[ROM] Nick's Phone V1.2 Based On Oxygen 2.3.2 [19.03.2012] - Desire Android Development

Nick's Phone V1.2 Based on Oxygen 2.3.2
For the past few months I've been working on my own ROM I use daily on my HTC Desire and I've been pretty happy with the outcome. I just wanted to put it onto this site to give back to the community and hopefully this might make some people keep their Desire's a little longer!
This ROM is based on AdamG's Oxygen 2.3.2 so anything in that is going to be in here.
This ROM will fit into CM7R2 (150MB /System) Hboot or bigger. It has roughly 25MB free space on /System so feel free to add some of your own applications in if you want to. I added more applications so it fills my /System instead of having spare space and wasting it. I didn't want to use a custom HBoot so just filled it with applications I use myself. On my own phone I have beautiful Widgets and some other bought Apps which obviously I couldn't add in here as they need to be paid for.
I've also released this to the community so you can give me feedback on how I can improve my own phone / ROM because this is my daily ROM and I'm always open to improvements
I would recommend a FULL WIPE before installing this ROM and to make it even better I would also recommend re-partitioning your SDCard with GParted and setting up a FAT32 partition followed by a 1024MB EXT4 partition. That way everything is starting from fresh and you will experience the full benefits of this ROM. I use CWM 2.5.0.7 and it sometimes causes my market downloads to fail if I full wipe my phone and I don't repartition using GParted.
The additions I've put in are as follows:
ICS theme with my own slight tweaks
GoLauncher EX - With ICS Theme
GoLauncher Notifications, Calendar and Note
Stop Watch & Timer modified by me
Adfree
Droidwall
Convertpad
Music2 V4.1.512
ES File Explorer
Google Maps & Streetview
I've also added the following tweaks:
720p HW Playback
Trackpad to wake (NOT to unlock)
SDCard buffer modified to 1024KB
& lots of build.prop tweaks listed here:

If you want to change the boot animation you can follow any of the steps here on XDA that change the default Oxygen animation (modified by me) to a moving animation like CyanogenMod.
You can download the ROM from the following location:

Changelog From V1.1:
Made the T9 dialler english text larger
Implemented the Russian T9 icons fix
Updated lots of applications (Tons of updates since V1.1 - play market etc)
Themed the menu icons from grey to white in most applications
Implemented my own Go theme seperate from Kovdev so you can have / use both now
Fixed the calendar widget background from grey to white again as it was hard to read - thanks to Shadowscope for mentioning this (I guess everyone else must use the Go calendar widget! )
Added DSP Manager
Updated Google Search - With my ICS Blue options
+ Other things I've probably forgot since it's been that long! Sorry!

Update: Google have released a new market and this changes my ICS colour coded market icons and the blue / white pre-loading bar. If you want these back please flash the ZIP attached to this post and it will give you the new market with my changes. You can flash this after a fresh ROM install or if you have already upgraded to the new market and have my ROM installed already.

Changelog from V1.0:
T9 Dialler integrated
Added ICS Fonts
Changed Bluetooth symbol and fixed it not showing when devices are connected
Updated Go Launcher Ex (new version since V1.0)
Changed the anorexic close folder icon (triangle) in the Go Launcher custom folder window (Didn't look right)
Rotated the ICS expander icons so they are consistent in the T9 dialler window. E.G. T9 dialler uses expanded down to expand and expander up to minimze. ICS expander icons had the expander pointing right to expand (now down) and down to minimise (now pointing up!)
Changed the GMail notification back to just blue ICS instead of having a red M, it looked a little tacky because the Desire screen made it look pink rather than red!
Colour coded the bluetooth file transfer notification icon, I missed it before and it was still grey!
Added an updated version of Google Talk to the ROM and colour coded it back to ICS

Please see the attached screenshots if you would like to see how this ROM would look on your phone.
Thanks!
Nick

Additional Changes You Might Want To Make:
1. _Thalamus released a new kernel here which has a speed benefit to SD card access and seems to be slightly improved. I've tried it and it works fine and SD transfer speed to the phone is indeed faster.

1.1 There's a bug in all the versions of my ROM when you go to the Brightness settings under Widget Buttons. It causes a FC due to decompiling issues so I've attached a fix to this post that will resolve this and it also includes the latest market too. If you can't flash the zip from recovery please copy and paste the files manually into /system/app/ using ES file explorer.
Additional Theming Changes:
I've been asked quite a few times now about the picture I use in my signature, which Widget it is etc or the clock widget. The clock widget is Beautiful Widgets and it's a super clock 4x2 widget on the homescreen with a clock skin called GalaxyTab10. I've recently changed the clock skin to Roboto Clear which matches the ICS font nicely! But my signature picture is a little behind.
The calendar screenshot is the Go Calendar with the ICS theme by 11. Gravity and it's about 80p on the market. I think it's well worth it and it goes with the ICS layout nicely!
1A. Kom-Si has mentioned that the GMT timezones for this ROM (and Oxygen) are wrong for certain countries and has suggested the following fix:
I personally used Timezone Fixer app available on the Market. there's also a flashable zip I found on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7484380.

