Lost ringtones (most of them) - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I noticed the problem when someone tried to call me. My phone would just vibrate and not ring. It took me awhile to narrow down the problem. It seems only the first few ringtones in the list (Alarm-****) are the only ones that work anymore. The rest are still listed but when i try to test them, they don't play. Anyone know where the default ringtones are stored or how to fix this issue? If not, I'll just have to hard reset.

issue fixed. I had selected to associate all the audio file types to my pocketmusic application. I unassociated all the file types and now it works again.

Phone no longer plays any ring

At some point recently, my WM6 phone stopped playing its ringtone (normal WM6 ringtone sound, haven't changed it). If I go into Settings->Sounds & Notifications and check the Phone: Incoming Call sound, it is correct and plays. If I check in Settings->Phone and check the sound, it is correct and plays. But it doesn't play when I actually get a call. Changing the ring tone to something else doesn't help either. Anyone have any idea how this can be fixed, other than a hard reset (soft reset doesn't work)?
hi
this happened to me wayyyy back when i still had my xda2. although i'm pretty sure wm se2003 and wm2006 are completely different =)...what happened was i installed an app that's causing the conflict. i forgot which app was causing this problem but after i uninstalled it, did a soft reset and the ringtones came back. for your case, you might want to check if you installed recent apps. if yes, perhaps one of them is causing this. i think it's mostly the old applications that affect the system. example, installing an app made for se2003 devices.
or, is your bluetooth on? it's possible that all sound is being rerouted to the headset. i think it's a bug for a lot of devices.
hope that helps.
cheers

Thanks for the reply.
Fring is the application in this instance (I wanted to use Skype over my 3G connection, but the Skype client itself is a no-go, unless you go back to an old version that only outputs via the speakerphone). As far as I can tell this happened after installing it.
Problem is, after uninstalling Fring and doing a soft reset, the problem remains. I figured maybe the issue is a registry setting or the like, but have no idea where. So I turn to all you knowledgeable people in the hope that the answer isn't "do a hard reset." :-|

[Q] Strange audio problems

I have a strange audio-related issue on my Droid Charge.
This doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, I can't seem to track down the cause. When these problems happen, they tend to all happen at the same time as far as I can tell.
I have two custom tones I use, one for the phone ringtone and one for my text message notification. They work just fine, but suddenly and without warning they will stop working. So if my phone rings, it is just totally silent. If I go in to the settings to select a ringtone and choose my custom one, it is dead silent. If I choose any of the other ones that are on my phone, they play with no problem.
I have google voice as my voice mail provider. Sometimes when I go to check my voicemail, I get an error message that says "failed to download recording" See image here: i.imgur.com/IeXNL.jpg sorry you'll have to copy & paste into your address bar - since I'm a new user I can't post links.
When I go to play music, I'll sometimes get the error that says "Error playing the requested track" See image here: i.imgur.com/JjXoG.jpg sorry you'll have to copy & paste into your address bar - since I'm a new user I can't post links.
And this happens with every song in my library (not that i've tested them ALL, but just randomly picking songs out of my list they will all fail in the same way.)
I've noticed that some audio will still work - for example, the sounds in the game "Word With Friends" still works. The sound in the game "FieldRunners" still works. However, the sound in "Angry Birds" does NOT. Also, My email notification (which is NOT a custom sound) still comes through no problem.
If I reboot my phone, everything works just fine right up until it decides to fail again - which could be ANY time - I've had it work fine for a few days before.
I had done some searching on these problems, but didn't really find many related posts (here & general google searching). I found one thread where people were talking about downloading and using SDrescan and it fixed their problems. I did that and it does not help.
I really hate missing calls because I can't hear them. (Fortunately I haven't missed too many.) Then when I do check, I can't hear the voice mail message the caller left from google voice (unless I go to the web interface - then it will play through Moboplayer, but not through the Music app)
I have Rooted and ROMmed my phone, but just FYI, I did have the problem with the ring tones when everything was stock (I just got the phone on July 2). I didn't even set up google voice mail or put music on my phone before I had rooted it. I am using the GummyCharged ROM (v1.9).
Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? Thank you - and let me know if any more information is needed to help diagnose this.
EDIT: I also just noticed that if I launch the amazon MP3 store, I cannot listen to any samples - there's no error message - the sample just never plays. The Amazon mp3 store player will also not successfully play any of my music that is stored locally - it just says "error playing song". I also have 2 songs stored in the amazon cloud - it will not play those, either and it gives the same message "error playing song."
EDIT: clarity and grammar - I'm typing like english is not my first language today
EDIT: fixed image links

