Unlocked Relapse 1 Year later - Captivate General

I received my Samsung Galaxy S from [email protected] in which my friend unlocked it to the Rogers code since I'm from Canada. I am not intelligent when it comes to phones and it appears my phone has relapse and is locked. I could use some help and suggestions as to why my phone after a year of service suddenly locked again and became unusable.

You can just go back into Market and download the Galaxy S unlock by Harolz and your good to go! Can't help you with the Why part, but at least you'll be able to use your phone again.

Can a captivate be unlocked and used with t-mobile?

Can you unlock a captivate and use it with t-mobile? If so how do you unlock it?
yes it can. if it is an att gsm phone.
Captivate carrier unlock possible?
I don't think the at&t samsung galaxy S captivate can be carrier unlocked at this time. Let me know how, if it can be.
Thanks
My cousin bought one last week, but he's traveling outside the states for some time, and asked AT&T for a an unlock, but they said this is a new device, there will be no unlock for about 10 months, plus there is no online service at the moment that unlock the captivate, so he ended up returning the phone, and got T-mobile Vibrant instead... they give you the unlock after a month or so, and you can also unlock it online
all devices can be carrier unlocked. call att again and get a different rep.
Hey if you give me your O'Neil number I can get the unlock code from art for out I have some people on the inside

Keep in mind however that if you use the Captivate on T-Mobile, you won't be able to get tmobile 3g. Only 2g Edge.

at & t unlock code release date

hi guys,
i'm not sure if you guys know about this but i feel like i want to share this.
i called at & t customer service this evening asking about the unlock code. the guy on the at & t said that the unlock code will be released on july 7th, which is a good news for those who don't want to get into the technical side of getting your captivate unlocked now...
I think I seen the date posted in a few other threads as well

Why don't you guys just use the Galaxy S Unlocker that's free from the market and unlock your phones?

Ever since we got the JH7 update, the Galaxy S Unlocker from the market has stopped working for a lot of people. Nobody thought they when the update would overwrite the EFS directory with null info. Sneaky Samsung. Shame on them
Yeah,
I got the July 7th date from an ATT chat rep also. (posted it in another unlock thread)
Options for captivate users with updated firmware are
Wait for the 7/7 date
Or use the $5 SGS Unlock tool in the market
Or use the Manual Hex editor method (steps 2,3,4)

If your phone can do it, do Odin 1 click back to the original stock version, then run it. My insurance replacement came with the newer 2.1 on it. One clicked it, rooted, and ran the tool.
AT&T really irritated me when I got my original Cappy. I bought it outright and they refused to give me the unlock code.
Other than using it on other GSM carriers, are there any other gains to unlocking the Captivate?
I unlocked my phone using SGS but it was working only part of the time with the Orange pay as you go sim card 2 out of 3 calls had no audio whatsoever, although SMS worked fine

That's got nothing to do with unlocking.

Unlocked and rooted should make it worth more if you sell it.
Galaxy s unlock by helroz. You think out don't work, but when you check it, it shows network lock off.

I recommend this app as well. It has worked well for me.
I did a coworkers phone and I found his efs folder completely trashed with null data even after Odin. I ended up using galaxy s unlocker and letting it do a byte level unlock. I confirmed it showed that the network lock was off.

If needed, there's a few tutorials in the Dev section on repairing the nv_data manually.
Hello all, I purchased my phone used and it's supposedly already unlocked, how do I verify this?
Download SGS Tools and go to secret codes and select Engineering Mode.
You'll see the status there.

[Q] How to get a free unlock code from AT&T for MB865?

Hello,
In order to make my phone more valuable for when I sell it, where can I get an unlock code from AT&T for free?
I just got this replacement today but the original one I got in December (For Christmas).
I'm just looking to sell this thing (not now but whenever I have it for at least 1-2 years) and get a Samsung Galaxy S3 (Or get something from ChinaVasion.com)
Anybody?
Thanks in advanced,

Most of the time, if you're account is in good standing with AT&T, you can just call them up and ask for one. You may have to be the account holder though.
I read that somewhere that at&t will only give up the unlock code if you paid full price for the phone. I got my unlock code from.....
www.myworld.ebay.com/unlockliberty?_trksid=p2047675.l2559
it was only $3.45 I was shocked that it actually worked. From the listing you will need to email the seller your IMEI I never got my code until I did that.
You can get the code 3 months after getting the phone from ATT, you just call them and they give you the code. Thats what I did.

Did you have to give them the last 4 digits of a SSN?
Thanks in advanced,
TCF38012
yes they use it to verify that you are the account owner...
edit-i was asked for the same when I got my original atrix unlocked and also for the iphone
I got my phone from ebay for like $80. No matter what I did a sim card would not be recognized in the phone. At&t gave my mother the run around about repairing it so I sent it in for repair and motorola fixed it with out any issues. I don't think at&t would have given me the unlock code because I was not the original owner. Same reason why they would not repair it.

I needed two new phones and I couldn't resist the BOGO deal, and I'll do it again over unlocked bootloader if another deal like this comes again.

Do the BOGO deal, get get the one free and sell the other, then get an unlocked version. I am still considering that.
Have an S4 with triple boot including WiFi calling when I need it (don't really use Samsung Pay much), and miss being able to do multiboot with any phone at this point.

Unlock Request/ UNSUPPORTED DEVICE :(

Just got this back from ATT. I can go to one of the pay sites (any suggestions?).....but I am rather dismayed by the "....no longer supported...." verbiage.
Thank you for contacting AT&T about unlocking your mobile device.
Unfortunately, your unlock request was denied because:
Your device is no longer supported, and we can no longer obtain the unlock code from the manufacturer.
Questions? Please call 800.331.0500, or dial 611 from your AT&T wireless phone.
Yeah I suspect that means no update either..I am done buying devices from carriers.

Yep... Figures. The AT&T way of getting yet another one over on its customers. I too moved away from carrier branded devices. Picked up the Moto X Pure for myself and got my wife an non branded unlocked S6.

Hey,
If you still want to opt for a paid service, try www.unlockunit.com. I've unlocked 2 Samsungs and an LG with them. You get the code in 1-2 hours, depending on the network. AT&T should work even faster, though, like 30 minutes.

Thanks, contemplating a trip to Europe, would be nice to be able to pop a pre-paid SIM in. Being rooted and running Fulmics should not present a problem, correct?
I think you have to return to the stock firmware in order for the unlock code to work. A year ago i purchased a code from a website for a samsung with cyanogenmod on it, and I had to flash the stock firmware to be able to use the code.

Grrrr. Rocking Fulmics 5.0 at the moment and not all that interested in returning to stock.
The unlock is permanent. Once unlocked you can return to Fulmics