2. NOT NEEDED FOR ROM V1.1Thanks to ToastnButter for mentioning this but I originally wasn't a fan of the ICS roboto font but it is growing on me so if you want to use it please flash the zip found here in recovery. NOT NEEDED FOR ROM V1.1
( FontPack-Roboto_E2.zip - I know it's from the HTC Buzz forum but it worked on my Desire )

I've fixed this now and the flashable zip for Russian buttons is attached to this post as well. THIS IS STILL NEEDED FOR ROM V1.1 BECAUSE RUSSIAN IS WRONG

If you mean the 100MB /System HBoot then it will fit but you will have to remove a lot of stuff. Go Launcher EX is bigger than Launcher2 so you would need to remove extras like Music2.apk and possibly GMail.apk etc as well as everything else I added (Maps, ConvertPad, Stop watch etc etc)

It should be multilanguage if that's what the original Oxygen 2.3.2 was because I've not removed anything only added or changed things.
Good question though because I've only ever used English! Sorry.

digital clock in your signature picture "nick phone" is ???

ap2sd
Hi Nick,
your rom looks very nice.
Before install I have a question: Is some form of ap2sd implemented.
I ask because of the required ext partition.
Cheers,
Rico

Unfortunately that's Beautiful Widgets and the GalxyTab10 theme for it with the transparency set to 100%.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.levelup.beautifulwidgets&feature=search_result
I couldn't include that in the ROM because it's a paid for App on the market sorry.
The calendar widget on the left is also a paid App on the market by 11 Gravity and is a GoWidget ICS theme pack:
https://market.android.com/details?...owidget.elvngravity.ics&feature=search_result
The ones that are free are in the ROM but anything that has to be paid for is removed, sorry.

I believe Oxygen has a form of ap2sd built in yes, I notice on my phone that it is being used when viewed in Titanium Backup.
Q: What A2SD does this support?
A: Oxygen supports "froyo style" apps2sd, it also supports A2SD with an EXT3 or EXT4 partition.
By default the dalvik cache is not moved to SD for performance reasons. This means that your internal memory still gets decreased. If you still want it, mattmann83 created an edify compatible script here

Because I´m now without available space in nand
EDIT: ...moving Dalvik to sd... sorry

If I could offer one suggestion, the setting
# Raise JPEG Quality to 100 percent
ro.media.enc.jpeg.quality=100
is probably unnecessary to have that high. 100% will give you a much larger file and probably no noticeable difference to 95-99%.

Well this is very strange! I just tested that and 2 pictures of the same area came out at 901KB and 903KB at 100 percent quality and when I did two more with the setting at 95 they came out at 939KB and 1.03MB!!!
Maybe that setting doesn't do anything or rather it's doing something wrong I'm not sure but the file size is bigger when I say 95 percent for quality!
I'm not doing the 100% same picture every time but it's definitely not making much difference to the look of the picture! Just the size... Strange!
EDIT: Just tried on 5 percent because it was bugging me if it really did make a difference and I guess either this doesn't make a difference or it's changed somewhere else in the Oxygen ROM after the build.prop file has been executed. The file size was even bigger than when I did the test on 95! But only slightly and it's most probably because I'm not taking the exact same picture with the same lighting every time. I grabbed those build.prop changes from quite a few sources so I guess they're all wrong or it used to make a difference but doesn't now on the latest Oxygen ROM.

Nick,
I'm really enjoying your work, the theme you included feels really, really consistent, the apps you've added actually does come in handy, which is rare, AND the rom has the best possible base of all - the Oxygen!
One thing that bothers me though, is the clock's font on the lockscreen, I'd suggest using the same font that Ice Cream Sandwich does, so it'll match the whole rest of the interface nicely.
I usually find rom mods pointless and full of unnecessary clutter, but yours is whole lot better than anything I tried before. Thanks!

