Hi,
more problems I need help with.
my TF101 B70 has ICS on it. however I tried to uninstall busybox through busybox and it failed.
I wiped my TF101 and now ICS can't make a wireless connection and I'm using stock recovery and have no way of reflashing ICS.
I also can't get root, I've tried primetime and another.
I ideally want CWM so I can reflash a previous backup.
Help, can someone help

Can you clarify?
Your TF was stock rom, stock recovery, and rooted. You couldn't uninstall busybox.
So you wiped your TF. Was this a simple factory reset?
And now your TF is not connecting to wireless networks.
Shouldn't you still have root after the wipe?
Not sure what's going on with your root but as for connecting to wireless, try restarting your wireless router. It could be that your router's DHCP table just needs to be cleared out.
my TF has ICS on, stock rom and stock recovery and was rooted.
I uninstalled busybox and it failed midway and then I wiped using a simple factory reset.
now, my TF cannot connect to wireless networks, and my root insn't working properly.
I've tried to connect over tethering using my phone and it won't connect to that either says obtaining IP over and over again.

Idk. Stuck on obtaining IP usually means it's the router or tether host that is not properly assigning an IP address to your device. And it's normally fixed by restarting the router or tether host to clear out the DHCP table. This happens when there's a change to the OS or drivers on your device. Whenever I switch between OSes on my laptop, I have to restart my router so it forgets the old settings it had for my laptop's mac address or else I just get stuck on obtaining ip.
If this isn't the case, I have no idea.
You did do a coldboot after the factory reset right?
yes and reset the router
Try reinstalling busybox?
it says I have no root

damn that sucks.
Probably the more knowledgeable members will have an answer to this.
I think you can still manually gain root access through ADB.
Your B70 isn't one of the lucky few that has sbk1?
I ran across this also I had to copy su in system/bin to system/xbin rebooted then used root installer

how much do you think an RMA would cost to fix this?

Just shipping. You have B70 so you still have warranty on it. Just tell Asus that your TF's wireless stopped working after upgrading to ICS. They won't even look. They will simply reflash your TF and mail it back to you.
You can't use the method posted by jmcdonald58? Pretty sure you can recover root through ADB.
I've tried to root over adb, but it can't see items like CHMOD even though they are present in the system
Hi all,
Fixed the problem, thanks to Asus.... they released "today" the WW_epaduser9_2_1_11UpdateLauncher.zip
I ran this through stock recovery and it's sorted everything.
Happy. need to cancel that RMA now

Hi all,
I am kind of new to the whole Android scene. I need a little help updating my phone. I recently rooted it on 2.2.19.a955. I uninstalled several stock apps, 3G Wifi Hotspot, the Amazon stuff, and something else. I was able to reinstall everything but the 3G Wifi Hotspot. Can't seem to find an apk or recover it or anything.
When I tried to update, it gives me an error saying that it is unable to update.
I am not sure what it is. I think the missing apps or the root is preventing me from updating.
Please help!
Thanks.

Im having the same issue
I also removed some of the bloat and when my OTA update failed I reinstalled all of it from the system dump found in another thread on this forum (it won't let me post a link). I checked all my permissions and made sure they were 644 but my update is still failing on Mynet.apk. I have checked it; it is there and its permissions are 644. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

You could always just flash back to the stock system with the .sbf released in "The Bomb" you probably used to root. Once you do that youve lost root but back to stock then do the OTA update, re-root, and also have your bloat back... Its a little lengthy but Google and your sd card have most everything backed up for you anyway.

Still having trouble figuring out how to install mynet.apk. I downloaded the file, but I am unsure what to do now.
You have to use adb to install system apps. So, something like:
- put Mynet.apk in your sdk tools folder
- Open command prompt
- cd c:/wherever-your-sdk-tools-folder-is
- adb devices (to verify the connection)
- adb remount
- adb push Mynet.apk /system/app/Mynet.apk
- adb remount
As a note, I updated to 2.2.20 with root but without removing apps.
If you do use the snf from The Bomb, what is that other file out of curiosity?
Thanks Karnovaran.
Is there anything I need to do with the opek file? I followed your steps generally and I am still not getting anything.
So... I followed your directions. I put Mynet.apk in the folder. Ran ADB, copied the file to the sdcard. Mounted. Ran rageagainstthecage. Copied the Mynet.apk to the apps folder on the system. Same with the odex file, and remounted, and exited, but still nothing...
I was able to flash my phone using the files from the RootzWiki bomb. Flashed it successfully. Now it doesn't have a connection to the Verizon network. No data service. Not sure about phone service though.

You probably need to dial *22899 from your phone before it will get back on the Verizon network.
Does the ota contain something that is really needed. I am debating if I want to unroot just for the ota. Hopefully some one figure away to give us an update that remains rooted.

