC, run RUU - job done

thanks it works..

[Q] Stock Nexus S Stuck On Boot Animation

I just installed the weathernetwork weather app and it froze my phone. Upon rebooting I get stuck with the boot animation playing continuosly.
Is there any way to get my phone working again without having to do a total wipe?
My Nexus S is stock. I'm also a total android noob, so please try to give step by step instructions if possible.
Thanks
Update: I tried doing a wipe and factory restore through the recovery menu. Phone is still stuck at the rainbow x boot animation. Could this problem be caused by the 2.3.4 OTA I ran a few days ago? Also is there anything I can do or should I submit the phone under warranty?
Thanks again in advance
I forgot to post the first time that I have the 9020A version of the phone, just incase that helps anyone.
Thanks
You could try booting to recovery (when the phone is off, hold down the volume-up button and press and hold power until it starts) to see if you can do anything useful. Another option is to install the Android SDK and platform tools and Google USB drivers on your computer and use the adb ("android debug bridge") command from a console on your computer to try uninstalling the offending app.
Also, bear in mind that, assuming you've set your phone to sync to Google, you may not lose much by wiping it and starting over - in which case I recommend rooting it and installing a 3rd party recovery and custom ROM. Doing so won't lose things like pictures and music on the SD card part of the phone's memory. And the Android Market remembers your apps, both purchased and freebie.

[Q] Desire S - Market suicide

Hi guys.
After two weeks without wifi, yesterday, my phone decide to update about 20 apps from market. When Beautiful Widgets were downloading, phone suddenly froze and I had to remove my battery after 10 minutes. When it booted again, Angry Birds started to update and phone froze again. So I removed my battery once again and when it booted up, I turned my net connection offline to prevent downloading. As soon as I did so, I canceled all market downloads and turned connection online again. Market started updating on its own and phone froze during night.
So I decided to removed battery once again this morning and when I put it back in, put it back in, phone froze after "Quietly Brilliant" logo with black screen.
It was suitable for factory reset from bootloader. So I did factory reset and same story repeated, except for this, it was a loading loop, HTC Quietly Brilliant and sound which comes with it over and over again.
So in the end, I tried to do the "recovery" option which did no good and again factory reset, but this time, bootloader froze and nothing happened. This is final state of my phone.
So after boring story, there is a question. Is there any way I can do software flash / reset without phone (via USB etc?) before I send it back to HTC for repair?
Device is S ON and never been rooted. I also removed SIM and memory card with no effect.
Thanks a lot!
You should take hope from the fact that you are able to still enter bootloader and perform full reset
Also the fact that you are still s-on means that you should still be covered under warranty
I believe that you should be able to re flash your original rom via your pc using RUU, check to see if your original is in the rom sticky thread within the dev section and if so start downloading
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Premium App
You may well have a hardware problem, in which case I would advise you send it for repair rather than trying to root and invalidating your warranty.
Hey, thx for reply.
I have no experiences in this but I guess I only need to know this things:
RUU - Stands for ROM Upgrade Utility. What soft should I use?
Also, all I can see in bootloader is following:
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.98.0000
RADIO-38.03.02.11_M
eMMC-boot
Mar 10 2011,14:58:38 (<wtf?)
and then just classic boot menu with options like FASTBOOT etc.
Therefore I cant figure out, which ROM is mine in that thread. Also, is there any option to flash ROM from memory card? Does it have to be signed?
Only limitation is warranty which I dont wanna lose. Thx.

