Information: HTC Evo supersonic(4G)
ROM: Cyanogenmod 7 Build 256
Hello I'm having a strange isssue my phone has seemed to randomly selected a ringtone to play out of my mp3s out of no where, In sounds setting I have a ringtone selected to play, In individual contacts it is set to default for all contacts, no custom ringtones.... but it plays a mp3 out of my \Freemp3download\music folder, I renamed the mp3 which it was playing and now it plays nothing, What Apps would override the system settings and set a Ringtone/Missed Call. maybe it was overlooked by me but i dont see any programs in my Application\Running which would do such a thing. Thanks in advance for your help
I've seen this issue before on certain builds of CM on the Supersonic. I believe that the fix was to flash a different build, either newer or older. You can also try reflashing the rom over itself without wiping data, though I'm not sure if this will solve anything.
Good luck, hope you get it fixed

At some point recently, my WM6 phone stopped playing its ringtone (normal WM6 ringtone sound, haven't changed it). If I go into Settings->Sounds & Notifications and check the Phone: Incoming Call sound, it is correct and plays. If I check in Settings->Phone and check the sound, it is correct and plays. But it doesn't play when I actually get a call. Changing the ring tone to something else doesn't help either. Anyone have any idea how this can be fixed, other than a hard reset (soft reset doesn't work)?
hi
this happened to me wayyyy back when i still had my xda2. although i'm pretty sure wm se2003 and wm2006 are completely different =)...what happened was i installed an app that's causing the conflict. i forgot which app was causing this problem but after i uninstalled it, did a soft reset and the ringtones came back. for your case, you might want to check if you installed recent apps. if yes, perhaps one of them is causing this. i think it's mostly the old applications that affect the system. example, installing an app made for se2003 devices.
or, is your bluetooth on? it's possible that all sound is being rerouted to the headset. i think it's a bug for a lot of devices.
hope that helps.
cheers

Thanks for the reply.
Fring is the application in this instance (I wanted to use Skype over my 3G connection, but the Skype client itself is a no-go, unless you go back to an old version that only outputs via the speakerphone). As far as I can tell this happened after installing it.
Problem is, after uninstalling Fring and doing a soft reset, the problem remains. I figured maybe the issue is a registry setting or the like, but have no idea where. So I turn to all you knowledgeable people in the hope that the answer isn't "do a hard reset." :-|
I noticed the problem when someone tried to call me. My phone would just vibrate and not ring. It took me awhile to narrow down the problem. It seems only the first few ringtones in the list (Alarm-****) are the only ones that work anymore. The rest are still listed but when i try to test them, they don't play. Anyone know where the default ringtones are stored or how to fix this issue? If not, I'll just have to hard reset.
issue fixed. I had selected to associate all the audio file types to my pocketmusic application. I unassociated all the file types and now it works again.
Okay, this problem has been bugging me for a while. The ringtones that came with my SGS4G play when I select them, but my others (ringtones, mp3's, stuff created in RingDroid) will not play. This also affects music playback. I get an error that the file is corrupted.
Now the interesting part: if I reset my phone, I can play the sounds again, no problem. After a few days though, it starts happening again. As for the Youtube videos, they play fine, then after a couple of days they stop playing. If I reset the phone, they play again.
My phone is rooted.
Firmware: 2.2.1
Kernel: 2.6.32.9
Stock Froyo Build
I have CacheMate and Super Manager cleaning out my caches whenever they can.
I checked all possible sound stuff (Airplane Mode, no ringtones on silent, etc..) and still have the problem.
This problem started before I ever rooted my phone. Any help you guys could give would be appreciated. Thanks.
You said it is affecting music playback as well have you tried a different SD card? I had one go bad on me and I was having similar issues before it completely died. The Youtube videos however are playing from the internet right?

This is intriguing.... you can either:
1) Since your rooted, you can get CWM and install a custom rom. Might fix your problem since it's most likely a software problem i think.
2) Since your still stock and just rooted, and also it started before you were rooted, try sending it in to tmobile.
I suggest try #2 first and if they don't do anything about, try #1.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
Thanks guys. I'll try something and post back.
I have the new T-Mobile Revvl, also known as the Alcatel Mickey.
I have some OGG files I grabbed from an older CyanogenMod build for my S4 and successfully used them on my LG K3, however, once I set my ringto to "Growl.ogg" on my Revvl, the Settings app crashed, and now it crashes every time I try to change my ringtone.
I can create the problem just by going to Settings>Sound, and get "unfortunately, settings has crashed.
I tried to clear Settings data, but that didn't do anything and because I'm not rooted, I can't use Link2SD to clear SettingsStorage.
I also tried downloading an app called Tone Selector that I've used before. It too, crashes.
I have a LOT of apps and I'd rather not do a factory reset. Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I'm at the end of my wits with this.
Hi guys!
My problem is, i cant use custom ringtone and i dont know why and so ****ing frustrating.
So, i set my .mp3 file in settings - sounds and vibrations- ringtone.
But when someone calls me lollipop ringtone is ringing....
ROM is original 12.5.1
i bought 2 phone yesterday. 1.phone easy setup the mp3 file works good. 2. phone i setup the mp3 file and does not work.
any idea?
Can not help but have the same problem.
The only ones where work are those who were originally there.
Rom: newest did not now number Phone:6/128
Same here (two phones, one with the same problem). In the one with the problem, the configuration of an older Xiaomi phone was copied over (using BT) during the initial setup.
Did you have any success resolving this?
Try full wipe ( factory reset)
I read it on another forum and worked for someone.
Try app AirDroid from play store. It have function to set ringtone.
Did anyone solve this problem without using the factory reset?
This is the same for me. So annoying. All the system ringtones are crap. I've tried turning off miui in dev options but that didn't work and I don't want to do a hard reset. I've successfully set custom rtones for all my main contacts, that helps but it isn't the solution.