Rock Steady / CM7 (GingerSense) (5-1-11)
BEFORE READING ON, MAKE SURE YOU'RE USING CLOCKWORK MOD RECOVERY!!!
Who is Rock Steady for?/About Rock Steady
Looking for the faster 2.3.3 hero cdma rom with HTC Sense Theme??!?! This is just for you!!! This rom is a developed by me and cyanogenmod and the cyanogenmod team. The name inspired by the Rock Steady Break bboy crew. They are the original bboy crew that inspired future generations to breakdance like myself, but yet they remain true to the dance. That short explanation reminds of this rom and how android went from 1.5 to 2.3.3 but this rom remains original to the default theme of android when you first bought your phone from sprint, sense ui framework. If you can't tell by now I like to breakdance so that is the basis of where the name came from. Please read on for more information.
What Needs Work?
- modify the lock screen pattern to have that same green streak like sense's lock screen pattern does
- modify the lock screen and notification bar "sprint" text to say either "gingersense" or "heroc"
- also i need to include a super circle battery mod as extra for those of you who would like a super circle battery instead of the sprint battery (coming soon )
Instructions:
1. Backup EVERYTHING (SD Card, Titanium Backup, Nandroid)
2. Wipe EVERYTHING (Data/Factory Rest, Wipe Cache, Format Boot, System, Cache, and Data, Wipe Dalvik)
3. Download and Copy RockSteady & Gapps to your sdcard
Get Rock Steady Here
Get Gapps Here
4. Flash RockSteady and Gapps and Reboot
5. Skips gapps setup and reboot into recovery and wipe data, cache, and dalvik again
6. reboot into system
7. After setting up gapps, in the menu > sense settings > ui setting > check tint ab and make the scale factor 1 instead of 7
8.Press menu > add > custom shortcut > then click the phone icon and use es file explorer and choose the transparent.png I provided for you on the root of your SD card. Change the activity to say phone by pressing pick your activity > applications > phone. Okay the custom widget and the drag and drop it over the phone button. Do the same for right sense dock button (choose a custom activity of your choice)
9. Add the sense clock by using the fancy widget widget i provided for you.
10. Press menu > settings > cyanogenmod settings > lockscreen > style options > lockscreen style > lense. This is the new modified lockscreen I've been working on Its not perfect yet but it's a start. This is just my way of saving you a few bucks from buying a lockscreen from the market. Although, if you'd like a sense-like lockscreen which looks slightly different from the stock lockscreen (in terms of shading/brightness/darkness), please see here about widgetlocker. Please purchase this app from the market to use as the sense lockscreen. I REALLY RECOMMEND IT. And you can easily disable the default lockscreen once you start using this app by going into the cyanogenmod settings > tablet settings > and checking disable lockscreen.

Code:
3-21

4-4
-fixed reboot problem with flash zip
- now uses v1.4 mp tweaks
- now there are 768 and 691mhz versions because you can't simply just flash v1.4 768mhz version over this rom because it won't go into effect fully because the tweaks in this rom are customized for this rom
- hardware acceleration for ui
- fixed media volume up/down icon
- fixed manual apk install warning icon
- screen state governor switcher :D so this rom is now almost a mp & bl rom (the balance is now like 80/20 with majority of the tweaks being for performance but battery life is still awesome for all the performance gained)
- phone lag is GONE! :D finally got my phone lag script correct for the heroc
- i/o scheduler tweaks helped performance/smoothness A LOT
- boot time tweak so rom boot in about 20 seconds or less for me after first boot :D
4-5
- changed I/o tweaks
- removed phone lag tweaks because we don't need them
- removed decas kernel because we have no need for it in cm7
- changed saga tweak
- fixed wifi connection issue (stays connected without disconnect longer )
- FIXED REBOOT ISSUE NOW THIS ROM IS ABLE TO BE A DAILY RUNNER
4-9
- officially eliminated ALL boot problems
- removed kifno tweaks from this rom because i feel that should be the user's choice as to weather they'd like to apply that
- added sense green theme!! now it has sense buttons, green text boxes, and more!
- fixed battery saying its fully charged when only at 90%
- changed settings icons and other minor icon edits
- stuck with aosp notification bar until i figure out how to implement sense notification bar without FC's on every app
- came close on the lock screen VERY VERY close but i need to learn java to complete it so i removed it until i learn java :D
- found a gingersense bootanimation but although it played on the boot process it was too big and the images didn't fit our screen and i don't know how to convert bootanimations to fit different size screens....YET!
4-10
- added custom kifno tweaks to rom
- odexed rom because not much theming left to do
- added gapps to rom
- changed android-sprint-xx in build.prop to android-google-xx in build.prop (for you oostah :D)
- added sense notification bar and icons and fixed all fc's involved with that
- hardware acceleration
- sdcard r/w speed fix applied (my sdcard speed fix is a more improved branch off of brainmaster's sdcard speed fix so that you get the full read/write speeds from your sdcard's class except class 10 cards).
4-21
- FINALLY!!!! this is rom is now self compiled and HEAVILY modified by kifno, myself, from the cyanogenmod gingerbread source files
- framework edits
- added back almost all the gingerbread apps
- included sense wallpapers
- dns tweak (faster internet)
- now has sense fonts
- now has sense ringtones, notification sounds, alarm, and ui sounds
- new sense boot animation (it isn't the stock sprint animation because not all of us use sprint as our carrier)
- new busybox
- optimized our 2D/3D hardware
5-1
- modded the lense lockscreen style to look almost like sense
- minor optimizations
- removed kifno's tweaks so that you have the choice of using it or not
- fixed lockscreen pattern circles
- used latest busybox
- removed the wallpapers (you can easily find them if you'd like)
- menu icons fixed