Ringtone issues...Let's figure this out

I see a lot of people having issues with their ringtones not matching up to the right person. I have this issue too and would like to see if we can figure it out.
I looked in settings, applications, manage applications, all and found.
Ringtone Widget version3.0.2114243118.45466
Storage Total 16.00KB Application 16.00KB Data 0.00B Cache 0.00B
So there seems to be nothing to change there, as in delete data. My last few calls went something like this.
GF called with proper ringtone. Called from mobile
Mother called Played GF's ringtone not Mothers. Called from mobile
I called myself from home phone default ringtone (it's supposed to) Called from land line
Brother called played default not Brothers. Called from mobile
All of my ringtones are in a ringtone folder on SD card I use none of the ringtones that come with the phone. So all of the ringtones come from the same folder. I don't know if others are having this problem using the ringtones that come with the phone or if it's a custom ringtone problem. I do know there are different apps that could be loaded but don't know if the issues are in those apps too. Or if it's a VZW/HTC problem. I'm going to try to keep a log of calls, if they're from land lines or mobile, and if they're the proper ringtone or not. I'd like a few people to do the same and list their findings. Maybe we as a community can figure this out.
128 views and no one else has this issue. SMH
I just only started rooting a few weeks ago. This happened to me shortly after. A solution I figured out is this... When you mount your phone and someone calls that has a ringtone on the SD card, it jacks it up because the tone is not available with the SD card mounted. My solution: I moved all my alarm, notification, and ring tones to the phones root media folders. Problem solved! See if that solves your problem.
Sent by my Synergy boosted TB on XDA Mobile App
I've thought about doing this also. I started this thread in the hopes that 1. people that have this problem would chime in and maybe give a log of their calls and 2. I could go to a dev and see if the problem could be fixed. A lot of stock users have this problem too, Usually if a dev comes out with a fix then VZW will kang it and push it out via an update. As they did when Eris fixed the VM issue.
After the GB update I'm having the same issue. I checked the ringtone inside the contact and the configured ringtones are correct. So, my wife called and got default ringtone. My daughter called and got wife's ringtone. My other daughter called and got last daughter's ringtone, etc. I'm really not anxious to do a factory reset after it took me so long to get my phone the way I like it. Don't know what to do next. I'm sure if I call Verizon I'll be told I'm the 1st one with this issue just like I'm told with every issue I've brought to them.

I haven't checked here of late. But I think I've found the answer. Move your ringtones to media / audio / ringtones file on your SD card. You can just move the whole folder there if it's easier. I'm not sure if it's case sensitive or not I used all lower case. You will need to reset all of your ringtones. Hope it works for you.

[Q] Ringtone Help

Information: HTC Evo supersonic(4G)
ROM: Cyanogenmod 7 Build 256
Hello I'm having a strange isssue my phone has seemed to randomly selected a ringtone to play out of my mp3s out of no where, In sounds setting I have a ringtone selected to play, In individual contacts it is set to default for all contacts, no custom ringtones.... but it plays a mp3 out of my \Freemp3download\music folder, I renamed the mp3 which it was playing and now it plays nothing, What Apps would override the system settings and set a Ringtone/Missed Call. maybe it was overlooked by me but i dont see any programs in my Application\Running which would do such a thing. Thanks in advance for your help
I've seen this issue before on certain builds of CM on the Supersonic. I believe that the fix was to flash a different build, either newer or older. You can also try reflashing the rom over itself without wiping data, though I'm not sure if this will solve anything.
Good luck, hope you get it fixed

Question Can't use custom ringtone. POCO X3 PRO

Hi guys!
My problem is, i cant use custom ringtone and i dont know why and so ****ing frustrating.
So, i set my .mp3 file in settings - sounds and vibrations- ringtone.
But when someone calls me lollipop ringtone is ringing....
ROM is original 12.5.1
i bought 2 phone yesterday. 1.phone easy setup the mp3 file works good. 2. phone i setup the mp3 file and does not work.
any idea?
Can not help but have the same problem.
The only ones where work are those who were originally there.
Rom: newest did not now number Phone:6/128
Same here (two phones, one with the same problem). In the one with the problem, the configuration of an older Xiaomi phone was copied over (using BT) during the initial setup.
Did you have any success resolving this?
Try full wipe ( factory reset)
I read it on another forum and worked for someone.
Try app AirDroid from play store. It have function to set ringtone.
Did anyone solve this problem without using the factory reset?
This is the same for me. So annoying. All the system ringtones are crap. I've tried turning off miui in dev options but that didn't work and I don't want to do a hard reset. I've successfully set custom rtones for all my main contacts, that helps but it isn't the solution.