See the statement above, I will not do anything to invalidate the warranty.
Yesterday, after attempting the "Update all" for the first time (well, not exactly) the phone froze just as yours did & started encountering the same issues. After coming here to seek assistance, this thread was the first I laid eyes upon.
My case in somewhat more detail, after freezing during the "Update all", I performed a soft reset by removing the battery as well, booted up fine, but as soon as everything was loaded the market tried to continue where it left off (which is updating Opera Mobile @ 98%) and the result was another freeze. I was quickly able to deduct that the update were to be the issue & turned off connectivity. Now, at the present state, Opera Mobile update is still under notifications (at 98% complete but "paused"), as soon as I re-enable either WiFi or 3G it continues & crashes. I cleared all caches & reset all Market applications & rebooted to no avail.
Hard reset was next on my list, but see-ing how the situation got worse for your device hereafter, I am holding it off for now. Is it possible to have market updates, that are ongoing, canceled? Bear in mind that I cant enter Market since it requires connectivity.
Weird stuff.
Yes, when your phone is turned on (connection on), open your Market app, press menu button and select "My apps". You should see all downloading apps now. Hold your finger on each and wait until menu pops up. Select cancel download. You have to be quick tho.
If I were you, I would not do any software reset, my phone is pretty much bricked now, as it freezes on nearly every bootloader option.

Thanks! That did the trick, was able to remove everything due to be updated.
Strangely, though, I wasn't able to finish loading the market before it resumed the Opera update. This time, however, instead of crashing it was able to complete it (contrary to the last 10+ attempts yesterday), thus there is a chance it wouldn't have crashed at all. In any case, keeping distance from the Market seems like a valid idea for now.
Reading your thread might've helped to avoid my device turning into a brick, I appreciate it.
Well, update to my current status:
Im still in hboot. Device was recognized as "Android 1.0" in my Windows, so I had to install ADB driver. It is now connected as Android Composite ADB Interface".
I can't get any further, since RUU says my phone is not connected to PC.
Any advices please?
PS: When I choose "Recovery" in hboot, it shows HTC logo for a while, then icon of mobile phone with green sign shows and after few secs, screen turns off and phone vibrate for a few times and disconnects from PC.
//When I connect it in Fastboot, it shows as "MyHTC" in Windows.

Np, thx for trying, maybe someone else will know

As you've never been rooted or S-off, and the phone has developed its own fault. I'd return it!
Well, so far, no luck. RUU stuck at "Rebooting to bootloader" and phone is frozen.

Ok, update about my phone so far:
RUU was not sucessful, for some reason there's still freeze in certain HBOOT actions, like when I select "Factory reset" or when RUU is trying to get phone from fastboot to bootloader.
So I extracted rom.zip from my RUU and now I'm backing up my memory card using my old phone. I'm willing to rename it to update.zip and try to flash it.
Any advices about this?

Update.zip will not work, if your determined to try something push a new SPL via fastboot commander, even thought your not S-off if things aren't working maybe the CID check wont check either.
Below will only work if your phone is not branded or you have a goldcard.
Alternatively unzip your RUU on your PC in one of the files called {squigly brackets and a lot of numbers673652435364849483763} you'll find a .zip called rom.zip rename this PB99IMG and put the file into the root directory of your SD card, and boot into Hboot. Just answer yes to any questions. This is the way HTC Tech folk themselves serve an RUU.
Yea, I actually extracted it using advanced system monitor from microsoft, this file was in temp folder. That's where my rom.zip was. Anyway, isn't it PB88IMG.zip? I think DS is checking for this one. Thx.
//Edit: I mean PB88IMG.img
//Edit2: It's PG88IMG.zip It's now updating, don't know if it works yet, still at BOOTLOADER update with status "Updating".
Ok, I think this is my last post, since I no longer know what else to do. When Im trying to flash PG88IMG, it stops at [1]BOOTLOADER - Updating.
For more than one hour. There's something wrong with it and I will claim my warranty, which will be funny, since Im in Slovakia, phone was bought from Amazon with 3 year warranty from SquareTrade and they claim, they may just return money in some cases, which will result in buying a new phone = more than 2 weeks...