OK, installed. Going through the setup instructions on the OP
9. Press Menu > Sense Settings > Sense UI (last step should be >IU Settings)
10. Check Tink AB (Should be Tint AB)
35. Repeat steps 24-34 except for an shortcut of your choice (creating add to homescreen shortcut isn't capable right now) - (Dont really know why or what you are attempting here? Please clarify)
41. Wallapaper (Misspelled)
Your set up is completed.
So far so good. I will let you know when I have My set up completed. Installing stuff.
Can I use A2SD? (I assume I can since it is a GB base)

Is this real "HTC Sense" integrated with gingerbread, or is it just a "Sense theme" for gingerbread? I assume by looking at the rom size that it is just a theme. I really like the sense widgets: calendar, messaging, email, etc, but I assume that if it is just a sense theme then those widgets will not be available? I will still download and give it a whirl. Thank you for your hard work!

Thats what I was thinking. Without the sense widgets, I'll just go back to launcher pro plus, the sense theme doesn't me do me much good in that regards. Other than that the rom looks pretty solid

I know that most folks that use Froyo or Gingerbread think that Sense is a dirty word, for some reason I always find myself going back to a sense rom after being on froyo or gingerbread for a while. I really like the interface and widgets. Thank you again for your hardwork

Fancy Widget is not warez. The oudated version that you've included here (the one that you've likely included without license from the creator) was taken off of the Market a long time ago after HTC sent a cease-and-desist letter to the creator for ripping off their work (if you crack open the apk, you can see pretty clearly that he blatantly copied the image resources from the original). It was later re-released after a code rewrite, sans the ripped-off bits.

No problem but my hardest work /problem I'm going to face is Widgets but I like challenges
wait, hold up.
So this is gingerbread 2.3.3 with an HTC Sense theme over it? does stuff work?! If texting, calling, and teh netz works, I'm down for trying this out.

[ROM] - [MikRoms] - [3/9/2012] - MikG v3.11 - Re-Engineered GB Sense 2.1 + 3.0

Ok guys... this is probably the most complete sense 2.1 + sense 3.0 rom there is out right now... but feel free to correct me if im wrong...
1st... huge thanks to misifit for getting these shift ports starting, also thanks to virus for his huge contribution to all port that are running around here on xda.
2nd... huge thanks to Jade for paying attention to some new things that kept on coming.
3rd... huge thanks to RC-team and romanBB for their original version of tweaks.
4th... huge thanks to pvy for the Miui like battery bar settings app and mod (i added it to tweaks instead of a stand-alone app)
as always thanks chingy for his debloater addons to tweaks and to mcluvin for the graphics and of course huge, huge, huge props to seo and snq- that made sure a lot of the sense 3.0 apps can be used with sense 2.1.
Full Change log and Download links are HERE.

Updated Maxthon (v2.3.9)

Debloater (use at your own risk since there is no reverting option yet)
3 different Lockscreens changeable on the fly (honey/vanila/htc)
Tons of fonts to choose from

All the tweaks from 2.xx and a lot more... the list is long...
For Themers (general changes from v2.xx):
A lot have changed and moved around from v2.xx.
Some apps file names have been changed to work with the debloater app
Some apps from data got moved into /system/app/ for the same reason as above (and to save more room on data)
You must re-theme SystemUI, Rosie, framework-res, Settings, HTCCamera, and i hope i didnt leave more out
Bootanimation file names have changed
I think it goes without saying that a lot of smali files got changed (framework and system apps)
Known Bugs:
Long pressing on tabs to remove them will not work.
I had issues keeping the bounce overscroll and the tabs working together so i decided that it is an "OK" bug to have since most of us never use the long press on tabs anyways and might like the bounce overscroll better.
As far as i can tell any other bug is really minor... but ill add to the list as time goes on
If its grayed out... its not a bug...
v2.61:
Updated market apps and market (maps, etc.)
Added a few more tiny options to tweaks
Added more tweaks to init.d scripts to improve security a lil more and to optimize performance better.
Updated Busybox to 1.19.3
A few more tiny things... nothing major yet since i dont really have much time to add more and more things.
Full wipe is always recommended... for those of u that dont want to i will add a patch that will not include market apps or any data apps
v2.60:
Updated market apps and market (maps, etc.)
Added a few more tiny options to tweaks (center clock, signal bars removal)
Added Force Roam Mode Option (thanks jade)
Fixed issue with Contacts app not listening to Gsensor settings (it will always rotate in land... now all good)
Added rotation to music lists (artists, songs, etc... not sure how i didnt notice it all this time)
A few more tiny things... nothing major yet since i dont really have much time to add more and more things.
Full wipe is always recommended... for those of u that dont want to i will add a patch that will not include market apps or any data apps (flashing the patch will still show v2.59... sorry guys... i forgot to change that)
v2.59:
Updated market apps
New SystemUI Twekas to status bar and removable on the fly quicksettings (long press settings quicksettings or go to settings on the phone) (thanks to One_love_420 for the initial work on this status bar tweaks and of course to romanbb for his tweaks)

