Beats Audio(Lib Mod)for all Gingerbread roms!!!!!!! 03/01/2012 - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Saw this this morning and thought I would share!!!
I AM IN NO WAY TAKING CREDIT FOR THIS...JUST WANTED TO SHARE!!!
Thread were I found zip
**Follow the instructions below. This is what I did and you can defiantly hear the difference...IMO
1. Extract the flash.zip with 7zip or winzip
2. Place the files inside (in zip file)
/system/bin
/system/etc
/system/lib
manually with any Root Explorer App to the respective /system folders
The three folders are
/system/bin
/system/etc
/system/lib/soundfx/
permissions are as follows:
all files in etc, audio & lib folders rw-r--r--
all files in bin folder are rwxr-xr-x
(/etc/audio/ folder is rwxr-xr-x ONLY the folder, not the files inside)
full reboot (do not do a quick reboot!!)
If this helped in anyway please hit the thanks button!!!!

YA BUT...
Once the file is flashed, I see no Beats audio installed in applications...? Not in app drawer OR in Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All
Did I miss something? Does it just run as a system application? Or did I just install your virus?? I sure hope not

Why are trying to steal someone else's thanks? It's ok to link the thread, but relinking the file is not cool man. When you do stuff like that, and people start to have issues with it, you are not going to know the answer. Thanks for linking the thread, but I don't think it's wise to link the file here as well.

It's not an actual app. The beats audio engine should kick in once you start a song with your headphones plugged in, if it works correctly that is..

I would say that this is only a software equalization. The real beats audio is an audio driver located in kernel and radicated in the system and hardware.

How is this different than DSP manager included in my rom?

I actually did notice some improvement I think. This is coming from cheap 20 earphones lol
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk

I tried it, and I didnt really notice any difference. I'm using an okay headphones (Klipse image s4i).
I'll test it again after work by playing the same song on my girlfriend's evo and see if I notice any difference.

I did this, and it did nothing. Also tried on my Tab, and nothing.

wont it bee easier to just download the equalizer app from the market? set the equalizer to a side S pattern and enjoy great audio from all apps. its really the same thing but at least this is more customizable and also its free

I noticed a slight difference when using this in combination with DSPManager.

Kernel support for Beats audio libs
I have a good feeling that once this mod becomes further refined and functional for most phones, it's capabilities will really shine with phones that are running Chad Goodman's original AnthraX kernels. Since the Beats drivers are baked into Chad's kernels, it may provide that missing link between the new libs and your headphone jack. I feel like the libs with Beats code won't be able to be utilized properly without the necessary kernel support. What do you guys think?

Fail... Just sayin

Stock 2.2 unlock sound replace?

Can anyone tell me how i can replace the "click" sound for the Unlock screen on the new 2.2 ROM that was leaked? i want to use the Droid sound .ogg file instead of the unlock sound HTC put in.
I tried doing a adb push Unlock.ogg /system/media/audio/ui
but it didn't replace it,
I did it in recovery and it said it went through, but audio is the same
am I missing a command?

There you go, just rename it to Unlock.ogg after you unzip it
NEWB...Please Help
Hey guys,
I know this thread is a bit old but I am new to this stuff and have very little idea about how to do this.
Is there a resource somewhere here that explains the how to's for guys like me?
Or just a noob guide to making my dinc play a different sound when I unlock it.
Thanks so much.
It was explained earlier in the thread. For this update zip method reboot into recovery. Go into mounts/storage mount system and data. Then flash your update zip just make sure to rename the audio file in the zip to the file name mentioned above. Hope that helps.

No... that is not a flashable zip. You need to extract the file from the zip, rename it and adb push to its location. If this doesn't make sense, don't bother cuz you can f#ck up your phone...
Can any audio file be used for this? ie: can I rename laser.mp3 to unlock.ogg? Will that work?

