So I put the wrong firmware on my phone on accident... Put the cricket firmware on my USCellular device and well its bricked.. It works, but I have no cell service, nothing. All I have is the phone that works, but no cell service at all..
So any thoughts?
Just a shameless bump for any help on this or if anyone knows how to fix it, I would greatly appreciate it.
cant you just put the correct firmware on considering the phone powers on and works? Its not really bricked considering it turns on and loads up and everything.
That's the whole thing, I don't have the firmware to place on the phone to update it. That's why its bricked right now.
So I just took it to the store, and they flashed it back to the 2.3.5 uscellular firmware and everything is fine now. Now to find an actual method of rooting this phone so that it still works

So they were able to flash the phone back to the original firmware??
I have a similar situation with my S2...it thinks its an at&t phone lol
the US Cellular Ascend 2 can be rooted with SDK and Super One Click. just download both programs, open SDK and let it it run in the background, open Super One Click, plug your phone in and hit root... it's that easy.
i just put Playful God's cm7 port on mine this past weekend. had to download GoSMS Pro to be able to receive MMS messages, and the play store thinks my phone is a Cricket phone. but, data, voice, and text work perfectly.
it's kinda strange though, you have to do a complete wipe before installing cm7 so you loose everything. well, i backed up my contacts usin the my contacts backup app from US Cellular, when i tried to download the app from the market using my phone, it said that it wasn't available for my carrier (remember, the market thinks mine is a cricket A2) but when i sent it to my phone via website from my home PC, it downloaded and worked great...

so like a kid in a candy store i got ahold of ROM manager and ODIN and started flashing cool looking roms..next thing i know, the t-mobile logo is popping up and i am a not-so-proud owner of a modded T-Mobile Captivate, no longer an ATT Galaxy S!
of course the t-mobile network uses different frequencies and the like, so the phone part of my phone stopped working...bummer! i grumbled as i flashed back to a ROM that worked with the ATT network (FUSION it is called) but apparently that ROM does not mess with the internal network settings thats why it worked so well initially it didnt change the stock cell internals...
so now i have a hybrid phone, half-tomobile half-att half Fusion, and it only picks us signals from the Edge network!!! i barely get any reception so it pretty useless...
so i need some help...i can i get this beast back into a condition where is will work as an ATT galaxy?? also, for whatever reason i cannot mount or download market apps to the phone tho it does pickup wifi connections...
any help/ideas appreciated...advTHANKSance!

Okay, so I read and read, searched and searched. So far I'm pretty stuck.
I did a ton of research before taking my LG P500h, and flashing the ROM because I wasn't a fan of the Froyo android setup. Did everything properly, ran an nandroid backup, everything that I was told to do.
Rooted using Gingerbreak APK, custom backup using Amon_RA custom recovery. All done using the latest USB drivers LG updated me with.
I am currently with Koodo Mobile here in Canada. Pretty much an offspring of Telus Mobile. Currently I am running Cyanogen Mod 7 the 6.5.7 beta build, and the phone is not bricked, or giving me any errors or hassle.
The problem is that I cannot use the 3G network or use the Koodo network. It only defaults to Telus towers. No android market showing up anywhere either. From what I've found on here, there doesn't seem to be a bugfix solution to this, and no settings I've been able to change on the phone has helped my situation. Maybe I missed something.
So, I decided to take it back to where I began, back to Froyo 2.2.1 . This is where it all went wrong. Tried going through the Nandroid backup and restoring that, I was given an " Error : run 'nandroid-mobile.sh restore' via adb! " . Okay, I'm not exactly a Java programmer so I'm a little intimidated. I do however have Android SDK going on my laptop.
Some more searching revealed the KDZ_FW_UPD.exe flashing method. I got the right KDZ file for my Koodo phone, V10V_00.kdz and began the process. Everything checks out, good to go, started update. Wait, phone not found? WTF! My laptop recognizes it, says my phone is connected and working. No problems here, just can't find it? UGH.
So, I need someone to either give me info on getting it to flash the kdz, or get Cyanogen Mod 7 working properly on my device.
Please help, I'll fully admit I'm a noob to this, and not an expert programmer either. But, I know computers and I fully understand what I have done so far to my phone. Just not enough to fix it.
Okay, I have gotten some things working on my phone. I think I am settling into Cyanogen Mod nicely. I missed the Google apps flash zip so I have my market and stuff. Its a shame the data does not work though. Oh well I will keep updating as it gets developed.

