I searched the forums on here and couldn't find anything on my topic. So if this was already mentioned I'm sorry
Recently I've been getting a Red and White Star in my Notification Bar. Its Spam I know but how the heck do I get rid of it so it doesn't come back. I downloaded Air-Push Detector and got rid of the apps that were listed but I'm still getting the Star. Please help.
Try Addons Detector... it may work for you.
Holy Crap
I had no idea how many apps have add ons. Most of them have Ad mob. Is there a way to just disable all those add ons? A ROM maybe??? Or a MOD??
try adfree, it requires root access but if may help. if not I know addons detectors works well
Add on detector just tells you what app is causing the push notifications.

I never had this before today.
Received a notification, it's a red star to the top. Says "Claim Your iPad2 ! - You may have WON an iPad2. Tap here!"
Anyone else ever have this? It popped up twice today, how do I stop this?
I would reflash it immediately.
Its moat likely a push messaged from an app you recently installed.

Yes you need to be more careful what you are installing.

Don't really know what it could be, installed a couple updates today from my Go applications, that's really it recently I can think of.
I don't keep any apps around that I don't use, like to keep it clean looking. And I'm not one to be on the Market downloading **** when I'm bored.
I have Lookout install too, guess it didn't catch it. :/
It's a push ad from an app.

Definitely a push ad from some app you have installed. Download airpush detector from the market and use it to identify the offending app. Uninstall said app. Profit.
/edit
Had this problem before with some app I downloaded for my kid. Annoying. :/

Downloaded that and didn't find anything. Must have been something I uninstalled, one of the Go updates. I thought everything was safe from them. :/
You might want to try Air Push Detector. It is free on the market. It will let you know which program you run which puts an ad in your notifications.
its a push notification/ad from application, much like glu games have their game notifications even if the games are not used.
reflash! i'd suggest hypersensation
Me too
Same thing happend to me, Im going to have to download that app. I wonder what app it could have been. I don't randomly download apps weird.
Hello all,
I keep getting a notification from the market about a recommended app called POPS.
I don't want it and can't for the life of me figure out how to disable market recommendations.
Any help?

Market doesn't recommend apps on your notification shade? Possible virus or dodgy app

You're getting adverts in your notification bar? Sounds like you have Airpush on your phone. It gives devs the ability to send adverts and recommendations to your phone. Use this app to scan for Airpush and remove it...

Thanks for the reply...
It is in the notification area but I don't want it at all since I can't even get rid of the notification without tapping it and following it to the market...

Thanks for the reply, but I installed and ran what you suggested and it wasn't that. It didn't find anything...
Ok try this one...

Remember to rate affected apps with a single star and mark it as defective / malware to make sure the devs understand your opinion on that kind of ads...

I tried it and it did find one App that was using the push ads (Kona's Crate), so I removed it. But the recommendation is back now, so I guess it wasn't that.
Any other suggestions?
Next step would be to install Lookout Mobile Security. I use it, and the free version can scan your phone for all dodgy apps, malware, spyware etc. and will scan new downloads to stop it happening again. It also has tracking and wiping features should you loose your phone. Unlike certain antivirus apps though, it does not hog resources too much or drain your battery.
I have gone for the premium version, which adds real-time virus protection when using the stock web browser. The free version should serve your needs for now though. Put it on and run a scan. See what turns up.
The only downside to this app (and it's only a small niggle) is that after a new download from the market, the phone may lag a bit for a few seconds whilst Lookout scans it. That's it.

Yesterday I received a strange notification also but mine was in English. It said upgrade available please reboot now and delete this message. It struck me very strange because I'm rooted have custom Rom and I had NO upgrade waiting for me. I just deleted it and did not reboot... So strange? Still don't know what it was about. But I read to be carefull about things like this because it could be a virus.

Could you post a screenshot?
Might be some app you've installed sending your AirPush adds or something similar.
Search in the Play Store for AppBrain ad detector, Airpush detector or similar.

I've got a Verizon GNex, pure stock also and just woke up this morning with this same notification, actually 2 of them. I dismissed them before taking a screenshot figuring I'd find them in my file explorer, but no luck.
I installed Avast and ran a scan of all my apps and my SD card, but it all came back clean.
Any ideas?
Perhaps a small issue in the Play Store where accidentally wrong APK's get pushed? I haven't read anything about that though.

I have Japanese ads in my notification bar. The ads have been in my notification bar for the last week. I have uninstalled the few apps that I have recently downloaded and I haven't figured out which one is the problem. I tried using air blocker, air push detecter and numerous ad detecting apps. The ads don't seem to go away until I tap on them and download an app. Even after I download the app, more ads come back. I have screenshots attached. Can someone help me get rid of these ads?

You may also have been infected with some sort of malware/adware. I suggest downloading Norton Mobile Security or Lookout Security and running a scan. If one antivirus program doesn't pick up, try the other.
Also, uninstall all the apps that they've told you to install. Those are probably just making it worse.
Good luck :good:

Xeon is right you may be infected with malware. I would boot into recovery and do a full wipe 2-3 times to make sure you get rid of all your user data. Then download an antivirus app and make sure you watch what you download after that
I guess its about time I wipe/reset again. Thanks everyone for the help.

aSpotCat might help you pinpoint the offending apps.
And never download software just to make a nag screen go away (phone, PC, etc.). The problem will only get worse.
All,
Just installed Bonestock 3.0 rom. But is there a way to get rid of the persistant 4g LTE icon when I'm on Wifi? It's not a big deal, but it does take up some retail space. I think I read somewhere its because of some Verizon app that cause the 4g LTE to be persistant. I forgot what app causes this and which to uninstall to get it back to normal.
Thanks!
Look for the "canid.apk" and freeze/remove it
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Were you able to confirm this works? I am interested in this as well. Thanks!
That's the app that causes it. It is in fact it popped up since md3 ota.

Tried looking for canid.apk in titanium backup but didnt find it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I remember reading when MD3 came out that the app called "Caller Name ID" was causing the issues. Just deleting it might not be a good idea. After a 10 day "trial" VWZ will start to bill you $2.99 a month unless you opt out. You have to unsubscribe from the service first and then uninstall the app. This has to be done from inside the app from what I remember. I'm sure a google search could find the info needed.
That was exactly it. I disabled the Caller ID app and it is back to normal.
It's also known as canid.apk, don't know why you had trouble finding it maybe it the application manager.
Be sure to disable it on your Verizon account because they will charge you.
