[Q] Headset microphone not working, CM 7.1, inspiremod 0.5, lordmodUEv8.6-CFS-INSPIRE - HTC Inspire 4G

Cyanogenmod 7.1 stable, only phone mic works even tho headset is recognized as a headset and not headphones, worked on stock.
I installed the inspiremod 0.5, and the headset microphone was still not working.
Then I went on getting a new kernel, lordmodUEv8.6-CFS-INSPIRE as it supports dual mic.
Ok I ended up with a damn awesome phone, but the only flaw being headset mic is just not working...
Am I missing something to get the dang headset microphone to work?
Anyone?

Just to be sure it's a phone issue...
Have you tested the microphone on another device to confirm that it works?
(I had a pair of headphones that coincidently quit playing out of the left ear the same night that I rooted my phone and flashed Ice Cold Sandwich 2.0.0... it wasn't till I tried the headphones in my laptop that I was sure it wasn't an issue with the phone)

I upgraded to nightly 260 plus same kernel and inspiremod, the mic now works.

Seeing old post, and I wonder if I might have this issue in jellytime, havent used the headset in a while..

my og droid and droid 2 and incredible did not do this. I was able to take the call with an aux cable plugged in. The mic would work and I was able to use my phone over my car speakers. The thunderbolt disables the mic if the aux cable is not 4 pole, as in has a mic. The only solution I have found is to buy http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...49206&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2617wt_1141
I used this in both my cars with the thunderbolt and it works perfectly.
Is this something that can be fixed by the ROM/Kernel developers?
Here's a fix!
Okay guys so here's a work around that I've been using for a while and I don't really remember where I saw it so I'm sorry for not giving proper credit. So you go to Home>Settings>Call>TTY mode> and pick "TTY VCO". The only negative thing is that you're gonna have a few extra icons up there in the notification bar but you get used to them right away.
Does that disable the ability to change in-call volume?
No issue here on Das Bamf Remix 1.7
I've been running Das Bamf Remix and since a few versions ago (1.6 I believe) I have not noticed this issue -- calls work fine with headphones.
I'm pretty damn sure this was fixed, or supposed to be fixed with MR1. Ever since I upgraded to an MR1 based ROM, the issue went away for me. It also fixed video chat. The issue is related to something software based with having 2 noise cancelling mics. Basically, they were cancelling each other out.
Can anyone PM me on how to get needed software to root plz? If asked a few with no responses. Tried one click option but cannot get galaxysense Rom because link 404's

I just tried this on bamf 2.0-5 and I still have the problem. The mic turns off when headphones are plugged in.
This has been addressed, but not thoroughly. It works sometimes, but not all the time and its very irritating when it doesn't work. Maybe when the June 30th update comes in. That's wishful thinking though. My dinc, iphone, droid, all the way back to my touch pro had this functionality.
This has been strange for me to and I posted about it in the bamf kernel thread. Some headphone mics work and some don't. The same mic that doesn't work on my phone works on other non htc phones.

I've run stock, rooted, Das BAMF 1.4 - 2.0.5, and preview4. Every single one cuts off the mic if I have headphones in. Very frustrating. I took to buying headsets with built-in mic. Unfortunately, they all seem to last about 3-4 weeks before going bad and randomly hitting play/next/back on my audio book app. I've gone back to standard headphones and would LOVE to be able to leave them in and use the built-in mic.

[Q] HTC Desire headset not working

Hi, I've recently upgraded my Desire Rom to gingerbread and now my headset doesn't work. Tried original equipment and aftermarket headphones and the sound still comes out of the onboard speaker when playing music. Phone works normally. Can anyone help?

are u talking about Handsfree not working with ur Desire?
handsfree and music, headphones don't work at all. It's like they're not even plugged in!
I experienced the same thing today.
Upgraded my HTC Desire to Gingerbread. I have never rooted my device. Nor used custom roms. Always stock.
The GB upgrade was provided by HTC herself.
Today I want to use my stock headphone but my desire doesn't even detects the jack beeing inserted. Also FM radio complaines about inserting the headphone in order to use the antenna fo receiption.
With FroYo I used my headphone numerous times without any problem.
Since GB it lookes like it isn't even connected.
But... first place to complain about this would be HTC I think.
Just wanted to let you know you're not the only one.
I had the same problem, but on Froyo. I found rebooting solved it.
Working now
Hi all,
don't know why but my headset works now. I have done nothing, it just started working.
Volume is low though.
Probably useless, but have you tried with different headphones?

Headphones issue after ICS RUU

Hi,
This is my first post after months of reading and waiting for the ICS RUU. I've installed it and no issues rose for me, just a strange behaviour with the headset I've always successfully used with my DS. Now when i have a phone call the mic part of the headset is not working, the person at the other end doesnt hear me, anyone has the same problem?
Thanks!

Here no headphones mic problem...(me too with official ICS ruu update).
i have no problem on that but what my problem after official ICS RUU i had a very low in-call volume the volume before i update it to official ICS is OK, but now i cant hear any call when the environment is a bit noisy. Had check my setting of the volume is "MAX".
Ive just tried again the stock headset (found it in the phone box) and mic works...funny I'm wondering why it doesn't catch the mic with the diddy beats, It's a metal connector and it worked fine on GB...It would be nice to know if there's a mic setting flag somewhere in Android when you plug in a headset...

