Disable Car mode ICS - T-Mobile LG G2x

Does anybody know how to disable carmode in ICS. It seems to active randomly.

Titanium Backup>Back up Car Home>Uninstall>Reboot>Enjoy.

Are you sure? That is how you did it in 2.x android but I don't see anything related to car dock or car home in Ti backup at all. It seems different with ice cream sandwich, that's why I posted the question.

My TB directory seemed to change when I installed HFS. Double check in TB. Car Home may have installed from your GB backup if you did more than apps

I only restored user apps after flashing the ICS rom. I did a filtered search in TB and can find no app with the word car in it. Very curious. I might try searching using root explorer

[Q] Screen on while charging

I have done some searching around here. Either I'm a total no0b (there is a chance for that) or it isn't posted here.
I just flashed to Serendipity 5.0 and some other roms before that. None of the roms I've flashed had this option. It was only in the stock rom.
Is there a way to keep the screen on while charging?
Thank you.
I believe that was only a 2.1 eclair option.
I've never seen it in any of the 2.2, 2.2.1 ROMs that everything is based on right now
Captisent via XDA App
Kind of what I thought.
I was wondering if there was an app or something that I didn't know about that would be able to do that. Kind of like what was done to keep the lights on for the menu keys.
I haven't seen that option in any of the 2.2 or 2.2.1 based ROMs that I have tried, but the program (and associated widget) that I used with stock for this function still works and keeps the screen on - not just while charging, but at least you can trigger it on and off easily.

What app are you using for this? I use the "Screen On" app, but I'm not quite a fan...

I use the app "Screen ON Widget" as it's called in the market. I don't actually use the widget, I just keep the program shortcut handy and it toggles on/off with a notification bar icon... no reason to be notified by a widget too.

[Q] Can these apps be safely removed?

Can I SAFELY delete the following apps as root.
Places
Reader
Calendar (using a different one)
Car Panel
Friend Stream
HTC Likes
HTC Hub
Thanks
Yes, you can delete them. If you are using Ti Backup, freeze them all and use your phone. If there are no ill side effects you can defrost them and then uninstall.
Just don't try to delete the stock messaging app. I tried that once

how about the Stock and Twitter app that came with it.

No, its a very dangerous procedure. Make sure you wear your fire suit and oxygen mask when doing so. If you start to hear beeping, run, run as fast as you can in the opposite direction and don't look back.

I don't use the beep method any more... I find a canary bird works much better.. if the bird drops dead.... RUN!!!

Can we put main SGS i9000 apps on SGS 4G?

Hi guys,
I'm using Valhalla 1.1 and I saw a friend of mine with a localized SGS i9000 (using another 2.3.4 ROM).
I wonder if I can take some of the main applications from him and replace the ones on my SGS 4G, I'm talking about :
phone, contacts, calendar, messaging, alarm, memo, music player etc. (it bothers me because I have non english contacts).
I know i was able to take memo from redux froyo and use with Valhalla 1.1 through Titanium backup & restore.
Thanks in advance.
Itzik.

No, you can't it will infinite bootloop.
alarm, memo and music may work work, but its a long shot. just try it out and see. the worst that can happen is you go in a bootloop, as air said. just make a nandroid and reflash if anything. no biggie.
OK, 10X, so i have another question, how do i make applications like Desk Home and Car Home (consoles/portals) arriving with stock ROM launch Dialer One instead of the stock phone app? They don't let me choose between...

Touchstone - how to NOT auto load clock when docking

Hi guys,
The touchstone is great, works very well, but for some reason CM7 XRON 2.9.1 automatically starts either my clock or gentle alarm when I dock.
Is there any way to stop this happening? I cant see any setting for that. I will also ask in the CM7 XRON thread... as it may be an issue with that rom.
Tx
Mark.
When I read the title, I thought this was a "how-to" post showing success.
The only thing I can find is the setting to turn off the dock sound in android.
I am more interested in a way to disable exhibition mode in webOS. I think its cool, but when you have a case, that covers the screen its pointless. So, I was hoping a preware package for that.

The app Dock Nothingness turns it off. Also the app Alarm Clock Plus lets you disable it or launch a different app when it docks.
I thought u can just delete dock.apk from system/app.
Let me try it...

use your favorite root browser.
Go to system/app.
Find deskclock.apk rename it to deskclock.apk.bak
No more annoying dock when placing on touchstone

How to get rid of carhome???

Ok, so I got a g2x eb rom, faux kernel and a magnetic holster on my belt.
The problem is, carhome keeps popping up every time I place my phone in and take it out. Freakin annoying.
Nothing is working and I can't find carhome launcher apk ANYWHERE, only carhome apk.
Tried:
1. Un install through ti bckup and android
2. Dock no app and other apps that should stop carhome from starting
3. Pm packages disable through terminal
4. Delete apk altogether...
Nothing is working. Any suggestions?

have you tried removing it via adb? I mean, delete it, reboot and you may get an error if s/g tries to launch it. Also try an app called app quarantine, I use it to freeze apps and I know it works for car home. You can also try a program called ROM Tool box, by JRummy. If nothing works, get a new ROM, or reflash as it could just be bugged.
Thanks.
The problem is, I unstalled via titanium. No apk of carhome.
So there is no apk to quarantine or stop via apps.
I think my problem is that the carhome launcher is the pia. I can't seem to figure out how to disable the launcher. No launcher apk anywhere.

Have you tried using Bloater app?

I did the following to get rid of it:
1) extract the cahome.apk from the ROM zip file and install it.
2) Once installed it should show up in titanium backup
3) tap on car home in titanium backup and click wipe data and then the uninstall.
4) reboot,
That should remove it .

I used Rom Toolbox from the app store and uninstalled it. Poof its gone and no issues! Just go into the apps section and hold car home, then select uninstall.
Glad one of.my suggestions worked. Please hit the thanks button.

Yeah installing /uninstall doesn't work. For some reason it always comes back.
I got a diff app, disablecarhome on the market and that one finally seems to work.... If that acts up again I'll try the apps mentioned.

Oops, nvm, was reading the post on a bumpy bus, thought the person who said they used ROM toolbox was you. What app exactly did you use and why?
I am not an advance user, but I did managed to removed that piece of **** carhome without ****ing anything up.
1) Install Root Uninstaller. It is a free app on market. (I assume you have root access, since you said you are using faux and eb rom)
2) Find Carhome, check it, hit Backup in case you want it back, then uninstall. The apk should be saved on your phones internal sd right now, back it up to your pc as you desired.
3) At this point, your phone should pop out something about kineto (sp?), crashing. I've try anything I can think of but nothing will back you out of that error loop. No fear though! All you have to do is pull battery out
4) Turn the phone back on, now enjoy your phone without that piece of **** app bothering the **** outa you
Freezing it should also work since it is not available in app drawer.