New music mode by One_love_420 to skip songs in any music app by long pressing the vol buttons when screen is off (works with htc, pandora, google music, etc.)
Full wipe is always recommended... for those of u that dont want to i added a patch that will not include market apps or any data apps.
* i got used to having the tabs at the bottom of the quicksettings menu so by def thats what u get, i will include a mod to remove them also since u can swtich between them using the topbar.

v2.56:
Updated Market (3.1.6)
Updated market apps
Updated Maxthon
Fixed frequent apps tab
Unhide Phone in app drawer (if u guys didnt notice... it was hidden before... took me a lil time to notice it myself)
Updated RAM tweaks and builkd.prop tweaks
Updated bin files to ones from honeycomb (smoother)
DB get defragged every boot (loads DB accessing apps faster)
Added RingRing ringtone from MikFroyo
Cleaned out a few more tiny useless files from system

Updated Superuser
Patched up all the smali jar files to not track any data (huge thanks to treve for his guide that showed me what i missed in the past)
Rebuilt all the odex files which should now be a lil smaller.
Removed Calks extra kernel profiles etc. to make sure all other kernels wont have issues with it.
I recommend switching to this version just because indeed your personal info is more safe and it seems like speed improved on 3g and overall in general due to less actions running in the background.

Updated google's CarHome (u wont see the diff)
Updated Maxthon Browser (direct links to forums should work 100%)
If u guys already patched up to 2.52 u guys are in no rush to flash this... its mostly a version to include a few updates and not really to add features.
v2.52:
Added native screenshot (power and home button takes a screen shot)
v2.51:
Patched up files to the new Evo OTA (4.53)
v2.5:
Updated market apps
Updated market to 3.1.3
New MikApps tab in rosie with some selected apps (themikmik forums app, mybackuproot, maxthon, netflix in hd)
Rosie right button now remaps to all apps by long pressing it and picking the desired app (ported from skyraider rom, thanks ihtfp69 for the original work)
Added animation to KB popup
Added white over-scroll from mik3d beta (since u guys liked it...)
New RAM tweaks (thanks to Juwe11 http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1111145)
Cleaned out a lil more files and opted some images in the rom that i left out before.
FULL WIPE is highly recommended and probably needed... but trust me... its well worth it.
(for themers/modders... rosie.apk/odex, settings.apk/odex and framework-res.apk have changed so please take note and update if needed, thanks)
v2.45:
Updated market apps

Moved ALOT of apps and widgets to data for an easy uninstall (including lockscreen idealscreens)

Changed default mms limits for sprint and verizon (200k, 2m, 5m)
Updated netflix
Added more mem tweaks (running in boot seq.)
Tweaks in services.odex (speedup rosie, took out some ciq requests)
(for the themers among u... mms.apk has changed from v2.4)
should be safe to not fully wipe... but as always... i recommend it cuz i always do.
v2.4:
Unlocked more settings in MMS (thanks redwiz666) (if u dont see it... clear the app's data from settings)
Took out undervolt script by def. (was giving some people issues)
Added more quick settings (flashlite/vibrate/silent)
Fixed the annoying misalignment that sometimes popped up when u push something in quicksettings
Switch services powermanagmentxx.smali to more suitable ones for htc (no more of the old fashion copy-paste from cm to get the crt anim)
Updated ESfileexplorer
Should have more free ram now... but u guys tell me (my evo is not using the network now... only wifi)
Im sure im forgetting 1 or 2 more tiny things... but nothing major im sure.

Do you know if this rom has all the same video quirks as other "Z" based roms? For instance, on all Z roms I've tried (MikZ, WarmZ and one other) NHL GameCenter Live will not display video, just play audio.
Also, you didn't mention if HDMI was working, I assume not though.

i think with hdmiwin all work... but i cant test it... maybe u can test and let me know.
keep in mind... i did say "work in progress" so its not perfect yet... and cuz its based on dhd and desire z... it might never be perfect just cuz of the 4g thing.
Front Page!
Thanks for ROM
virus' port had the on off animation working but no landscape and mms gave "generic network error"
720p video play? Its works good or little choppy like virus rom?

i dont know why xda mutli quote dont work...
anyways, to answer a few questions.
* i didnot check video for 720p playback... but i saw that virus missed a few things... so it might be good on this rom... i need to check, but than again... this is why its a "WIP"
* this is not themed besides the semi trans pulldown/app drawer and the fact that i added a few skins.
* MMS seems to still dont work... i changed all the apns all over the packages... and still no go... we'll see later on what can be done with it.
* this is not the evo GB leak... this is sense 2.1... with GB.
I am assuming if we use the latest netarchy kernel it will break the camera?