O, bugger!
question is if they do give you the money, will you buy another DS? and if not what would you consider instead? Sensation?
Yea, can't say yet, since I don't know. I just discovered, there may be a chance they will cover my repair costs when I email them all the service documentation from service center.
But if they do, I'd like to stay with HTC, I paid something about 377L for the phone, so I may buy something better now.
Anyway, thanks a lot for help guys, if you come with some new ideas about how to fix it, do not hesitate to tell me I'll be sending it to them first thing tommorow.

[Q] Unable to factory reset

Yesterday my phone started acting up. All running process crashed and not many was able to start. I had to constantly click "force close". I think this started after I installed the Google+ app, but not sure.
I have tried uninstalling all unnecessary apps, without luck. I then tried wiping to factory settings by using the Android menu, but without any changing. I then tried by holding vol+ and power, going in to recovery and wiping both to factory and app cache. This doesn't change anything either. By googling I can see some suggests to hold vol- and power, to get to a another wiping-functionality but this just boots my Nexus S to normal state - no menu appears.
Has anybody an idea of what I can do?
Edit: more info; if I click "Report" and investigate the message sent to Google, I see that error has something to do with SQLite-relatet classes. Which makes some sense, alot of my changes are reset each time the phone is rebooted. For instance did I miss a call a couple of hours before the phone went crazy - this is shown at each boot in the notification area eventhough I clear the area and/or goes to missed call section
Factory reset via menu does delete all your "custom" apps, so I'd say it's not one of the existing apps causing problems.
The way you describe function after your factory reset sounds like factory reset didn't work properly.
If you feel safe I'd recommend rather flashing 2.3.4 again using either Odin or the OTA zip from Google (requires open bootloader).
I think you're right that factory reset doesn't do what is expected. Once I click it, the phone reboots and shows the Android guy next to an unwrapping package. This lasts only 2 seconds, then it reboots itself again and goes into normal phone mode (where all the app-crashing starts again).
I have not flashed or rooted my phone before, but I will consider this now since my NS is pretty much a brick. Thank you for your swiftly response.
Edit: Shouldn't I get a menu, when I push and hold vol- button, while turning on the device? Right now it just boot as normal.
Before you use odin....try going into rom manager a reflashing clockwork! Ive had that android dude on my screeen but reflashibg via rom manager always fixed it. Try that
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Wow my Nexus has totally shut me out.
I cannot use ClockworkMod unfortunately since I am not able to root my phone. It is not detectable via USA (when I use vol+/pwr and connect USB). I am unable to check the USB Debugging option on the phone. Each time I check it, go to home-screen and back to the menu, it has de-selected it again. Also I noticed when I read the info that is sent to Google for all those app-crashes I get, I see SQLiteException and error in an SQLite.java file. So it seems like some database layer is broken.
I read one could copy the ClockWork.img to my phone and use the standard recovery option to flash the img (I think). But when I go into the recovery menu, the file is gone. When I boot the phone again, it has deleted the .img file - eventhough if I copy it to several different folders, they are all gone :-(.
I feel pretty screwed at the moment. How can I else wipe all data?
I'd recommend to check if your device is correctly identified in windows. Missing USB drivers might cause problems. Get the latest drivers and a guide from here.
If you succeed booting into fastboot properly (vol up and power) you can follow this guide. Get the latest cwm recovery.img here.
Last option would be to boot into download mode (vol up + vol down + power + plugging in usb cable) and use Odin from samfirmware.com
--
All options require correctly working USB drivers.
I managed to unlock the bootloader, by quickly turning on USB-debugging (before any processes started to crash) and install the drivers from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6819751&postcount=4
A reboot later, I got this message:
"System UIDs Inconsistent
UIDs on the system are inconsistent, you need to wipe your data partition or your device will be unstable."
Right below was a button saying "Im feeling lucky" (??)
I installed ClockworkMod using fastboot and tried "Fixing permissions" with no luck. I will try some ROM later on, and hope it will bring my phone back
Normally this error happens when you have a faulty app ruining your system, formating/deleting whole sdcard does usually fix this.

