So from what i can see and know the leaked release for 3.6 keep rolling out and they are def getting better, what i don't know is that sense 4.0 with ics is about to release mid march + to our sensations. So why are there updates for 3.6.
Just guessing but id say that the 3.6 is preparation for sense 4.0, will use the same base but with sense 4.0 in place instead ??.
Thank you ;D
Sorry but where do you have a confirmed, reliable source saying that the Sensation is getting Sense 4.0 in March? There are rumors but they are not reliable. And you answered your own question anyway: the leaks have 3.6 because that's what the final version is going to have. There is no way that they would test with 3.6 for months and then suddenly switch to 4.0 with less than a month left.
Oh k so sense 4.0 is never going to be on sensation ?, um i never said confirmed but htc did say on many occasions that ICS would be released to sensation before the end of march.
no we will most likely get 4.0 but a leak is a leak some guy at htc posted it "i think htc leaks them self for free testing" and then devs work on it and beta test it and share with us a final version is the last one they are supporting as on now if you have a tech problem with 3.2 htc will tell you to upgrade TO final version
oh most releases fixes a known problem only a update and the releases from a dev may or may not be a new release he could have just fixed his rom look at change logs
ICS is coming but not with Sense 4.0, at least not at first. It will drop with 3.6 and if we're lucky we might get 4.0 at some point.
might update to the htc one, seems like a better phone atm.
new i would wait all phones have bugs we are just getting good now
wouldn't count on it

I don't think Sensation will ever get sense 4 - if you look at their new line, the One V (cheapie phone) ships with ICS and Sense 3.6, I think that's probably what Sensation will eventually get. Might not be bad though 3.6 is looking a little less resource hungry than 3.5 but still keeps mostly the faux 3d feel of sense (sense 4 looks more flattened). You will probably just have more stock ICS components - Stock Multitask for example.
HTC ONE V COMES WITH SENSE 4 THAT IS CONFIRMED ON HTC WEBSITE, SO SENSATION SHOULD ALSO GET SENSE 4 I SUPPOSE

i read some were that they are releasing a beta overseas for a few users with 4.0
from insertcoin-roms.org
Baadnewz posted yesterday this:
Ice Cream Sandwich Final Build for Sensation
Finally HTC Released Ice Cream Sandwich for Sensation
Android version: 4.0.3
HTC Sense version 3.6
Build number 3.32.401.3 CL309896 release-keys
But it was released to only 300 persons. Stay tuned . Rom coming soon
So, we become 3.6 based ICS first.
But i think we'll become 4.0 later, too. I mean it's a very fast phone and the release date of it was may 2011. It's not yet a year old!
they has to release it to us!
As far i could read in a report from the MWC in Barca HTC Sense 4.0 will have first release with the new HTC one smartphone.
But if it is true.....nobody knows....
just wait for that One S that's coming to T-Mobile US, its got crazy similar hardware to our Sensations and its supposed to swap the tegra 3 for the snapdragon s4 (we have the s3). That rom should be much better.

android 4.0, ie. ice cream sandwich. not sense 4.0.
unfortunately no officially support for sense 4 on sensation...sorry.
After sense 4,waiting for sense 5...
Whats the difference anyway?
I find Sense 3.0 and 3.5 having nearly everything.
Getting an additional place to put an app's icon is not enough to be excited about...face lock? nice gadget...

How bout much lighter than Sense 3.0 and 3.5? HTC admits that Sense 3.0 onwards is bloated. They changed Sense 4.0 to be lighter
Just now, I have received an information from HTC Poland:
Yes, you will have the new HTC Sense 3.5 or later version when you upgrade your Android to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Still 3.6. final version
Whether or not Sensation gets Sense 4.0, we'll have to wait but it is a long wait. Maybe Q3/Q4 or maybe next year. Definitely not getting Sense 4.0 before the One series hit the stores and definitely not getting Sense 4.0 after One series are already selling.
We have wait a long wait.

Is anybody here party to any reliable information regarding an official sense 3.5 ota?
I find 3.5 a nice improvment on 3.0 and would love to get it officially with the minor bugs ironed out that are present in the leaked test release.
Do we think (or know) that this will happen or will we have to wait for a further iteration of sense (4.0?) before we get any official updates.
I get the impression that the dev's are a little quiet at the moment so perhaps some people know things that the rest of us are not party to??
There's talk that as ICS is out early next year HTC won't bother with officially releasing the leaked ROM. However, we may still get Sense 3.5 as there's nothing to suggest we'll get Sense 4.0 when ICS is released
I hope it soon comes....

