I have a problem sending SMS messages that require UTF-16 format (asian characters, cyrillic, etc). Is this a problem with the messaging app?
When sending SMS with these languages, the receiving party gets garbage. When someone sends me a SMS I get garbage. It seems the messaging app cannot understand UTF-16. I've tried several different keyboards and messaging apps, but no change as all of these rely on the stock messaging app to operate.
I am running CM7 on Android 2.3.7
Baseband version M76XX-AAABQOLYM-1200-001 200-00
Kernel version 2.6.32.9 -perf
CyanogenMod 7.2.0 -RCO-Triumph-KANG
Build number TG-Reloaded 2012-10-14
Not sure what the cause of this is, but my girlfriend is having the same exact issue on her Optimus V. Not sure if it matters, but she ported her number from Verizon.

Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
which rom u use?stock or some custom?give us more details.
ROM: Hyperion v2.0
GB: 2.3.5
Sense: 3
Kernel: Hyperion v1.2
Radio: 20.28I.30.05AU_3850.06.02.03_M
I send messages to all people without problem, but my friend with Desire also flashed with supernova receive messages from all, but from me he don't get them right, just receive random letters of what i wrote.
I downloaded Handcent SMS app, and that way i can send him messages without this bug/problem.
So i dunno if the problem is mine since i send to myself and others ok, or if it's him with his rom, since he send also good, and receive good from others.
So, i've been using Handcent for a while now, and it has it's quirks, especially when you want to create custom tones for each sender.
An then i tried Pansi SMS, pretty new in the market, does what any other 3rd party sms app does, slightly easier when doing custom sms tones.
GOSMS is a no-go
ChompSMS, never tried it
Anyone has an opinion on which client they're using that does not lag when scrolling the conversations list? With the exception of stock app, that is.
The search for the perfect SMS app continues............
Why is GoSMS a no-go? I have 15000 messages on my phone in over 300 threads and there is not even the slightest lag on scrolling in the conversation list. Granted it is a not a "light" app but there isnt a performance issue and its very much bug-free.
In fact its the only sms client I have found that can support so many messages and not slow to absolute crawl just trying to start up.
i use go sms and i have about 6000 sms stored and no lag at all
i dont need custom ring tones or any of that other crap mind
i've never thought about using an other sms-client. what's wrong about the stock one? it scrolls also very smooth and is clean...
There's a few problems with the stock sms client compared to 3rd party ones. I use gosms because:
a) as mentioned above the stock app really doesnt handle a large number of texts well. It fails to start most of the time and can become very laggy when dealing with a large number of texts.
b) gosms supports emoji emoticons that are cross-compatible with iphone emoji emoticons.
c) ability to send to as many contacts in one go as you want without resorting to a modded stock app.
d) theme customisation.
e) able to have a custom ringtone and vibrate pattern for sms. I find this useful as I have my phone on silent most of the time and like the fact I can set gosms to do 4 short buzzes when I receive a text so I can differentiate between normal notifications (like facebook, email) and sms whilst it is in my pocket.
As I said I think my biggest issue with gosms is that it has too many features. I really dont want a chat client built in to my sms app, or the ability to lock it, have folders, see a list of all my contacts, message filter etc etc.
go sms was a no-go for me due to lag when i tried it about 4 months ago i think
maybe newer versions have improved
can you share what dpi you're on? i'm running at 240.
Currently on 320dpi because I'm back to using TouchWiz as I find the other launchers are still a little laggy compared to it.
I was using GoLauncher and GoSMS at 280dpi just a few weeks ago though and it seemed fine then. Im on LC1 stock deodexed. I advise you to be on one of the newer Samsung firmwares if you are not already. There was a huge performance jump between the K** based firmwares and the newer L** based firmwares.
i am on Chrack's LC1. May give GoSMS another...go.
Hi,
I'm currently using an ICS rom for my phone that already has the 160 char fix for the sms, the problem is in my country the phone provider supports multiple sms's (like sending up to 4 sms of 160 chars at once), and with gingerbread i would receive those sms fine, they would received together as one, in ICS they get cut off at 160 chars and i don't receive the rest.
Is there any fix for this?
Regards,
Search in play store "Android 4.1 JB Messaging SMS" by Tim Hutt. Try this, is an app based on original JB SMS, but in the moment dont work MMS. Author promess solver in nexts releases, and dont have option for re-notification SMS every 2minutus.
Hi Everyone,
I'm encountering problems on the stock SMS of LiquidSmooth. When I'm sending longer than 160 characters, the message is automatically converted to MMS and I don't like that. I already tried checking the Split SMS but what It did is that is split the message into 2 separate sms. I'm using rootbox before but didn't encounter this problem. Any solution for this? Maybe, any way on how to remove the 160 limit on sending sms? I like the UI and simplicity of design of the stock SMS that is why I like to use it.
Thanks!
Hi!
I just downloaded Textra. I have no problems sending SMS, but I have problems with MMS. Every time I send a MMS, I get a reply with the message:
"One or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal."
I have set the Send Size Limit for photos to 300KB. APN Settings is correct, as when I use the Samsung SMS app, it works.
Is it some setting I need to do? I am not sure if the Textra app is automatically resizing the photos?
I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 4, running on Android version 4.4.4
Will appreciate if anyone has any solution to this? I am not a mobile user in USA but in Singapore
Thanks!
I think it's a compatibility problem on android 4.4.4.
You should notify to the deverlopers.