That will not work, you must convert the file from mp3 to ogg first, use this site to do that
http://media.io/
simply upload your file you want to use, select the format you want to convert to (.ogg for UI audio (ie: unlock sound, alert sound, etc)
before sending to your phone, be sure to rename the audio file to be exactly the same name (including Caps) ie: Unlock.ogg NOT unlock.ogg
I hope this helps, if it does, please click "Thanks"!
The reason for the caps vs lowercase is because this is a Linux operating system, in Linux, the OS see's file names as OS files if there named a certain way, take for example
if you put a folder called Media on your SD card's root, and then have another folder called "Notifications" inside that, the phone will show those files as Notification sounds when selecting them to change
if the folder was called media and not Media, the phone would ignore it If its on the SD card, but if its inside the System folder it won't.
Media>Notifications>Name.ogg <<SD card))
Media>Audio>UI>Name.ogg <<system/media/audio/ui) internal memory
but all the audio files inside the System/Media/Audio/UI folder have caps then lowercase.
Unlock.ogg
Lock.ogg
VideoRecord.ogg
KeypressReturn.ogg
KeypressDelete.ogg
Effect_Tick.ogg
camera_click.ogg
if you rename a file that doesn't exactly match what the system wants, it will not replace the existing one and still use the stock one.
make sense yet? (No Pun intended) lol
do you get it? (the UI folder must be inside the System/Customize/
What you said makes sense. Although I can't seem to get that website to work from my phone. Every time I click convert, I says cannot locate. Do I need to do this from a computer?

can't do it on your phone, it uses java and some other sort of code that won't work on a mobile phone.
simply save it to your pc where you know it would be easy to find and then just push it using ADB (make sure you move or save the file inside the tools folder of the sdk if you push it using adb or it adb won't find it
SUCCESS! I was actually able to use a different site using my phone. http://www.online-convert.com/
I then used root explorer to rename and copy the file into the correct system folder. Works great now. My only complaint is that it seems I can't control the volume of the lock/unlock sounds I chose using any of the volume settings. It's always on full blast unless I set to silent or vibrate. Any ideas? Thanks.

SUCCESS AGAIN!! I did some research and found out you can change the system volume, which controls the lock sounds, via an app called Audio Manager. I just used the free widget version and lowered my system volume by one or two. Works great. I don't personally use the widget portion of the app. Thanks for everyone's help on this. Hope my trials help someone else find the answers they need.

lol yeah, its media volume is what you want to control the sounds volumes, and you can control this under settings>sound>volume
be carefule with those volume apps they can screw up your speaker, some are designed to send more voltage to your speaker than it can handle making it louder but as an end result can fry your speaker and cause it to crackle or have static

Actually, media volume does nothing to adjust the lock sounds once you change them. System sounds is what you want to change. Although keep in mind that this also changes the volumes for 'sound on keypress' and 'audible selection' options. I just lowered mine from 7 to 6 and it made a HUGE different in the volume.

That's why I dont use them to make anything louder, but more to individually control each sound. If I want music or something louder, I'll plug my phone into some sort of external system.

You guys doing this on a stock sense rom? Because i've done the exact same thing and nothing changes on either the unlock screen or the camea shutter.

Simple Black Theme

Just copy and paste the apks contained in the zip into /system/framework using root explorer and reboot phone manually if you have to. Yes the files are taken from older captivate themes. Blackfroyo for twframework and some basic perception theme template for framework, so credit to them.
And the notification colors are actually blue...not orange. The screenshot program messed up the colors.
http://www.multiupload.com/VS4FBH54UW
Also If you post some links to some awesome themes, I'll port them over for you. As I'm too lazy to dig through all of xda. Just make sure they are Froyo themes to make it easier...Or else there may be difficulty on porting as easily.
I'm already working on porting MattedBlues over, in case anyone asks.
Sorry for the noob-like question, but both framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk already exist in the /system/framework/ folder. Am I supposed to overwrite them?
I'm new to the Android world and am still figuring my way around.
Thanks.

Glad to hear your anticipation. Jabbawalkee (the guy who made it) and I take MattedBlues very seriously. As a matter of fact, the Theme Chooser version is just about done in case you run CM on any other devices. Anyway, back to the topic at hand.
One issue. When using the stock music player lock screen controls the playback control buttons are not shown. instead it's the number 1(previous track). 2 (play/pause). 3 (next track) . they controls still function but the images are not the proper ones.
I tried to paste these after doing a backup of original files and it says there is not enough memory to paste the files?
Nevermind, I am an idiot.
I was not looking at how much free space I have and I was out of free space.
I moved angry birds .apk to sdcard and copy paste worked great. I also copied the stock .apk files from framework to sdcard just in case
Working now.
very nice theme!!!

There is a much easier way.
If you are rooted, just get the "Beats Audio Installer" from the Play Store (It's free). Run it, let it install, then reboot the phone.
I did it yesterday and it worked great! Makes my $20 Sony ear buds sound better than any I've ever heard.

