about EGL drivers in chainfire 3d v2.8 - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

i want to know dat should i install the egl drivers in cf 3d v2.8???????these are named as BETA in the app.....{me on XXKPQ,universal cf root.}

reply pls. i need it very much.

if it says it's needed to do something with the app, then it's needed. make a backup and test it out.

Thanks! I was wondering what the EGL drivers were for, so I did a google search and found your WONDERFULLY USEFUL RELPY! THANKS!! Now I know. And the OP *NEVER* said anything about anything saying they were "needed". Do you even know what Chainfire 3D is!?!?!? Trolls like you should be banned!!!

i tried it on dhiru's cm9a8, it helps in reducing texture quality and improves game's performance and less memory consumption. So basically it's for playing high graphics games that usually respond laggy due to less graphics capacity of our sl.

[i9003 GUIDE]how to get the Lag fix ^^

Firstly it is not my responsibility if your your phone gets bricked or whatever.
On the lighter side, ive done this on my own phone and im getting a quadrant score of 1900+
OK
1) You need to be rooted to continue so go here if you have'nt already rooted your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=987169
you also need to have about 820mb free space
NOTE: do remember to restart your phone once after the rooting is complete
2)you need to get one click lagg fix by Kryptyx from the market
3) After downloading the app open it...it will check for the available options
4)Click on "Install EXT2 tools" and let it install the stuff
Now after the process is complete we need to go back to the options page
5) Now we have to choose ONE CLICK LAGG FIX V1+ (NOT v2.2) otherwise your phone will get corrupted.
let the settings be the default ones(leave them as they are)
Thats it!! Hopefully now you'll have better optimised phone
YOU WILL BE DOING IT ON YOUR OWN RISK AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATEVER HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE
feel free to ask any questions as this must be done strictly according to the instrctions
Best of luck
Thank me if i helped you ^^!
frankly useless unless you want to spike your quadrant scores..........sgsl doesnt need a lagfix.
and be warned removing the lagfix might be a real headache.
thanks for guide
Have you noticed any difference ?
i know there are occasional lags in i9003 does it remove them completely ?

there are no occasional lags unless you open too many apps together & leave them open, in which case the ram usage goes too high & any phone will lag.
I am on DdKb1 no lagfix applied.

plus if we flash the same firmware again it will undo thelagfix right? or the update wont be possible?Plus a factory reset would do the trick or not?

I read it in i9000 posts somewhere that lagfix should be removed while flashing else it bricks the phone.
I do see occasional lags if i have a few apps open but i never let my ram usage go over 368mb. is this normal ?

its hard to remove the thing totally.the process leaves traces.i did this quite sometime back. uninstalling the app doesnot help either when you reinstall it it shows you things are still installed.the fix changes the boot animation of the sgsl and even a reset from the recovery mode didnot get the old animation back.all in all i personally donot think the lagfix helped at all except for massive spikes in the quadrant score.i had to reflash to remove it completely mainly because it had some problem with my vplayer app.video playback on vplayer became choppy after the lagfix.
if you want a more zippy ui i would suggest you give a shot at more lightweight launchers.

[Q] Why is phone so laggy?

I've got a sgs+ I updated to android 2.3.5 from 2.3.3 it improved the overall lagginess abit. I have tried almost everything not too difficult to smoothen things out because I'm not really into custom rom kinda deep stuff. For instance, temple run, lags every 10 secs and I fail. Angry birds? Same thing. My buddy with SGS "classic" does not have any of these kind of problems.
Ps: sorry for being NOOB

If you want to have a better gaming experience (no lag..) you can either buy a phone with a stronger cpu, or root (which is really easy) and see if there is any custom kernels available for your device. With a custom rom and kernel you can make your phone more powerful than it is by increasing the speeds of your cpu. Phone's that don't have enough power don't play certain games well. I know you said you aren't into roms... It's really not that complicated. There is no way to make your phone more powerful, than to root and install a custom rom and kernel... Hope that helped.

The only problem with that is that the sgs+ has a 1.4ghz processor *COUGH*. its a single core but 1.4 is more than enough for temple run or angry birds. have you checked what programs are in the background? maybe there is a process that is polling every few seconds and lags the phone.

