Let HTC know how you feel - General Topics

HTC recently announced that the new One X will not have a sd card slot, will only have 16 GB of memory on ATT, and be a unibody phone (no extended battery). To me this is the polar opposite of their stated intentions of making this a "flagship" phone. I have emailed HTC regarding these issues and they have asked for more input from me regarding these issues. I am hoping we can get more people to voice their opinion to them and let them know we are not happy one bit. I have been a long term proponent of HTC, owning a Wizard, Kaiser, Rhodium, Ace, and Raider. If I wanted less choices I would buy an idrone. Please fix this huge mistake HTC!

I want the HTC One X on T-mobile. I wish it would of had a micro SD card slot, and removable battery but I love this phone hopefully it lands on tmo. I love sense 4, and that new beats integration is going to be awesome.

With all the problems I see posted about problems with SD cards, I can see why they would want to move this way, not that they should.

I guess it comes down to trying to keep the aesthetics of the phone as up to date as possible without losing too many features.
I'd be surprised if the S3 isn't unibody.

well, i already ordered my One X.
i finally need a new phone..
but srsly, the One X IS a flagship device. they promised us quality, they brought us quality.
all three One devices are pure quality, beautiful and strong.
but sure, i don't get the point why there is no exchangable battery or a SDCard slot.
i need those things.. even with 32gb internal memory, i need my SDCard. it's just more versatile.
and i NEED a second battery to be sure to get through the whole weekend without having to recharge
things just stop to be versatile. i don't like this..
but i'll try it, i want to give HTC a chance, they deserved it.

Exactly. If they don't produce a device I want they don't get my money its that simple.
Companies are always looking to charge more and give less, Just look at Apple. If you are loyal to one brand especially a brand that begins screwing you over you are driving a nail into the coffin of choice.
Say no to iclones.

im seriously thinking of abandoning htc.. they are getting worse day by day. first their stupid security measures on their phones in a ridiculous level(heck even the bootloader and radio are fu(ked up) and now this? they must be joking... i miss the good old htc...

I don't understand how they get people to buy devices with built in memory. Its more of a pain to backup your stuff. With a sdcard you can choose your memory size and always know your stuff is there and safe. Like the Sensation XL. Super cool phone. Lack of memory. Now if it was 16GB and a sdcard slot that would be nice. But now its more about the money then getting quallity

I don't think it will matter in a few years, when we've all got faster data connections and nnGB of cloud storage, and I guess that's what they're thinking of. Saying that though, I wouldn't buy a device that didn't have an external SD card. I'm narked enough that I can't hot-swap with the S2, but I can just about live with that.

the memory is not enough to play HD games
too bad no sd support

I really, really wanted the new HTC One X because of it's Tegra3 chip, its look and feel.
But no S-OFF, no extra battery, no SD-card? What? Why?

Well anyone that has plays gameloft might as well not buy these phones. Most gameloft games have to download 100-500 mb of data add that with music other apps. You basically have no room left on your phone.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium

i don't really mind not having an micro sd slot with todays internet speeds everything is going towards HD as well as virtual storage.

unibody? no SD card? to me it sounds like there trying to copy the Iphone...but why, everyone knows that the common cell phone user does not know how to actually work their phone. when it locks up you pull the battery, that if its a android phone. idk about this one.....

I think the only real mess of Galaxy Tab is the lack of SD slot...

New phone HTC or Samsung?

