i Want to buy a new Mobile Fone & the budget is around 18500INR.
So which mobile do u people suggest ???
but The OS should be ANDROID.
i Have Following Devices on my Mind, but cant decide which one is good.
1. Samsung Galaxy S {21000INR}
2. Samsung Galaxy SL {18500INR}
3. Samsung Galaxy ACE {14400INR}
My choice is, but not limited to the above devices, so please giveme your suggestions ??
there are many gud phones for example htc wildfire, LG optimus one P500, htc desire etc but which one u like just do a lot of research about that phone and make sure it is gud
If you are aiming for that price, I recommend to get the Desire because it has one of the strongest community with many custom ROMs.
With the Desire, you can even get the all new Gingerbread + Sense 3.0 (from Flyer, Sensation, etc.).
The second recommendation from me for that price will be the Samsung Galaxy S. Galaxy S has more internal memory than Desire and AMOLED screen.

i Dont want desire as it has many disadvantages over Galaxy S/Galaxy SL
1. Screen Size is smaller 3.7 vs 4.0
2. Doesnt have a secondry Camera {so no Video Calling}
3. Smaller ROM
& Moreover i dont like the Menu Style of Sense UI s Compared to TouchWiZ of Samsung
Some don't like Desire some do not like Galaxy S, but again, as I said before, Galaxy S is still among my recommendation.
I do not know Galaxy SL because I have never used it at all.
Galaxy S is also a very gud phone but it has a big screen (which might not fit in my pocket).....and that's it otherwise if ur ready to cash out on a sweet phone like then go ahead but just do a little research and then buy it(experience).....Hope u have fun!!
I would go for Samsung Galaxy S or HTC Desire.
Both good phones. I guess the Galaxy has the better display (AMOLED).
Hope you make the right choice.

Desire,
Up sides:
- The main advantage of Desire is the diversity of custom ROMs available + the unbelievable strong community.
- Sense UI (believe me, this is one of the main reason why I always bought HTC)
- Case/body feels better in the hand than Galaxy S.
The down sides: SLCD (for new Desires, the old ones have AMOLED), low internal memory size, pseudo-multi-touch screen.
Galaxy S,
Up sides:
- The main advantage of Galaxy S is the bigger sized internal memory.
- AMOLED screen, true multi touch screen.
The down sides:
- you will get custom ROMs but not as many as by Desire and the community is not as strong Desire although still one of the strongest community.
- Touchwiz is iPhonish
- The case/body feels cheaper than Desire.
Edit: Galaxy S is bigger...this is an advantage during internet browsing but down side if you wanna put it in your pocket.
Hello guys!
I'm looking to purchase a new phone, I have narrowed my choices and my budget down to either the HTC Wildfire S or the Samsung Galaxy Ace.
I just want to know your opinions to find out which one is the better phone, and which one is better value for money.
I can buy the HTC Wildfire S for £175 (Including £10 Top Up) on Three.
I can buy the Samsung Galaxy Ace for £145 (Including £15 Top Up) on Three.
Which one is better overall?
I know the Samsung has a better CPU than the HTC but doesn't the HTC run a better version of Android? Or do they both run 2.3?
I want the phone for general use- a lot of texting, a few phone calls, browsing facebook a couple of times a day, and checking emails once a day. I'm not looking to hack or flash custom roms etc, just practical use.
Thank you for all your replies in advance, they will be greatly appreciated.
Curtis.
Personally I would avoid the wildfire and go for the galaxy ace.
Will run better and smoother I'm sure.I've only briefly seen the galaxy but hated my original wildfire! I have the s2 so have started to really like Samsung so far in comparison to HTC handsets!
sent from t'internet
Thank you for your reply, I've heard good and bad things from both handsets but still undecided- so far im swinging towards the Ace mostly because it has a bigger screen and i know Samsung have good customer support (From experience) whilst i have heard HTC are dreadful in that department.
Thanks
No problem, let up know what you go for in this thread! hopefully you will be typing with your New phone! Plus if you need assistance feel free to ask!

