Yes. At the first look at the index of the device: i9003. It's the same.
Our device has several names. Galaxy S i9003, Galaxy SL i9003, Galaxy S SL i9003, Galaxy S ScLCD i9003 and so on
As falex said, the "two" phones are the same. The important thing here is the Number. Think of it as a kind of series number. I9000 = SGS, I9003 = SGSL, I9100 = SGS II, and so on.

The graphic in your sig, XXKPQ is 2.3.6, not 2.3.4.
Well The Sig generally needs a little correction. Haven't done it yet.

I'm guessing that many of you guys already know this, but as this is not posted anywhere else in our forum, I'd like to post here, since I found this just randomly.
Touch your status/notification bar for a second (do not pull down) and then slide left/right to decrease/increase your screen Brightness.
Cool Right !!
NOTE : Auto Brightness should be turned off for this to work.
While posting this thread I saw few threads on other Phones' forums about this tip, and from the responses, I see many guys were not aware of this. So I think this thread will make some sense.
It’s working...... really cool man....
Yup its a known trick, it even works when using the stock ROMs.

As far as I am aware, this is only present on Samsung phones. I tried with my friend's DHD, his Arc S and his Galaxy Note. Only worked on his Note.

I dont think all Samsung fones have this option. I tried on my friends Ace - didnt work.
And I saw few threads for some HTC fones also having this option..

I second that it doesn't work on Ace though it was a while back that I had checked it, so a new update might have added this feature for them too.
Will check & update you guys here.

It's already in the FAQs buddy.
Galaxy SL has the brightness control feature. That runs TouchWiz 3.0, as far as I know.

It doesnt work for me on stock ROM. I have however removed a lot of stuff with titanium backup, which might be the reason for this.
Any suggestions as to why it doesn't work for me?

Yeah, I guess so.
At the moment, I'm waiting a few weeks before switching to one of the custom ROMs which are currently being developed and tested. I think I'll live without this brightness feature until then Although it sounds really nice.
Very Nice. Thanks for the Tip.

Is it possible to use the Galaxy S custom roms from the i9000 forum on the Captivate?
Im new to this part of XDA, seeing as I just picked up a pretty beat up captivate for 20$.
Before I get flamed or anything, Im just asking. I searched it up and went through nine pages and found no results answering my question.
IF there is a way, may you please link me to it?
Thanks.
Jhoopes517
Yes.
But u need a "Reoriented Kernel" for the firmware of the rom u want to flash...jvr, jw4 or whatever it is.
Search in the Dev forum of the Captivate. U probably will have to go back a ways.
Edit: here are some... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13043268

Yes you can , you can go with either as long as you run the proper kernel .
I9000 with I9000 , 1897 with I897
the I9000 kernel will have the home and back buttons swapped but you can install button mapper , free n the market , and reasighn them
you can also run modified JB 4 at this time , Slim Bean , X Bean so on , but you will need to install the mapper program o XBean

Because the op didn't have a cappy 3 months ago. And 3 months of time on XDA can equal to 300-400 pages of posts, or more. If he posted in the development section, then flame on. But general sections are for inquiries such as this.
This info helped me, so thanks for bringing up a 3 month old thread

I love the features of the Galaxy S3 Camera app, but the rom is full of bloatware and lacking features.
I upgraded to ParanoidAndroid 2+, and love it.
Request to put the STOCK Galaxy S3 Camera App onto a JellyBean mod (like ParanoidAndroid or CM).

OOPS I was meant to quote the OP not you but you answered for him ... reason for my Question is because he is asking for a system app of a Different device
i think the camera app should be interchangable Not sure tho...I just find it odd as there is PLENTY more I9300 users with what you would be looking for and its no guessing game that way caues you KNOW it will work. Its better to be safe then sorry. And yes they are similar devices but they are not the same which is why we have 2 different development forums for them.
And if you want to try the camera app is in ausdim deodexed/zialigned XXALI5 rom , its in this thread somewhere just extract it out of there but your rom has to be deodexed aswell.

my ace plus is also a gift from my sisters and thats the reason i have to keep this phone forever
i too have a kindle fire and a tab 2 but my daily driver is ace plus :good:
I had an Ace than decided to give to my sister .
Then one night my dad said to look into Ace Plus specs ,before looking into I said it is worthless ,and told that I do not need a device .But then he told me that he already bought one .This was a reason why I hate before asking to me though.
It made me happy ,but time passed and I became tired of this phone . :/
