transformer b70 bricked? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm stuck at the boot screen, have stock recovery installed but it just sits at the bootscreen.
am i bricked?
If anyone knows of anyway to fix this let me know.
Thanks

Have you tried just pushing and holding the power button till it reboot?

As i said before
This should work
To flash back to honeycomb download your proper region from here
http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_...F101/#download
Then UNZIP the zip file that came from asus
Copy the asus/update/ww-epad-user8.6.5.21.zip file to your microSD Copy the ww-epad-user8.6.5.21 file to the root of your microSD Rename the file to EP101-SDUPDATE.zip. (this is case sensitive must be caps) Reboot to recovery by pressing vol down and power while the tab is off When you see the text press vol up
Edit : if this works it should bring you back to honeycomb. This is also assuming you cannot get into clockworkmod.

Hi, that method worked but the filename should be EP101_SPUPDATE.zip
Thanks all, much appreciated it!

This is what I did and worked perfectly. But I allready had KD1 which I recomend you get. Download the recovery and update.zip and put both of them on the root of your sd card. Then get root explorer from the market. Open root explorer and go down to sdcard. In the sd card you are gonna find the recovery file you placed in there. Your long press it and its gomma say copy. Copy that and press back button and then your at the main page of root explorer again. Its gonna say paste and cancle at.the bottom but dont press anything yet. You go all the way down to system and go into it and then into /bin. In /bin your gonna press the mount r~w button at the top right which allows you to paste the file. You press paste at bottom left and its gonna ask if you want to overwrite say yes.(if it didnt ask you overwrite that either means the file you downloaded was renamed.or there was a (2) or (3) on it if you downloaded various times. Just take the ending out so its.just.recovery)
Now back out to homescreen of your phone.and if you have kd1 you can get into recovery from quickboot if not then turn off your phone and hold powerbutton and both volume keys while the phones turning on normally it will go to a bluish screen with an android.(recovery) here you click reinstall packages and your done

issue solved by formatting the SDcard
so I formatted mt sdcard and the managed to get into CWM.

now every time I want to go into CWM I should do the same procedure?
I mean put the update.zip in the root of the sdcard->go to recovery->reinstall apps?

[Q] Noob guide?

Im very new to development on the Sidekick. I have my phone rooted and thats it. I want to put the final smooth maximus on it. How do I go about do that??
Additional info:
As I said I only have it rooted, I dont have CWM on it or anything else.
A step by step noob friendly guide would be helpful please.
Install CWM from here ,
Put the Update.zip on your /SDCARD
Install root manager from phone , put moddedrecovery on your /SDCARD then navigate it to /SYSTEM/BIN rename Recovery.bin to Recovery.bak then move krylon's there .

Okay so I got everything done and it soft bricked so I used ODIN to unbrick it and when I retry to get into CWM it always errors out now, I've redone everything I originally did and it won't go back into CWM. Why?
Sounds like you didn't replace the recovery binary correctly if it's giving a "verification failed" error.
I did though, I rooted my phone using super one click, robooted it, replaced recovery in system/bin with krios' and left the update.zip on the root and it still didnt. I dont think it really rooted though..

http://www.krylon360.com/file_host/sk4g/recovery.zip (This is the recovery.)
http://www.krylon360.com/file_host/sk4g/update.zip (this is the update)
http://www.4shared.com/get/HpENkmN8/...rer_v2124.html (this is root explorer.)
open the first zip file (recovery file) on your computer and take out the recovery file inside it (should be the only file) and place it on the sd card.
place the second file (the update file) on the root of your sd card
and install (root explorer) the last file just like you would a normal apk file.
now open root explorer scroll down and find sdcard,
now open it and find recovery and long press on it. hit copy. now hit the back button once.
now find system. open it.
find bin. open it.
hit on the top mount r/w
hit paste and overwrite the file.
next, power down the device and instead of powering on regularly, press volume down+ power button or volume up+volume down+camera+power on you should be in the recovery mode.
if it is blue then hit re-install packages,
if it is red you should be good to go.
NOW YOU HAVE A CWM
Goodluck and have fun flashing.

Possibly bricked B70 tyring to update!? HELP!