Please help I'm jet another one due an upgrade can't decide what to get my mind is set on either the Samsung galaxy s2 or the HTC Sensation. I know the the Samsung is a better phone spec wise but I love the HTC set up and build quality and currently have the the new sense 3 rom on my desire and do love it along with HTC widgets. The thing I do hate is the small amount of storage the sensation offers compared to the sgs2 please help me decide.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I'd stick HTC. You'd probably get better performance out of a Sensation compared to the Samsung anyways. Rooted or not
HTC of course and then enjoy it on the wonderful XDA forum!
I really want the HTC but not sure 1GB is enough space don't want to have to keep uninstalling apps cuz the memory is full this is my only worry.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Check this active thread for a lot of scoop comparing them here
Rooted phones can move most apps to the SD card. 1GB should be more than enough internal space.
Besides, you can always try one for a few days and if you don't like it you can get the other one.
like Sumsung.
HTC, my first smart phone, give up for battery issues
Having been lucky to be able to use the HTC Sensation and the Samsung Galaxy S II
Mind you this is my own personal choice on the matter not related to any reviews being currently done.
HTC Sensation has a nicer and flowing concept feels more natural to hold and use. The mechanics of, and I agree is not on the same specs level as the GS2, but definitely well worth it.
Like most have said if you do root your phone you can easily move most of your apps to your SD. With an SD of 32gb you won't have to worry about carrying to many apps.
I on the other end tend to carry only the required apps and off time RPG's I play from Gameloft.
Either phone right now are a great buy but I'd stick with the HTC Sensation.
Cheers mate.
Galaxy S2 for me it is a no brainer. I just wish I was up for a new phone in July when it is coming
Definitely the HTC, it's just better quality and there is so much you can do to enhance the phone from rooting to flashing new roms, that storage will be the least of your worries.
With the newer HTC phones you do not need to be rooted to move your apps to the SD Card. HTC vs Samsung should not even be a comparison. HTC all day!
This is not based on a comparison but I am really liking the speed, screen and camera (1080p recording!) of my SGS II.
For me it's the king of smartphones.
SGSII is the fastest/best smartphone in the world right now, hands down.
Its not even a competition.
Thanks for all your thoughts most have given me the answer I wanted the HTC but after some serious thought I'm am still being pulled towards the SGS2. I once was a big believer that when you buy a phone you you should just be able to use it and not have to mod it for it to be useable. After having 2 HTC's the hero and the desire and their customer support not great (how long should you really have to wait for an update) I can see the same thing is going to happen with the sensation. I had to root both of them just to get the latest updates and now I am rather into the whole tinkering thing and as it stands the HTC is not rootable ( I know its coming BUT WHEN HTC) and the Samsung is ( VERY EASILY). So with much regret I'm going to say good bye to HTC and the much loved sense3.0 at lest for my 2 week trial. And if I learn to love it then hate it, it will only be for 18 months until my next renewal.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Of course HTC.
Now days such hardware like S2 isn't support by software yet.
S2 is faster, and so.....? S2 is not that UI friendly as HTC.
So I prefer HTC!
You all preffer phone you would like. But it really depends on what you want to use your phone. Productivity ? Gaming ? And now you know what you want...
Productivity > HTC
Gaming > SGS2
We dont even need to talk about it, I think gaming on HTC Sensation really Suck i had it in my hands and like me O2X still more. But i would preffer SGS2 bcuz i play Dungeon Deffenders, And every new level its more laggy So i need something really strong. But both are.. You must Choose Productivity<Gaming or Productivity>Gaming
Thanks that sums it up even more I want the ability to play more games.

upgrade Inspire, Root or ??

well, ive had so many issues with my Inspire, they are giving me free upgrade on my contract now, so i can choose the ATT phone of my choice.
Mainly due to overheating, battery life of 2 hours, and i've had 2 of these, and had continuous issues....roximity sensor makes cheek hang up on all calls etc.....
Long list...
I've rooted my Nook Color with CM7, and really like that, so i;m familiar with process,
I guess the choice now is root the Inspire i have, OR get HTC One X or the GS III...(others?)
I really don't want much of a bigger phone than the Inspire, as i still want the
Phone "feel", rather than a computer...
Thoughts...?
Is it free? Upgrade. Which one? Go to a store, play around with them, see which one you like.
Do you get to keep the inspire after the upgrade? Root. If not, you got a free upgrade.
Sent from a dream.
Upgrade
If it is free, then an upgrade might be a good choice. If you are having to sign a 2 year contract, then this will be one of the couple main considerations. If you don't mind being locked in then upgrade to new tech.
If you get to keep your inspire, then you can get the free upgrade and have a phone you can root and play around with. Win-win.
I say Nextel.
Sent from my HTC Inspire 4G using xda premium
Its a battle to get free upgrades from ATT. One rep promises you one thing and the next says the first one was wrong. I've gotten the run around from ATT at least twice before. Good Luck. Enjoy your new phone
I rooted my HTC Inspire and had MIUI when I took it back (but back to Best Buy because that place is heaven for a flashaholic like myself) and the assistant looked at it (which was hysterical) and gave me 30 bucks for it. I went with the Galaxy Note but as stated by your preferences, that probably wouldn't be a good choice for you. GS3 is almost just as large so seems like the One X may be more your style. In all honesty, I miss sense a lot. A lot A lot and as long as you don't need compartments that can be opened, I would go with that bad boy.

Is the iphone an option as well? Also if screen real estate is a deciding factor, might want to look at the xperia ion.
The HTC One X is a nice phone but keep in mind there's no external sd card, removable battery and God knows when the kernel source will get released.

If money isn't an issue definitely go for the GSIII. You'll have native ICS if you don't want to mess around with flashing and there's a big dev community for it right now. I have a friend with a One S which doesn't have a micro SD card slot and he is always complaining about not having enough storage.
Go for the GSIII. The removable battery and micro SD card make it a better phone than the One X and it'll be a good improvement over your Inspire.