Few Questions
I am trying to use the wifi hotspot. I cannot connect to my computer. I get an error " the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements for the network". The usb tether works . I have tried the wifi tether app and it doesnt work either. These have worked with previous ROMs but not this one.
I am also looking for the png that sits in the middle of the rosie nav bar that says "phone". Any idea where to find this png at?
I have made some mods to this Rom already like the battery, spinners, rosie nav bars.
Another thing i am trying to change is the "EVDO" in the top bar. I can not find it in the resource folder. I believe it is in the System UI apk, but I am not sure.
Thanks for the help.......

Discontinued[ROM][JAN.22]HyperSensation v1.8 |base 2.3.7 - Small, fast (only 54Mb!)

23rd March 2012 - Message from the developer here
I believe that our Sensation can do a lot more / be a lot faster / and therefore we can be more productive than with the Sense ROMs.
I also like to customize my own apps in a given ROM, so any simple/minimalistic ROM is a plus for me.
I therefore present to all who like this approach my very own HyperSensation ROM release.
HyperSensation is now also on Facebook! HERE
Screenshots (HyperSensation):
- Download links, changelog and addons and extras in post #2
- Extras and other links (ie. kernel, addons, etc) in post#3
- FAQ and themes in post #4
What you get:
- Simple, minimalistic ROM to be a good base for your everyday needs (those who like every app to be in there "out-of-the-box" should steer clear)
- Speed tweaks to make the base to make it even faster and more responsive
- Tweaks to make battery life even better
- Tweaks to included apps (camera, mail, etc) to make the experince even more whole
- Lossless JPEG compression for photos taken
- GApps included so you do not have to install afterwards (Maps removed, but you can install Maps through the Market, and Talk from post #3)
- Smooth scrolling in all apps (disabled scrolling cache globally trhoughout the ROM)
- Always updated base to keep your flashing appetite full
All other addons/tweaks are exactly the same in the two branches, its just a matter of personal taste
Credits:
- Huge thanks to Vorbeth who started the CM9 builds for the Sensation!
- thanks to Pongster for the whole idea of creating a minimalistic yet usable build, I used to run his HyperDroidGBX when I still had my HD2...
- thanks to nitr8 and insanity ROM (SGS2) for the ideas and a couple of icons/theme images
- thanks to ljankok for the friendship in cooking
- thanks to vladnosferatu for the tweaks
- thanks to crypted for the AGPS patch
- thanks to septix for the excellent banners
- thanks to splder for the volume adjustments and the bootanimation
- thanks to AndroidON for the smooth scrolling fix and the volume steps mod HERE
ROM Releases
1. When you are finished setting up the device, do a normal reboot and then you will have normal operations!
2. I have deleted a number of apps so that the ROM can be as lean and minimalistic as possible. If you find you need any apps that I have deleted, go to post #3 (Addons and Extras) and you will most likely find the app you need there!

FAQ
Q: I get "Your device is not supported" in Market, even if I have LCD Density set to 240.
Background:
If your LCD density is NOT 240 (which is stock), then when you try to get an app from the Market, it will say "Your device is not supported".
The bummer is that the Market App remembers this, even if you flash the 240 stock LCD density patch.
A:
1. Flash the 240 LCD Density patch
2. Go to Settings/Applications/Manage Applications/All
3. Select Market
4. Select "Clear Data" under Market
You can now download the apps...
Q: I get FC's on writing any text, using the "M" version.
A: Disable predictive text in Language & Keyboard settings, because to save ~10Mb space I have deleted all dictionaries from the ROM.
Q: How can I have predictive text in the Minimalistic version?
A: It was deleted to make the ROM as lean as possible. You can download the original LatinIME.apk needed in the Addons section in post #3. Adb push the extracted file to /system/app and reboot.
Q: Issues with vibration not working? answer is provided thanks to SlwDrvr!
A: Ok so for those that are having vibration problems like I am. Here's the fix. Settings > Profiles > Make your own profile or you can change up the default > scroll down to the bottom "Application Groups" > select the ones you want to change or have vibration for > so for example SMS you will see Vibrate Mode on the bottom, second to last, select it and choose ON. do the rest for the other application groups and vibrate will work. for sure.
Q: How can I optimize battery life?
A: Do at least 2 full charge cycles to really measure battery life: flash the ROM, charge to full, let it drop below 15%, charge to full, let it drop below 15%, charge to full, and then evaluate.
Q: What dialer should you use?
A: If you do not like the default dialer and miss the T9 dialer from Sense, the 2 best dialers are (both free on the market) Dialer One and TouchPal Dialer. I prefer Dialer One as that blends in just nicely with my black theme I am using.

What are that awesome banners?
Well, a poweruser, Septix made those and was kind enough to share them! Thanks septix!!!