Galaxy ace and you will be much happier in many aspects
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
go for samsung Ace.. wildfire has a really smallscreen and poor battery.. i hav used it .. though sense ui is a killer thing but if yu like bigger screen nd better processor nd battery go for Ace
Htc wildfire s is even slower than the gio, which is much cheaper.. and the ace is the better version of the gio. Buy the ace
Sent from my Xperia Arc using XDA App
Thanks for your replies guys, im going for the Galaxy Ace, not only because it is cheaper but because you all seem to know what you're talking about, so im taking your word for it! Ill hopefully be picking it up before Christmas, or as soon i sell my old phone and 'lend' the money from my parents!
Thank you.
Wildfire S
I would go for Wildfire S without any doubt.Wildfire S performs better than Ace in benchmarks,it has more RAM,Sense UI,design and build quality is great, touch sensitivity is better.Ace's processor is same as Wildfire S,only factory overclocked to 800 MHz.The only problem is battery life ,a little too short and internal memory,150 Mb user available compared to 180 Mb of Ace.
i'm going to get a new phone to replace my Samsung gs Captivate,
my phone is still working , but getting slow since i have more then 60apps installed, and camera focus is broken.
my phone is rooted+custom 2.3ROM+OC, still slow...XXXXXX
im in BC, canada with roger, still have 1 year contract.
i like the look of GS II(i9100)
but rogers don't have it, only Bell GSII 4G look the same, and i'm not going to move to bell
3 device im interested
Motorola razr
Galaxy Nexus
GSII LTE(i'm not going to upgrade to LTE network...LTE seems less interested to me)
what i think about those 3 phones
razr have the best look(i think).
Galaxy Nexushave the best support for android(son of Google)
LTE.....only faster CPU, and expensive LTE
which one should i get....
give me some suggestions please
thank you very much
i'd go for the Galaxy Nexus seeing you're into custom roms
Galaxy Nexus should
The Samsung Galaxy S2 is fine, or the HTC HD2 (warning, it has windows but HUGE Android ROM Support here)
HTC sensation?
GS2 is better than Sensation, not to mention Gnexus..
GS2 weights less, performs much faster (my bro can barely play GTA3 on Sensation) and has a much, much better* screen which you can even use outdoors.
HTC Sensation is very nice. ;-) Awesome design and performance!
Go with the Nexus...
720p resolution screen is amazing!
Plus it's a google phone and from the looks it will be a major flagship device for them (unlike the nexus s), so it will receive all and any new updates first. That being said when the official release is made the custom roms will only be that much more stable!
thank you everyone!
i guess i will go for galaxy nexus.
Sent from my I896 using XDA App
I woudla said sgs or sgs II but seeing how you're not interested in the SGS and nor much interested in the SGS II then i'd say galaxy nexus, being a direct google product has the obvious benefits, plus being a samsung product ensures good reliability, and custom ROM-ing seems very popular and well supported for the samsung line of smart phones. My SGS seems to have a shed load of ROMS for it!
Nexus S

That will be my choice too, go for it.
--------------------------------
HTC Sensation @ ARHD 6.2.1
--------------------------------
Galaxy Nexus
Galaxy Nexus. Simple choice.
If you must choose now take Galaxy Nexus, but better is to wate until april/may when new phones will arrive to carriers.
Nexus
I would say #1 is the galaxy nexus. It is a great advantage if you want stock android, and if you generally use the stock rom. If you use custom roms, then this won't be a big deal, as you can flash an updated rom. The motorola razr is the second best choice in my opinion. Motorola phones have relatively low amounts of bloatware and are relatively easy to root compared to other phones like samsung.
hope i helped
Nexus S
you may also like the unique curved body of the galaxy s. it is a show off point, but i don't know if that is important to you.

On the flipside, of course, the Galaxy Nexus is also the phone of choice if you're looking for custom ROMs It already acts as a Nexus (pun intended) and benchmark for developers, since it was the device to have supported ICS the longest. Plus, as the latest Nexus device (until later this year), and destined for official updates from google, one can expect dev interest to continue for quite some time.
better wait for xperia S .... or wait for mwc 2012, there will be alot new phone coming......
I will chose phone that can be giving ics update like xperia 2011 family

It depends how much money u can spend for this phone if i will have "some" cash i will buy phone with TI OMAP5 Cortex-A15 made in 28nm technology its 2 core processor but its much more better then tegra 3 and have good battery life with good performance.
Guys I am planning to buy a new phone. I want your suggestions about choosing the right one. I am relying on good battery life and phone which has a good amount of development going on (custom roms, kernels, miui, cyanogenmod, ics etc.) coz I love to fiddle with devices a lot. My current choices are :
Samsung galaxy R
Samsung galaxy S plus
HTC Desire S
HTC Incredible S
These are my options but senior members can suggest me phone in range of 23000 INR ($475).
Thanks in advance guys