I don't think that htc Will leave us atto 2.3.4 till ICS release...
In my opinion the 2.3.5 with sense 3.5 Will arrive (sooner or later)
i think that sense 3.5 comes with ICS
they just devepoped a new sense and they are not going to use it?
well seems not really understandable to me so i would guess
ICS 4.0 with HTC sense 3.5
otherwise it would be (again) a sense 3.0 (or 3.5) based UI with only slight changes and nothing big to show

Have you been wondering what HTC plan to do with Ice Cream Sandwich on their devices?
Well, wonder no more as one of our internal sources at HTC has managed to lay his hands on their very first internally distributed test build of Google's latest and greatest. Built on Android 4.0.1 (the build is a month old, and it will become 4.0.3 by the time it hits public release), the first test releases are intended for the HTC Sensation / Sensation XE and sport the 3.0x version tag. The usual HTC customisations are present including HTC Sense 3.5, so don't expect any massive visual changes for Ice Cream Sandwich. As you would expect, ICS has been slightly sliced and dice to give the HTC experience - Facelock is present but the new keyboard is replaced by an updated HTC IME etc.
We hope to have some ICS on Sensation screenshots very soon... watch this space!

How different can the ice cream sandwich be for the users, if it comes with the exact same sense UI as the gingerbread?
An increased build number in the settings? not worth waiting for IMO
I want an untouched Ice cream sandwich
Sense 3,5? That sucks. What will happen with devices that already have 3,5? Do they just keep it?
Give them some time, either w8 2 month for sense 4.0 with Ginger or 2 month for sense 3.5 with Ice creame

I dont understand why HTC would want to ruin what from all ive read is by far the best and most professional version of Android yet by adding bloody sense on top again
all HTC needs to do is add Sense widgets to stock ICS and call it a day.
That would be perfect... but HTC won't...
they better not mess it up and make it lag.
I understand they have to add sense on to it as one of their biggest USPs. I dont really see the point of adding 3.5 though other than getting a phone out running ICS. I certainly wont be flashing anything ICS + Sense 3.5, id rather wait for a pure build like CM9, or wait until/if they sort out sense 4.
Sense 3.5 is really good and way better than Sense 3.0 and probably with ICS it'll get better with hw acceleration and remember the post talks about initial rom, probably public release will have Sense 4.0
HTC and all the others are going to add their gimmick with out a doubt. Why would they not? Thats THEIR calling card afterall.
The question is, can WE remove it? I used TB to freeze Sense on my phone and replaced Sense with ADW EX. Now the question is, can I freeze Sense and let ICS come out to play, or is ICS launcher gone at this point?

I don't think you can count on that. HTC removes stuff from original ICS, and then ads sense into it. So I don't think you will run a stable version of ICS without sense.

That sucks. How much of a chump will I feel for freezing Sense, then adding ADW EX, and then finally having to run an ICS theme? Sheesh.
Well, Im sure that once HTC has released it CM9 wont be far behind for the Sensation. I could live with ADW EX until CM9 comes out.
Matt
Why did anyone think for one second Sense would not be in this release? EVERY HTC device has Sense as it's the selling point. Don't like it, get a different handset - it's a simple solution.
Have to say, though, Android 4 is awesome
Everyone sais ics looks good and stuff and yer most of it does but am I the only one who thinks any vanilla Android launcher looks so boring? And the widgets sucks. I love sense, however I'd like 4.0 just for something new

Honestly, we guys are looking at the bad site of what HTC could do. Who knows? It might be even better than the stock ICS...
Haven't you guys seen the leaked build of ICS with Touchwiz for the Galaxy S2 phones? It's still the same thing as it is currently. Same thing with Sense, it'll be the same exact thing, we won't even get the new battery/wifi/signal icons that come with ICS.
I still wouldn't mind it though, I love Sense, some hate it. And plus with hardware acceleration, hopefully it'd be quicker.

Update on Android Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades
by HTC on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 5:04pm ·
HTC has been working hard to get its Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades ready, and we’re excited to announce that our first round of ICS upgrades will roll out by the end of March for the HTC Sensation, HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Sensation XE, followed soon there after by the HTC Sensation XL.
In addition, we can confirm Ice Cream Sandwich upgrades will be coming later this year to the HTC Rezound, HTC Vivid, HTC Amaze 4G, HTC EVO 3D, HTC EVO Design 4G, HTC Incredible S, HTC Desire S and HTC Desire HD. Stay tuned for more updates on Ice Cream Sandwich releases in the coming weeks.

WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so happy right now. Saw the post on twitter and went crazy. After faulty eMMC's, locked bootloaders and no updates, i was thinking of going samsung next time. Not gonna happen.
HTC, learning from their mistakes.
EDIT: Just read that the Sensation will get it by the end of march, and the XL soon after. Then, probably the Evo 3D will follow. Our device should be the first among single core family (DHD and IS, not Sensation XL) to get the update, like it got the 2.3.5 Sense 3 update. I believe it would be close to late April/early, May. So it's gonna be quite a long wait. But better late than never
I'm amazed...... Wow, never expected this! Glad its confirmed.