Next upgrade

I figure it's probably time for a lot of us with inspires to be eligible to upgrade. What are your getting? I've loved my inspire, but I'm looking hard at the lumia 920 (if it ever comes out) or the note 2. Thoughts?
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
I'm going to hold on the inspire. I just threw on jelly bean and it's unbelievably fast ...like a new phone. I think things will change drastically in next 12 months with speed and capabilities of phones... especially with screen resolution.
I like the screen size of the note and the camera on the 920, two things no rom can fix no matter how awesome. I do have to say though that running ics or jb has drastically extended my satisfaction with this phone. Couldn't imagine still running stock gingerbread with sense for all this time.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using xda premium
Im thinking of sticking with something from HTC, all their phones are coming with bootloader unlocked. Although a google nexus sounds sweet.
But after a antenna mod and ICS my phone is just enough for me. I will probably make the switch to JB soon.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863590&page=3
I sent another person a extra to see if he notices any improvements. Probably wont hear back from him for a week by the time he gets it and tests it.
gonna stick with the inspire for awhile. just switched to straight talk and can't justify going back on another contract especially when it will cost me around $20 more a month than with straight talk. maybe i'll get a nexus 7 or something and just use the inspire for phone calls and hotspot.
I might also stick with the I4G for a little while longer than my upgrade. I start a new plan in 6 months, so I can get another phone then. I would prefer to stick with HTC, but ATT's line up isn't all that promising. the Vivid is interesting, but it's lacking in developement. The HOX is awesome, but non expandable storage and removable battery does it for me.
Might go with SIII when the time comes around. Chances are it'll be a lot cheaper. However, most likely I'll just stay with my current phone and save that upgrade for later.
Im sticking with the inspire. Its fast, runs everything I need and has Jelly Bean on it.
I don't use the camera so its not an upgrade to get a better one for me. I can upgrade on the 23rd of Nov. I guess I'll hold on to it until something blows me away.
Im unsure what I would need to see in a phone to make me want to jump. Most likely it'll be because I break this one.Lol
my next upgrade will be a nexus with android 7 (chocolate wafle ) the desire hd still feels like something from the future, just hold an iphone for two minutes, then go back to the DHD... even if i buy other phone then ill keep this, hack it into a nas or something.
I'm really thinking about the next round of Nexus devices. Hope there is one that fits.
Not just a pretty Pickle.
I have an HTC One X is a great phone. Downside? No root for the current firmware 2.20 on AT&T (The one I have, lucky me). I recommend checking out the phones firmware before you buy it. If you're getting a rogers HOX or any other carrier, you CAN unlock the boot loader.
Just a word of warning. Its still an awesome phone, but really itching for root. I get about a day and some change with stock though, and I do prefer it over the Inspire.
Seeing as how. I just got this phone and sold my iPhone. I'm gonna keep this one for a while. However the one x is looking pretty nice.

booo......
Actually just bought a second inspire to replace my broken one that i dropped in toilet so won't be upgrading for a long time. I refuse to sign another contract ever again and other unlocked phones are ridiculously expensive.
I really like the One X but the dealbreaker for me is the lack of a microSD card. I like to store all my pics of the kids on the memory card just in case the phone ever gets water damage, I can always retrieve them back on the memory card. Plus I find 16 gb is not enough memory given the OS usually takes about 2 gb. Not sure the specs of the OneX+ but I would totally jump on it if it had the MicroSD slot. Might just stick with the Inspire for a while as RB's Jellytime is only getting better with each Release.
I think i may get an iPhone 5, but there's no telling what new phones will be out by the time I get my upgrade (7/2013)
my next upgrade has to have to micro usb connector, removable battery, and micro sd slot for expendable storage, those are REQUIRED for me to even look at another phone.
Has anyone had experience with windows phone? I'm really impressed with the camera on the 920, and that's one of the most important things to me. Wp8 looks pretty great, but I really do love android. There's just nothing on android that quite compares with the 920's camera.

HTC One. 64GB is more than enough, even iFags struggle to fill that up, and their applications have much larger file sizes than Android's.
If you're THAT insistent on removable storage, I think that the Xperia Z looks quite good. Although Sony's UI is awful, you're only going to stick a ROM on it once possible, so you might as well go for that.

After two Samsungs, I am not touching another one.
Plus, the Galaxy feels cheap and it has a rather tacky design (and Touchwiz is even uglier).
The HTC One is one of the few Androids with good hardware design and one of the first to give the iPhone a run for its money.
I had ordered the HTC One Developer Edition, but after the delays, I went with the stainless steel Lenovo K900 (http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/lenovo-k900-launches-in-china/) which should arrive next week.

I don't know if you realise this but the VAST majority of consumers don't need an SD card or removable battery and couldn't care less whether or not the One has those things. Maybe it would help attract some of us power users from XDA but other than that most people (including myself) are more than content with 32/64 GB storage options. If there's one thing I think that HTC simply did wrong with the One, it's the buttons. I don't have any clue why they made the frankly idiotic decision to get rid of the multitasking button and make the home button off-center because it somewhat ruins the aesthetics and functionality for me. That also means there's no way to remap a button to menu (as was possible on the HOX) and as a result the three dots overflow is present in most apps. Other than that, I personally think they didn't made any other obvious mistakes with the phone. Sense was actually very nice and the camera may have been a gamble but it could have been great.