I would suggest u to buy HTC Incredible S.
If i were you I'd wait a little while..
This April HTC will launch 3 new phone's from their One-serie.
meaning those phones will cost a fortune everyone buying the older HTC models will lower in price.
Also the galaxy sIII will launch soon ( no specific date ) meaning the same as with HTC older models will lower in price.
As for now i would go for incredible.
Hi all, first i am a user of Galaxy Ace, and i'm quite active in Galaxy Ace forums, and till now i'm a bit bored with my galaxy ace, and minding to sell it and buy a replacement..
After some searches and comparations, i saw Galaxy R (i9103) and seems quite cheaper than SGSII which is very expensive in my country... :crying:
And as Galaxy R doesnt sold in my country (indonesia) so i think i will buy it from other countries.. so i really need your opinions when buying this phone..
and after seeing the specs in this phone, i was a bit amazed of it.. and the battery performance of course.. 9H in 3G, is that true ? in reviews said that my galaxy ace last 6 hours 30 mins in 3G..
I wanna ask, Could i overclock or undervolt or even underclock Galaxy R ?
does it lag while using it at times ?
are there many choices of custom roms / custom kernels / mods/ tweaks available ?
and lastly, are you overall happy for buying and having Galaxy R ?
Thank you for reading this..
Hey dude
First of all im very happi with this phone
Custom rom support is here and you can look in development section.
Cm is under development right now and there are kernals too
But its a small community and we aRe happy with every new user
Undervolting, overclocking, is also available on some keenals!
But there are the typical tegra 2 problems... like ics support, nvidia drivers..
But all in all im verry happy with the R its a very good phone!

More than 9 h 30 min in 3G.
You can overclock or undervolt or even underclock Galaxy R.
Lags happens sometimes but mostly when Lwp are used.
Each day increases the base of custom roms / custom kernels...
I personally use it more than 4 months, so far I have not found any major problems and phone is too good, if you buy it you will not be wrong
pudup said:
Touch-wiz is ****. Very little to no people use it and have switched to better launchers. So even if it did lag with touchwiz, it wouldn't be a problem. But it doesn't lag with touchwiz anyway so that should tell you something :3
Phone is great anyway. Although some models are defected and so if you're unlucky, you'll be stuck with an expensive paperweight since Samsung has discontinued production and support for SGR.

well so you're touchwiz hater , LOL . what ? samsung has discontinued this ? omg so i'll be very difficult to buy and find this phone the battery seems very good too . if we tweak it here and there, can it go through 2 days ? LOL

hmm. this word is veeery RARE in galaxy ace forums, bcoz, you know, Sammy didnt release ICS for ace, and ace stuck at old ARMv6 CPU with adreno 200 GPU, (omg that's too awful)
Oh yes people, i read that Galaxy S Advance (i9070) is available at my country and the specs seems a bit similar to Galaxy R, so what do yu guys think about that phone ? just asking btw
S advance uses ericson SoC, if uvr interested u can buy this phone.
Pros of S advance (vs SGR)
-lil bit fast cpu (it delivers better performence than tegra2)
-better gpu (MALI400)
Cons of S advance (vs SGR)
-develepoment support is likely zero
-no official ics announcment
-small and crappier screen
-dim screen compared to brightness of sgr
-don't have official cm announcment
-don't have bigger user base
-small ram (768MB vs 1GB)

FYI tegra is the platform who gave first dual and quad core devices. Its not dead platform and it delivers best performence out there. But yes there are some problems with platform and ics but u should not forget that there devices running on tegra is having official ics with hw accl. like sony tablet etc. Few devices like galaxy r and captivate glide doesn't have dev support that doesn't means the soc is crap. Btw I don't think that galaxy r should be considered as having no dev support. Galaxy r is having official cm (wip). And other devs are making best roms here and emo is compiling JB that days are probably gone when we used to cry that our device lacks dev support

There are very few fones with this kinda spec.. which is eye popping....also it delivers right... Go for it man..
Tegra2 dual core + wolfsons audio codec + slcd scratch proof super colors + 1GB ram.. all at a steal price...
Only hiccup for you would be that it lacks a high-end camera with 1080p record capability with hdmi support.
Apart from this.. custom rom support is really going big guns.. (considering we had none 8 months ago..)..