Yeah my phone too can get pretty laggy crashy and unstable when I am using it allot without turning it off.
ICS on my Samsung Gio lagged allot so I had to switch back to an earlyer version which increased my CPU performance by 400%, (however, graphic performance change was almost negligible)
You could also try something like a2sd, if you already have something like that your SDcard might be slow. (I suggest you get some confirmation on this one from more experienced android users before actually going and buying a new one, since I am quite new to this whole android stuff).
Hope I could be of service,

You probably have a lot of apps running at the background. Try installing a 3rd party app manager and end all apps. I mean all. Should work. If not then your phone has a problem. SGS+ SHOULDN'T lag behind the SGS not unless the SGS is rooted.
What is your "better phone for games"? Will it be released for ever?
Buy an iPhone for 0 lag gaming.. Android has some lags.
If you don't want to root and install ROMs then pretty much your only option is to uninstall unnecessary services and apps. Try uninstalling an app, testing the game, and keep uninstalling untill you know which app is possibly the offending one.

Rebooting helps for some 10 minutes, I really don't want to reboot that often. My phone goes 40-50fps but lags 1/4 seconds every 10 secs. I sometimes get bigger fps drops when playing reckless racing 2. I guess that is for dual core processors, but mostly it runs fairly well apart from those little lags

Sigh...... advanced task killers or any of them are just a pile or **it, they just use up ram, on android we all know theres no way to close all apps, they'll just keep opening anyway and they can't close most apps. It drains your battery and has your processors trying harder with a ram drainage. Absolutely USELESS.

hello
dear user it may occur to you that sometimes when you apply a custom rom to a phone it is now built right for that phone because of all the different specs to that phone so it would be best advised to stick with the set defaults if you don't realy know what you are doind (like me) but also you could try and root is (universil androrot) and then use some programs like memory booster or just un install some apps from your device all together so free up some of the phones memorry.
hope it helped daveveej.

Anyone tried the app GameBooster?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.burakgon.gamebooster&hl=en_GB
I know that the same changes can be achieved through other (free) means , but i was wondering if anyone tried it?.. i have a friend that swears it works.
Yeah I have it on my phone and I'm using it together with Ram Booster v1.25 (need to test it without the latter to see just how much that contributes). The result is I'm playing NOVA 3 in all it's full HD glory with very little lag. The game does run a 'tad' bit slower in general but because it's uniform throughout the game it just feels like it's the way it's meant to be played.
Really? Wow thats great to hear , i might buy it to see if its really worth it.
Have you tried using autokiller , ram manager or V6 supercharger though?
Looks interesting. Would love to see if there's a free alternative though.
Okay maybe its a placebo effect , but im getting playable framerates when i use it in combination with Ram Manager pro on hard gaming, playing The Amazing Spiderman . AFAIK Gamebooster also does something similar to RMP , but it seems to be less agressive .
I also have supercharger , but i only use it to lock my launcher , nothing else.
Hey Drivenby, been a long and busy day at the studio so haven't had an opportunity to get back to you till now. Haven't used autokiller , ram manager or V6 supercharger, will have a look at them. I am using Chainfire 3D Pro however to increase the graphical quality of some of my games (like NOVA 3), but you probably figured that already.
This all shuts down all the other apps and even prevents the them from trying to boot and regains system memory.
It has its own overcloked setting after ultra gaming mode but I then can normally be change it. I really recommend this app.
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Tried it with Metal Slug 3 but got to the same bit as I usually get to before the phone starts lagging like hell (Was In Ultra Mode Aswell)
Yeah it really depends on what type of system you are running . The app does work for some games but its obviously not adding more ram or doing the developers job of optimizing a game for our specific GPU . Some games do seem to work better with Ram Manager Pro on hardgaming , rather than Gameboost.
And ultra doesnt really overclock , it just sets the governor to performance , as far as i can tell. The dev claims it lowers other processes too but i dont know how to check if thats true or not.
on my opinion , gamebooster is better that rambooster and ram manager, it decreased glitch on my phone , now it's easy to play BATMAN

Yeah about v6, AFAIK it changes the oom kill values, which game booster does too, so there might be some conflict.
On my experience v6 is excellent to increase performance with the Android ui and multitasking, it makes everything really snappy but at a cost.
Let's say you have the regular stock launcher and have 3 o 4 widgets and a billion icons... If you have supercharge your launcher you might make it nearly impossible for the system to kill when needed.
I think that running most games, you should have no problem with this, but with the likes of recent game loft games that are known resource hogs, you really need everything the device has to offer, and while killing the launcher might make your device post game laggy for a couple of seconds, the whole point of the xperia play is to play games and if you can't do that well, it kinda defeats the purpose.
Right now I'm trying to keep the lightest configuration possible, while still getting everything I need and more.
Currently using lightning launcher, because it's fast, simple and runs with as little as 6 mb. Only one widget too. I guess I could try super charging it, but android has never killed it that I noticed, or maybe it just redraws super quickly.
Personally went back to ram manager pro, I think the ultra settings for game booster are not optimal for gaming or something, I swear I'm getting more ram but less performance, which doesn't really makes sense but whatever.
Also it has a couple of bugs that need to be ironed out. I'll check it again when the next version comes out.

