can´t wipe data/ factory reset - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i had bootloops with my transformer ( revolverrom) so i want to go back to stock.
Meanwhile it seems to me that i had the reason:
every time i want to wipe cache data with clockmos recovery (3.2,0.1) there is a message:
error removing data/system /packages.xml
and the data are all there.
I think thats the reason for freeze + bootloop afterstarting .
Or is it maybe a hardware problem?
What can i do to find it out? If i flash revolver or ics rom i get freeze + bootloop seconds after the Mainscreen.
What can be the reason for no possible wipe data?I think it is the same reason as for the bootloops.
Kind regards- and sorry for my poor englisch
gandalf -
Of course i can trie do delete with rootexplorer- but that will be no solution of the fault-or am i wrong .

just my two cents, but can't you just flash the Super Wipe script from the Revolution ROM thread, and then flash your ICS ROM after doing that?
Also I've had problems with CWM Recovery on my Evo 4g, so I flashed Amon RA recovery and that seemed to do the trick for me. I'm not sure if it's available for the TF101, but like I said, this is just my two cents.
best of luck!

Problem flashing new roms/kernels [epic 4g running bakedsnack 1.0]

when i flash a new rom and kernel for that matter i got no confirmation like the first time i flashed a rom on the clockwork recovery.
i wipe and then try flashing and it says something really quick, so fast that i cant even read it, and then goes back to the first clockwork recovery menu and only says "clockwork recovery 2.5.1" or whatever number im running (which is the latest)
try again doesnt work, so i reboot and then it still says im running "bakedsnack 1.0" is that normal for it to say im still running that rom after a complete wipe? and it still has the roms background and satus bar, etc
please any help would be nice because im new to android and am looking forward to continuing my rom experience
running epic 4g have clockwork recovery and super user etc
Have you tried wiping both cache's and wiping the data 3 times ? There is the regular cache and then a davlik ( spelling may be off) cache in the advanced menu of clockwork's recovery. If that doesn't work, you could always try reinstalling the stock epic 4g rom and kernal through odin. I need to try that myself but hopefully one of those other options helps.

Problem wipe data/factory reset and restoring in CWM

I have a B90 so I cant nvflash but when i try to factory reset, i get an error saying error removing /data/data/.com....... and so on, same problem with restoring. I tried using the super wipe script and it goes through but factory resetting after still shows the same thing, any ideas?
You want restore an existing ROM or you like to flash something new after full wipe?
If you want to install new ROM then try what i tried and it worked for me.. i rooted stock ICS and right now running Revolver ICS... Link is below but read the instructions properly before you do anything... Good luck

[POTENTIAL FIX]Potential fix for leaked ICS flashing issues

I have been trying the new ICS ROMS and have an interesting observation to share. I have had many weird problems like the shutdown reboot issue, touch key lights staying on, force closes etc. The only time I had a clean install (without even the shutdown issue) was when I first used CWM to wipe everything and then used the stock (gingerbread) 3e recovery to perform another wipe before flashing a ROM. Anyone willing to try and confirm?
when u say another wipe using stock recovery, u mean just a factory reset, before reflashing cwm and then ics? becuz if so, ive tried that, and it was still hit and miss
CWM - wipe data, cache and system, Darkside superwipe, ODIN 3e, wipe cache and factory reset, ODIN CWM and flash. Works every time for me.

It seems like there isn't an easy fix that works for everyone (for the shutdown freeze bug anyways--this was the one problem I just couldn't get rid of until just a couple days ago). I had a theory that Darkside superwipe was screwing it up for me (the method you use as I've quoted was basically my method for wiping prior to flashing any roms, with the exception of using 3e recovery).
Seanzscreams new Sky ICS rom claims to have fixed the shutdown issue for good. I don't know if this is true for everyone but it seems to have worked for me.
What I do is:
Flash darkside x1
factory reset x5
wipe cache x5
wipe dalvik x5
format system x5
Flash radio
wait 1 minute
flash rom
wait 1 minute
reboot and don't touch phone for at least 10 minutes
I've noticed that some people go to the extreme when it comes to wiping....... Super extreme.
I've always in my YEARS of flashing roms (I got G1 on day one), I've always done just a simple format of data and cache. Normally don't get any unexplained errors or bad flashes.
LOT of the problems rise from users. Either installing something that is buggy or just not following directions.
Restoring backups is probably the BIGGEST CULPRIT OF ALL. Often times, people just restore files that they shouldn't. Adding themes, adding animations, boot animations blah blah blah...then blaming devs because so and so is not working.
I use restore but I'm selective about my restores. I don't just restore everything that I just backed up. Has NEVER caused me any problems.