GOT IT! finally...
Finally got my phone recovered to OEM specs. I had to restore my computer back to before I installed all my drivers and reinstalled all my USB drivers from there. Phone connected to USB properly, ran the KDZ updater, and it sucessfully installed the V10V kdz. All is well.
finally good luck.. enjoy androiding..
When you flashed the cyanogen mod rom what program did you use to flash the phone? And how did you make a rom backup? When you reflashed the stock rom did it still have all the original bloatware?
LG Optimus P500h TELUS became dead during Upgrading
Hi everybody!
I have LG Optimus P500h Telus. I purchased from Kijiji. I don't have any papers or documents for that so i cannot claim its warranty.
I was trying to upgrade its version during upgrading my device was stuck so I disconnected and plugged out its battery and inserted again. When i tried to turn it on. It never turned on again. It never ever appeared emergency mode again. I tried for several times by pushing home, power, and volume up and down buttons, and escape buttons. Now its just like dead. It never showed any sign of life. If anybody have any idea what happened with it and how I can recover or where I should take this one for repairs. I am in toronto, canada.
Your help and suggestions will be appreciated.

My problem starts from post #600
Please.
ok here goes, first off, i apologize if this is in any way redundant to someone's else question. with the amount of people whose phone got wrecked with the 2.3.6 update im sure somebody has had the problem im having.
like many people i just clicked "install" when google pushed the 2.3.6 ota. my phone was running 2.3.4. rooted. when it rebooted, i was greeted with the android exclamation mark.
i happened to have a clockwork backup so i tried restoring my backup. and restore it did, but not the radio. after the google update my radio was something like NO GSXXK1 or so. i tried the radio fix here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14564429&mode=linear#post14564429
i tried reflashing the stock 2.3.3 rom from google, wiping the bootloader and all. ive in fact tried many many things that ive read on xda and google forums.
now, ive managed somehow to have a running 2.3.4 with cell signal. using the efs file copy method in he link above. that restored my 3g and ability to place phone calls but sms arent working. i did the *#*#4636#*#* thing and notice that smsc is 00, i tried to set to the right value of +17057969300 for Rogers canada but all i get is an update error followed by a crash.
and now, funny, my search button is acting weird, like an eye that keeps twitching.
im not very knowledgeable in this stuff, just enough to get by and install custom roms but clearly im in over my head now.
why did copying my 3 efs file in the root of the sd card restore signal? i dont think these files really belong there, so just what the heck happened?
is there a way i can restore my nexus S to google stock rom when they shipped the phone? i mean, a complete wipe, sd, boot, radio...everything.
if i can start back with the stock phone, i can re-root again and start fresh.
any ideas please??
im physically tired of reading everything, misleading information and constantly flashing back and forth hoping its gonna work. oh and mandatory angry comment: thank you google for effing up my phone!
edit:
the only stock rom i tried i the 2.3.3 stock update available in clockwork. made no results.
current specs:
my phone is a i9020a
current baseband : NO DGSXXKD1
current build: GRJ22
android ver: 2.3.4
core: 2.6.35.7-ge382d80 [email protected] #1