the tweaks n scripts are already preinstalled in the rom.... the developers or modders who created the rom chose the best scripts n tweaks for our device... n released their roms... .... but just in case to give an external boost(not a boost exactly, its like lowering the games graphics details to play it, like v do it in pc) .... there is an app chainfire 3d... try it... operate it... open it and you will understand what to to..

Flash an up to date kernel which have a good TS driver for gaming(Paolo, Caveman, Ta...)along with your favorite GB rom, then test it in neocore without touch and then touching the screen.

[APK] seeder ! or project butter for gingerbread in Xperia Play

Hello Xplay users !
I initially posted this in dixperia2 thread but there's no reason you wouldn't try this in your roms
If you didn't know there is an app called seeder in this thread ( a thread witch grows every second) it worked for me and killed almost all the lags I had with my Play ,
everything is smoother than before ( for real ) !
I used to overclock my Play to 1.3ghz like the op recommended to have good performance but now I reverted to 1ghz with seeder activated and it's way better than before !
The app is not/not obviously working for a bunch of devices (especially the latest high end ones) but for my 1ghz/512mo it definitely makes a difference
there is also a controversy about HOW seeder works and if it harms battery but I didn't notice anything for 2 days now
The installation and uninstallation are easy just take the latest one (seeder apk v1.1) and make it launch at boot
The official thread is saturated with all types of comments so can we discuss here our experiences with seeder for our device only ?
I use lupus kernel V6 for GB and Ondemandx with SIO , with 170mo of zram
So just install the 1.1? Set on Boot and then what? Should i keep it or uninstall? How about a better installation process? Can i uninstall it afterwards?
sent from Xperia PLAY™ via Tapatalk™
already posted in xperia play development section
Sent from my R800i using Tapatalk 2
sorry for that I totaly forgot about the dev section as I supposed this app is more likely to be in the "app" section !
@bhavei you just need to tap "activate" and tick "on boot" that's all , if you want to remove the tweak and all what it does just uninstall seeder
In the main treath there are more files... I tryed the 1.0 alpha and 1.1, but no diference at all... May be it requires another way to install it completely...
I'm wondering.
install ONLY version 1.1 , a common issue is the app doesn't get root permissions so check if it's the case
In my case I noticed that apps open quicker and multitasking has improved
There's a flashable zip also
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Any disadvantages, you people who have tried it, that you want to share?
I tried it, and right now i see immediate removal of lag of games that i play that are usually laggy. I would have to test it for days (it could be placebo) before i decide if this really works.
I read some of the threads discussing it, and all i can say right now (in layman terms) is that:
According to the app maker, there is lag coming from random number generation, because the os itself did not prepare enough cached random numbers. There seems to be lag when the a random number is requested and the one prepearing the random number (a file called '/dev/random') has no random number ready to give (like you just woke up somebody and he has to give you something, i guess lol).
According to some respectable android experts, nobody uses '/dev/random' but those security stuff (ssl etc.), so it does not really work.
My 2 cents: Random numbers are obviously used in games. It may also be used in special effects. Maybe it fixes those stuff. Although from what i read, those random numbers does not use the affected file '/dev/random' (i am not sure about this, any experts?).
Well right now it is working for me. According to cpu spy, i still have deep sleep and the cpu does not work like it is always in 'performance' mode.
Well that's disappointing. The title of the thread says project butter for gingerbread, and I was like "where have I been?!?!", but no. No project butter for me. :crying:
Pocketnow made a video on how this actually works and it reveals that it doesn't really help, but instead it makes the phone run at a higher frequency for longer, so it seems like it performs better.
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhH4Gf8Az5o
it will not be obvious for a nexus7-quad-core-possessors to see if it helps with lags (because a nexus7 isn't supposed to have lags) , if you have a nexus7 and it lags then there is a problem in the first place !! and again , no one seams to know HOW it works the only thing a can assure you is that it doesn't eat battery while gives better performance in my Xplay