DROID 2 Receiving Minor Update, Now Allows for User Initiation
On 08.21.10, In News, by Kellex
Share3
If you own a Droid 2, you should be receiving a minor update over the next couple of days and in fact, there is a pretty good chance that you have already been prompted to install it. The update, although minor, does fix a couple of things which will enhance your D2 experience…
Improvements:
+ Enabled text and picture message scrolling.
+ Streamlined set up of Visual Voice Mail feature.
+ Improved contact sync with Corporate Exchange categories
and groups.
+ View accurate contact pictures when reviewing Recent Call Log.
On a related note, it looks like Verizon may be allowing user initiated updates for their new Droid family member. If you check out their update installation instructions, there are now 2 types of software loading: user initiated and server initiated. We also just received this shot which shows that manual updates could start as early as last night, and OTA server initiated updates will start on the 24th if users have not already gone through the process…
After the update you will be running version 2.2.20.en.us.
Via: Verizon Wireless
Cheers Mitch and Shawn!
2.2.20 is root-able, so if you really want it you can do the sbf flash and grab the update before rooting. I don't think we'll be seeing any custom updates for the D2. Let's just thank our lucky stars the sbf showed up.

Darn, wish I knew that before I factory resetted my phone. Do you know this for a fact?
Yes a factory reset is necessary...I just flashed my phone this morning with the sbf and I connected to verizon network but it would not connect to any data connection 3g or 1x, nothing so a factory reset took place and it works almost better than before for some reason lol..my internet connection seems to be more stable and reception is a little better and I've done* 22899 before I rooted and flashed back and this time around its just working better idk..but back to the topic at hand if u* 22899 it will connect you to verizon network but no 3g or anything

Did you try *228? Maybe might have been a better way to go. But thank you for trying.
If you can't update or anything flash an sbf. Isn't hard.
If you are rooted and need to sbf, I used the droid bootstrap recovery to wipe my cache and data, then flashed the sbf from the bootloader (turn the phone all the way off, and hold the up arrow as you power on). Made it a lot easier, and fixed all the errors I was having

Hey guys,
I'm having a problem turning Bluetooth on on my TF300. I am on the latest stock Asus JB 4.2.1 build on my device, with root access. My device is working fine with WiFi, but when I go to the top right hand corner and try to turn on Bluetooth, it won't work. I try to pull the bar from off to on in the settings and goes immediately back to off.
I wasn't having any issues with Bluetooth before, but to be honest I probably haven't tried it since this latest update.
I want to retain root access, as I'm not sure there's a way to get it back without unlocking the bootloader, which I don't want to do yet.
My warranty expires in about a month, so if I need to send it in for repair that's okay.. but Im hoping it can be corrected without that.
To my knowledge, both the WiFi and Bluetooth are on the same radio, so both should work, right?
Anyways... I've tried cold booting... that didn't do anything. So I'm out of ideas...
Is there something I can do in terminal to restart the Bluetooth service? Do you think I got a corrupted OTA update?
All help is greatly appreciated.

why dont you just reinstall stock asus firmware and retain root with ota rootkeeper????? that seems like it might fix it if its a minor software issue

I bet it was just the factory reset that fixed it. Did you think about that?? I seriously doubt this guy needs to rma his device for what seems to be a minor software issue. Try a data wipe and reflash firmware. Try some things first before you waste time sending it into Asus

I thought OTA Rootkeeper only retains the root if you install the Asus Firmware Over-The-Air? If I download the firmware from the Asus support site and reflash it, won't I lose root access?
I'm just asking... because my device is working fine now.
I ended up cold booting a few more times, wiped the dalvik cache... and magically Bluetooth started working again.
You have to be rooted and go into system/vendor/lib and right hold the libbt-vendor.so file.
You have to change permissions and set
owner r/w
group r
others r
and save. It's set to read only for some reason. Strangely enough though I did this and it still did not fix it. But I read somewhere that this is supposed to fix it. I'm new to File Explorer though so maybe I'm doing something wrong. Also when I reset it the file was still read only for some reason. I'm also posting this to see if someone can fix this. I know I read about the actual steps somewhere but don't remember where that thread was.
Otherwise like everyone else said wait for OTA. I think ASUS has even admitted to this bug.
So, after I flashed Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 for my Tab 2, it cannot connect to my wifi. Charge your tab to aprox 70% or more and Try this:
1-download a STOCK firmware file from the internet for your region( the region thing is not necessary, but just for the sake of it )
2- boot into recovery
3- wipe data/flactory reset
4- wipe cache
5-wipe dalvik

7- boot into download mode and flash the STOCK firmware file using ODIN.
i am assuming you have used ODIN before in this case... if you have not, then:

3-connect the device ( in the text box, it should say added)

I don't think its a ROM related issue. There must be some issue with your router itself... try resetting your router and change WPA/WPA2 password once...and reconnect again with new password. give me a feedback so that i can help you further.

I am having the same issue for about a week now. It does not appear to be router related, or software related either.
We have two P3113 tablets in the house, and when mine went wonky - set my daughter's with same software and her's connects without issue.
Rooted, not rooted, stock recovery or custom. Stock software from 4.0.4 to 4.2.2 and custom ROM's as well. Currently running CM 11 on both. One connects while the other does not
I think it may be hardware related

Your problem might be related to duplicated mac addreses. Could you check if both tabs have different mac addresses.
This also counts for all others, check if there are no other devices with the same mac.
When I was building CM for both my Xperia L & Tab, they both got the same mac address because they where build on tbe same host.

This also counts for all others, check if there are no other devices with the same mac.
When I was building CM for both my Xperia L & Tab, they both got the same mac address because they where build on tbe same host.
Tapatalked that sh*t

Mac addresses are different. There is an issue with the IP address on the one that does not connect. It is blank by default, and manually inputting the address does not help
Thanks for the response