Can I have that as a splash screen instead of the white-green HTC logo?
Yes! Septix was kind enough to also create a splash screen for the ROM:
Extract the attached zip, and flash the nb file via fastboot!
Tips
For excellent battery life:
With the latest faux kernel!!!
Set the following in CyanogenMod Settings:
- Max clock 1.08 ghz
- Min clock 192 mhz
- Governor intellidemand
Which kernel should you use?
Try either:
- faux's kernel or the
- bricked kernel or the
- tiamat kernel
- or use the stock CM7 kernel included in the ROM
I personally use the faux kernel, but it is all personal preference, so I suggest to try all three of them to see which one feels best for your needs.
Which radio should you use?
I always use the latest available stable radio found HERE, as CyanogenMod was tested with it.
Haha I'm so quick on the draw lol...

i didnt include it. i`ll see what i can do next week.
Is this based on your update to DannyDroid's MIUI version or Galnet? And what's the difference anyway?
Which MIUI-flavor would you recommend in terms of stability and speed?
Thanks for your hard work - good to see new dev's working on the stone!
it is based on miuiandroid version with the usual improvements (ext2, for example.).
i thought of using galnet version but since miui is a closed source, galnet can`t really do much with it. and, it comes with unnecessary apps.
anyway, i`m still new to this and i hope to improve with each version
thanks do you how to enable 5 point multitouch in miui?
another question for hardware keyboard, when i press alt+g its output is "-" not "%",same for all others, can u fix this?
nim, why don't you combine your ROM with hebmiui ROM?
it could be very helpfull
or at least explain to us how do you app2ext on miui, I couldn't make it, thats why I'm using your ROM, wich is very good btw!
Checking the new one for few days and will reply. seems nice and smooth!
Just flashed this ROM today because i wanna try out something new
first, i'm very impressed by its speed. though it's by no mean as fast as CM7 and FM, it is fast for a MIUI rom. The horrible lags that pretty much killed MIUI for me are not there (or maybe there but are subdued somewhat). So if super high speed is not one of your concern, you can flash this rom for a change
Other than that, I will have to further test it and see how. it's not laggy so much as to push me back to my CM nandroid :x

[ROM] Nick's Phone Compiled From Oxy/Roalex With Mods [15.08.2012]

Nick's Phone V1.0 Based on Oxygen and Built From Roalex Sources
First of all, big thanks to AdamG, _thalamus, Roalex, everyone at Cyanogen, ihlades and everyone else who helps the desire! (And others I've forgot!)
I wasn't going to build Android from source because I knew it would grip me and consume me but I couldn't help it! I've been building Oxygen and Roalex from source and have added in my own changes in to both. I've settled on Roalex because it has more patches and updates than I can be bothered to add in manually! (I don't use github, all my changes are done offline etc)
Anyway, the ROM is based on Roalex's source code for his Wip branch as of the beginning of August with:
Lockscreen calendar - with the next 3 appointments shown up to 1 week in advance
Lockscreen Music controls - appear when music is playing and screen is locked, ONLY WORK WITH STOCK GINGERBREAD MUSIC PLAYER! (for some reason). They do work with Winamp but it sometimes mixes up play / pause modes. Not sure why but I prefer the stock player as it's lightweight and themed with my own mods
Lockscreen Torch - long press the home button to enable the torch (I use this so much I had to have it!)
Swipe Away Last Notification and Close Notification Tab - Bit of a gimmick but I liked it!
Fix alarm snooze / dismiss unlocking the screen - Cyanogenmod has this but Oxygen didn't, so I added it. Basically when you dismiss your alarm it unlocks your screen! Which is annoying!
+ My own ICS based theme I've done. Please see screenshots.
All my changes are hard coded in and CANNOT be turned off. Sorry, I could add in the ability to turn them off but this is based on what I want and use so I didn't want the ability to turn them off because I don't want to!
I've also added my own Go Launcher ICS theme, Go Widgets Theme and my calendar ICS theme for Android Pro Widgets.
I've used Holo Launcher as the default launcher and have modified this also, with some graphical changes I prefer!
I've also added in a modified stopwatch & timer app themed by me.
There's also:
720p HW Playback
Trackpad to wake (NOT to unlock)
SDCard buffer modified to 1024KB
T9 Dialler
I've decided not to add in any build.prop tweaks as I'm not convinced they do anything! Or do very little, so I've done none of those this time but anyone is welcome to add them in if you choose to.
As with all my ROMS, this is provided "as is" and no warranty is given or implied, so you can use at your own risk.
If anyone notices any bugs / issues then please let me know or post here!
Anyway, enjoy!
MD5 is: 429DC097B7E9FB3E05808F67025B8D18

FULL WIPE IS RECOMMENDED!
There's about 30MB of unused space in /system if you use the CM7r2 HBoot so you can either fill it up with your own applications or use the following custom HBoot created by schalmers to give you a system 125 / cache 5 / data 307 partition setup.

