I am running CWM 2.5.1.2 the green version and I have tried to update and install things from my internal SD and it shows the startup of the process and stops. It doesn't complete its just the frozen CWM screen. I have to use the three finger combo then reboot to get the frozen screen off. Any ideas of whats wrong/what I should do?

ENTROPY'S DAILY DRIVER!!!!!!!! IT'S MY FAVORITEST. If you could POSSIBLY find OC needed with these SMOOTH roms, then you should go with bewda's kernel. Pick a core. But for me, even Underclocking to 800 and still little to no lagging.

Hm. That sucks. Have you tried Zeus 6 or R3VELATION? Those are updated. Maybe you will find less errors with them.
it wouldn't matter CWM recovery freezes for everything i try with the exception of rebooting. Help me?

Hey,
I'm new to Android, and still pretty bad with it, so when I set out to flash a custom rom last week, I never bothered to setup a backup. I didn't think it was going to be as complicated to get back to the way it was when I took it out of the box. I guess I'm still use to the iPhone. Now, I'm not completely happy with my phone and am looking to go back to stock.
I've looked in to it, and it seems easy enough, but I just have a couple of questions:
Pre-CM7 I'm pretty sure my phone was GRI54, and i9020, It's now GRI40. Does this make any difference?
And, finally, where can I download an official version of this?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks.

Sorry, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I've tried using that zip a few times (286d814dee5b.signed-sojua-GRJ22-from-GRI54.286d814d.zip 12mb) and it says install failed.
I boot into recovery, factory reset, wipe cache, install zip from sd card, pick the file, agree.

Sorry? I have to delete the files to keep clockwork from being removed?
All I did was flash it, restart, and clockwork was still there.
Also, my phone's internet speeds seem really slow now. Could this be from now having a different build? (GRI54 -> GRJ22)
Sorry for my complete lack of knowledge. It's quite obvious I jumped into something that's much over my head.

I've never used it myself.
Looking over the zip file, the script has been renamed, so it's not 100% stock.
Normally you would need to root the phone to change the file name.
Perhaps renaming the file in the zip will correct the issue?
try renaming /etc/install-recovery.sh.bak to /etc/install-recovery.sh and re-apply the zip. ( no need to wipe )
That rom was posted by dsixda, he may be able to confirm what needs to be done.
If you had root, it would be fairly easy to rename it.

This should work:
http://android.grdlock.net/index.ph... S&PHPSESSID=9dc0c107b878587d1e0b21ec1e3130ef
This should bring you to stock 2.3.3 for the i9020a
Then apply the official patch:

This will then bring everything to stock 2.3.4 with proper baseband and recovery

Installing Clockworkmod Recovery DOES NOT root your ROM. When you are in Clockworkmod Recovery it is running as root. But if you want your stock ROM rooted you need to flash my root zip in Clockworkmod Recovery. My root zip roots your phone by installing "superuser.apk" and "su" and setting the appropriate permissions. The link is in my signature to my rooting thread.
Thank you!
Cool. I got it.. Thank you
Hehe. It took me like 2 hours to flash cwm since i thought i had to get to the "software upgrade" screen before i could press flash. I gave it a shot in the end and hoped for the best. And bam. It worked.

You need to use the NVFlash (search for it) method and install CWM Recovery to the physical recovery partition on the device. The method you used fake flashes recovery and you can not boot into recovery by pressing keys.

No, that method is dangerous and if you do the command line wrong you can brick your phone. Look for the "One Click Recovery Flasher" in the development section for the G2X on this forum. It automates the process and makes it much safer to flash.

do you have driver loaded on your pc?, There are drivers for Infuse on the super infuse page, see my links...

Odin and heimdall uses different device recognition drivers.
I've not used Odin for over 9 months so I can't offer advice there. Jscott30 has more experience with Odin.
If you want, you can restore your phone using the heimdall 1 click uclb3 I put together.
Flash in download mode. It will restore your phone if used correctly.
If you want to try, before flashing anything else, try first booting into recovery using the three finger techniques into cwm and flash aeon or another MUF.
Recovery may still work.