See I'm no expert on this whole thing. At this point I'd just flash a whole new system via Odin. Prolly not the smartest or safest option, but that's what I'd do because I don't know better. If that wouldn't fix it either, I'd return the phone on warranty
I was looking at Odin from the start, since nothing else seemed to be working.
So right now I got started on Odin. Followed the .pdf steps and flashed the bootloader at first succesfully. I was asked to remove the battery and re-connect my NS. Began downloading "pda" and "phone", but at around 10% a big fat red "fail" message appeared and now I just see the Google-logo on startup. I still cant flash any roms via fastboot.
Im too tired too right now, been working with this for 14 hours straight. I will look at it tomorrow evening. Thanks for your help rentaric
Weird, you're not the first one who had trouble running Odin using their guide.
Overall it's pretty simple.
Enter download mode. Vol up vol down and power at the same time while plugging in the USB cable. Start Odin, should show a yellow colored box with a port number. Uncheck everything but reset timer and auto reboot. Unzip the correct zip file from samfirmware.com (check if you got i9020 or i9023 and get the universal Odin exe), apply file from the folder accordingly. Bootloader and bootloader. Phone and modem. Pda and pda. Csc can remain empty (will change carrier info in fastboot).
Double check md5 hash to avoid broken files.

Of course I did not go to bed, how should I be able to sleep with a broken phone .
The firmware suggested on samfirmware.com for my phone, was 2.3.3 and some other version (my phone was 2.3.4.2/GRJ22 or something similar, I suspect that might be the cause. Also I unchecked everything, that might also have been of importance). The flash will always fail when everything was downloaded - it then said something about "remote" and "Loke" and then fail. But as I mentioned, I had succesfully flashed boot.img (2.3.3) thus no boot occured now. I googled the correct bootloader, used fastboot and was booting succesfully again.
I began looking more into the sdcard, as error-messages was leading me this way. To compress 4 hours of investigations into a few lines, it seems as my PBA is malfunctioning as other xda-members have experinced. Only solution is sending the phone to Samsung for a PBA replacement. I purchased the phone in Bestbuy USA and the danish Samsung partners are not too joyfull about this - I will contact Samsung and hope they can help me.
I experinced the exact same thing as this poor guy - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=993403
Every thing you try to do to /sdcard is worthless.
Formatting (USB/using CWM/using adb shell linux commands) says "Succes" but nothing happens.
Copying files says "Succes" but nothing happens. If I boot phone into CWM, mount usb and upload new rom/apk/whatever and try to do a "install update.zip" it fails with some mounting errors.
Im ready to go cry in a corner - I really want this to be fixable via software, but I probably have to realize that this is a hardware issue.
Apparently Samsung doesn't offer worldwide warranty for cellularphones :´(. God it sucks to pay repair-expenses on a 1 month old mobile.

[Q] HTC One S Terrible bootloop/soft brick on TrickDroid ,cant find solution

Ok guys, new to the forums but this problem has had me fully occupied for the last 6 hours and I feel like I have tried everything. I had cm9 alpha 12, and went to flash TrickDroid v5.0, something happened and I'm currently stuck in some wierd bootloop/soft brick. I had access to CWM but my SD card wouldn't mount and my adb push attempts didn't do anything, for reasons I don't know why. My phone would start up into the wierd trickdroid bootup and last for like 30 minutes. I tried the solution of another thread on how to fix a bootloop/ softbrick, but now I dont have any CWM access and I can only access the bootloader or the endless bootup screen. I tried using the all in one tool to flash the CWM again but it just restarts it and puts it back into the bootup, and when i restart to go to bootloader to acess the recovery, it goes back to bootup. Every solution I try makes my problem worse, and to top it off I cant turn my phone off and keep it off because it will just start back up. Thanks.
Edit: Problem fixed. Downloaded the original all in 1 tool for htc one s, plugged phone into comp went to fastboot and with the tool flashed the phones stock recovery. I reset to factory defaults and cleared storage with it from the bootloader. After that, I flashed clockwork mod recovery again and my SD card was able to be mounted and accepted files from my adb push, and I reflashed cyanogenmod. Wuzzah!