Thanks dude, i had actually done that and did manage to get a signal back. its SMS that just wont work and when do the INFO thing to set the right value, i either get update error or a crash.
i installed stock rom 2.3.4 and install radio uckd1. that made my signal work even without having to move the efs files on the root of the sdcard. but still no sms.
is anybody else getting sms problems? this was working before the 2.3.6 fiasco.
im with rogers canada, in ottawa.
ok, just to loop the loop on this one and hoping it will be of use to somebody else.
my sms issue wasnt related to my phone at all, once i had a signal back, that's as far as the phone was concerned.
i placed a call to rogers to let them know i couldnt sms anymore.
long story short, they tried many things but ultimately, its doing the "hard" reset on the network for my phone that did it. im sure there a better name for it but basically they erased my phone from their network, i had to wait about an hour for the change to propagate. when i powered the phone back, it resynced everything and sms was back online without a single thing to do.
I got my one SV k2_cl from boost a little over a month ago and got the bootloader unlocked and rooted, working fine until one morning it wouldn'tmake calls or texts. I tried to factory reset and when I tried to boot got stuck at the HTC logo. Took me 2 weeks to get it to even flash a Rom on here that will somewhat work. I've got WiFi and partial 3g 4g connectivity but no voice at all. When I try to use the phones its activation tool-error, tried manually programming phone- nothing. I'm stumped. Can someone please help me out here. Don't want to have to buy another phone if I can help it. The only guess I've got at the moment is that if I could get a stock original rom to flash I'd be good to go probably and just hold out on doing anything else to it until after the kitkat ota is launched. The few stock roms I've tried either wouldn't download for some reason or just won't flash right. Thanks in advance for any help guys. I've always been more of a hardware geek more so than software but I can usually muddle through following guides of course.
I'm not much into boost, but did you try to flash the available RUU?
help...
As a matter of fact I have tried that and unfortunetly the installer locked up on a reboot of the phone because the phone wants to do the "Android is upgrading # of #" on every boot. That was why I was thinking since adb/fastboot and the HTC One Toolkit all sorta work that if I could get ahold of a working stock rom to flash on there and I have a stock CWM backup still on my laptop from when I first got the phone rooted and everything working. But of course thanks for the tip anyway. I wish that would work. It seems to be the easiest way to install back to stock.
Here's my situation. I got an LG G2 (D800) for my birthday last December. I was super excited to finally have an Android phone again, I had been using an iPhone 4S for a few months, so naturally I went straight into customization. I tried to flash a ROM (I don't remember which one) got loki set up right, installed TWRP. Got all that done. Selected my ROM, which had versions for different carriers(D800,D801,D802) kernels included. So I accidentally flashed the D802 ROM onto my D800,(In system settings it identifies as a D802). Now I didn't think to flash the kernel for it... I think that may be my problem. Now in me head I can just boot back into recovery, flash the right ROM and kernel, and I'm good to go. Not so much.. For some reason, TWRP was removed. I also cannot barely navigate anything. My touches are off and completely random, it will auto reboot after about 1-5 minutes of use. I have tried to get into system settings countless times and turn on USB debugging to try to get loki and TWRP back in it. But the touches are so off and inaccurate that I cannot even click on PC Connections to turn it on. I am at a ****ing wall. I have no earthly idea as to what I can do... At the moment I have no phone to use, I need one for my job. I beg for any help or advice, I will try anything at this point.
Thanks.
Please do tell me if you think its hopeless, I can take brutal honesty.

Okay, thank you. About how much did it cost you? Also, since I have my phone locked to AT&T wouldn't they make it so only their SIM cards work in the phone, making my AT&T SIM worthless? I like AT&T's service, I don't want to drop them.

In response to everyones question yes they would charge you for their service but this is a last resort if you have no help from anyone on here, .. Now here the thing, As i stated in my previous reply, i did this cause i accidently wiped my whole phone and only had just CWM aka clock work mod that was it and nobody has done a tutorial on this a fix or nothing for this model i had no way to adb push or sideload cause it couldnt recognize the model to push or latch on to my device. so I took it to my friend at the local Metro PCS store and told them i want service and I paid for their service they flashed it i took it home flashed IoRooted it , then G2 Flashed it to AT&T Stock rom, once back on my stock rom i then Used TWRP and made a full back up using TWRP and flashed the G3 Cloudy Rom , then Boom I was back in the saddle again !! , now I really hope that the XDA Developers could take a moment if they could to find a fix for people like me and anyone else who accidently wipes everything Toatl Os and all even SD and external and the only thing they have is CWM or TWRP, . but the fix would make it so we couldnt erase all data without being warned or some type of emergency fix or patch for this sorta thing, im just a noob but I respect everyone on the site and their work and they are good at what they do , so if the message reaches one of the master Pros id be gratefully appreciative , and im sure all others will as well , sorry for the late response ive been working 3rd shift and not much sleep. hope i answered all your questions , have a great day

To my Understanding I was told at the Metro PCS that it is owned now by AT&T as well as Cricket , but don't quote me , but I do know that their stores have Sim Cards now instead of just CDMA only .
Here is the best possible fix I could think of for you, and it is guaranteed to work because I've softbricked my D800 in many different circumstances trying to play around with options and settings I shouldn't have just to see what they were. This process is somewhat tedious, but nonetheless is works and will reset your device back to the absolute first rom ever released for the D800, which is 4.2.2 JB. After you are completely done with this, you can go to your settings>about phone>software update and keep updating it until you get to 4.4.2 KK. I think you have to do the software update 4 times to get to 4.4.2 so it might take a little time. Here is the video, follow it step by step and if you have any questions just post them here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqw_LFuyHbE&index=1&list=FLgk5eWpB4S7cI8MUlrRa67A