One thing you should take away from this experience is to make sure you do a NANDROID BACKUP before flashing ANYTHING in CWM.
Learn how to get into CWM using the 3-finger method, too. It can come in handy.
Yes, a bit of a stupid question. How can I check if I have CWM installed? I'm trying to flash the debloater using Jul's wonderful flashign tutorial. I know my phone is rooted, but I am not sure I have CWM installed, because in the tutorial is says this:
To flash a kernel or modem follow these steps:
Boot into CWM and select the "Wipe cache partition" option, navigate through the "no" options until you hit the "Yes" and select it.
Then go to the Advanced menu and select "Wipe Dalvik Cache", once again, navigate through the "No" options, select yes, and let it do it's thing.

I have none of the shown options. My screen has blue text, and only four options. I don't want to risk harming my phone by flashing a different ROM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reboot to recovery and see what the screen says. If you are running CWM, it should say "ClockworkMod" or "CWM" and a version number near the top, or something pretty close to that.

You don't have CWM. That's the Samsung stock recovery. Download the Basic with a Twist kernel and flash it using the instructions from the wiki to get CWM.
Note that flashing a kernel on its own will not wipe your data, but once you flash a custom ROM you most likely will need to.
If all you want is to flash the debloater, then flash one of the heimdall one click kernels. Dont flash mine tho use just Antonx's kernel.

Flashing a ROM is most commonly done through CWM recovery, so you would need to flash a kernel loaded with CWM. However, flashing a new ROM deletes all user data; and you must be EXTREMELY careful, especially if you don't know much to begin with. I would either follow a guide to the T and/or read up a lot more on the ins and outs of flashing before you change anything with your phone.
Before you go any further with flashing a ROM, I'd strongly recommend downloading at least the "free" version of Titanium Backup from the market, if not the paid version. Once you have root access, you'll find it a good backup tool when you get to flashing ROMs.
As mentioned above, if you are just flashing a kernel you generally won't lose data, but backups are wonderful things.
I'd also read up on CWM/TWRP/nandroid backups before flashing more than just a kernel.
You might want to consider moving to one of the "ICS" ROMs once you are comfortable with flashing ROMs in general. The data upgrade is a little more involved (generally you can't just "restore" system-app data from one major release to another), but the usability and stability of the ICS ROM I use is, in my opinion, much better than the best of the GB ROMs that were produced.

Unfortunately, yes it will. Do you have a backup of your original kernel? If you do, you can just flash that, that shouldn't delete any files if you only flash the kernel.

Are you on Froyo or Gingerbread? It sounds like you might still be on Froyo; both the debloater and the custom kernel you're trying to install are designed for Gingerbread.
So yeah, Heimdall One-Click time. Make sure you flash bootloaders, you'll need them if you're coming from Froyo. This'll definitely delete your apps and contacts, but if you had your contacts synced with T-Mobile or Google, then they'll come back. Hopefully the backup you made was with Titanium Backup so you can get your apps back
Best of luck to you!
Please if you are going to give instructions atleast try to give proper ones.
You need to flash bootloaders with one of the heimdall one clicks. You will flash once, when it is done and starts to boot pull the battery and cable. Put the phone back in download mode and check the flash bootloaders box in heimdall one click.

I'm not sure what's causing your specific issue, but after going back to stock with Odin I follow the following instructions:
To add CWM recovery to the rooted version, download a custom Gingerbread kernel from HERE or HERE and flash the zImage using SGS Kernel Flasher (found in the Play Store) on the phone. If you go this route for root and CWM, your Custom Binary Download counter will not show any custom binary activity.

You can download the SGS Kernel .apk from this post so you don't have to log into the Play Store. When you flash the zImage, it will hang on the Samsung logo for a bit while it reparations and installs the kernel. 1.2 GHz is stock by the way.
I have nothing against Rom Manager but I stopped using it after experiencing some issues.
