I've used "ClockworkMod" and got errors, sometimes it doesn't do a good job wiping/formatting and mounting the sd in recovery doesn't work too good.
Never got those problems using "AmonRa_3.06_Recovery_ThunderG"
I want to flash CWM 5.0.2.0 on my Friend's LG Optimus P500.
We have rooted the phone yesterday.
Can you tell me the steps used to flash this recovery as I have flashed it on my Galaxy Ace but don't have any knowledge regaring O 1.
Is it safe ?
Reply would be appreciated

Does LG O1 does not come with its inbuilt recovery as we can then just flash the CWM from it, I use Samsung Galaxy Ace and we have Stock recovery in it and I flashed CWM from there only.
amon_ra 3.06 is the most stable and convenient..in flashing and in backup..

That depends on what rom it has installed,
old baseband = froyo stock rom or custom rom based on that baseband
new baseband = gingerbread stock rom or custom roms based on it
What rom dose your frend have installed and if gsm is working on that rom,
if is a custom rom just search to see what baseband is that rom using and youll know,
What is the shortcut to go in amonra recovery it is the same as clockwork mod Power+Volume+Home ?

Hi Guys..!!!
You guys are so great, doing all those development, tweaks, porting and all that...
:good: Great job..!!!
But here I just got stuck in my stock ROM...
:crying: Please help me to get out of this boring situation.
ABOUT MY PHONE:
Model Number : LG P500
Android Version : 2.2.2
Kernel Version : 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build Number : FRG83
Software Version : V10e-MAR-28-2011
My device is rooted.
Please suggest me what to do???
It's rooted, good. Next steps are to install custom recovery, and flash a ROM. You need to decide which custom recovery to use (I think most use CWM), and most importantly which ROM to use. You want CM7? CM9? CM10? Some variant? MIUI?
Other thing to consider is that you're currently on old baseband (V10e). You will probably need to upgrade to new baseband (V20) to use most ROMs. Do this by using the official LG update tool.
Edit: Use LG update tool to upgrade baseband before you flash new ROM.
Also, read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1152306

To upgrade to new baseband (V20), I need to download P500-v20G-baseband.7z OR P500-v10E-baseband.7z
v10 = old baseband
v20 = new baseband

So your installation via ROM manager isnt working
so you'll have to do it via your pc or fastboot
just read the instructions properly
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-install-a-custom-recovery-to-an-android-phone-device/
or i would suggest you follow the method posted by post-mortem,
i think you will find this method easier
Get this app: Flash Image GUI. Also get the recovery zip file of your choice from this page, and extract the file "recovery.img" from it. The recoveries in that link are only of Optimus One. If you are following this for another device, use a supported recovery and get it's *.img file. Put it on your sd card. Run the app, select recovery image, and browse to the .img file on your sdcard. The app will flash the recovery. This will work on the O1/Optimus T. This will also work on the Optimus V/M according to app's market page, but if you have any problems you can also try method 'd' given below.

custom recoveries are the base for rooting and installing custom roms. I am quite surprised by how you managed to root successfully without installing a custom recovery.
My kind advice dont do anything without proper knowledge.

u can find all ur answers here in the xda forums
so read well before u flash
no dude , I got the cwm rom manage from the play store.. the trouble comes when I try to set up "custom recovery".. the thing is , cwm doesn't support my device and it requires me to manually install a cwm based recovery.. which I don't know how to do.. so any instructions on how to do that (or some alternative to cwm ) would be really helpful
thanks

You don't need kernel or cwm. Both are included in cm ROM.

Remove battery and place it back (turn off),
put your phone into download mode (vol down-home then power)
odin
place all the stock rom files (pit, ....)
start
and also I suggest you don't go for the CM11 yet, because it has some bugs as I tried it.
There are better stable roms for SL here.

Hello, first of all I'm a super newbie on this A have a bunch of questions.
-I tried to root my HTC evo 3d 3 or 4 days ago and i did it without any issues. Then installed Cyanogen Mod 10.4 (jellybean) on my device. Now i want to update it to Cyanogen Mod 11. Does it woth it? or should I stay in my current version.
-I read the threat about Cyanogen Mod 11, it seems i need to install TWRP first, my current recovery mod is ClockworkMod v6.0.0.0. Is there anything else before i install TWRP or can I just downlaod it and then install like Clockwork?

OK, is your deviced branden? May be got it through a special provider? Or us it an unbranden model?
Found possible fix! First install UpdateSuperSu1.93.zip AND then install suggested rom.

If that doesn't work its getting a little complicated. Means you have to install a <4.4 rom and install 4ext updater (installs 4ext recovery) from plystore and then you ca install >4.4.
Updating HBOOT will not help!

STOP SHOUTING! and read the post above, that is the solution, everyone who's still s-on needs to do that, it's well documented in this forum. Search, read. If that's too much for you, you shouldn't have messed with your phone in the first place.

Hi guys,
I'm experiencing the same issue with cm-11-20140614-UNOFFICIAL-saga from devil-kin. Even after I manually flash the boot.img file (fastboot flash boot boot.img) the phone just resets back into recovery, which I do find strange. Using the latest 4EXT recovery and latest version of Hboot.

Do you know which panel type you have? Have you had a jb / kk rom booting OK on your phone before?
Edit: check this thread about panel type:

I used the one included in the .zip file with the ROM.

1) I used Fallout v5.0 and it's working just fine
2) My panel is made by Sony
And you formatted all partitions (except sd card) before installing? Also what version of 4ext do you have exactly?
Edit: fallout is ics (Android 4.0), not jb (Android 4.1-4.3) or kk (Android 4.4)

1) Formatted everything possible except the SD card, before flashing the CM11 ROM
2) 4EXT v2.2.7_RC5 (I tried the latest RC Touch version but no luck there)
3) Hboot 7.00.1002 | Reengineered 2.00.002
Let me know if you need more info to help me out here, because I'm really out of options at this point and I'm stuck with Fallout. Not that it's bad but I found some stuff from the HTC part that drive me crazy + a lot of BGround activities so I had to disable some of the apps.

I do not know how to work with the Touch version, as it's something that is working while you have a working Android, but when I flash a new one and then the new boot how should I do this?
Is there a guide on how to? (using the touch version of 4EXT)
Latest 4ext recovery and twrp have support for selinux which is needed for flashing KK, and they are both touch. Try on youtube to find some tutorial.

Instead of using volume keys and power key you will yse your touchscreen, and flashing a recovery and boot.img will be the same as withyour old recovery....

Sorry but it still want's to restart into the old recovery and then proceed with the new flash of the ROM. I'm out of guesses on how to use this app. Without a guide I'm lost.
I now saw that I got an Error | status7 Installation aborted. - what could that be?
Status 7 error is due to the recovery being too old.
please

Could some one make a quick guide on the steps that we need to make in order to install a ROM with the touch version of 4EXT? I know that for some of you guys this will be like.. a small thing to do, but having something to follow and knowing which option to choose is very helpful and will help a lot of people.

To make nandroid backup
1) boot recovery
2) backup/restore
3) backup (select it to backup)
Thats u done.
To flash a rom
1) wipe/format
2) format all partitions except sdcard
(Once thats done go back to main menu)
3) install from sdcard
4) choose zip from sdcard
5) select ur rom to install it
(if rom requires u to flash gapps then do it straight after u flash the rom)
6) reboot
(if ur s-on then ul need to boot straight into fastboot after u flash the rom and flash the boot.img)
Hope that helps ya. Simples really.