lol, meant to "quote" not "thanks".
Can you fastboot a new recovery?
Did you do a full wipe coming from CM9 to TrickDroid
Well I can't access the phone from usb on my computer (still takes charge though), so I don't think I can flash a recovery thru fastboot (I'm not too experienced though). From cm9, I wiped all and flashed trickdroid + tweak set, then it just stat their at home screen. CMW being lost occurred later.
Im in the same situation rght now. I have trickdroid and I went into my tweaks to set them back to their original setup...so removing all of the options I chose before when I used the tweaks for the first time. When I rebooted my phone it just hangs on the HTC screen. I can get into recovery and I tried reinstalling trickdroid but its still getting stuck. Not sure what to do at this point. I don't think I can put a recovery file on this since I can't connect it to my computer.
Hopefully someone can help us.
But the thing is I can't access recovery. I try to flash it again with the all in 1 tool and it won't work. It says it went through, but accessing it doesn't work.
If its recognised by USB when plugged in computer just run an ruu that's my solution all The time lol

htc one s stuck in bootloop almost unresponsive
hey guys, got a brain teaser for you.
i have a tmobile htc one s, unlocked, rooted using all in one htc tool, been at it for two days now. im stuck on the boot screen showing its unlocked, i used to be able to get into the boot loader screen but now it seems ive dead ended. ill hold any combination of power and vol up/down, the keys flash for 10 sec and the screen flashes once, i let go and it reboots, keeps that htc screen, after 20-30 sec goes black. my pc doings like it detects a device but i cant locate it. ive used adb and the htc all in one unlock tool trying to get any kind of os to launch.
Shortly before this i was able to go into the boot loader, clear and master reset the files and cache, and search for the rom zip, thus never allowing me to flash. on a journey to place this in the phone through various combinations of the all in one, adb push, and everything else i found on youtube, countless forum posts, i seem to be in a deeper hole now.
I ultimately want to end with a cm10 nightly on my tmo htc one s. I have never done this to a phone without a sd card. i come to this community humbly seeking any and all advice. thank you.

[Q] fixable or done for

Let me start by saying this, yes its rooted w/ cyangenmod 7.1 and I don't care if I get back to factory settings.
Ok so I bought my 2nd inspire from a guy at work for 60 with the cyangenmod 7.1 on it. Brought it home then 3 days later it reset it self and lost all access to google play and I can not add my account. So I went into hboot / recovery and tried to reinstall the Rom but didn't work because it went to the first HTC screen and browns out to black, reset again and worked (ie phone text and web) with no access to Rom manager (forse close) then I hbooted it and factory reset it now it browns out resets and gets stuck on the HTC screen.
Oh it won't connect to a pc or my PS3 and does not have the menu to do so.
What can I do if anything?
Again rooted or not I don't care my old phone is falling apart and I don't want to upgrade yet.
I need to know if you have a custom recovery, superuser installed, and a unlocked bootloader?
< Coming to you live from the planet One X >
Yes to all but it will not allow me to get into the custom recovery. Now it just sits at the HTC screen.
Clockwork recovery, Rom manager and something else I cant remember
S-off unlocked but no access to anything. Sd card is wiped so all recoverys and roms are gone
Will it let you fastboot flash?
< Coming to you live from the planet One X >
I have no idea what that is?
My fastboot says:
Bootloader
Recovery
Reboot hboot
Power off
All of witch send it to the HTC screen and stays there
Go to fast boot and plug on ur usb cable connected to ur computer. Does it say fastboot usb in red when connected?
< Coming to you live from the planet One X >
Sorry for the delay I'm working 12hr shifts right now.
My computer does not recognise the phone nor my unrooted inspire. Computer says unknown device detected.
So in ur bootloader u don't see usb next to fast boot?
< Coming to you live from the planet One X >
No