You can choose where to install your apps (same as Mildwild V4.3).
As per the instructions for MW's ROM (thanks SydBarret55), If you want apps on sd-ext:
1. Activate sd-ext:
Go to Setting>Applications>Development
Check SD-EXT
Reboot phone
2. Choose the default location for applications:
Go to Settings > Applications > Preferred install location
Choose sd-ext
Or go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25430232&postcount=3812
You can also move apps individually:
Settings > Applications > Manage applications
Touch the app you want to move, and then touch where you want the app to go e.g. Move to Phone, Move to SD-Ext (EXT3 or EXT4 partition) or Move to SD card (Fat 32 partition).
Again, the link above has screenshots to show you what to do.

It's basically a mix from the original ICS ROM, Sonny's amazing CM7 theme and some of my own work from all over the place! Like the circle battery mod is taken from the online kitchen (or from dGB by SUroot, can't remember where!) and modified to blue and grey by me. Most the notifications have been colour coded to blue by me and when you press menu, I've tried to colour code all those icons to white as well.
It's taken a long time to get to where it is but like I've posted before, I'm keeping my desire for another 8 months or more so want it to be the way I like it (and hopefully others do as well!)
Nick
Flashed this last night and i'm really impressed with it.
It's super quick. Even booting it up only takes about 10 seconds!
*edit*
Is there any way to change the clock colour to white? I've done theme using the UOT Kitchen and the blue clock doesn't look right.

I would have thought there's a way to do it in the Kitchen but if not you will need to use APKtool to decompile the framework-res.apk file unfortunately.
You can decompile it and edit the following bit in styles: (under res\values\styles.xml)

Or you can do it this way:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9978779#post9978779
You just need to follow the bit that says notification, date and time (decompiling the systemui.apk file).
Cheers,
Nick

Far too complicated for me :silly: i'll leave it how it is.
Excellent work.
I love the symbols of the notification power widget. Just out of curiosity, what exactly did you change/theme regarding the "Holo Launcher"? I've been using the launcher for several weeks now but can't notice any difference.
Great work!
Is there a stand alone Lockscreen Music Control patch for oxygen 2.3.2?

I've only really changed a few things, mainly when you press menu the screen is transparent with a white border, instead of solid grey. Also when you press and hold on an icon, thats transparent and has a white border instead of just being solid grey and also when you go into a folder that's transparent with a white border. I've also made the return to desktop icon in the launcher brighter white and changed the play icon to ics blue instead of the semi-transparent white.
Not big changes but I prefer consistency!

I've not created one no, sorry. But it would be possible to do I'm sure. I think all the changes I made for lockscreen controls are in the framework-res location so a patch would be possible, but I won't be doing one, sorry.

It should be as it's based on the original oxygen / roalex sources and they are multi-language. Please let me know how the lock screen calendar looks because there's a string I changed in values for how the date is displayed, such as:
core/res/res/values/donottranslate-cldr.xml
<string name="abbrev_wday_month_day_no_year">E MMM d</string>
But I ONLY added this to values, not values-es and values-it etc etc so I hope Android will default to english and not crash if there's no language specific change. EG:
core/res/res/values-de/donottranslate-cldr.xml
<string name="abbrev_wday_month_day_no_year">E, d. MMM</string>
I presume it just means the date will be formated in UK format and not Spanish, but should still display correctly. Hopefully someone can let me know or post a screenshot to see if there's any issues.
EDIT: Just changed my language a few times and the lockscreen didn't crash or anything it displayed the date but I'm not sure if it's doing it wrong, but it looked OK but I only speak English unfortunately!

If there's a serious bug or update and there's a need to update the Tom then I will do yeah. But I wont be releasing minor graphical changes because the rom is pretty much where I want it graphically.
As for the kernel, I recommend the one that's in the rom as its thalamus' r4 release which is the latest one but has roalex's patch for call recording. If you want things neat you could flash thalamus' standard kernel on top but I expect that would break KSM if you use it (I don't)

Now that you've mentioned it, what are the benefits or using KSM?
I've read a bit about it but, as with compcache, swap and that kind of things, I never find to understand the "pros and cons", and usually dind't feel big differences when enabling and disabling.
Thanks!

I don't use it to be honest and I would doubt you would find much benefit from turning it on. I think it's mainly for when you're running virtual machines on a single host or if you run lots of similar processes on the same host.
So I imagine if you could make 2 calls at once and put one on hold while talking to the other etc then KSM might be able to use parts of that process and merge them in memory, potentially saving memory (totally hyperthetical here!). However, it's probably very minimal gains versus the time it takes for your phone to keep analysing memory pages to merge them!
And in theory, your phone should release memory used for processes once they've finished so even if you did save memory by using KSM in this hyperthetical situation, when you end both calls you should get the memory used released and back available anyway!
I think it only helps to run / do more things at once rather than get speed benefits because if 2 processes need the same memory page again it will create a copy and you have 2 un-merged pages again and more memory used up.
Someone more techy might provide a better insight but in a phone I would say it's not necessary. On a hyperV server running 20 virtual hosts I would say yes!
