[Q] Slow Browsing experience after ICS update - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay... so since I updated to ICS my browser loads extremely slow. Pages take about 10-50 seconds to load or more, and sometimes it hangs for minutes. Ran speed test and getting my advertised 20megs. I have used the stock browser, ICS+, dolphin, opera, you name it I have tried it. It's loading videos slow as well. I have rooted it and now back on stock rom. However, I have tried Revolver's and Revolution's rom as well. It ran perfect on Honeycomb though. I have cleared cache many times, factory resets, I have tf101 b60. When I use apps though, my speed is fine, like XDA HD or any forum app. It's just my browsing experience.
My laptop and phone connect to wifi just perfect and no wifi settings have been changed, like I said it was working fine on honeycomb so I doubt if it's a hardware issue. I can usually figure these things out by trouble shooting or reading forum post, and rarely have to ask my own questions. I STUMPED!!!
Just tested it again. Facebook loaded a little slow, gmail took literally 2 minutes, engadget took about 25 seconds. Who knows.......

I have noticed this as well. At times, I have to force kill the browser just to get it working again. This seems to happen on any browser, not just the default.
I think I will be trying some different roms to see if it helps. The stock rom hasn't impressed me a ton.

Any solution?
Why does ics take so long to load web pages? My phone is much faster and not on wifi. I explained my situation in the first post.

SKyFire on HTCS710

Has anyone suiccessfully ran the SkyFire browser on the HTCS710?
I have donwloaded it a couple of times and when installing get the message - this is not compatible with your device?
I am using it with no problem at all. Did you download proper version for non-touchscreen device?
I'm using. It's not working well... One page and restart
I've no problem running Skyfire on the S710. Although I'm using Custom Firmware.
Even youtube plays without problem!
Ok - thanks guys - at least I know it should install, i'll just keep trying.
BTW i am running WM6.1 Clean Rom made by Fireburned, but i guess that should not make any difference!
Success at last

Well just tried downloading for the 5th or 6th time in the last 2-3 days and it has instaled and sppears to be running well, though it does seem alittle slow on GPRS - will have to try it on WiFi
SkyFire works fine on my S710,
bust some times its too slow -> servers are overloaded
i agree it does seem slow, even when i am using it on wifi and i am still trying to get used to the zoom and mouse functions!
it is really slow and it drains the battery so quickly, i wouldn't use it unless you have a nearby power supply! other than that, no problems...
This is the answer to most of my prayers. Finally! I was beginning to lose faith with my HTC s710.
Thunderer, my one installed and loaded just fine with no glitches. I also experience slowness though. The audio plays just fine with no glitches but the video freezes for 95% of the time and then stutters for the last 5.

[BUG] Opera 9.7 & WiFi N

Hi.
I just hard reseted my HD2 to get rid of whatever might have come since I've been installing tons of stuff just playing around.
However, yesterday I activated WiFi N for the first time.
I notice that skyfire runs blazing fast, and everything else works great.
Opera on the other hand only works when I press one of the favorite thumbnails in the "Internet-tab". On the page that has been loaded I can do anything I wish, clicking links etc. IF I however enter another adress or do a google search I just get the error page where it says I should check my internet connection.
If I go back to skyfire and try any adress it works great, as well as any other program that uses the net. The only problem is when one is inside opera and wants to go to a new adress. It somehow thinks that you do not have any internet connection.
I tried disabling WiFi N and opera worked better then.
As soon as I turn of WiFi and go 3G-surfing opera works great.
I'm glad you resolved your problem but my diamond has no issues with the draft N tweak and Opera.

or use opera 10 beta 2 instead..
I've never seen this issue, but the stock opera does have problems working out whether you've changed from wifi to 3g and back anyway

Well it's not really resolved since I prefer to have WiFi N activated.
I was actually wondering if anyone else had stumbled upon this and found a solution.

I see, maybe I should go for opera 10 then.
Skyfire works great, flash and all, besides it's soooo much faster than opera.
The downside is that it doesn't support multitouch, it doesn't auto-allign text and the quality overall, even the text is blurry when one zooms in.
If skyfire could fix this I would go for skyfire all times above opera, even though I'm big fan of opera and always use it on my PC.
UPDATE
I switched WiFi N off and played around.
It seems that opera works more frequently now, but still randomly on the WiFi.
I mostlye get the connection error (8 out of 10 times) and other times it just works.
It seems that if I turn the WiFi on and go to opera direct, it won't work. If I start skyfire, then go to opera, it will work for a couple of minutes (sometimes).
I want to remark that Skyfire works at all times, at every single try.
What's going on here? :S
I have wifi n activated on my hd2 and have the same issue you have. There is one major difference though. In my case the error messages are pretty random - say once every 30 to 40 attempts. Currently I can live with that but off course it would help to get the issue out of the way...
Sorry couldn't be much help.

Weird, after a freshly activated connection I can open opera ONCE and it works fine. If I close opera, and open it a second time it won't work..

Opera supports flash too. You just need to activate the Flash libraries:

well, since opera 10 doesn't solve anything, and doesn't support multitouch, it doesn't appeal to me.
I'm gonna try a new ROM soon to see if it helps to solve my original problem.

once so far. I actually had to reboot the xoom to get it back going.
5 days of heavy use. No browser crashes. Wifi only version.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
Far more than it should. At least 5 times in the week I've had it.

