Camera JPEG Quality Setting - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

I noticed (While using Elixir) that the default camera JPEG quality is set to 85%. Is there a way to set it differently? I'd rather have better quality shots, than a smaller file size.
There's a post in the amaze section and apparently by changing values in /etc/media_profiles.xml you can set it to ultra fine quality.
Is the process the same for our device?
Nick
Edit: I'm using PyroIce Sense 1.1.0 if that helps.

[Q] Camera JPEG compression too high?

Even though I've got my camera set to max resolution and "superfine" quality, when I view the pictures 1-1, there are blatant compression artifacts visible. And the file sizes lead me to believe that the JPEG compression is cranked up way higher than I'd like.
Are there any hidden settings menus for the camera (i.e. *#*#<something>#*#* like for GPS and audio settings)?
Yes there is a hidden settings menu for the camera. I believe it is posted in the galaxy s forum in a thread containing all of the service menus.
Doesn't look like the camera service menu has any compression settings, unfortunately, but thanks for pointing me to it.
You're welcome.

Custom picture settings

I'm a big picture guy and wanted to know if any of you guys have adjusted any of the settings and have noticed better picture quality. I must say taking off auto-focus does help with the blurryness a little as stated in a previous post but just wanted to know what differences have you made/seen...
I currently have most things set to default.

Set it to highest resolution.
You will probably have to go to another app to really get good pictures. The stock app compresses them down too much. Hopefully, they will improve it in later updates. There is no excuse for not having more features like Camera 360 - the camera can do much better.
Ditto for the "720p" video. Did some side-by-side with a still camera that has a 720p mode - night and day difference in quality. Again, hope/wonder if this can also be upgraded with only software.
Switch to standard photo size by switching off widescreen mode. All widescreen does is lop off pixels from the top and bottom of your photos. If you really wanted that, just do it yourself in a photo editor. You are not using the full resolution of your camera in widescreen mode, and 16:9 photos are non-standard when it comes to printing either 4x6 or 5x7 photos.

[Q] Sound and image quality

Hi,
is there pls a way on how to improve the sound quality in recorded video and improve the still image quality/compression ?
The video in 2D and 3D is quite OK but the sound is recorded at 24kHz (while CD quality is 44kHz). Is there a way to get this improved? The sampling rate is quite low and decreases the overall quality of the video.
Also, i'd like to know if there's a way to change/setup jpeg compression for stills. The jpeg files and quite low and missing lots of details, i believe this could be much better if i could adjust the jpeg compression ratio. Is there some way to do it? some xml configuration file that can be modified or other way?
My phone is rooted, stock rom 10D.
Thanx,
Josef

Change camera JPEG and video compression

I remember seeing a special camera app over on the other One X forum that set the JPEG compression to 0 and increased the video to 20mbps. The app has since been pulled because it was too buggy. We couldn't have flashed it anyway because you need cwm.
It got me thinking about something like that on our One X. Would it be as easy as changing a buried config file somewhere? Or would it require a whole new app? I'd love to be able to take some uncompressed, or less compressed pictures and really show off the camera's capabilities.

thinking the same thing - I know they are compressing the hell out of the pictures as 1.5MB images from an 8mp camera is too small. I would at least have liked the option of choosing my compression levels.

[Q] How do you set the still camera to 640x480 resolution and image editing question?

Hello, I only just got the HTC ONE mini yesterday and just trying to get to grips with a couple of things, mainly the stills camera. I can see in the setting you can change the video resolution but I cannot for the life of me see where you can lower the resolution of the camera say if i want to shoot in 1024x768 or 640x480 - can anyone point me in the right direction please.
Also when I have taken the photo how can i go and adjust the brightness and colour and contrast and sharpness of the photo before sharing it using the inbuilt htc camer app rather than having to download snapseed or another post processing app? - I have tried 'edit' and then 'retouch' but rather than sliders for brightness contrast and saturation etc it just gives skin smooth face lighting face contour etc but no control of photo brightness or anything else - thanks for any help.