Does this really replace all the OP steps? It doesn't create an app in the app drawer called Awesome Beats, but every time I boot the notification bar does say "Beats Audio On" .. More than one way to skin a cat, or different thing entirely?
Awesome beats is working so nicely on my skyics ROM. You get an actual app that gives you options to customize your music instead of just a logo.
I originally installed the play store app (beats audio, root required) and it did nothing on my ROM. No noticeable audio difference.

edit!!!! I just realized what I was missing, and I didn't fully read the first thread. So I'm going to try that, and then see if I need to delete the original post I made, seen below in italics.
I've tried this twice, reloaded my GSIII rom R4 from scratch twice. If the screen goes blank, the audio sucks and goes back to normal sound. If I turn the volume up, the sound returns to normal. Then when the sound level bar goes off the screen, the sound quality goes back to normal. When I adjust the volume setting, the super sound returns. Then when the sound level bar goes away, the super sound quality goes back to ****.
What am I Missing?

I'm sorry if asking a question was inappropriate in this forum, but it seems like better answers typically come out of this subforum I put the apk into System/app (after renaming the orig. camera apk to .bak) and it works! I like the options to use the volume buttons to shoot video and pics. The only thing that would be nice is a menu option to kill the camera sound instead of having to delete the files as below:
note: To have the Camera COMPLETE silent you have to delete some system-Audio files from:

“shutter.ogg”
“cam_start.ogg”
“cam_stop.ogg”
“Volume_controll.ogg”

[R800x][2.3.3] Xloud and music track skip for stock vzw!

First off, a big thanks to CosmicDan, 7OH, and 007shark.
As otherwise I wouldn't have these two mods.
Xloud is from 007shark's UK rom for R800x. It WILL increase all system sounds. It SHOULDN'T blow your speakers unless you always have then on max volume then that's your fault. Its not needed for the track skip to work, just thought I'd share.
Download via mediafire
And music skip via volume keys, hold the volume up key for next song. Down for previous song.
Download via Mediafire
Another version of the track skip mod but the buttons are fliped function wise.
Down=next song up=previous song
Download via Mediafire
Thanks for sharing this. ^_^ I'm curious though, if stock VZW doesn't have XLoud to begin with, what makes it louder than CM9?
Also, do I need XLoud installed to use the skip track mod?
Not sure, I shared xloud since I just like the boost knowing my speakers are as loud as they can be.
You don't need it for the track skip I wasnt going to upload it at first but then figured other people may want it. I'll add that to the OP later.
Sent from my R800x
Alright. I flashed the button mod and it's working perfectly. I'll definitely give XLoud a try sometime. My speaker is loud enough for ringtones but when it comes to music, it could be louder.
--NVM-- I saw the thread for ICS.
But nice job dude. If I ever go back to GB(don't plan on it with the amazing-ness of ICS) I'm gonna end up using this mod. Stock sounds are too quiet.
And how would I remove them if I say i no longer wanted them?

Do the same for xloud but delete the files I have added. You should notice your backup won't have a few of the files in the xloud.zip just remove them.

Crap I installed xloud and didn't make a back up.....x_x
Well then shame on you!
Jk you can still disable it by removing the lines referring to xloud from the build.prop.

sweet anyway this can be converted into an app?
Like Xperia Tweaks is an app that enables the Mobile Bravia engine, if you're not using it you can uncheck it, and even uninstall it.
Having something like that would be awesome & convenient
I doubt it I just don't feel like it.

Any plans on working on a 2.3.4 version of these mods? Its nice to have options.

Have tried flashing the current version on 2.3.4? I don't think verizon changed the policy that much. Otherwise could you upload a copy of 2.3.4's android.policy.jar and I'll make another version sometime uuh after lol.
Thanks.
Can't seem to get the music skip with volume keys to work though. Music starts when it's off when I hold down the volume, but no skipping.

I flashed the volume up as next track (kind of emulate what PlayerPro does). What music programs does this work for? It kept starting my Winamp, but not moving onto the next track. Does it work for stock?
Will xLoud work on CM9?
I haven't been able to, I would like to though. atm I'm stuck here
I've tried making the xloud service pressiatant ie always on but the system wouldn't switch to the xloud_device nor route it through the speakers or headphones. If you look at sechko's paranoid android port you'll notice he has included the xloud wrapper and xloud sound libs but the system ignores them.