Royale is truly royal..... Its not found in common hands like s2.. only smarter geeks pick this device...
And, this now has much better support than it used to have earlier... which is more than enough...
I mean what is the use of 1000s of roms .... insted have 100 and of good quality... right now we don't have 100 roms..Ha ha...
But sooner or a bit later... we will have.... once CM becomes fully functional...
and the day is not too far away....

There are devices with tegra platform running ics. And sgr still one of the cheap but best smartphone according to specs. In market very few dual core with this features are available at 20,000/- INR.
And buddy no one is pointing gun at ur head and forcing to get sgr its totally up to u to what to buy. U can guy gs3 or nokia 1100 all up to u
Sent from my GT-I9103 using Tapatalk 2
kevintangi it depends what your priority is. That's SGR forum so 90% answers will be: go for it As a former user I want to say: If you are after a solid device the way it is out of the box and don't care much about fw-upgrades and devs' support go for it. Otherwise choose something else. If you want best FW-updates go for Nexus, if you want best HW and devs support go for one of Samsung's flagships, if you don't care much about best HW but you still want a decent devs' support go for HTC phone.
The way Samsung treats its non-flagship models is a dark zone and it's especially evident here. SGR is not even officially listed on the majority of samsung's websites. I've never seen more ridiculous update policy than the one here. Dev's support is better than at the beginning and the fact that CM7 is on his way sounds really promising, but it's still below the average, and it is rather doubtful it's gonna be much better, when the very best developers migrates from one flagship to another (from previous to the current one. (For example devs like: codeworxx, chainfire, gokhanmoral etc that worked on S2 now are working on S3...).
Hi buddy,
To answer some of your questions.
Is it worth it ? It's completely Value for Money handset ! At the price point it is currently available it's the best if you want a Samsung mobile which is easy to flash & also keep the warranty.
It even has some features which even the S2 doesn't have, Wolfson WM8994 DAC which is better than the DAC on S2& even on the S3. Some of my friends who listen to music & use high quality IEMs (headset) sold their SGS2 after they checked it's sound quality & they found it to be inadequate.
Though the AMOLED screens have good contrast they don't have the best visibility on bright sunny days. They are not as bright when compared to the SLCD on the Galaxy R & some guys have also suffer from screen burn-in issues on AMOLED displays. SLCD also gives much better battery backup when you are browsing the internet but has lower screen on time if you are watching videos all day long.
About the development scenario, if you are someone who wants to keep on flashing new ROMs & MODs daily then this handset isn't for you. However if you want a stable bug free handset which has most of the top quality features & which has a good amount of ROM & kernel options then go ahead & buy this handset.
CM ROM development has been started by CM Dev 'Epsylon3' who has developed CM9 for Defy which has much more lower specs. We already have nightly builds which some guys are using as a daily ROM to test it out completely. We'll soon have CM 9 / 10 once we have a stable base of CM 7 to upgrade.
This handset also has support from all the top game developers as it has Tegra 2 SOC, especially from Rockstar games. The Galaxy S Advance doesn't have any dev support as of now & it also has a smaller screen (which is a bit curved), the battery capacity / battery backup is also lower & moreover like S2 it doesn't have support for Tegra 2 games out of the box.
About the ICS update, the time given by Samsung is just around the corner & if you possible you can wait for approx 2 - 3 weeks to see whether it gets an update or not. Then decide on that basis which handset you are going to buy.
I hope this'll help you get a clear picture. You can go ahead & buy this handset right away or wait for sometime till it gets an update but it's much better than the Galaxy Ace for sure.
But if you can get a Galaxy Nexus then go ahead and buy that. I would surely recommend it over others because it gets the fastest updates & has pretty good developer support.
Hope this helps.
Cheers !

i would truly agree with m.kochan...he has given the best response...
See if you are buying sgr with the intent of getting ICS..den i would say wait for next couple of weeks...
Yes the hardware seems to be eye popping but when it comes in getting updates from samsung they are really poor...
Nexus costs less than sgr and has even better hardware...
And i dont see much future with this phone (personel opinion).
Also i have learnt that, if you are buying a samsung device..then it should be a flagship or a some popular product..the high-ends..!!