Never happens...cause i don't use it.
I haven't kept count, but i'd guess at least 5 times. I've also had one forced reboot (system was none responsive, then got the honeycomb boot animation.
Honestly, maybe one or two times a day on average. I use the Xoom as my main device while I work/code from my laptop. The Xoom is my browser and testing device.
Though most of the times the browser crashes I either:
- have multiple tabs with videos, etc open in the browser
or
- am trying to visit a site that's heavily coded and crap for web standards
Usually its the later. (Which a lot of even major sites have terribly coded sites)
It crashes everyday for me, but I have alot of tabs open...what pisses me off is it doesn't reload the sites that were open after the crash...
2 or 3 times a day for me. Seems like it gets jammed up, I use a lot of flash
Not once, although the launcher has crashed and the entire thing has frozen up on me twice. I've only had it for 3 days
My fiance's crashes 4-6 times a day.
MiƱe crashes like clockwork when I tries to close a facebook chat session.. happens in dolphin also.. I think its still more buggy then I would hope. But I'm gonna clean this thing out soon and hopeully its all my crap and oc's that I did
I usually only have two tabs open and only visit a handful of sites. No crashes so far. If you get a consistent crash on the same site, post it here so it can be verified and reported.
It's happened maybe four times for me. I've also had it act "funny" where it won't finish loading pages (the status goes most of the way, and hangs). It continues to respond, but just won't finish the pages (especially complicated ones). Killing the browser fixes it.

once when I first got it. Overall I've had a very bug free existence on my wifi xoom.
my browser gives me fits also. I was one of the people that used the code and received the 25% discount. Any other users with discount have more of a browser problem then others. Just curious if there's some connection there.
You guys should try Dolphin Mini...It works good as hell..!!!! Also don't confuse this with Dolphin Hd.
no crashes but browser is slow as hell. Why? Is the a fix or patch or something? There is no reason why the xoom browser should not load ,scoll, and respond as fast if not faster than my galay tablet. Both on same wifi. Any ideas?
I have the Motorola Xoom Wifi and the stock browser crashed constantly and froze. I use Opera 11 and it works flawless. I have used for almost a week and have had no crashes since. You can get it free in the marketplace - try it out.
yep Opera is OK but comes with no flash support..once again please try Dolphin mini..I'm ready to take Opera off my Xoom now thanks to Dolphin mini.

Annoyance with the martket

Wondering if anyone else is having a problem when updating/downloading apps from the Play Market. Each Time I do it seems to "freeze" the tablet for several seconds, no touch input works. Then it will slowly come back to life and allow touch inputs or the ability to back out/go home. Is it just me?
I haven't had this issue so far. I had a pretty hefty amount of apps to install when I moved over to this tablet and it did it seamlessly. There was some slow down, but this is to be expected as it accesses the memory and such. Otherwise, I had little to no issues with the market besides some network slowdowns when loading images and such.
This hasn't been an issue with the network. If I download a single app its as if the machine is non-responsive for 5-10 seconds, no touch input works (not even the home button) then after that time it will show downloading and everything gets back to normal. I have not noticed any issues in any other programs and not even any slowdown. But when downloading from the Play Market it does this every time, something has to be glitching between the two.
Does anyone else have this occur...with any device? I've used the android market for several years now and this has never happened before. I love the tablet though, this is just an annoyance that I want to resolve.
I have it with Asus Transformer TF101. I always assumed it was a hardware problem (slow NAND).

I'm pretty sure its not a hardware issue with the Note 10.1
No problem here with US GN 10.1 32GB WIFI. Had two Google Play downloads going then went to play Ski Safari that seem even faster than my Nexus 7 even with the downloads in the background.
Firmware update seems to have fixed the market freezing problem I had when updating/downloading apps. Though there is a very slight "lag" that occurs when doing so...its there only when I first initiate an update/download - glad its not freezing now though!

Original Shield Tablet Freezes When Connected to WiFi

Hi there!
I've contacted nvidia regarding this issue (reps seems oblivious) and posted it on their official forums to no avail, so I'll try and give it a shot here.
Basically whenever my tablet connects to WiFi after being disconnected for some time (a few hours to a few days), the tablet freezes when it downloads notifications. The freezes can be minimal (like a 5 second freeze) or be quiet substantial (it can lock up for as long as 10 mins). Once all notifications are downloaded and displayed, the tablet then performs like a charm. I even got my tablet replaced from nvidia and it has the same problem as the one I sent in. Uninstalling Facebook and Facebook Messenger improves performance drastically, but when my tablet checks for notifications it freezes still freezes for a few seconds (with Facebook installed, it could lock up for 10 mins and crash the launcher multiple times). Running on max performance did nothing. I'm really curious if this is a hardware or software issue since some people doesn't seem to have this problem.
I'm running on nvidia's stock firmware (4.2) unrooted.
So here is my question. Have any of you guys experienced this problem? Were you able to solve it? How did you solve it (did a custom rom solve this)?
The main reason why I haven't installed a custom rom yet is because I use the stylus frequently and I use the touch-block feature in nvidia's stock roms and couldn't find ports of it.
Here is a video of the issue. (youtube.com/watch?v=cJrUPV7mY6s) Now there are a lot of widgets on the video, but I assure you removing all of them does nothing. I tried.
Facebook Messenger. That says it all. What other apps have you running in the background?
This definitely sounds like a software issue to me.
Maybe you're being hijacked. Who knows.
I've had this same issues since I got the tablet (K1). System reset, no non-Google apps. Happens regardless of FW; I'm on the latest update. Don't be quick to blame the OP.
Basically, every time the tablet gets a new network connection, the system hangs and becomes unresponsive for 10 seconds to 2 minutes at a time. It's obvious that it's updating all the apps' network requests. However, the thread priority should make the system hang. I've only seen this issue on the K1; never on any other Android device. Either they're using a custom network stack, or they've messed with networking priorities.
I'm on the latest update

Of Facebook Messenger? Or OS? Or all apps?
Either way, it makes no matter no such issues on Lollipop. I am just saying.