Hello, been around here just haven't posted yet. Anyways, I have a S/N: B70KAS420184 pad, on the .19 firmware, no rom, successfully rooted with razorclaw and clockwork running fine. I messed up flashing the ICS file and now I cant get anywhere. Entering recovery shows a status bar then instantly to the triangle with droid guy with exclamation point. It also will not get past the main eee pad screen and just hangs there. I tried nflash and when I run the download.bat (windows) the command prompt comes up, reads a few lines real fast then closes and the nvidia usb boot recovery disappears from the device manager list. Any help would be great please I've searched for everything. Tried this on two different computers, same result. Both running windows 7. Thanks, Josh.
Exact same problem here too. Tried putting stock firmware on SD card then hopefully it would install itself but to no avail.
Suggestions?

As far as I understand it with other devices, you can't flash a factory update.zip if you have custom recoveries (or at least shouldn't, because it would brick the device).
Is there any way to flash a recovery like others can do with nvflash?

If your B70 is one of the earlier batches with sbk1, you can use NVflash.
Mine is B70KAS1796**. NVflash works.
Download the latest firmware from asus ( http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/#download )
unzip on computer
copy asus folder to Microsd
Copy file from /asus/update to root directory
rename updatelauncher file to EP101_SDUPDATE
reboot to recovery (power and volume down wait for words then volume up)
might help works for me (i have B70 not able to nvflash)

Unfortunatley Dreambox i have tried that but all i get is the triangle of doom. I think my recovery may be broken, and u have the later model tf101 (i think) so nvflash doesnt work for me. I install drivers for it then open download and it just flicks to a screen real quick then closes. Is that what is supposed to happen if you have the later model tf101?
thanks again.
Hmmm could be a problem with recovery but... could be a problem with the zip file.
As i am on a late model b70 as well i have been stuck a few times like that as well.
just to double check because these are the things that got me when i was stuck
did you unzip the downloaded file and copy the /asus/update/updatelauncher.... to the sd card
did you rename the file (update launcher) to EP101_SDUPDATE (this is case sensitive) and put it in the root of the SD card
Reboot to recovery volume and power down then when you see text in the top left corner press volume up?
anyone of these steps missed would cause the android with the triangle
Edit: If it boots to eee pad logo you should be able to save it. The only things that would give you the triangle would be the above and possibly wrong region code
Dude it worked, thanks heaps for that. Turns out i didnt unzip the file from the Asus website. I just assumed that was the ROM *facepalm*
Good job mate, i was nearly going to turf the tf101 and use that as an excuse to get the prime lol
No problem. Sorry about saving it tho...... Guess yer prime is gonna have to wait.
Im not seeing the update launcher file in the update folder. My update fold just has a zip file (US_epad-user8.6.5.21.zip) When I unzipped that, there are a few files and the google folder, within that folder, the only thing I have with udpate is update_binary and updater_script? Where is the updatelauncher file? Thanks

Yep that is the one. Sorry wrong file name. Copy the asus/update folder So copy (US_epad-user8.6.5.21.zip) that to the root directory and rename it to EP101_SDUPDATE reboot into recovery and you should be in back in honeycomb.
So on the microsd you should have
Asus/update/ US_epad-user8.6.5.21.zip
EP101_SDUPDATE.zip
Plus all your other files
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
I did this and when I boot into recovery (vol - & power them vol +) it shows the status bar like its going to install something for about 1 second then instantly to the triangle.
Did you make sure you unzipped the downloaded file.
Copied the ww.epad-user8.6.5.21 to root and renamed to EP101_SDUPDATE
These things can block you from proper recovery
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
Edit: should say US instead of ww
I downloaded the zip file. Unzipped the file and I now have an ASUS folder within that is an update folder with the zip file I mentioned before. I copied the whole asus folder to the main root of a clean formated sd card. I copied the zip in the update folder and moved it to the main root of the card where the asus folder is. I renamed and ran recovery, same triangle...I am trying another sd card right now.
EDIT: With clean and new sd card it is now showing the status bar. Not sure how long this takes but good sign that it didn't go straight to the triangle! If this works I owe you a beer! Thanks so much
No problem
Have fun
Edit: It could take a while and it might stall but just be patient it should go through.