Kernel Panic

hye everyone. i'm having an issue with the Gtab plus. its actually weird issue. it seems like i can't wipe data/ factory reset. or even flash a rom every time i try to do the above methods it success until i reboot my device everything come back. if i flashed a stock rom to the gtab plus it will be successful and when the device starts its like i didn't flash anything. i'v tried wipe data / caches from Touch CWM since its the only CWM that doesn't require reboot after flashing it using "update from sdcard from the stock recovery mode" and no success when the device restart everything back. i even formatted the Sdcard from the PC but yet if i reboot the device everything will be restored i'm like "OMFG" what is going on with this device. and most of the time its on Kernel PANIC stats. any help/advice ? what i should do ? because i have tried almost everything. and btw its still on stock 3.2
bump.

Did you buy this tablet new with 3.2 on it? It's possible you have EMMC memory failed which is a hardware fail that occurs when wiping memory on ICS.

[Q] Change recovery-Rom

HI, i have been having isues with my asus tf101 baterry, about one month ago it suddenly charge and discharges, like: 10%-25%-40%-70%-80%-100%...I made a factory reset but nothing. 2 weeks ago, it solved alone, without do anything, and was ok for 2 weeks, now again i have the problem..
i have installed cwm recovery, i want to change to android revolution rom, to see if the problem finish:
1 question: How i change from cwm to twrp recovery? installing twrp from cwm using a zip? is there no problem?? or downloading goomanager, installing recovery script?? Is there any problem to use cwm or twrp( i have read, to instal kk i dont use cwm)?
2 question, what rom is stable to try to solve this? i see kk 4.3 etc, but i just one my baterry works ok...
3 question, is there any way to clean absolutely the stock rom? i tried wipe cache, dalvik, factory reset(again) but nothing solve.
4 question, is possible to wipe ALL including system, and install the asus stock rom using zip¿?

Q1: I think you can just flash the new recovery via the current recovery if you have the new recover zip file.
Q2: Kat Kiss works fine for me.
Q3: If you want to completely return to stock, you would have to use NVFlash. There are tons of instructions on the Dev thread. I primarily use Tubuntu for flashing with NVFlash. [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995157]
You can find other images as well. I used a stock image once to RMA the tablet but now I'm not sure where I got it. This method will ensure that every bit in your memory is exactly as it left the factory. Including the bootloader, recovery partition and everything else.
Q4: Refer Q3.
Download flashable TWRP 2.6.3.11 zip for TF101:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/devd...ct/dl/?id=3280
You should use TWRP for KatKiss ROMs, do not use CWM
Flash that Zip from CWM then reboot fully into your current ROM, then reboot into Recovery to check it has flashed properly
From TWRP you can wipe everything and flash KatKiss & Gapps

Is this the same process for going from TWRP to TWRP? just "install" the newest version from recovery and do the reboots?

Yep, so long as you reboot into your ROM after flashing the new TWRP before booting back into recovery
Thanks for your reply, i will tray soon. So i want to clean the asus stock room to see if battery goes ok, i tried wipe data, cache, dalvik, with cwm, but nothing.
If i install twrp what more options can i try before change the rom? what more wipe do i need?? and finally, if i change the rom, is possible to go back to asus stock just flashing from recovery? or how should i do?
Apart from wiping the ROM (SYSTEM) there's not much else you can wipe, you could try wiping the same as you have already done, but from TWRP, see if that makes any difference, maybe the battery is coming to the end of its life
You can flash stock ASUS ROMs back again from TWRP yes, but you will wipe your recovery & ROM back to 100% stock by doing it
Best thing to do is to make a full Nandroid Backup from TWRP before flashing any custom ROMs, save it to MicroSD Card, then if you want to go back to the way it is now, just restore the backup from TWRP
That way you keep TWRP and can switch between as many ROMs as you like and always have your stock backup to go back to whenever you want