Even I am facing headphone issue after ICS RUU upgrade. My headphone mic doesnt respond during call's. Someone pls can suggest..
Had a problem with my hands-free 's mic also, even before the RUU to ICS.
So I take it I might harmed the thing.
Yet, the ear-buds worked just fine and I was able to listen to radio and music.
Now, there is no radio or music coming from the hands-free set *or* any other headset I use.
At first, I thought it must be the jack hole. It could be destroyed somehow. Humidity, or something else.
But I tested them with a call, and they were working just fine.
(The incoming audio, anyway...)
So, there is not a hardware problem with it, or the headphones. (I wonder if there is any problem with the hands-free set, also...)
That leads us to the assumption that there is some kind of bug (or something) in the software part of the phone.
I would be curious to find out more, since the vast majority of my phone's SD card is filled with music and pod-casts.

[Q] Headset not fucntioning in call mode at all!!

Hi all,
I have successfully rooted and flashed Paranoid Android 2.54 onto my ATT HOX and it is a wonderful ROM for sure. I love the options that it provides and the silky smooth, almost stock interface. The only real issue that I have come across is when I try to use a headset for calls. I am defining a headset as a 3.5mm plug in set of earbuds with mic (Klipsch S4i to be exact). When I listen to music, be it on Pandora, Google Music or Apollo all is well. As soon as I try to use the phone, no sound comes through the earbuds and the mic does not function. In fact you can see a noticable slow down in the dialer app when the headset it even plugged in. If I make a call, then plug in the headset, everything goes silent and the other side can't hear me until I unplug the headset from the phone.
Here is the real kicker though! I have my car stereo modded with an aux 3.5mm plug for listening to music and if I plug the phone into that it works just fine in phone mode! Now, I do realize that the Klipsch is setup as a TRRS and the car aux is just TRS (so when using the car stereo I am effectively bypassing the mic portion of the 3.5mm plug and using the phone's mic), but I cannot for the life of me understand why the headset will not work.
I am hoping that someone can enlighten me or least tell me that they to are experiencing this same issue. I will gladly provide any more info that someone might need to help diagnose the issue, and thanks in advance!
Update so far...
So, up to this point here is what I've found. If I plug in a normal set of earphone (read buds only no mic inline) then I will get sound through them no matter what I am doing (youtube, music or phone). Also, in this configuration anyone I am talking to on the phone can hear me just fine as I am using the phone's mic. However, when I plug in an earbud/mic combo the phone will not function. I get silence and the other side cannot hear me speaking either. It's as if the software has somehow told the headphone jack to act differently than it used to with earbud/mic combos. I am stumped as to why the OS would not allow this type of use when it is so standard. Anyone have any thoughts?
I actually have the same headset and I started having problems with it on the stock rom before I even rooted and flashed a custom one. I honestly just thought it was because they're really made for apple phones. Sometimes I'll just unlplug and plug them back in for them to register. Other than that I haven't seen a fix for them.
P.S. Klipsch control from the play store seemed to make things worse for me

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I think I am going to try another ROM just to see if it will help, but I have the distinct feeling it might be a hardware issue. I just can't understand why this would all the sudden malfunction right after rooting for me. Maybe just a coincidence. I will definitely respond here though if flashing to a new ROM helps...

I've never tried paranoid but King kang(which has paranoid elements) works fine for the most part. nocturnal'd dirty rom, miui, and cm10 have all worked for me tho. I'm currently on the unofficial cm10.1 4.2 and that's working for me as well, except when I have the headset plugged in while booting.
Final Update....And SUCCESS
So, it appears that it was some sort of ROM specific issue. I flashed CleanROM 5.1 to my phone and "wah-lah"! The headset works perfectly in all modes. I am not sure what it was about Paranoid Android 2.54 that would not allow the headset/mic combo to work with the phone, but I am free of it now I guess. I will miss the interface of PA, but boy does CleanROM run FAST!!! I am in awe of the speed and responsivness. I hope the battery life holds up like PA did for me and I also think that the quick settings on CleanROM basically RULE.

[Q] Headphone problem in d2vzw

I'm having some issues with the Galaxy S3 headphone jack.
I was running stable CM 10.1.2 and everything seemed to run perfectly.
I used to use my headphones regularly but stopped for about 2-3 weeks, then I tried using my headphones at the gym and that's when I noticed the problem.
I can play music just fine in the car using the aux cable, but when I use headphones, the sound is very distorted.
I've tried three different pairs of headphones. All of them work perfectly fine with my other devices, so the issue is definitely not the headphones.
I have checked the DSP Manager settings, and don't have any EQ's or anything set up.
I updated my modem to MF1 and put CM 10.1.3 RC2, but that didn't solve the problem.
I'm having trouble figuring out whether this is a software or a hardware issue.
Anybody have an idea of what could be the problem here and how I can fix it?

The latest versions of android (i.e. jelly bean) are experiencing a lot of weird stuff with the audio. I know I've had serious problems with bluetooth audio being distorted and have yet to find a fix. Some people have said the latest CM 10.1 nighties have a fix. My suggestion would be to check that out.