Works for the B60 too. Thanks for this! I knew as soon as I reflashed .21 from .19 that I had killed my recovery. I tried EVERYTHING I could think of to get it back and just didn't work. Glad I found this because I hadn't even thought about putting the EP101_SDUPDATE on the SD card.
Cheers!

Build.prop missing

So I tried to change the lcd density by editing the build.prop, but by accident i deleted it. Now my phone wont work. It only shows the galaxy s 4g screen then stays on a black screen. What do I do? Can i edit the files on the phone some other way?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19601787
this will reset everything to normal and fix it?
Yes. Apps and all.
But i have no idea what i'm doing. When i run the java code, how do i do that?
I can't put it into download mode since it doesn't do anything but show a black screen
You can still get into download mode even if your phone does not show it. You may just need to do some more reading.
Battery pull, insert USB (should be connected to computer as well), Hold volume up+volume down, then reinsert battery while still holding volume buttons.
You should be able to get Odin or Heimdall to recognize the device.
ok i was able to get it into recovery. Now instead of doing the heimdall, can i restore a nandroid backup? Would that fix it?

Yes also u can push the build.prop u want from cwm by doing
adb push build.prop /system/
If thats all u changed then it should work
-sent from an UNBRICKABLE force
What I recommend is :
1. Copy your desired build.prop to your SDCARD. Take it from your ROM zip.
2. Copy CWM file manager to your SDCARD. see this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1649373
3. Get into recovery by pressing the volume down + plug the power cable in + insert the battery in.
4. Choose 'install from zip' and select the CWM file manager zip.
5. Push build.prop to /system.
Good luck!

It looks like nobody knows what is going on with your issue because you don't give us any information what you did or error messages...
Let me try to help you but I can not guarantee if you can your device up running. So please answer these questions.
1. How did you load the stock firmware and what was the error message before aborting the installation?
2. Can you still access to your bootloader by pressing the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time for more than 10 second until you see the 3 icons of your bootloader menu?
3. Did you try to re-download the stock firmware with a right SKU for your device because it may be corrupted for the first download?
4. Do you have any important files that you like to save before proceeding?
5. Do you have an external microSD so you can put all files there for the device to read?
I need to know those answers in order to find a solution for your problem.....
I was getting an lying down android with error and exclamation, but that was because I renamed the firmware the wrong way, once I renamed it properly, it goes thru the install blue bar, then restarts 2 times and then a white screen,,nothing else...I cant shut it down..so it drains the battery and dies

Post the link where you got the firmware file and it's exact name please (before you renamed it).
Which part of the planet do you live in?

Whew. I was afraid you may have flashed the wrong firmware, but it looks ok.
You did rename it to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip?
It may have been just a bad flash...
I initially thought your screen might have died, but if you can get to the bootloader menu and into RCK, it should be ok.
I would try a fresh download, unzip that file once and rename the resulting zip as stated above.
Copy it to your microSD, insert it and enter recovery (RCK) again.
do I put the .zip at the end of the rename...

You have to make sure that file extensions are showing in Windows Explorer. The name of the file has to be EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip. If Windows adds file extensions automatically you might end up with EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip.zip.
You don't want that.
I renamed it exactly as you described using the .zip at the end...windows explorer didn't add another zip to it,,and I went back to the android lying down with error....do the zip at the end made it worse

How do your files show up in Windows Explorer?
Look at some Word documents or Excel files. Do they show as "Document.doc/Spreadsheet.xls" or just as "Document/Spreadsheet"?

If you extract the zip and don't see the .zip at the end of the extracted file, then you don't have the file extension enable on your PC.... So you don't have to put the .zip at the end of the rename, good luck...:fingers-crossed:
@berndblb
It looks like the installation was sucessed after he/she renamed the file... So his/her data may be corrupted, guessing... So the only solution that I have is to Wipe the data from bootloader menu if no one opposes this idea... I have done it at least 4 or 5 times in the past without any problem.. I hope that someone can give him/her a better advise...
in the file I have meta inf ,,,and another file named blob