Seems a long way off, but like you say, better late than never
I'm sure there will be a leaked ROM for the us, DHD, IS, XL, and it could be easily ported
THing is, it won't ship with Sense 4.0, but instead 3.6
Bit sad....
It's kind of like the original Desire upgrade. It got the Gingerbread update, but HTC chose not to update the Sense version to 2.1.. THey kept the old version (Maybe because of internal memory issues?)
THat was kind of a rubbish update IMO.
Hopefully our update turns out to be good!
We really don't need to care of Sense 3.6 or 4.0. Even the update isn't important. What's important is the kernel 3.0 that will accompany it, and it's source. After that, a Sense 4 port should be easy. It'll be just like what we have now - official Sense 3 and ported Sense 3.5, both on Android 2.3.5
Maybe we get lucky and get Sense 4 right away, who knows. All i know is, HTC won my loyalty with this.

Yeah
Thats the main reason I'm happy too
I have no intentions of using the official update itself. I'm just interested in getting the base for this ROM & the kernel source. From there devs can tweak the base (Lowveld ) And the ROM will be much better
Hopefully HTC still release a WVGA device that will come with Sense 4.0 (although it seems unlikely)
Because the ROM will need resizing the images etc, which is not a easy and perfect job.
Virtuous Unity was a great job by the team, they resized the Sensations qHD Sense to work on our device. But unfortunately it still had flaws, inconsistent size issues, & wasn't as fast as the WVGA version we have now...
Anyway, enough of my rambling, I'm really happy with HTC's decision! They are even supporting the DHD which is a 2 year old phone.
Seriously, that device is lucky! It went from 2.2 + Sense 2.0 > 2.3.3 + Sense 2.1 > 2.3.5 + Sense 3.0 > 4.0.X + Sense 3.6/4.0
2 major OS updates and 3 major Sense updates! Thats as good as Apple with their iPhone 3GS updates!
One thing i did notice, was they haven't announced any plans to upgrade the HTC Flyer to ICS...
I was considering buying one if it did get the update officially

Crazy news. Keeping my desire s a tad longer then...
I also think this is great news, as I am not much for rooting and doing stuff to my phone. And better late than never.
BUT I think the main problem is that all the big phone producers have their own UIs on top of Android, meaning that we never get the updates OR really really late.
If they just would let google control updates, then all users would have ICS already on their phone regardless of brand and phone (overseeing old phones that cannot handle the new software).
I know that the big companies need to differentiate themselves from each other.. but still, just what I would prefer.
Waiting for HTC Sense on ICS
I dont know about you guys but I am pretty happy with HTC Sense and would love to have an ICS rom with Sense. Will wait for the update from HTC to try out ICS on my Desire S.
I just got a good reason to keep my desire s for another 6 months.
That guy who came out earlier and say he believes all the phones running gingerbread should be able to run ICS was right after all.

Actually, this was relevant, but a month ago. Now, everything you will see about the update in the General section will be re-posts or "information leaks on ETAs" from highly unreliable sources. The update is close, it'll be here in April and as soon as it comes, there will be a post with a download link in the DEV section

There are no leaks - so I fear that the update is far away.
in former times the ROMs always "leaked" (aka ROM for beta testers) 1 month before the official releases...

Enjoy ?
The sensation performs well with 3.6 but wonder how it would with something even lighter.. that line got me in a fit of rage.. fine no sense 4.0 for sensation because they need to sell the one. But i was really really hoping for a less resource demanding version of sense.

Hell, I like the look of 3.6? Personal Preference i just wanted to know if its possible and you know its a nice OS i think.
I wouldn't expect much, unless you want to downgrade the whole OS to Gingerbread via a custom ROM (has that even been done already? Custom ROM with an OS downgrade from the original software?..). Sense 4 is tighly integrated with ICS, I don't think earlier Sense version will work with ICS - except maybe for single widgets/tools.
However, if Sense 4 is skinnable (don't know whether it is), I'd expect someone to create an "old Sense" theme sooner or later.

Dude,
You would NOT have to downgrade to gingerbread to get sense 3.6
Sense 3.6 is what comes with all the "older" HTC handsets being upgraded to ics. HTC wanted these handsets to look like their "old" sense (ie. 2.1 and 3.0/3.5) so as to not confuse their customers (ie. non techy) with something that looks different. Some poeple may prefer 3.6 as it comes with thing like the stock ics multitasking etc. At any rate, someone might want to do it "because they can".
Gingerbread is/was Sense 1.9, 2.1, 3.0 and 3.5
So sense 3.6 will work with ics, as it is only meant to work with ics, and on older / slower hardware.

Oh, I didn't realize that. I thought we were talking about the old Froyo/Gingerbread-based Sense on older devices, I completely forgot about them being upgraded to ICS too. In that case, yes, I guess 3.6 can be ported over from the Sensation or some other device.
