You can't flash Rom with s-on you need to run ruu from pc to revert back to normal provide some more information about ur phone.

Is there a way to flash Rom similar to My EVO 3d with s-on ie, flash boot.IMG thru fastboot and then flash rom?

Revolutionary will definitely work with ur hboot you can see I have same hboot I got soff via revolutionary. There r chances u get error msg. Try to boot ur phone and pc reconnect it will work. Best thing I suggest get soff first rather then messing around.

I tried about 4 times with revolutionary do you think I might need to make a gold card to prevent it checking Cid?
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using xda premium
U don't need gold card for sensation.

So I updated my Sensation to 2.3.4 and now I'm just wondering if I have an unlocked bootloader on my phone. Did the OTA give me an advantage to go and root my Sensation?
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Nope
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e
So then how do I go about rooting it. I don't know if I have S-off or not.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Turn off phone. Hold down lower volume and press power. Then youll see your bootloader screen and look and see if it says s-on.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e
Mine says locked, so yeah the OTA does not unlock your phone.
Do NOT unlock it. You warrenty will be void and HTC will know.
S OFF, flash CWM, then flash su

All he was asking was if the ota gave him s-off. Thats not gonna happen. The only way your gonna inform htc that you soff is buy them through there website. Just soff through alpharev and root flash radio update and youll be good. There is the direction thread in stickies ok. Kids these days

You would first have to extract the rom from the ruu file and then extract the hboot from that. Idk if it is in a flashable form tho...

Got to ask, why would you want to ?
Because I am trying to send the phone back to HTC. When I rooted the phone is used the revolutionary method. Now after installing the stock Ruu and thanks using the phone back to s-on it says locked in bright pink letters. After reading the forums it says i have to flash the stock hboot from the stock RUu
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
wouldn't just running your stock ruu flash everything back to how it was? hboot and all
I have tried that it did until I updated the ota then now it says locked in the pink lettering and the hboot is 1.7.000

If you use revolutionary to S-OFF your device it will have hboot 1.17 (from my own experience)
You can only change cid if your hboot is S-OFF
So unlocking the bootloader is not s-off that's just onlocking the recovery

If you want to change your cid you need to have an unlocked bootloader by S-OFFING your hboot
But why do you even want to change your cid?

So I can install a custom Rom

No need to supercid for custom roms, since they don't have cid checking. Just s-off and flash a recovery

Hi,
Please follow THIS THREAD
Take the Rom.zip file that you have flashed and you will need to go to your pc or laptop and unzip it and then it will create a folder and then you will open that folder and scroll down and you will see a folder that will say kernel open it and you will see a file called boot.img you will copy it to the same folder that you have your adb and fastboot drivers in and then open up your cmd and type your commands to get your fastboot driver's working and then typ fastboot flash boot boot.IMG press enter and then type fastboot reboot and watch the magic
sent from my HTC sensation 4g using xda premium
And to flash those rom's you have listed you will need to flash the correct firmware and you need to have s off first before you can flash ics rom's
sent from my HTC sensation 4g using xda premium
But what exactly do i type in command line prompt to get the fastboot driver working
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Man use the same method you used when you rooted your phone
sent from my HTC sensation 4g using xda premium
I didnt need command to root it
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
fastboot flash boot [your boot.img location]
i think youd bettery make your phone s-off.
The instuctions are in the first post I sent you oh about six post down read it the answer's are there

You want to have s-OFF not on.
Soff you will have more capability. So you will want to s off
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
can you please follow the extra 1 step ..from the link given by malybru(2nd or 3rd post i think) ..atleast you will come out of bootloop after that ..then you can try SOFF or whatever
I turned s off and I flashed ordroid v9 and it was stuck on the white HTC screen. It turned black for like three seconds then returned to the HTC boot screen.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Did you follow the thread that malybru linked to? I am on hboot 1.27 and s-on and I can flash every ICS rom out there that supports firmware 3.32-3.34, which is by far the most, if not all.
And thank you malybru for pointing me in the right direction.

what do you mean you turned s off? Did you follow the procedure to s off the device because s off is not a button you can turn off. It is a procedure to disable security. Once your s off you can flash without trouble. Please read the link provided to the procedure. If you are s off you should not have these issues.
Sent from my Sensation using xda premium
Yes I followed the procedure and now I have s off. When I flashed ordroid it didn't even reach the beats audio boot screen as I said before it shows the.white HTC logo screen, turns black, then goes back to the HTC screen.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Are you supercid? Maybe try that if youre not yet
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk
Did you use the correct 3.32 firmware? If
Not thats the issue. All ics roms must have 3.32 firmware.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
1. RUU back to latest stable, that way you have all of the proper bootloaders and radios.
2. Follow numerous guides in dev section about S-Off and flashing the correct firmware.
3. Flash recovery.
4. Flash rom of your choice.
Should get it all taken care of for you. Good luck! :cyclops:
Finally I got it to work on ordroid so I can tell the changes (volume, settings, etc) but when I go home it says loading then says 'unfortunately, HTC has stopped"
Then I return to my previous launcher. THIS ISN'T OVER
